recently had the pleasure of dining at Khan’s Restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for the evening. The food was absolutely phenomenal – every dish was bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. The menu offered a wide variety of options, catering to all tastes, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The spices were perfectly balanced, making each bite a delight. The service was equally outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations. Overall, Khan’s Restaurant exceeded all expectations. One of the nicest curries I've ever had. I had the Naga shashlik, with pathia sauce. The chicken in the shashlik was really juicy, not dry at all, and a good spice level! The sauce was also lovely! Everyone else really enjoyed their food. Servers were lovely, will definitely have to come here every time from now on!

I felt my food was slightly undercooked, the service was fine but the atmosphere wasn’t great at all, wouldn’t recommend as I didn’t enjoy at all😡

We ate here tonight, 4 adults and 2 children.. I'd not been here for years and found it to still be, fantastic food. The food is good and it's competivily priced. It's a very busy restaurant for takeaways and sit in dinners.. We came on a Saturday, I'd prefer to come on a quiter night through the week. This shows how popular the place is though.. ( I'm just not keen on people 🫣) Staff are so pleasent and accomadating, dispite being so busy. They were working really hard, and remained attentive to all the customers needs. Some really decent signature dishes and seafood options. Decent sized sides and nanns.. Main dishes are very generous and some of our table could not eat it all. I'd recommend this restaurant. Great family ran restaurant...

First time visiting, we had take out, food was lovely and fresh, hot, very tasty.

Below average. Was looking forward to trying this , as it's about the only Indian restaurant around Carlisle I haven't been to. Disappointed, poppadoms were not crisp (£1 each and £3.50 for 3 small dips) my daughter and partner said the tikka masala was the worst they had ever had. Although I enjoyed my curry, it has black rotten coriander on it. My mum's Biryani sauce was tasteles. What really was disappointing about the visit was the atmosphere, we were sat at the back of the restaurant around 2 tables of 30 blokes. We couldn't hear ourselves speak and couldn't wait to leave. Waited around for ages for someone to ask if we had finished, in the end had to go ask for the bill at reception. Also charged for a pint we didn't have. Only realised afterwards.

We have been here before years ago and back then, Waterloo made both the best Vindaloo and also the best naan bread I have ever had (we are big curry lovers). Years later (as I write this now), we just got back home and I must leave this review just to say that you are still just as amazing as before! Everything from food to service was flawless and we greatly look forward to being back again as soon as we can! Keep up the amazing work and we wish you continues success! Richard and Jessica

1star for the food taste. Every curry we’d ordered were too sweet. All 4 of those curries were non- vegetarian, extra hot spicy… all of the tasted the same with onion-tomato paste based curry tossed with plain cooked chicken pieces. Very disappointed with an overall taste. Service was good. Reply to owner’s response : Wow!! Shocked to read your response... indeed you are showing all the antiquates, manners and professionalism in your response! Be honest to yourself, if you cannot accept genuine feedback then at least simply don’t comment someone personally. Looking at other comments we can clearly see your negative attitude in each of your responses against all poor reviews, pointing customers with their nationality, skin colour, judging, insulting them on the basis of 1 or so hours of your service, who you are to talk about our pockets? Absolutely neither of your comments are acceptable nor true. Any further such comments will be reported and legally challenged. Remember you were not serving the food for free nor we eat for free. We’d ended up in your restaurant on the basis of a reviews but unfortunately it was a total flop show, hence the comment. At least other foodies won’t get disappointed when they really want to enjoy authentic Indian food. Anyway your anxious response to the comments says everything, so you do not talk about “THE ENGLISH” manners, Good luck!!

Finest Indian food I’ve ever had! A perfect blend of spices to awaken the palate. Highly recommended! Will be visiting again soon.

We travel from Kendal 4/5 times a year to have a fantastic meal at Kahn’s restaurant. We have never been disappointed and the staff are so friendly. A big thank you.

