EVERYTHING is right at this restaurant. The service (so nice), the food (so delicious), the atmosphere (so cosy), the look (hello Paris!). We really had a wonderful evening here. Starters: Soup du Jour, Houmous, and the Baked Normandy Camembert. Main courses: Chicken Normandy, 8oz Rump, and Winter Salad. Mmmmmmm. Delicious!

Saturday night dinner for two. The staff didn't know what a pastis was( french aperitif!!!) Came over twice to take our starter away whilst still eating...then as it got busier forgot about us and didn't come over to take our dessert order.... So we asked for bill and left. Upstairs ladies toilet was like the Arctic, no heating on. I informed a member of staff who was apologetic. They now include 10,% add on for service so we didn't tip . Meal was ok but service terrible.

The lady is very patient with the service. The food is okay, but the chicken is a bit hard. Overall, it's okay. The atmosphere of the restaurant is good👍

I don’t know what to feel about our experience at this place where we came with the hope of having a pleasant evening. Should we be upset about being scolded by the waiter, or about them miscalculating our bill (and somehow always overcharging us), making us go over it three times, or about the fact that all this took hours to resolve? On top of that, the same miscalculations happened three times at the table next to us, and when the poor customer said the bill was incorrect, the young waiter shouted at him mockingly as if it was his fault. It was truly a terrible experience. After waiting forty minutes for our order, when we asked the young blond male waiter how much longer it would take, we were told, “Why don’t you come to the kitchen and help out then?”. And at the end of all this, when we said we would like to report his name via email and asked for it, he refused to provide it. When we said, “We can refer to you as the young blond gentleman, there’s no harm in sharing your name,” he accused us of being racist and threatened to call the police. I believe that people who misuse such sensitive topics for their personal satisfaction are unfortunately the biggest obstacle to fighting racism. What more can I say—this sums up our evening.

Christmas Day lunch service was absolute carnage. Despite all food having been pre-ordered, service was exceptionally slow, incorrect dishes were repeatedly brought out throughout the meal, courses weren’t served to all members of our party at the same time, and food was served luke warm. Tables around us were served main courses before starters, or not served anything at all for hours, or received meals with foreign bodies included. The management and kitchen had clearly lost all control over what was going on.

Sadly Le Bistrot Pierre isn’t what it used to be. It has a more cookie-cutter menu, there’s no longer fresh bread on arrival, and the overall standard of the food and service has fallen. It feels more like a chain (which it now is) and less like an authentic French bistro.

You had to see the funny side of our experience At Bistrot Pierre Leicester on 4/12/24, it was absolute facial, see the complaint I made. It was a good job we had a couple at Wethespoon before we went, wish we had eaten there as well. Good Morning I write to you in relation to a bad experience at your Leicester Restaurant on 4/12/2024.  We had booked a table for 3 at 17-00 for a festive meal, on arrival at the restaurant it was apparent that the staff on duty were very stressed and struggling to cope with what was not a very busy restaurant.  Having been seated it took some considerable time for a drinks order to be taken, which was 2 Mojito's and bottle of Merlot. It took about 15 minutes for Mojito's to arrive served with no straw and we were told that there were no straws. The bottle of Merlot did not arrive and we had to ask numerous times for this, which caused confusion amongst the waiting staff. The starters we ordered,  2x Rarebit and a Salmon Pate took around 30 minutes (the Merlot had still not arrived) the Rarebit was just about as described, but the Smoked Salmon Pate in no way resembled pate, it was a few pieces of what seemed like tinned Salmon with a sloppy sauce thrown on it, my wife said it could be described as "cat food milkshake" served with a tiny piece of bread, she had to leave her seat to take it to the young man who it seemed was in charge, he was seemingly shocked by it, and when told we still did not have our bottle of Merlot said that all the staff were new and had not been trained, also that he had only been manager for a couple of weeks. The wine did eventually arrive. Now main courses, we ordered 2 x Duck Parmentier and 1x Roast Turkey dinner. The Roast Turkey dinner was acceptable but I find it hard to describe the duck dish, it consisted of a few bits of meat, none of which bore a resemblance to duck, stranded under a thick layer of mashed potatoes in a thin sauce, accompanied by badly cooked frozen peas. I could not eat it and complained to the manager, who went to get the chef, she seemed highly stressed and said it was due to "supply chain issues". Enough said about the poor food, it did seem like we were in some kind of reality TV show or a recreation of Fawlty Towers, we fully expected a camera crew and Michael McIntyre to jump out and tell us it was all a spoof.  Joking aside, I have to say that just about all the other customers were having the same issues as us, and I felt extremely sad for your staff who were clearly overwhelmed and under trained in any aspect of restaurant service. The Young Man acting as manager did his upmost to rectify the problems but they were, in all honesty out of his control. We reached an agreement as to what we would pay for this meal. Just another point, the attached picture shows a pile of boxes under a staircase opposite where I was sitting, not a good look or in any way festive. Your thoughts would be appreciated. I did receive a reply from Danny at the restaurant apologising, but he clearly thought that 20% off and a bottle of wine was adequate compensation for a truly awful experience. I did reply to him asking for full compensation but did not get a reply.

