All good ,except they didn't have a couple of things that I would have liked on the menu . But I had lasagna it was lovely so I was very pleased . We had a 50% off voucher, so all was good 👍

Excellent service, pretty good Sunday roast (and a fair variety of other options). Starters were a bit underwhelming.

Just had the pie of the day … was a 10/10 … everyone I was with was really happy with their dinner … at last I can come to my local Pub and have a great meal … Finally xx

Hat the hunters chicken and got to say was very very good! Friends had the fish and chips and they loved it.

Lovely building, but and overall experience and food was horrible! My fish and chips was overcooked and cold. My family's roast was cold and tough and bland. It took ages to get our courses, we arrived at 12.15, and we got our main dishes at 2.30 and desserts at 4pm 🙄😒 Waiting staff were lovely, but looks like the place is understaffed 🥲

Great food friendly staff very busy place

We ordered a beef brisket sandwich in a artisan bloomer bread with dipping sauce. It took 50 minutes to come out. It wasn't on the bread advertised it was on basic brown bread. There was no dipping sauce to be seen so I asked the bar staff and she said she will find out. She didn't bother. It was very dry so we had to smother it with mayo to get it down. £11.50 very overpriced but the bloomer and sauce made it sound so nice. We won't be going back.

We had a reservation at 4.45 post the Santa train at North Weald. The train journey was longer than were told so I called the resturant to explain we were delayed. No one answered so after 2 calls I left a voicemail. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told our table had been given away. We were told we could eat if we ordered immediately but listed lots of food which wouldn't be available to us including no vegetables, roast dinners amongst other options. I don't think they wanted our business. Such a shame as we have eaten here before and have always had a good experience and have recommended to friends. Surprisingly lots of tables in the resturant so not sure why they could not seat us.

Family meal to catch up with my son and his girlfriend today. Travelled from Ipswich and I can honestly say the Sunday Roast Dinners were superb! We will return!

Great meal for my daughters birthday. Food was delicious and the service 5 star. Would definitely recommend.

We visited as a large family group on 29th Sept. On arrival the restaurant felt very cold. This was initially raised with the waitress who said there's nothing they can do to adjust the temperature. The waitress took our drinks order, which we needed to chase at least 2 times to enquire where our drinks were, they arrived around 50 minutes after we gave the order. When we asked why it was taking so long we were told they only had 1 member of staff serving drinks. Our food arrived approximately 2 hours after we ordered it. Some of us on the table received our food a good 10 - 15 minutes before others in our group received them. The vegetable sides with the roast dinners arrived around 10 minutes after the mains arrived. When the veg sides arrived they were stone cold. The roast potatoes were very poor, and clearly had been reheated. The table next to us who arrived after us had finished their main course before we had drinks delivered. Really poor. To put all this into context, nobody ordered starters and just to get drinks and have our main course took around 3 hours. The sides were cold and elements of the main course were clearly reheated, and some members of our group received their meals 15 minutes after others. The manager was very helpful and did what she could with each complaint that we raised. In the end all our food was given to us for free. If the food wasn't free this would've been a one star review.

All four of us really enjoyed our meal here on Friday night. We all ate something completely different and everything was perfect. Service was good and attentive.

Chalk and Cheese visit, last time we dined here felt like we were in the way, this time felt very welcome and received great friendly service. Did not recognise any of the staff so possibly a new crew. but they were 1st class today 4/9. Food was also very good and well presented. Congratulations on making experience for my dads 85th Birthday so good.

I came here for a sunday dinner, and it was brilliant, the service was amazing, I was waited on by Sam and Erin, they were so attentive!! Helen was the manager today and was very welcoming and poured us our drinks whilst we waited, will definitely be coming back. So happy with my experience!!!!

We we're on an anniversary meal with family yesterday, 25th August 24 at 415pm. The availability was poor, and everything we asked for had run out. We went with what they had left.... the steak was overcooked and returned, the chicken burger was overcooked and dried up, returned. Very bad service would not recommend to anyone.

Booked a table but weren't show to one on arrival, no menu was given without us asking. Order 2 roast dinners and they were awful. Boiled potatoes, cold meat and luke warm veg. Avoid for food!!!

The meal was very enjoyable.I had a steak which was cooked really nicely followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard which happens to be my favourite it was very tasty if very slightly too sweat. My husband had calamari to start which was nicely cooked and not too chewy, followed by the chicken and vegetable curry which was delicious.All in all a very pleasant meal, which was made even better by Charlie our waiter who was charming polite and very helpful, a lovely young man

4 of us went for Sunday lunch, 3 had the signature burger and said it was delicious I had the turkey roast and was disappointed the potatoes were awful and the vegetables cold

Went for lunch, no lasagne, no steak sandwich, no fishfinger sandwich, no steak pie, so I had the chorizo (yes that’s really what it’s supposed to be) and the picture is what was served. One hour and 10 minutes later my friend still has no lunch. Compensation was a bag of crisps and a Coke, ironically she was the lucky one. Avoid.

Husband and I and Rollo Dog arranged to meet a friend at the Kings Head - there's always plenty of room in the car park and at outside tables. It was a little chilly so for the first time ever (we've always sat outside previously) we sat inside in the bar. Rollo was made so welcome and offered treats from the "dogs Table" which he accepted with a paw shake. We couldn't decide what to eat, until Louise offered us the bar bites (Three for a tenner) menu and explained how it worked. Well that was it - we were sold. We had six choices which we shared amongst us. I am amazed at how much there was - the mix was excellent and there was plenty for us all. And we even ordered Rollo a sausage which he devoured. The service was excellent, the staff lovely, friendly and chatty and as we left, there were lots more people arriving - and lots more dogs. We will be back

Went for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Service was lovely. Restaurant area was nice and busy. Food was fantastic and even more credit to be given, the chef was off that day and the manageress stepped up and was in the kitchen. Trio Roast was superb. All food cooked nicely, potatoes and gravy stunning. All in all a lovely couple of hours. Little tip, save room for pudding as well!