We are on holiday for the first time exploring the area and we’re desperate for a place to eat and this place came up on Google maps! From the minute we stepped in to the minute we left it was an amazing experience! Owner is very courteous and hospitable, food is wonderful, delicious and full of flavour. My friend said it was her best Indian in a long time. We are definitely going to come back every time we are in the area. Thank you❤️

I met some friends here earlier this evening. The staff were absolutely lovely, delightful, and charming, but the food was even better!!!... First visit for us tonight, the food was Excellent, very fresh and tasty ingredients cooked well and well presented. Good service and all at a very reasonable price. It was fairly busy so I would recommend booking if possible.

Food was absolutely amazing and one of the best I’ve had. Staffs go above and beyond for your needs and requirements. Only disappointment was there was a table of rude customers who were being extremely uncivilised (I think they left the last review before mine) and if this was my restaurant I would’ve thrown them out without hesitation. Looking forward to my next visit and can’t wait to be back.

Very slow service (waited more than 45 minutes for the main course after our starters arrived) - restaurant was not even busy! Also the Drinks we ordered were flat!

We had a really Fabulous takeaway, we ordered online the day before. So we could collect as we passed on way home from work. Only down side was the over powering smell of air flowery freshener as we walked through the doorway to collect our takeaway. But everything else was outstanding, i think this is going to become a regular treat.

We ate really well, the waiters were really friendly, the only downside was that we couldn't have dessert, we were kindly told to leave our table to leave it to the other customers but that it was possible to have dessert at the bar... it is quite obvious that we left, if we had been English I don't think we would have had the same scenario... disappointed 😞

A random 1st time visit to area, suggested by a meeting chatting in local pub in Scotbay. Outstanding!! Food, atmosphere and staff amazing! Went out way, on a busy Saturday night we managed to get a booking!! Have tried to entice to oor wee island in Scotland for a franchise 😋 Thanks ❤️

Absolutely gorgeous food and really helpful staff, they will tweak the dishes to suit your taste, definitely recommend my only slight mark down was lighting is very bright so not very atmospheric.

Recently visited at KATW for my birthday. My friends and I had a wonderful meal there in a fabulous warm environment. The food was exceptional, the portions and the quality are excellent. The service was amazing, the wait staff are so friendly and accommodating. (I even got a balloon!) I'd recommend KATW to anyone. But do book ahead to ensure a table.

I have eaten in at this restaurant and taken out many times and ive never been let down by the quality of service or food. Ive taken several friends and family to try their food and they all now only use khans for their curry needs. One friend had never had a curry before and is now almost an addict! Looking forward to my next curry here! The masala chips and the cheesey garlic naan are utterly out of this world.

It is a good Indian restaurant clean and beautiful Food I’ve got some time with my familyStaff are good too and management very helpful my favourite use Tandoori chicken The rest of the family get what I want you can have some drink their alcohol I don’t drink I like tea and then make a lovely afternoon tea like like the maharajas used to have Great Days. I do not know what’s going on outside I think they’re getting the extension onto the building

Best restaurant I've been to full stop!! I've lived in 4 other country's. Never in all my experience, have i met such genuine staff before. For the first time, I wasn't treated like just another money paying customer. The staff were not staff, they loved being there. And undoubtedly were just truly nice people, that you could hapily talk to all day. And the icing on the cake is, the food is outstandingly good. This restaurant is seriously underrated. I will be back.

Just had a delicious chicken saag and veg rice. As a family we have been frequenting Khans for years. The meals are are piping hot, full of flavour with a very extensive menu. Highly recommend!

We called here on a Monday night last minute, there were 34 of us. They had no problem seating us and they were spot on with the food and it was very tasty.

Love this place and the food is just awesome.

An absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. Accommodated 4 of us at short notice. Portions are huge and flavoursome. Vegan and veggie options available and the chef is happy to adjust the heat of dishes to suit your palate. Unfortunately we live 200 miles away but will definitely be back next time we are in Carlisle.