This review focuses mainly on the service, secondly on the food. This is the second time I visited this restaurant. On both occasions the host was not friendly - and these were two different hosts. I don't think management is effectively picking the right people. One of the servers was friendlier than the host, a black girl who smiled while serving me the water, she made me feel welcome, so that earns the place a positive point due to her lovely demeanor. The host did not smile, and interrupted me on a couple of occasions when I was talking to her. When she came over to ask "is everything ok" shortly after my meal was served, I barely moved my lips to reply when she cut me off with "good" and turned her back abruptly without barely making eye contact. At the end when I was ready to pay, she repeated the question and I told her the main course (pork medallions) was great, but the harricot verts (french green beans) were very overcooked - and before I could finish my sentence, she cut me off saying "I'll tell the chef". I was going to point out how I left 80% of the green beans dish on the plate and did not want to be charged, but I never had a chance. She brought me the bill with a discretionary service charge which I made sure to ask her to remove. I cook green beans at home and know how they should be cooked. They should not turn brown and mushy, and that is what I was served today, so that was really disappointing because I feel that more often than not I make a better meal at home than what I get from restaurants - I am a very good, confident home cook who buys fresh, quality ingredients and know how to prep them. My total for this visit was just over £20 without the discretionary service charge, and I feel that while the pork medallions were worth the price due to the lovely, well-balanced sauce, the side of green beans left me hungry and I had to top up at home to not feel hungry, so I did not want to be charged for a side dish I barely touched. When I sat down and started looking at the menu, I mentioned how I was watching my calories and wanted a recommendation, the host said "sorry I don't know the menu, I'm new". Well, she should take some time to review the menu then? If she's new and doesn't know how to host, how to listen, and how to process feedback that she receives why would she leave a discretionary charge. That charge is only ever warranted when the staff has been helpful, but on this occasion I feel I could have cooked the same quality or better at home for far less money (except for maybe the sauce which I'm sure took more time to prep than I'd be willing to spend on a Sunday afternoon). In conclusion, due to the hosts inexperience and lack of good manners + the overcooking of simple green beans (a basic that any chef should get right) this establishment earns an overrall 3/5 stars from me. Positive point: they asked me about allergies, and when the food was served I was again asked about allergies and met with a reassuring nod (I disclosed an allergy).

Had a lovely time at Bistro Pierre last week. We went as a group of five for the Soiree Gastronomique, the place was decked out for the festive season and there was a really nice atmosphere. I had been slightly worried that, with the place booked out, there might be delays or even not enough time between courses, but I thought the pacing for the meal was pretty spot on...we were in there for about two hours (for six courses plus drinks, coffees etc). Staff were warm and approachable throughout. The portion for the main course (the turkey dinner) was particularly generous considering it was part of a tasting menu, as were the pours for the wine (very reasonable at £18 for four glasses). For the special soirée menu, drinks, coffee and service, it came to approx £50 per head. For everything we had, it was great value. Thanks to the team for making it a really nice evening, will definitely return.

I went with a group of friends as a Christmas celebration and we opted for the Christmas menu. Be aware it is turkey roll. The food was lukewarm, and if the carrots and parsnips were meant to be roasted, they definitely were not. We had no idea what the loosely based description of stuffing was. The pig in blanket was barely cooked, and the only thing I ate were the roast potatoes. I had those because I was hungry, but they were baked not roasted. If I was a chef I would’ve been embarrassed to let food like that go out to the tables. The staff did their best but they were clearly short of waiters and waitresses. When I emailed my complaint I was offered 20% of the next meal. Not even that would make me go back there, and I left feeling very disappointed, as did my friends. I do hope it improves in the future.

When the bill came we were over charged for food not ordered + with a service charge. If I want to tip that's up to me.

Italian bistro in the city center with beautiful decor. A variety of dishes that will please every taste. The main dishes were delicious and filling. The only cold salad on the menu unfortunately disappointed us since it was small in quantity and without many vegetables. The warm salad was far superior! The service is very polite, although a little slow. What particularly spoiled me was the non-existent ventilation that is common in restaurants in England. There is no worse feeling than leaving a nice meal with all your clothes smelling like a kitchen. It is something that prevents me from visiting a store again.

