Amazing food, can’t wait to be back! Went with a friend for my Birthday celebration and all the food was spot on, if you haven’t already tried Wagyu, please do!

This is my third time at KIBOU and it never disappoints. The setting and atmosphere was lovely, even on a Wednesday night in Jan! There’s a great choice of food on the main menu and specials. We ordered 8 plates to share and all of them were incredible, there isn’t one that I wouldn’t recorder. Our favourites had to be the spicy tuna roll, tempura prawn sushi and the Miso aubergine! The cocktails were also executed beautifully. Overall an incredible evening, made even better by attentive knowledgeable staff. Would 100% recommend, can’t wait for our next visit.

Went to celebrate my Godson's birthday. The staff were very generous in allowing us more time as a party member got stuck in traffic. The food was superb 👌 the staff brought out my Godson's birthday cake and sang and joined us in singing happy birthday. Thank you.

Kibou restaurant in Solihull is consistently a fabulous eating establishment. We have been a few times now and the food is of a very high standard, all the staff are super efficient and friendly, and the restaurant itself has a really cosy feel. A real gem in the centre of Solihull and really hopes it continues to be so fabulous!

I’m once again I’m compelled to write a review after visiting Kibou Solihull as it never disappoints. I’m fussy but this restaurant surpasses all expectations, it is truly fabulous. The food is of a highly consistent standard, the staff are always friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is lovely!

Looking for something different, this is a great restaurant. My wife and I went on Xmas Eve and were looked after and entertained by Lucy, lovely lady and a credit to the establishment. Great food, cosy atmosphere and excellent food. Wines are very decent too. What more could you want? Our 4th visit and never disappoints.

All staff were welcoming. Service was excellent. The food was delicious, hot and good portions. Plenty of choice for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters.

Tasty food that is beautifully presented. Cosy atmosphere with helpful and friendly staff. They informed us that they were short on staff that day, but in the end we didn't wait for long for our food to be served. Do mind there is a service charge included in the final price, something we didn't mind paying for but it might come as a surprise to some customers.

We went to the restaurant for the first time and I must say I was impressed by the place. The vibe is really nice, the food amazing. The only one thing I could say was the service was a bit on the slow side, but I must admit the restaurant was fully booked. If you planing on going, definitely make a booking before hand as it looks like the place is really popular

We had the Afternoon Tea and the sushi was delicious but the meal was not in the slightest filling. The sushi portions were more suited to one person and the sweet section was mediocre and we finished it all within 10 minutes. We had to order an extra Cali roll off the main menu as we didn't feel it was enough. Service was mixed - staff were friendly but they all basically forgot about us several times. At one point I was turned from my chair trying to get their attention for what felt like a good five minutes, I shouted excuse me across a table to one and was not heard and they served/cleared other tables around us but had no awareness of us. So I ended up having to get up to grab someone (to ask for our tea again). I wouldn't mind if they were busy or short-staffed but they weren't. We got our tea well after we had finished our meal, with no apology. And they forgot to bring our bill so we got up again and paid at the till. The same waitress we had asked for it rung the register and didn't seem to appear to have any recollection that we'd asked for it. We probably could have walked out without paying as the staff, were there, but seem to be daydreaming. They took the money without showing the bill and admittedly we could have asked but you don't expect to need to check in a place like this and for a fixed price afternoon tea - anyway, it meant we were charged a 10% service charge for a routine afternoon tea for two on a quiet afternoon which we were ignored for most of the time, so this was really disappointing. Especially as it was for my birthday - I'm not someone who looks for special treatment but basic service levels would have been nice, for a bill that came to £90 lunch for two. My friend paid and I hadn't realised this until after we left as I would have asked them to take the service charge off... And there is also the awkwardness of making a fuss when my friend is trying to treat me. Having said this, the sushi was lovely and overall vibe was good, so I would probably go here again but I wouldn't recommend the afternoon tea or expect any real attentiveness from the staff. Also, reading some of the other lower rated reviews, the responses/mannerism from KIBOU management are concerning, so it doesn't look like giving feedback gets you anywhere...

**Review for Kibou:** I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Kibou that I feel compelled to share. We were informed that our reservation was for 8:10 PM, and despite traveling from a distance, we arrived at 8:15 PM. Upon arrival, a male worker at the front door refused us entry, claiming that we were five minutes late and that the kitchen was closed—even though their website clearly states they are open until 10 PM. As we tried to explain our situation, the manager abruptly interrupted, told us to leave, and made a shocking statement about having "enough of our people," which felt overtly racist. To make matters worse, she refused to provide her name and even called the police on us. This experience left a sour taste in our mouths, not just because of the poor customer service, but also due to the unacceptable behavior exhibited by the management. I cannot recommend Kibou based on this experience. Save your time and money and look for a restaurant that values its customers.

Delicious food with many options to pick from. The customer service was exceptional; the staff went above and beyond by providing me with a vase for my flowers. Overall, Kibou is a good choice for anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. I highly recommend it!

