Kingfisher in Oldham

The pub was fairly busy which was a good sign but we managed to get a seat easily. They had an offer for 30% off mains, but even without this- I would happily pay full price. I hadn't been for a number of years but was really pleasantly surprised and would definitely go again. The food absolutely did not disappoint, and was amazing. The staff were friendly. We had a bit of a wait but it was busy and we didn't mind or notice as the food was so good. I would definitely recommend, and have already to some friends and family.

We booked a meal for our daughters 18th n 21st birthday, there was 17 of us, we ordered our in different groups and was happy all our food came together & it was all piping hot we had a variety of food & everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, my 10yr old grandson wanted the curry so we didn't expect him to eat it all but he ate every bit, the children's ice creams was well worth the money. All in all from our views the pub was clean, the staff was all very friendly & polite all wished our girls happy birthday, food was amazing, we ordered drinks from the table which was served immediately, you absolutely made our girls meal so enjoyable & we thank you so much & hope you tell the manager & the staff a huge thank you xxx

From start to finish our experience was great. The staff were polite and helpful made me feel very comfortable when I was ordering the food. I suffer from anxiety so this is a big thing for me how others are around me, so thank you is all I want to say. The food was amazing I had the lasagne and my son had the bbq chicken burger from the children's menu which he said more than once whilst eating it in his words mmmmm this is so yummy from a 5 year old you can't get no better compliment than that 😋

Excellent place to stop and have a drink and a meal with your dog. Free parking but don’t forget to enter you reg when you visit. Also outdoor seating overlooking the canal. A good selection of food drink.

Went for breakfast today, they were having some issues with heating however staff were very warm and welcoming. Coffee lovely and hot and food well cooked. We haven’t been here for a few years as the service wasn’t great at that time, much improved this time around and we will be back.

We were served the blandest, most awful and tasteless food.

Food drink and service good but turn the heating up, I had to sit with my coat on.

The welcome was warm and friendly. We were invited to choose our own table as it was fairly quiet. The food we ordered was fresh and very tasty. The only quibble was that we tried to use the QR Code to order our food and drinks but the whole menu did not appear when using this. I had to go to the bar to order our food and drinks.

Great place to eat and allow dogs with well behaved owners.

Warm welcome as always, great meal on Boxing Day, great service too. We'll definitely do it again next year.

Christmas dinner was fantastic we, we really enjoyed tge food and had no complaints, the service was great, the staff were very intentive. The whole experience was second to none and we would come again

I paid £13.79 for half a pizza, lol. I chose the lighter version of the chicken pizza + extra pepperoni (as advertised), and it came as half a pizza!? (4 slices) and the rest a salad. It said no-were that it would be half a pizza. 12/13 quid for 4 slices!? Crazy, mate.

First time here ,I was visiting Oldham for the day seeing friends. They suggested here. Nothing we really fancied on the menu, other than a sandwich/ baguette. But they're only served til 3pm. Opted for scampi and lasagna. Both edible, but nothing special. Standard basic pub grub. That particular evening the lights kept flickering on and off leaving us in almost the dark several times. No apology/ explanation. Pub felt a bit run down. In Need of some tlc. Won't return for food.

All staff were really friendly and helpful and the pub looked great; clean and tidy with nice Christmas decorations. The menu had plenty of choice, all food was delivered quickly and everything was delicious. The location is lovely too, we finished with a short stroll down the canal.

Excellent food (roast chicken) at reasonable cost and wine at £2.50 a glass plus free top ups on soft drinks - hard to fault or beat 😊👍 We returned to the Kingfisher on 29/11/24 for dinner with family and enjoyed another excellent meal - the all day breakfast is a favourite, the burgers are equally scrumpy and the gammon is the best around. I must also mention the pizzas, which are as good as anything you'd find in Manchester, with lovely things crispy bases and lots of choices of tasty toppings. To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable and they offer a daily meal deal, like a burger, fries and a pint of your choice for £11.95!

8 of us went there the friday the 22nd of november. The place was freezing cold, food wasnt that warm either. To be fair we went last year a food was cold too.It was very disappointing. Lesson learned next years for works xmas dinner we will go elsewhere. No admosphere either. The waitress was very helpful and polite.

Great food although the restaurant was quiet

As a family with little ones and a dog, we were welcomed warmly, received great service and enjoyed our food and drink immensely. There was no negative aspects to my visit which is my reason for recommendation.