Terrible. Worst pub ever been too. Staff don't turn up so can't open... Did try 2nd time food cold . Ok if want salad... Only thing going for is it's appearance vintage looks. Shame tho vintage inn the chain don't get there act together and bring themselves update with service..

Popped in for lunch with my friend. Our server Louise was friendly and efficient. We had the sea bass which was delicious. And a hot drink and mini dessert after. Good experience.

Very friendly welcome and excellent service from Louise. Couldn't have asked for better! She even made a fuss of our nervous dog and really helped to make our evening happy and enjoyable. The mains dishes were excellent. We had a lovely quiet space with plenty of room for five of us, plus a wheelchair and a dog! Definitely recommend. Hope to go again.

Lovely atmosphere on Saturday evening. Excellent, attentive service from our waitress Lauren. Always a pleasure to chat and she always has a smile to welcome us (even if we can be awkward with our requests 😂) Food was lovely - lasagne - came up hot and very quickly. Came for a spot of lunch with my mum who was in a wheelchair. The staff made us feel welcome (as did the locals- helping us in the door! ) and showed us to a table near the disabled toilet. Food was piping hot and lovely. Mum couldn't eat her Lamb (looked yummy but lack of appetite) she was embarrassed but the meal was swifly boxed and she is looking into having it tomorrow. Big thankyou to Louise for making our time with mum special.

A lovely old pub with atmosphere and helpful friendly staff

We went here because the place we had booked was now different . It was my husbands birthday but we were very disappointed with the meal as two of the items my son ordered for starters were not on . He then had to order something different from the mains menu as again his first choice was not available. When the food did arrive a lot of it was cold and overcooked. . After complaining we did have something taken off of the bill but definitely would not be going again

Have visited before and has always been good. Today, I reckon they were understaffed as the food took a while to come out. Food was good though and the restaurant area is always nice and relaxed.

After many years of avoiding this pub, we came here for dinner, after attending some questionable local pubs who'd run out of food. We arrived three minutes before they stopped serving food, which in some establishments would mean we'd be turned away hungry. Not a problem here, we were greeted by a young lady called Rhiannah who couldn't have been kinder, more pleasant or indeed professional. Really prompt service and excellent food . We also had a very pleasant conversation with Lauren, who was serving behind the bar. I later discovered that Rhiannah was the duty manager, she has all the makings of a great manager, making sure the team were working with her rather than for her. Each member of staff was treated with the utmost respect and seemed very happy to be working with Rhiannah. I've avoided coming here for so long, a mistake i fully intend to rectify.

Went to the King's head for a wake, long waiting time at the bar(small bar), had ordered 3 for £10 nibble food, choice ok sausage rolls really nice, wasn't allowed to order drinks at 10.30 only locals were WHY?, disrespectful, lots of money was taken that day/night

This place is transformed! Been such a sad thing living in a village with such a beautiful pub but always going home for dinner but honestly we've had two brilliant meals here and we'll be back for more. Lovely food courtesy of Rich and amazing service from Lauren.

The food was ok. I conti have given 4 stars , but the dish I ordered wasn't that good. The fish was dry inside and over cooked. On the other hand, the dessert was amazing 👏 🤩. I would highly recommend them and the burgers, my companion had one of them.

We went for a Sunday roast and all meals turned up cold and the vegetables were all hard. The waitress was lovely and took them back to the kitchen and the new roasts were also cold and the vegetables were hard. Third time we got lovely hot meals but the vegetables were still hard. We won’t be eating here again. No offer of any kind of compensation and we heard another table sending their meals back because they were cold.

Had a lovely lunch at the kings head, our waitress Louise was very good and made it enjoyable even with a toddler. Would highly recommend.

Tasty and affordable. Good atmosphere. Lunch and dinner menu are both good. Dog friendly.

Unfortunately, our meal was overcooked. I think 🤔 this was due to so many people who came to dine. They did listen to our concerns and took some money off the bill.

Three out of four dinners were awful. We got there at 2.30, my son ordered a pizza and was told they’d ran out of pizza doe!! He then ordered a steak sandwich which half he had to leave as was so fatty. Myself and my daughter in law ordered the chicken, bacon and avocado salad. When it arrived the bacon and red onion as mentioned on menu was absent! We then had to wait while bacon was cooked. Also I’ve never seen such a sorry looking salad in my life. Some little gem leaves thrown in with cherry tomatoes cut up!!! That was it….. the avocado was over ripe too. On a plus side my partner had the steak pie, which he said was delicious. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back here as the first time we visited I had to complain as my gammon steak arrived completely raw in the middle. It’s such a shame as the staff are lovely and the poor waiter serving our table was run ragged

We've been here a few times before, and it's always been warm and friendly, but our most recent visit was fantastic. Lauren/Tina were the best host(s), genuinely lovely and welcoming. The food was amazing, especially the new banana choux (which came highly recommended by Tina...) Also had the pleasure of meeting Alarnah. Just waiting to feel hungry again, then we'll be back!!

Visited the kings Head again today for lunch, they have a new menu which is great, the food was hot and the signature burger was huge and delicious!