Lovely food but had to wait a while for it. I had booked a table for 2 and waited to be seated whilst another couple came in after us and where seated straight away. Probably get a take away next time.

A family favourite of ours. We go that often they have my mums number saved to their phone! Honestly in my opinion the best Indian in the country. Cheap and cheerful. Big love to the Waterloo!

A lovely meal again with the Aglionby Curry club over 30 of us enjoyed our meals

Ordered for collection and had to wait approx 20 minutes after stated collection time, but the place was packed and for good reason so all is forgiven. The sweet naga masala was one of the best curries I’ve ever had. You can really taste the flavour of the homegrown naga chillies. Masala chips also brilliant. Never been impressed by them but these were superb. Partners garlic chilli chicken also outstanding. If we drive up to Scotland again next year we’ll be coming here again.

After being extremely impressed by a takeaway we had from Khan’s we decided to book into the restaurant for a meal. The food was every bit as good as the takeaway and the atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and welcoming. The staff were pleasant and attentive and checked throughout the evening if we wanted more drinks and if we were happy with our meals. We will definitely be returning and recommending Khan’s to all our friends. ((Edit: I have just written this review and after posting it I noticed the previous review. I do not know where these people have been for their meal, but it definitely wasn’t Khan’s!))

Used to be a really good Indian restaurant but sadly has seemed to have gone downhill. Worked hard this week to earn my pay and decided to treat my partner to a meal out on a Saturday night. The food was ok, portion size was ok, but not all items tasted like genuine Indian cuisine, as sadly seems to be the modern way things done for sake of ease and profit margin. Food 7/10 Service was ok from some staff but not from others. All young staff and no mature, experienced front of house to give it the feel of being well run. One young girl in particular gave the impression that it was beneath her to serve and wait on people and that she didn't really like the job. When asked about thw wifi we were told there was something at the bar that needs scanned to login. Should be at the table your eating at and you shouldnt have to walk across the restaurant while you and others are eating their dinner for it. A signal is important to some people. We'd finished our lime and soda (which was flat?!) And our wine while eating our meal and would have liked another drink, but no one came to see us. God knows how long wed have been sat there waiting for drinks and our bill. We ended up finishing our food and leaving. When we went to the till for our bill there were 4-5 members of staff sat round on phones and eating. Customer focus should be the top priority of any business. Without satisfying customers there will be no business. Service 5/10 The atmosphere/ambience was strange. It felt like we were sat in someone's house. We were the only table in at just after 9pm on a sat night. We could hear 2 lots of different music. The lighting was too bright. The kitchen door makes a strange noise every time it opens and closes, and someone was cleaning all the cutlery behind us in the room where we were eating. Our chairs weren't comfortable either. Ambience 5/10 Food was ok but sadly not a relaxing, enjoyable experience overall. It being empty at 9pm on a Saturday night spoke volumes. Im not a difficult customer at all and try my best to remain a positive person but my review and opinion is based honestly on my experience of eating here and hope it helps others make a more informed choice when organising and looking forward to going out for something nice to eat. Can't see how without some changes being made the restaurant side of the business can survive. It may be busy as a takeaway, but as a restaurant, it needs to improve. Seems to have kept going of the the back of its hard earnt good reputation from years past but now there's a sense of arrogance and lack of attention to detail about the place as if they don't care how your time there is for you or whether ull be coming back or not. From experience, i just answered fine when asked how everything was when paying to leave. I felt i'd be wasting my time telling them all the things that made us feel that we won't want to go back. I don't work hard all week to earn the money to spend on hopefully a nice meal to end up disappointed and in a heated discussion with a manageress about how unprofessional her business is and how it lacks customer focus. It doesn't seem she's the type of person to take on board constructive criticism. It reminds me of one of those tv show places where people like Gordon Ramsey goes to a failing restaurant to tell some home truths and give the business a chance and a makeover before it goes under. It used to have a good reputation and it has a good location situated on the A69 with decent parking but it just feels like their (the staffs) house and not a quality, professionally run, ordered, customer focused resturant and business. A good restaurant needs to have good food and good service and be an enjoyable environment to dine in. The food is ok, but everything else needs effort to be better, which is a shame.