Quite disappointed in the food.. A party of 4 had different dishes and none of us were impressed. The staff were nice and friendly.. although some tables weren't wiped down. There was arguing going on in the kitchen, a lot of shouting...not nice when your going out to eat. Beer/soda prices on the steep side but if it's quality you don't mind...this isn't quality. Came here when it first opened and the food was spot on! Such a shame 🫠

Been a few times now this month great food atmosphere and value for money

The experience was disappointing We are sat ourselves down as no staff to help us Walked over food that had been left on the floor Waitress with dark black hair came over I told her about goid on the floor she told me " it doesn't matter " She did clean it up after We tried to order but was confused with the number of different menus We ended up ordering on the app which again was confusing as things from one menu was not on or was from another The lady with black hair came over asked how many people we saud 6 she came back a dropped 6 knife and Forks on the table and walked off My friend asked if they had coloring fid the children she pointed to a sideboard which had a box with 3 felt pens and some part colored in Colouring sheets After we had eaten another lady brought 5 new packets of colored pencils out for the children to use. The children's area needs looking at the interactive screens are fab but the wall paper hanging off looks scruffy The disabled toilet set was not safe and I slipped off the side which with 5 slipped discs and a degenerative spinal condition did not do me any good The chicken burger I had was fine the French fries not great would be better if you can pick chips or fries and my friends chips looked lovely The chocolate cake with spray cream was very disappointing dry dry dry even added friends icecream it didn't help it The lady with dark hair clean our table and picked up the biard my friends pizza was on and tipped the crumbs on her ( she picked it up like it was a piece of paper not palate food had been on) My other friend had a number of issues with her food and frankly if we had nit already paid we wouldn't have paid the whole bill Noone as how our meal was and the lady with black hair tried to take the child's icecream whilst she had the spone still in her hand. Over all will not be experiencing that again sorry

Basic food here at ok prices but drinks expensive... Staff shouting at each other in the kitchen heard in the eating area. Table was clean but sticky.. lacked attention to detail Was convenient but won't bother again.

Went as a family of 4 with a 5 yo and a 7yo. The staff were awesome and there's a family area so you can relax and not feel glares from other childless people! There are games and plenty of colouring. It's a great place for kids. The food was even birds eye nuggets for the super fussy kiddos. Desert was ridiculously cheap for them and amazing value. The adult food was reasonably priced and reasonably tasty. It's not going to blow your mind but a decent portion and tasty and well priced. Great selection of beer too. Thought the staff were really friendly. We enjoyed our time there as a young family. Will go again. Happy kids happy parents.

Update 21 Sep 24: Kebab with Maple sauce great! Scampi OK but basic. Service still good. STEAK WAS VERY VERY POOR. THINK WILL JUST GIVE STEAKS A MISS HERE. Previous: Service a little haphazard but happy enough staff. Food cheap and cheerful. Good drinks offers. Outside area allows Sun and drinks to combine. Large enough to cope with high demand but would hope more staff on hand. Better than the previous 2 for 1 offers. Meat and Pizza done well and "muffin pizza bite starters" a revelation.

My family spent a lovely afternoon with grandson Leon his 18th birthday and his mum Stephanie 40th .

We visited The Kingfisher yesterday. We were a party of 6 so tried quite a few different dishes between us. The food all arrived at the same time, was hot, cooked to perfection and very tasty. We were welcomed on arrival, the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the service was with a smile. On arrival at the car park we did purchase a parking ticket, but our money was then refunded when we made a purchase at the bar, so the parking was free. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing experience, and we look forward to visiting again soon - thank you! Visited The Kingfisher again and had another fantastic experience - thank you! Would definitely recommend.

Pleasant surroundings good service and meal

Food was out quick and a very high standard. The atmosphere was very welcoming. The fish and chips had great portioning and the double chips option was perfect! 😋

Nice pub lunch, promptly served, good menu, children's menu, includes light bites and all day breakfast. A nice place to meet friends for lunch.

Great service, great staff, great manager. Good is really good value, staff are very attentive and work extremely hard considering how busy the Kingfisher now gets. Ignore the idiots who complain about parking. The parking is free, there are signs everywhere outside telling you to put your reg into the tablet at the till upon entry for four hours free. The staff even ask if you have come in a car and prompt to put the reg in. If like the last reviewer, you can’t read, then you deserve a ticket. I was sat in the pub when this absolute loon came in and if I had been the person whom he spoke to with his attitude, I wouldn’t have had the good grace that the manager did by cancelling the ticket for him. Back to the review, you really can’t go wrong paying a visit here. Right next to the canal, plenty of fresh air outside, very clean and inviting inside.

