Been here a few times now and every time the food and service is amazing, and the quantity of seafood options is wonderful. Will be continuing to dine here.

We've been to this restaurant a few times over the years but it was horrendous tonight. We've had a few minor issues before but never this bad. No sugar free drink options for my sister, undercooked food and one plate arrived with a hair in it. When we asked to speak to the owner she was rude and denied that food had even been sent back accusing all 13 of us of lying. We explained we weren't expecting money off or a refund we just wanted to highlight the issues and she still insisted we were lying. Don't bother going. Ruined our one family Christmas meal out.

Wish I'd read the reviews before booking. Went for the pre-theatre menu so not sure what the food from the a la carte menu is like but I won't ever find out as I'll never go back. I mean, how hard is it to make melanzane parmigiana??!! It was just awful. None of our party enjoyed our meals. Tasteless. Bland. Waste of money. I can make better italian food at home and I'm no expert. Such a shame as the restaurant is beautiful and screams luxury... until you see the state of the menus that is. Such a shame!

Just had our meal here. Which was decidedly poor. Mushroom risotto which contained at best one chestnut mushroom with a tiny portion of rice. £11 rip off. Service took almost an hour and that was after asking if we had been forgotten.

Went for pre theatre, group of 8. Starter of melanzani, plates were that hot they were almost volcanic, not a problem and prefer it this way. However, the sauce was bland and tasteless. The main of pork was terrible, so tough you could have used a steak knife. The plates were cold the veg consisted of 2 roast potatoes and approx 8 runner beans, bland tasteless sauce. My wife left half her Pork as it was too tough to be bothered with. When serving the main course 7 of the 8 dishes arrived however we all sat waiting patiently for the 8th. Eventually we chased to be told they were just serving it up. 7 of us ate whilst the 8th person waited before eating hers half way after everyone else had started. This is my first time and my advice to others would be don't eat hear because it's convenient for the theatre, its worth a 10 minute walk to find somewhere better.

Came here before watching Paddy McGuiness. The food was quite expensive and was really bad. The first time we had to send back all the main dishes, the manager was adamant they were all popular dishes. Avoid if you can and go to nandos or TGI Fridays. Obviously happens often with these signs outside.

We've been here before and thought it was a little mediocre, but blamed this on us being the first in and mid day. We visited for a meal before the theatre to we opted for the "pre-theatre meal". We opted for a simple pasta dish and it was quite nice. I like parmesan so here is where this started going wrong... The waitress scooped a very small teaspoon onto my dish and it barely covered 1/5 of my food. When I asked for some more, the response was astonishing... "I'm only allowed to give you 1 spoon". I just looked at her and she walked away. Moving on, "can we possibly have some bread please?" 10 minutes later she arrived again with 4 slices of toasted baguette no more than 6cm wide. The bread was just under £5. Shocked isn't the word. Needless to say, we won't ever return.

Food was fantastic, service wonderful. However it appears that may be because I was white. As I sat near the bar I heard clearly people coming in requesting tables. Every single person was found a table. The only exceptions were a black man, wanting a table of two, who was told nothing was available and couldn't say when something would be. Less than 5 minutes later a white couple with no reservation were seated. Lots more couples and groups without reservations were seated. Later, a lone black girl was also turned away for a table. I went to the toilet then to see many empty tables upstairs and was about to vacate mine - as was most of the restaurant as they were there for pre theatre menu. I kept trying to think of excuses... But there are none. It was plain as day. No excuse for that kind of treatment and segregation in this day and age. I wish I'd said something at the time, or offered the black girl to join my table.

Food (vegetarian) was excellent. Coffee excellent. We were slightly short on time for the theatre. We explained this on arrival. We had not booked but the attentive staff found us a table and made sure we made the show. Family run restaurants like this are so precious in this age of vacuous corporatism. I do not usually write reviews but this experience deserved this review. 5 star.