Visité Kibou en Solihull después de escuchar tantas cosas buenas de familiares y amigos, ¡es seguro decir que NO me decepcionó! ¡Como amante del sushi y los mariscos estaba en mi elemento! Una selección tan grande de suculento sushi y otros platos tradicionales japoneses, esta fue mi primera visita y estaba tan consentido para la elección que tuve que conseguir algunos platos / platos. He adjuntado algunas imágenes a continuación e increíble es una eufemismo! No era solo la comida lo que era genial, era el personal también, muy atento, muy bien informado y siempre feliz de ayudar / explicar algo si no estaba seguro. Muy contento con la comida y muy contento con el servicio... 5 ⭐️👏

Rude staff and tasteless sushi.

I visit this restaurant regularly, it is a fantastic place to meet with friends and for date night. The atmosphere and decoration is cosy and unique. The food is unreal, it is so freshly made. On occasions the staff sometimes have been a little rude but the food makes up for it.

Mi pareja y yo queríamos salir a almorzar, y después de una fantástica primera visita decidimos volver. Disfrutamos del vuelo de sake 2 sakes y 2 licores de postre, el personal era atento y atento. Tomé el karage de pollo, trozos tiernos de muslo de pollo tempura con salsa de mayo picante. Mi compañero tenía coliflor dinamita, floretes adobados con una salsa picante y dulce tipo teriyaki. Para nuestra red, yo siendo un amante del sushi y tenía el plato de sushi, gunkan, inari, nigiri, sashimi, & maki. ¡Todo recién preparado y sabroso! Mi compañero tenía un tazón ligero y fresco lleno de sabores y texturas.

Went this evening for my wife’s birthday - this is arguably one of the best meals we have had in a long time! The service was excellent from start to finish - attentive without being stuffy, which is my favourite. Particular favourites were the crab bao bun, the scallop tataki and the wagyu nigiri! The chicken nanban and the chashu were unbelievably tasty too! Will definitely be coming again to try other bits on the menu.

Awesome Japanese experience! Great food, great staff. The restaurant is located near car parks and easy to access. Well decorated with a lot of taste. The food offering is complete there's a bit for everyone, fabulous drinks selection, Japanese sake, gins and whiskeys, great cocktails and all the classics beers and wines. We had a great time and we will visit again!

Just been myself and husband (27) taking my grandpa (98) who had never had Japanese. Food and atmosphere were great and staff were incredible. The man running front of house was lovely to my grandfather and let him try some sushi before choosing his dish as he was hesitant about the raw fish having never had it before. Made us feel very welcome. Great set menu deal as well.

Booked to eat here for my husband's birthday and we were not disappointed. Friendly greeting and drinks served straight away. The waitresses were very knowledgeable about the food and explained in detail what things were and made recommendations which was very helpful. We shared 5 different dishes which were all superb. The wagyu tatami was exceptional but we loved every dish. Would definitely return to eat here but make sure you book in advance as it gets very busy. Great atmosphere in the restaurant and you certainly didn't feel cramped at the table which was great.

My first visit to a Japanese restaurant, did not disappoint. A very helpful waiter took us through the lunch menu giving a full explanation of the dishes and food was fabulous.

Some of the best sushi I've ever had, food quality was amazing. Decor was really lovely and the staff were friendly. We came for a birthday and they made it really special. It is not the cheapest place to eat but the quality, setting and service are all fantastic so definitely worth it.

We eat here regularly with the kids. The service is always exceptional, just like the food. They are very accommodating for families.

I've been to Kibou in Solihull a few times now and can confirm this place is faultless, not even if I try hard to find something wrong with it. They recently introduced sushi tacos, which make a great starter to share. Similar feedback was shared by other guests who visited the restaurant with me, who were similarly impressed with the quality of the food. Don't expect cheap but it's money well spent when you get this level of quality.

We experienced bottomless sushi and were very disappointed. It's hard to imagine that the combinations they prepared for the second and third stages were almost 75% salmon and avocado（yap, we don’t know what we are going to have, sounds fancy the chef prepared for you…). The salmon had no flavour, and as we ate, we kept wondering why the bottomless sushi category is so much limited. If they are really afraid of food cost, they shall consider to call stop the bottomless sushi menu instead of serving the same within 90minutes. It's very disappointing not to be able to try other flavours. Don’t wanna waste so we had it all, we are not really full but we are tired with the tasteless sushi. The rice tasted similar to supermarket sushi... it's unbelievable that this is a highly-rated Japanese restaurant. The fried chicken and takoyaki tasted good, but they weren't unlimited... I wouldn't recommend this place to any sushi fans, as you'll leave disappointed. The environment and service were nice, but the food was just too disappointing. Maybe only the bottomless sushi menu deserves disrespectful. We have no guts to visit again just to keep my love to sushi. Hoping we are the only one feeling this way.

