Le Hatch in Dover

A very disappointing experience. The fish batter was greasy and not very crisp. The chips were not the best, thin and, again, greasy; the portion was too big for a normal appetite. I suspect the cooking oil was not as hot as it should have been as it was a quiet time, late afternoon. The price was top of the range at £10.30 for a medium cod and (too many) chips so I would have expected better. They could quite easily reduce the portion size and take the cost under £10. The staff were friendly and welcoming however, so an extra point for that.

I wanted to find things wrong...... Anything based on the reviews........ Thursday 19th December 8pm visit and maybe the floor needed to be mopped! Chips were freshly cooked and were perfect! 3 pieces of chicken that were not greasy at all and also fresh! So much better than KFC for flavour! 6 of the best wings I've ever had..... Anywhere! Boiling hot..... Tasty.... Crunchy...... Meaty! Gravy was hot and thick tasty! Brilliant Job!!!

With big chains nearby it is easy to overlook this little place, but please don’t! It has a lovely atmosphere and a good selection of lunchtime foods and plenty of different drinks. Every one of our party was able to try a different flavour milkshake!

We ordered online for their Pizza special. The pizza was good and value for money. It arrived on time and the driver followed the instruction to phone (we were staying in a hotel). There was another delivery to the hotel and it also smelle dreally good.