Past experience here has been amazing, both the quality of service and quality of the food. On this occasion we booked the theatre menu for 5pm and checked that they were happy to serve a three course meal to finish by 6:30pm. We arrived 15 minutes late due to problems parking but by 6:20pm our main courses hadn't arrived despite reminding them twice that we needed to leave by 6:30pm. When I said we had no time for our main courses or deserts but were happy to pay the bill for what we had actually consumed, I was presented with a bill which included three starters at £15.95 each, which I disputed. I was then advised that they would call the police which was most upsetting. I eventually settled on a reduced amount but felt bitterly disappointed at the way I was treated. Unfortunately the restaurant was unable to fulfil what they agreed on the telephone.

Arrived as a walk in with my 6 year old. Given a table for 2 downstairs, went upstairs to use the bathroom. Came back down ordered drinks and then a staff member came to ask us to move upstairs as someone who had booked was disabled and couldn't make it upstairs. Upstairs had no atmosphere was cold and dingy and I said, if possible I would prefer not to, at which point a really bossy member of staff came over and repeated the request and said the lady had forgotten to tell them when booking and so we needed to go upstairs, again I said I would prefer not to and pointed out that there is a free table down here. Had there been nowhere else for the lady to sit then to make it clear I would have moved but it was not nessecary. She then told me I hadn't booked and was lucky to get a table and even though another couple said they would move she then berated me and said look at the woman she is disabled and so I decided to leave. It was a pre theatre treat for me and my son and I just didn't feel like being shoved in a corner. I had been seated, it was not my fault but was treated like a leper and the staffs attitude was awful. When we went outside I was almost in tears and some outside guests asked me what was wrong and so I told them. The staff member in a blue jumper then came outside shouting at me saying 'oh are you still going on about this...' and started to have a go at me again. She barely let me get a word in edgeways. Her parting shot was ' you were lucky to get a table... go away we don't want you anyway'. How charming for my 6 year old to hear. I went back into the restaurant after she ignored me and tried to explain again the situation but she didn't want to listen and just shouted over me and may I say kept shouting about the lady saying.. look at her she is elderly, she is disabled. The lady must have felt so embarrassed. So word of warning if you go there without booking remember you are lucky to get a table and this clearly gives the staff carte blanche to treat you like dirt.

Pros: Ambience was good and very tastefully decorated place. Looks newly renovated. Cons: Food - ordered the garlic cheese bread which was OK. Then the pasta, cream sauce with ricotta and spinach filled tortellini. Was bad. Throughout the meal all I could think was this must have been bought from Aldi or Tesco. Definitely not fresh. Service - I'll bring 1 thing, which is the waiter kept asking me if I'm okay and want anything else with a serious face, when I was done with my meal and enjoying my wine. She asked me 2 times in 4mins. Kept staring at me like as though she clearly wanted me to get the bill and leave. Just sharing how I felt uncomfortable.

We had a theatre meal last night before going to see Dick and Angel Strawbridge across the road. The waitress was very friendly and took the order promptly. The food itself was fine, but there was not a lot of it for £20. I had an Americano coffee (black as it should be) which took quite a while to arrive. For an Italian restaurant I would have expected better. The coffee tasted like instant. The restaurant is wheelchair friendly but the toilets are at the top of a set of very steep stairs.

We called in originally to have coffee to fill time before a show at the theatre opposite. Glad we were early and got a seat, as it soon started to fill up. We decided to eat there and again glad we did. My wife had gnocchi alla sarda which was delicious. The lightest of gnocchi and a generous portion. I had ham and mushroom pizza, tasty base and sauce and plenty of topping. Served by polite friendly staff, and arrived quite quickly. We called in again after the show for desert and coffee. Excellent tiramisu and nice profiteroles. Once again filled up quickly. So strongly recommend booking, as I feel we fell lucky with timing. As it is a restaurant not a coffe shop so quite pleased they let us in. Well worth the visit

Had a pre-theatre meal at La Bella Napoli and thoroughly enjoyed it. Really good menu selection, and the food was perfect as well as being reasonably priced. It's also in a perfect location in the centre of Hanley, very handy for the theatre. The waiting staff need to be a little more attentive, and learn to scan tables, but that's the same everywhere these days. We'll definitely be back!