We came here for a shared birthday meal as a group of 4. Some of the things we ordered were: -From the set menu: Takoyaki (fried balls with octopus) and duck teriyaki poke bowl. - Dynamite prawn tacos and the Volcano roll The freshness of the ingredients was very evident in every bite. The flavours were absolutely phenomenal! This was our first time at a Japanese restaurant, and it did not disappoint. There was something for everyone and every person in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We also ordered prawn crackers and even those were the best ones we've ever had! Before I forget, they give you chopsticks but you can ask for a fork (I did). 10/10 on our experience here, we highly recommend this place and we will come back again !!!!

Visited for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent, and the food was possibly some of the best I’ve ever eaten, along with the drinks being superb. Will absolutely be revisiting if in the area again, one of our best dining experiences.

Nice place the food was tasty but 😀 we was 4 people for a bottomless sushi and basically you have 90 minutes and three type of dishes to taste after you taste them all then you can order more but you have just few types of sushi you can order and the waiter is talking their time so you end up with a feeling that you went there for a bottomless sushi but on the end it was limited sushi experience 🤣🤣🤣 so very mixed feelings good and bad 🫡

So the atmosphere is really nice. Had the worst sea food experience. Ordered sea food ramen, I couldn't take a single bite because of the smell from the food, left the clams and the large prawn untouched. Literally the smell was the worst because i dont know may be the batch wasnt current or idk. I did eat the ramen and spice level was good. Also asked for halal sushi as they made it with sake, but said they couldn't as its made in bulk which was totally acceptable. The guy also put me on discount because of the food. But had a terrible experience as I am a foodie and nothing else matters.

First time eating here & won't be my last. Having worked as a sushi chef in the past and reviewing kibou in the past, I decided to take my family. Definitely NOT disappointed. I myself had the spicy tuna roll & duck and cucumber with an okite iru. My partner had the volcano Roll and a Yuyake. My son had a chicken ramen vegetarian broth as the regular is spicy. Afterwards, we enjoyed apple gyoza, yuzu cheesecake, and mango sorbet. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely. The staff are very helpful and attentive.

Third time I've eaten here and standards are starting to slip a little. Plenty of staff but most are standing around chatting with each other not paying attention. Had to ask for drinks twice even though my glass was empty for 10 mins. Had to ask for water and the complementary nuts. Had to ask for chilli twice. Sashimi was good but clearly not as fresh as previous visits. Sushi not quite rolled correctly. Portions also smaller. Spent over 85 quid and left feeling a little disappointed and almost felt like disputing the service charge. It's great to have this in Solihull but having sloppy service when paying premium prices isn't really acceptable. Updated. Been coming back and the service and food has been superb. Great variations on the menu and great staff. Well done Kibou!

I visited here with two friends who were celebrating their silver wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed with our choice! It was our first visit but definitely won’t be our last. The service was superb & the food delicious. We shared so many tasty dishes. My friend was so impressed with the tempura prawns starter that he had another portion all to himself instead of a dessert! Can’t wait to return & will recommend to everyone I meet!!!

Took three payments total, one without my card or me being present?! Since they have then taken over 4 days to get back to me and have now told me I am lying about this even when I have provided bank statements and have confirmation from my bank that they have duplicated the payment multiple times. It’s been raised as fraud and I have also reported it as a breach of data protection as they’ve stored my bank details and used it to repeat the payment a day later. They still have yet to return my money to me. Avoid this restaurant at all costs unless you want your bank card to be charged multiple times and then be called a liar when trying to get your money back. Something dodgy definitely going on at this site.

Fantastic place, very friendly staff, but most of all: fantastic sushi. The sushi master recommended the "surf and turf" set, which was simply divine.

The wide selection of nigiri is delicate, tender and buttery. Sushi and Katsu was very delicious as well. Service was very lovely and had knowledge about the food. Especially Mikey provided a great service and was very friendly towards us.

Beautiful food, lovely location and nice feeling premises with a good vibe. We've been here 3 times know and would be going more if we lived closer.

The food served here is flavoursome but not exciting. It is very standard western Japanese fare that is probably slightly overpriced. Cannot complain about the price too much though as the service was brilliant and considering how packed the place was quite quick as well. The sashimi was the highlight of the meal - fresh and delicious. The volcano roll pieces, though tummy, need to be rolled tighter or made smaller. They were a tad too big for the mouth. My wife had to pick it apart to be able to eat it. That is a sushi sin!

Definitely recommend. Dined in for a birthday meal and the staff were all lovely and very attentive, went above and beyond to check what foods my mother could eat (soya allergen) and they constantly checked if the table were happy so it was overall a great experience. Thank you to all the staff

We really enjoyed this place, the interior is just gorgeous and the atmosphere and service are both great! We had the sushi platter, the fried squid, chicken karaage and bao buns which were all delicious. Had the kibou cocktail which I would 100% recommend! We will definitely be back.