We visited as a couple mid afternoon on the weekend. This is our favourite place to eat & we have given 5 star reviews previously. This time around, the overall experience was below previous visits. It was pretty much empty with very little atmosphere. We were sat near the bar and so could hear staff conversations including management dealing with someone calling in sick for their shift. Easily avoided situation if the manager doesn’t have these conversations in the main restaurant area. The food was of good quality but in short supply, the starters were very small. 3 pieces of calamari on one and 3 small pieces of bread on the other was pathetic really. We had a ‘free’ bread board which was charged for. The drinks were good wine nice but didn’t get it get it until after food arrived, no water offered. Bill was incorrect at the end. Service wasn’t great. Wasn’t a terrible experience just nowhere near previous levels.

The communication of the serving staff was not brilliant. Slightly irritated by the automatic addition of a 10% service charge on the bill, I do tip but I resent that it be assumed and automatically added, thus putting the customer on the spot to take it off if not willing to tip. Also, we had to wait an awkward amount of time to leave because they didn't acknowledge that I had paid a £10 deposit; it felt like they couldn't deal with such a simple situation. I was made to feel like I did something wrong, it shouldn't have happened. It was a good job I pointed this out because I would have ended up being charged £10 extra. We both ordered the Fishcake Nicoise for lunch and whilst the fishcakes were very good the accompanying salad certainly was not. The new potatoes were awful, very dry with black areas that had to be cut out. It didn't look like they had been recently cooked. The salad leaves were particularly withered and at home would have gone straight into our compost bin. The waitress was apologetic and said that she would speak to the manager although he never appeared to say that he was sorry that the kitchen had thought it ok to serve up such poor food to paying customers. How difficult is it to serve up properly cooked new potatoes that look edible along with fresh salad leaves. Obviously for the chef that prepared our meals too difficult or maybe the chef just didn't care! Not impressed at all!

We certainly couldn't fault the service, and full marks to the waitress who had politely returned to our table to collect our orders as we'd been chatting so much! We all ordered from the 3 course menu, and there was nothing but clean plates from us. Probably the stand out dishes were the Camenbert starter and the Pork Medallions. The Chocolate Pots went down well too! By 1, the restaurant was very busy - and at these prices I can see why. I'd happily eat here again!

For a Sunday afternoon of fine dining one can't go wrong, when ones fiance plays golf. Starter and Main washed down by a lovely glass of pinot noir. Shame you don't do the lil stamp on the card anymore.. I've kept them just in case.cest la vie.

Food was alright, but the waiter could not say if or when breakfast was on. They also did not make me feel confident that they could accommodate for coeliac disease/gluten free.

Hit or miss, either a really good food experience or quite poor- I would reccomend visiting on a quieter weekday around midday-ish if you want to ensure the food is quality!!! The waiting staff are usually quite lovely but I would suggest to get some new chefs in or give them a raise!!!

So it seems , they’ve changed the menu , not impressed , no beef Bourgogne included on the bistro menu .. opted for steak frites , a little ropey . And well sticky toffee pudding now is a Madeline with sauce on the top .. yuk .. I was not happy about these changes at all . Staff are always nice but our order went a wry , but I’d like to add apologies were made .

I use to love this place, but not any more, food cold, staff clearing the table before we had finished, no atmosphere. Not like it was. Shame.

A lovely atmosphere, especially in the evenings. The food is routinely great and the service is as one would expect of a good restaurant. The prices are reasonable and it would be a great place to treat the respective other to a date night!

Good food. Early bird menu (before 5pm ISH usually) is a bargain (2 or 3 course fixed price menu with lots of choice). Good service. Good food. Offers in-app.

We attended lunch on a Saturday afternoon for the Valentines 3 course meal. The food was mouthwatering, fresh and delicious, especially the crème brûlée. The restaurant was busy and we found the waitress attentive, not rushing us to free the table. Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you 😊

Very disappointed, we booked for valentines meal, received a confirmation email and then 6 hours before the booking received an email saying the booking had been cancelled tried calling and were told it was valentines weekend so they wouldn’t help. Dont book here you will be left with no booking at the last moment when everything else is booked up.

Oh my!! I always rave about BP. But it has now gone better. My usual starter yum, don't know what or who did that but the best I have had. Main, pork medallions off £10 menu, please keep it on menu. Then paris breast. Didn't know whether to to eat it or paint a picture. Awesome. And awesome staff too.

Visited on a cold and windy Tuesday in January and was glad to find the place warm and welcoming on arrival. Great choice of dishes and I enjoyed every one. Staff all friendly and attentive. Never had to wait a second with an empty glass. Lime and soda a very reasonable £1! Only negative for me is it’s cashless which I’m against, but it wasn’t me paying on this occasion so can’t really complain. Couple next to me had the taster style menu available on alternate Tuesdays and it looked incredible. Great value too. Will be back.

Really not worth a visit.Ordered a sous vide pork shoulder which arrived at the table as tough as leather. How the cooks managed that in a sous vide i have no clue. Sent it back and was sent an overcooked steak in place of it. Left.Typical chain restaurant garbage. Just walk on past, as to be completely honest you will be better off at Mcdonalds.