We had an awful experience on Saturday 20th July. We arrived early for a pre theatre meal. The service was very slow , as they obviously were short of staff. We waited over an hour for our main course . The mushroom risotto was the worst I’ve ever tasted. It was like rice pudding , only a couple of mushrooms in it. I asked for more Parmesan cheese , thinking it would give it more flavour, but it was tasteless. Finally we went to the bar to pay and asked the waitress to take two thirds off one card and a third off another, only to be told in a very rude manor that we would have to sort the cost out ourselves. She said she was too busy to work it out, even though there was a calculator on the bar. We will never return, couldn’t believe the rudeness shown to us and we have often gone there pre theatre in the past. Do not go there if you’d like polite, efficient service. Never had to put anything like this on reviews before.

I’ve only put one star as there was no option for 0! Absolutely awful customer service, Served RAW chicken, no apology from management, and we had to pay for the replacement meal!! - shocking when we will potentially have food poisoning, Management advised, these things when they are busy! They have a policy somewhere displayed about the paying of a replacement meal, So this must be a regular occurrence! We weren’t advised about the “policy” when we asked what replacement meal we wanted. Avoid like the plague unless you want food poisoning and to be spoke to like your a scrounger! Management have absolutely no customer service skills, actually embarrassing. The carbonara was also completely tasteless, For an authentic Italian, it tasted like it was sauce out of a jar, and dry! I would not return.

After reading some recent reviews I was a bit sceptical. Our experience was nothing like the last few reviews, it was outstanding. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Food portion size was OK but taste and look were brilliant. I had the scallops to start which were fresh and the sauce was outstanding. My main was veal which again was fresh and perfectly cooked. We attended at 6:30 on a Saturday night and it was quiet as the theatre had no shows on. Going off previous bad reviews it seems to be theatre nights when they are busy service drops a bit but for us it was amazing and will definitely be returning.

Not a good experience, the table was booked 6 weeks ago, my mum called to confirm and they denied having the booking even though they had sent an email confirmation, they said to come along anyway as they have had a 'cancellation', service extremely slow, food not good, the wine was like a glass of water so i sent it back, being partial to a glass of wine I'd be pretty confident in claiming it is watered down but that's just my opion...if it looks like water and tastes like water...🤷♂️🤷♂️ Portion tiny. We were there for pre theatre dinner and it is clearly evident that they have too many covers for pre dinner dining, the reality is everyone will be arriving at a similar time and equally wanting to be gone at a similar time so it would make far more sense to reduce covers for those couple of hours so they can deliver an efficient service, everyone around us was complaining and chatting to adjacent tables 'I was here before you guys and those guys and you've got your food' etc etc. Dont be greedy, you have a captive market for that window of time, reduce your covers and equally you will make up the revenue on extra courses as we would have had desserts as would the table beside us if we had time, if we had a starter we likely wouldnt have had time for the main, an hour and a half should be ample time for a couple of courses

We booked a table for 6.00pm for a pre theatre meal. We arrived under 5 minutes late to be told there was no table available as we were 'late'. The restaurant was full with diners who had obviously been there awhile, which made us think the booking was completely ignored. We were told there would be a table available shortly, so we waited at the bar and was eventually seated at 6.15pm. Fine we thought. A starter arrived just before 6.30pm and the mains at 5 past 7. The performance at the Regent Theatre started at 7.30pm - so we were beginning to get concerned. We ended up rushing our food (which was distinctly average at best). So the meal we were looking forward to turned out to be not the best dining experience we'd ever had. When we came to pay the bill we asked to speak to the owner to be told he was not there due to 'family problems'. We gave them feedback on a ruined evening, to be told that 'fresh food' takes time to prepare and were accused of being 15 minutes late! All this was actually shouted at us, with no apology, they just went on the offensive. We paid up and left. Needless to say, we'd never go here again. They need to seriously look at their 'booking system' and train the staff in how they deal with customer complaints.

