La Chouquette was my first stop on a self-organised food tour of Didsbury! The Almond Croissant came recommended, and it was a great choice: big, covered in almond flakes and a moist filling. We also shared a madeleine and two financiers: the Raspberry & Coconut one had to be favourite.

Visited the newer Poynton branch. Best croissant I’ve ever had. Sandwiches were brilliant too. Coffee needs to be a little stronger but worth the queue.

The pastries here are the best I’ve found outside of France. I’ve been to most European countries and nothing compares. Coffee is very nice and the staff are wonderful. I love my weekly friday morning visi.

10/10 best bakery in Manchester area. I recommend to everyone who comes to manchester to make the trip to didsbury for these pastries and take all my family/friends when they visit. Almond pain au chocolate is my absolute fave but everything from here is exceptional.

I've been forced to write this review as it is an abomination that this place only has 4 stars??? These are the single best croissants you will get outside of France. The staff are lovely and the service is always great but even if it wasn't... I would still go. The financiers are incredible. The almond croissant is like crack. The pain au chocolat.. divine. These people know their audience and I am proudly it.

This was our first visit to La Chouquette. We placed our order but we were disappointed to find that the female member of staff who was serving us was both surly & curt! She even placed the change on the counter rather than passing it to us!! We will not return……

Unbelievable pastries, bread and cakes. The pastries are the best I’ve had outside of France. The staff are wonderful and really care about their produce. The owner is super passionate and friendly which really reflects in how the place is run. They can improve the coffee.

Had to queue for a bit but once I tried their beef sausage roll and almond croissant I was blown away. Not a pastry person myself but trying theirs made me realise that what I was eating before was junk. This is the real deal - and I’ve been to France. 5*

Amazing customer service! Thought I would treat the family to some nice sweet treats at the weekend. Ordered and then realised I had forgotten my purse and phone had died so couldn’t pay…no problem! Took my treats, gave my email and paid when I got home! Such amazing trust of the local community that I will not only be returning more (than I usually do which is monthly /6weeks) I’ve left my first ever trip advisor review. Also had a wonderful chocolate gateaux for a special occasion. La Choquette, you thoroughly deserve all your awards and more. You epitomised the Didsbury village spirit and community. Thank you!

I have quite a few different pastries from here, all have been well worth the money. I got my friend the lemon meringue tart for her birthday and she said it was the best dessert she’s ever had. Would definitely recommend here to others.

Without doubt the best croissants available in Manchester. The pain au chocolat are also deliciosus, and if you need something for lunch try the sausage rolls - you'll never go back to having regular ones.

I visited the bakery today and I can assure you that this place is miles away from French patesserie. The Paris Brest tasted like cupboard and massive queue for it is worth. Stay away and save your money . Tres mauvaise experience.

This place is unreal, so spacious and such a perfect location. The staff were so accommodating and allowed me to rebook when I was unwell to a later date. Stacey, a housekeeper, lent me her charger for the night, without hesitation.

Whenever I work in this area, I always go to Waterside Cafe on Redhill St Manchester 4. Appropriately named, this delightful, clean, welcoming cafe sits by the canal. Inside it is very clean with an extensive light meal/snack menu. There are deep settees to relax in or chairs and tables. People sit with their newspapers or laptops. The owners are so helpful, friendly and accommodating. My favourite thing is the goat's cheese panini which is really good quality. Go there, it's a lovely place.