Went here for food for my nieces' birthday. Had better & more value for money at a motorway services, which is probably why the place was dead. We were the only people in there & everything was overpriced, especially the alcohol free beer. It costs me 60p/ bottle & was £4.50 here! Rip off. To add insult to injury, I later recieved a parking ticket of £100 for parking in the pub carpark!! (they don't tell you when you walk in) I guess they've got to make money somehow, they just rob it off you instead of earning it. Also when I went in to explain I'd been eating there and shouldn't have to pay, a large obese man with a graying beard was extremely rude, unsympathetic, and almost forced me to beg him to not charge me the £100 for parking. Absolutely disgusting service, prices & borderline quality food. Also, boring lifeless atmosphere & if it wasn't for us, not a laugh to be heard...Such a shame, as a little customer service from the management, reasonable prices, no parking restrictions & better quality food, this place would be a nice place to attend. However, as it is, avoid this place at all costs! 🚫

Won’t be coming back again, used to come every month, for food and drink, went recently on the way back from a funeral, just received a parking ticket for £100.00 apparently you have to sign in and out your car reg, not 1 member of staff told us about this new procedure, 1for the hidden parking company, zero to the stupid customer for dining there, if I wanted to pay 160.00 for a meal (including parking ticket) I would have stayed in London! Kingfisher you have let yourselves down badly.

Great value for money,always a nice meal

Rhian and Aaron were a delight. Food was very quick, hot and tasty. The fish batter was light and crisp and the fish was delicious.

Although we live in the village this was the first time we'd been in for food, & only came as we'd got a voucher! Food was absolutely lovely. Staff were friendly & helpful. We were both enjoyed our experience & we'll definitely be back. Can't believe what we've been missing!

Excellent pub, staff and food great

I entered the pub in a desperate state needing water and support as I had misplaced where my car was parked . Rhian came to my rescue without question ( bar person ) she immediately drove me around the whole of Greenfield for about 30 mins and even though I didn’t find it , her colleague Sam bought me a coffee and calmed me down ( many thanks to his friends Sadie and Magdalene who used Facebook to contact my friends ) in fact all the staff were welcoming and supportive . I had left my phone , wallet, current V5 and basically my whole life in the car . I am eternally grateful to them all for their kindness . THERE ARE GOOD HONEST PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD

Unfortunately never had the chance to have food here yet but the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff are lovely and friendly, they have a kids/family area with interactive tablets which keeps kids entertained whilst u have a quiet drink with friends or family, they are big on been respectful to customers especially around the kids/family area they will not tolerate swearing or loud drunken groups they will ask u to leave if they feel u are been disrespectful to other customers, apart from having to pay to park which personally I think will encourage people to try and drive home rather than leave the car there overnight the pub it's self is great can't recommend enough

This is a very nice place to go for a sit down & chat with some food. The food isn't absolutely amazing but it is good. The environment and where it's located is nice. Whether it's winter and you want somewhere warm to sit and eat or drink or it's summer and you want to drink and eat by the canal, this place has it

We had a lovely steak and ale pie here (£12), excellent value for money. It's fully wheelchair accessible, free parking by entering your reg on the terminal at the bar.

Staff are always helpful, the price is very good. Always a good option for a cheap meal out with the family 😃

Superb night, great beer, atmosphere and service. We had a mixture of plates including steaks, burgers, curry and fish meals and all prepared perfectly by Alex. Oscar was great accommodating a large party. No complaints at all.

Had a nice meal with my family of 10 we all enjoyed our food which ranged from Steaks , Scampi , burgers and curry . We all polished off our food. It’s not fancy but very tasty and reasonably priced . The children were free to to use the little children’s corner . We all had a really nice family time . Our server was Oscar who was attentive polite and friendly .

Zero atmosphere and the bar person seemed like she wanted to be elsewhere. I waited 5 minutes to be served even though the place was empty. The pint of Marstons Pedigree I was served was warm and had a strange taste. The female member of staff serving me didn’t even pass me one of my drinks, I had to reach over the bar to the pump to get it, she just walked away. Oh and to add insult to injury, they charge for parking. I’m just glad we didn’t eat there. Avoid at all costs.

Lovely food, friendly staff, clean well looked after premises, I have booked a memorial meal for 14 there as well to celebrate my late wife's 60th birthday, that is how highly I rate the place, it was my wife's favourite place which we used to visit regularly. 5 stars out of 5. Went there again on my my wife's birthday as the service was just as good, excellent again

Wonderfully tasty, well presented food, Alex and Rose in the kitchen clearly take pride in their work. Great service, food arrived quickly. Callum behind the bar patiently took our order even though we'd forgotten what we wanted in the 30 seconds it took us to walk to the bar..(it'd been a very long week).