We dined on a weekday and had the pre-theatre menu. The starters were garlic mushrooms which were literally a few mushrooms in a cream sauce. It seemed really basic and was nothing special. It could have done with a garlic bread crouton or something with it. We had the chilli chicken pasta for main and I would say the pasta did not taste fresh, the one piece of chicken breast was quite small and again it was nothing special. It was all a bit disappointing and service was slow.

Perfectly located just across the road from th Regent Theatre, this was an excellent choice for a pre-theatre dinner. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, and there is an extensive menu - including a fixed-price menu for pre-theatre. We chose Bruschetta and Garlic Bread wth Cheese to start. Not massive portions, but certainly enough for early evening. For main we chose the Pollo della Casa and a rather creamy pasta dish with chicken and chorizo. Both dishes were freshly orepared and perfectly cooked. Washed down with a good bottle of Primitivo it was a wonderful start to the evening.

Forgettable experience. We had been unable to get in Little Dumplings next door so decided to try La Bella Napoli. Started off well, friendly older gentleman (owner?) greeted us and took our order. Downhill from there, exceptionally slow service, despite the smallish restaurant being half full on a Saturday evening.Below average starters arrived after an eternity. Whilst the starter plates were being cleared away, my husband asked how long the main course would take, as soon as we told him we would pay for what we had eaten and drank, as we had somewhere else to be, we were promptly told "it's being cooked now". Shortly after, a young waitress came over and asked if we had made a complaint. I said we had because the service had been exceptionally slow, no explanation or apology were offered but she said that the mains would be ready in 5 minutes. I replied that if the mains were not served in the stated 5 minutes, we we would be leaving regardless but reiterated that we would pay for what we had partaken. The mains did arrive shortly afterwards and were nice. However, a dirty glass and plate on top of the poor service and attitude of staff when faced with a legitimate complaint mean that we will not return or recommend.

Visited last month for pre theatre dinner. We had to ask for the pre theatre menu as it wasn't given to us and to be honest, there was nothing appetising on it anyway. Time for an upgrade, I think. Despite booking a table quite some time in advance, we were given a table in the room upstairs, which was cold & lacked atmosphere. Service was very slow & we had to remind our waitress that we were heading to the theatre & needed to get a move on. Whilst our food was tasty when it finally arrived, the portions were quite small. We had the creamy mushrooms to start with which were delicious, & not wanting to waste any of the sauce, we asked for some bread to mop up everything. Imagine our shock when we checked the bill to find we'd been charged £4.50 for 4 small slices & a small portion of butter. Daylight robbery. What a complete rip off. Needless to say, we won't be going back, in spite of its very convenient position right opposite the Regent Theatre. Instead, we will be taking our business & hard earned cash just around the corner to Roberto's Italian, where the food is exceptional, service is excellent & the prices don't leave you feeling as though you've been ripped off. Roberto's has always had the edge over La Bella Napoli & continues to do so.

We weren't offered parmesan with our pasta so I had to go to the kitchen to ask. My food (Spaghetti Bolognese) tasted like it had come out of a tin. We weren't offered a desert menu. The kitchen system didn't work because people who came in before us waited over an hour for their food and were served after us. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. Booked for a pre theatre meal so I expected it to be busy. Beautiful place and atmosphere but unacceptable waiting. After 45 minutes waiting for starters, I got the waitress attention to enquire and get a second drink to be told it would be a few more minutes for the meal. After almost an hour I asked again and it was clear our order had been forgotten as we were asked again what we had ordered. No explanation or apology was given and the main course was obviously rushed as the pasta was not fully cooked. I complained and suggested a small reduction on the bill. I was told bluntly no and that as a theatre night I should have expected it to be busy!! Accepting that they have made a mistake which they clearly had on this occasion would have been the least I would expect and an apology but we got neither. I will definitely not be returning!!

Very overpriced for particularly bland food that failed to justify the price. Salmon pasta usually has Salmon in it, not at this place. Never mind the Aubergine starter that’s meant to be come wrapped in Parma ham… nope, not here. And if you ask why it’s not plated up as described, be prepared to face a stern telling off by a manageress with a baby attached to her hip… not the most professional experience encountered. My most memorable part though? £4.20 for a lime and soda, yes.. no typo there. £4.20. £3.50 for a bottle of San Pellegrino, 70p for your dash of lime. Priceless experience.