Had a fantastic night here. Staff were fantastic and very informative regarding allergens. With my particular allergy they adapted a dish for me as there was no main dish i could have and I have to say was delicious. The Proprietors son couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommend.

We had a wait of about an hour and a half for a takeaway, but oh my word, it was worth it! Quite simply the BEST Indian takeaway I've ever eaten, even compared to award-winning places in Birmingham and Leicester.

Without a doubt worst curry I've had. Tesco ready meal has more flavour. My Butter Chicken sauce is supposed to be rich and creamy but it was like soup, watery and flavourless. Tikka Masala supposed to be creamy and spicy but this was sweet and sickly. Won't be back, waste of £27!!! THE OWNERS RESPONSE:- Says it all about a business when receiving constructive criticism they resort to insulting the customer! I never once asked for a "Freeby rice " or was rude to your staff. When making my order it was simply suggested to your staff member they could have helpfully pointed out the meal didn't come with rice. I've indeed had curries all over the country and I'm sorry yours wasn't up to the same standard. Terribly disappointed.

Lovely staff and service, terrible food - very bland and watery curry, not authentic at all. I ordered a vegetable pathia and it tasted extremely sweet and actually more Mediterranean than anything. I've had this dish before and it's not supposed to taste like this. There was an Indian woman sat on the table next to us and she found the food inedible. Wouldn't come back. Also what's with all the weird doors (ones you expect as a front or back door to your house) that don't actually close in the bathrooms?

Superb food and service as always, can't recommend highly enough

I visited back in 2018, not long after the family took over the restaurant and still to this day, it is the best Balti I have ever had. Unparalleled on spice and flavour, I can say that day I truly had an authentic experience. I've been chasing that experience ever since and was hoping to repeat it, alas it was not to be. I would describe the food as having "changed to occomodate a British palette". I was met with slightly stodgy Bahghi's along with poor and very few cuts of lamb in an under spiced and under flavoured balti. This may be exactly what the public want and if it were my local I probably wouldn't complain. It also might mean that my problem is with the nations approach to the cuisine rather than the restaurant itself. However, this is my experience. On a happier note, the service was impeccable. The eldest sibling clearly leading by example and doing a great job of it. I would also like to note that it would bring benefit to get rid of the stationery pot of cutlery from the middle of the table. I hand it to you it was spotless, but it comes across as tacky and unsanitary to have the cutlery on the table prior to a customers arrival, especially in a communal pot. There are some very low cost and effective ways to up the customers experience that if you looked into I think would bring great benefit to your business. Also, responding to positive reviews as well as negative ones is another great positive change you can make. It encourages repeat custom and improves your appeal and appearance.

From the moment we walked in, both the ambiance and friendly staff were very welcoming. The variety of options on the menu were simple, self explanatory and we got ordering immediately. Food was on the mark, with a mixture of traditional yet modern flavours. It's very clean and was a great choice!

Nice food service let the whole experience down a little appeared they had taken on too many large groups and takeaways so service for the restaurant was let down.

We dined at Khans last night the food and the service were excellent. We would give 5 stars and will most definitely be visiting again. We were made to feel so welcome by all members of staff. A rare find.

Great food. Service can be hit and miss depending on the staff on duty.

First time visiting. Food was lovely but the level of service was extremely poor. Waited ages for food to arrive with ridiculously lengthy waiting between each course. Waiting on staff were leaving tables (where guests had eaten and left) for over an hour before they started to clear away any dirty plates (not only was this unpleasant to be seated next to but it also attracted flies - not nice)! Restaurant didn't look too busy but the staff were acting as though it was and just kept walking around with empty hands. Bill came to £66 for 4 drinks, 2 starters and two main meals.