A group of 9 of us went last night for my daughters birthday meal.As usual the service was excellent from the taking of the drinks order to the delivery of the meals. All staff are very pleasant and attentive. Finally on guessing the price of the bill before it came we were pleasantly surprised how reasonable it was. A lovely night had by all!.

I have been to this restaurant many times and always had a fabulous meal. I called ahead due to some queries I had regarding food intolerances and I was told that I would be fine to order on the night. My food intolerance was fully catered for and my meal delicious. Great food and drink at a very reasonable price. Brilliant service - thank you again Marcella and family for a great night. We will definitely be back soon.

Service poor. Drink poor. Ordered gin+ lemonade came like tap water, no ice ,no fruit diabolical for the price , had to ask for ice and fruit it took 10 minutes. Pasta dish was a child size portion and the waitress sprinkled a teaspoon of parmesan on ( not left on tabe) ???? Chocolate Fudge cake came with NO cream or ice cream dry as a board. Shocking for the prices charged. Pre-Theatre treat or to put it politely NOT. Grou of 4 ladies, shall not recommend or return. Very disappointing. ☹️☹️☹️☹️

Disappointing experience ! I didn’t mind that the food is below average And dishes looks heated and not freshly made At the end looks like this is their standard But the thing that bothered me the most is the service ! The staff are really rude and unprofessional .. ** edit to the comment as i can’t reply - we actually didn’t eat all the food , and we have not eaten two of our dishes that we have paid for - we didn’t make big deal of it , because this how you being nice and respectful which is apparently something the workers their lack - we did point few things to the waiter and they were very rude - Finally, you can see from the replies to all the negative comment how professional those guys are .. instead of trying to improve on these things that have been repeated in the reviews ! Anyhow good luck with your business

Absolutely wonderful! We popped in for some dinner last night and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a really nice vibe to it, really cosy and warm! The staff were fantastic, really attentive and even the restaurant owner (we think he’s the owner) got involved in serving our food and clearing our plates, which we thought was lovely. The food for us was spot on and we can’t wait to return again soon, thanks so much for having us. Emma & Mike x

Sorry can't rate food we only had a latte. But being Italian it was lovely, it was a very windy & cold day so it was welcome, just two members of staff when we called in.both very pleasant & helpful, I walk with a rollator. & The young man showed us the best table to sit at. We looked at the menu but it was but early for us to eat, but my friend & I are both vegetarian & there was several different options for us if we had wanted to eat. So we decided we are going back to try the menu, maybe several visits to work our way through it.lol.everywhere was very clean & welcoming.

VERY RUDE OWNER & STAFF .. & Bad Food Came in tonight for my other half’s birthday and couldn’t have been worse to be honest!! . It was only 5.30pm and the place was empty so there really was no need for the VERY long waits we endured , no need for The VERY rude and poor attitude from the owner and I assume manageress and the food really wasn’t great either! Many issues through the evening with lack of service, and food ordered not arriving but the worse point was sadly my main and the staffs response to this… being allergic to onion I specifically asked what a certain dish was served with - I was advised Potatoes, Peas and carrots. My Food came after a long wait on a bed of Onion !!!!! When I flagged down the owner and told him he argued with me saying that I should have known it came with onion !!! Even though his own staff had advised otherwise !! He then literally huffed, snatched my plate away and stormed off like it was my fault !! …we sat there gobsmacked! The manageress then came over and literally chastised me like a child and said ‘ what a waste of a dish it was ’ !!!!! Like it was MY FAULT !! We were Never asked if we had any allergy’s and then they actually served my allergy up to me and got angry when I couldn’t / wouldn’t eat it !! The Lasagne had by my partner looked reheated and not at all fresh - he didn’t finish it , my mum advised her Spag bol was very average and again pasta tasted soggy like it had been reheated or over cooked The Garlic bread we ordered with the main to share was 2 tiny pieces of bread with a very hard tasteless cheese on, again it looked and tasted reheated and certainly not enough to share ! Our Potion of fries where so small was like a child’s portion and very white .. looked and tasted undercooked Only came here as the other Italian ( which we love ) around the corner was full !! But this will absolutely be the last La Bella Napoli is actually a lot more expensive than our usual Italian in the next street and it’s really is style ( decor) over any substance. Certainly not worth the money they are Charging! The place was totally empty when we walked in and also not particularly busy when we walked out .. meanwhile other restaurants were full and that says it all !! With the poor food and bad staff attitudes it’s easy to see why they aren’t filling the seats ! I wish I had read the reviews before this spoiling my other half’s birthday meal I totally realise that issues, bad days and problems happen .. but it’s how you deal with them ! Not only did we not have a single apology we were spoken to and treated with disrespect and made to feel like a nuisance I would advise to avoid and book elsewhere sadly and will not return

Friendly restaurant and good service was let down by serving warm beer. Although we mentioned this when reordering we still managed to receive another one. Pizza was very average and not like a Neapolitan pizza. Light was not working in the toilets.

Ate here for dinner recently, pizza was small and not authentic and quite greasy! After visiting naples I know what a napoli pizza should look and taste like and this missed the mark. A friend has a carbanora pasta dish which was just like penne pasta and double cream, it lacked flavour. I had high hope as the restaurant from the outside looks lovely and the majority of the staff are Italian so thought this was the real deal, sadly it was not.

Brilliant evening with friends and Derek was an absolute star! We were seated immediately on our arrival and our drinks order was taken quickly and arrived quickly. The food came at a suitable speed and everything we had was excellent. However the best part of the evening was Derek who looked after us brilliantly. So we will definitely go back! Thank you Derek.

The restaurant was cold, the fire was ineffective and on one of the coldest days of the year the radiators were off and very cold to the touch indicating they had not been on at all during the day . We moved our table closer to the fire but I had to keep my coat on as I ate. I have never had to do that in a restaurant. Despite us being the only customers there, we were placed in the large main dining room, not the snug, which had its own log burner and would have been warmer. The waiter became defensive when we complained despite our comments being about the restaurant, not about him. He admitted he was also cold and as an explanation offered up that it was ‘particularly cold today’. Surely a reason to have the heating on not off. He also bizarrely stated that the place was warmer when there were ‘more people in’ .When we were the only two people there the comment seemed a bit irrelevant. Sadly the restaurant looked run down with peeling paint and damp. None of this would have particularly mattered if the place had been warm. I wondered why they bothered opening on a Thursday lunchtime if we were the only customers. If they can’t afford day time heating then it’s probably time for a rethink. The prices on the menu were lower than what we were charged. They mixed up the fixed menu prices with the a la Carte prices. Even when I raised the issue and said we should be paying for 2 Fixed menu prices of £24, they charged us £49.90. We had the set menu and I was asked what sauce I wanted with my steak. I was amazed to be charged extra for it on the bill as I assumed it was included in the set dish. I was not told it was an extra which I find misleading. We ordered a glass of wine, the waiter didn’t ask whether we wanted large or small so I assumed it was a standard glass so it was annoying to find we had been charged for a large glass when we hadn’t asked for it. I would normally expect the serving staff to ask large or small if there is actually a choice not just to make that choice for the diner. The more cynical may wonder if this is a ploy to make more money out of customers? Watch out for this as the waiter did not make it clear that we were purchasing extras with the food or that the practice appears to be to automatically supply large glasses of wine if you don’t specify otherwise. In summary the food was ok but I couldn’t recommend this place unless you were booking in the middle of a heat wave.

This place is SPECIAL! I have eaten in hundreds of places and loads of Italians… even in Italy… so I like to think I know what is authentic and really good food and drink. Robertos is worth travelling from london for, just for a meal! Not even joking. Superior place. Homecooked, first class cuisine and fabulous service from staff who really care. Great prices and a beautiful vibe and atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back and visit!
