Went there for Boxing Day with my family expecting high expectations Food was very small positions,and overpriced I had to ask the staff if it was a kids portion to the reply “it’s a adult portion, I would never go there again, it spoiled our family meal on Boxing Day, staff was great but food was underrated I would advise everyone to keep clear of this place

Dirty menus. Worst food ever. Smell bad. Overcooked

Booked for 9 for Christmas dinner. Booked for 14:30. Great welcome and chocolates on the table. Great service and always asked if everything was OK and do we need anything. Food was really nice and served in good time and not rushed. Defo booking again for 2025.

We’d been here plenty of times and both food and service had been great. Came today as a family of 4 and unfortunately pretty much half of the menu is unavailable although nothing was said to us when the menus were handed to us. Kids were starving otherwise we would have walked out.

We booked our table for 2.45 on Christmas day, We had to prepay a month in advance and it was £65 per head without drinks. We finally got seated at 3.30. The service was awful [ not enough staff ] I don't think I saw our poor waitress smile once. We waited almost 90 minutes for our food, and eventually got out of there at 6pm. There was no music playing, no atmoshere and the food was dire.. It was tasteless, the portions were very very small [ I literally had 4 strands of cabbage ] it was cold and dry. No wonder you had to pay in advance !.....AVOID !!

Here for Christmas dinner, all booked, paid and food prep chosen. Table for 2.45,sested at 3,25. Starter came quite quickly but I'm still here at 4.38 still waiting for our mains. Just been told we still have one ticket in front of us. 1 person serving at bar and one person to serve our area. Terrible service just ignored no info from staff or explaining. First and last time. Avoid at all cost. Wish me luck

Had our Christmas dinner at the Liberty Bell today and have nothing but for the staff. When we got there the staff were very welcoming. Got to out table and found a box of chocolates for the adults and a little tin of coins for my two granddaughters. The service was amazing. All the food came out quickly and piping hot. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. I would highly recommend going here.

The Beefeater staff were commendably clear about handling allergies and provided me with a file which included a breakdown of all dishes, which I greatly appreciated. However, the experience was marred by some frustrations. They were facing supplier issues that limited their menu options, and the food we did receive was bland and took a long time to arrive at the table. Additionally, it was quite challenging to get the server's attention when needed.

Had a lovely meal today. Food was great. Emma our waitress was outstanding, very friendly, happy and helpful. Thank you very much. Have a great Christmas Emma and staff at Liberty Bell.

Food was good when it arrived but waited so long to order drink only 2 of us then same again with the food ordering waited too long the poor waitresses were run off their feet but didn't even look over to see if we wanted anything seem to concentrate more on big tables that were there..for this time of year 1 week before Christmas they were totally understaffed. Ery disappointing evening for my husbands birthday.

Do you want to close this Restaurant down ?. If this is the plan you are going the right way about it. The food was poorly cooked not very hot and very late to the table. I recommend you do NOT dine here.

Booked for 2 people for the Christmas menu, one being a vegan.When seated the server had a list of items unavailable. No turkey, no vegan option and another 7 or so items from the menu missing. The same thing happened last year. The vegan option was a dry piece of quorn. It came with 2 broccoli sticks, gravey and some roast potatoes. The price 19 95! A child on another table had a bigger portion of food then my adult daughter was presented with. My roast dinner came was a bland piece of chicken. Brussels hard, stuffing burnt . I could not understand why my daughter was not at least given brussels, carrots and cabbage as I had. We were seated at 6.20pm left and 8.30pm Service slow. We had 2 courses each. Main and dessert. The guy that seated us was nice. . The server was very slow. No pace, and not over busy either. We have been coming here for years. Its not the same as it was. The music went from Christmas to random songs. No atmosphere at all. We went home and had to cook and order in as we were still hungry. Will not be returning. Such a shame we used to have a lovely Christmas dinner here.

Great food great service but not the warmest of places to eat

The food was nice, but there was nowhere near enough staff to serve customers. We waited so long to order a drink and our mains. To order dessert, we had to try and grab the attention of someone and who did help, but they didn't clear our table. We were in there 2 and a half hours. It was quite cold in there as well.The staff were run off their feet, and our waitress should have finished at 3 and was still there when we left. Management really needs to get more staff. I definitely won't be returning

Very long wait for food. On a busy day, expect to wait an hour for each course and to pay. On a non-busy day, you're lucky if food comes within half an hour.

Problem with gas so limited menu. Totally inadequate levels of staff to provide service. This is not the first time I've complained about this.

Can't believe I've been going to this place for many years and never had a problem. The service was super slow, and it wasn't even busy, but normally, the wait is worthwhile. I ordered a mixed grill and was asked how I would like it cooked well done as always . I do understand that a lot of people like to have the steak leaking Myoglobin all over their plate, contaminating the rest of my mixed grill. But not for me !!!!

The room was good. The breakfast warm.

Another great meal at The Liberty Bell. I have used the Liberty Bell over many years as I live locally and it has changed brands many times. The Beefeater menu is uncomplicated and having visited a few times recently I have been impressed by the comfortable surroundings, the quality of the food and above all the staff! The restaurant is clearly very well managed and the staff always polite, helpful and friendly. On the last 2 occasions we have been served by Bailey who is absolutely delightful. He is friendly, professional and a joy to be your waiter. 2 visits close together, now top of our list to eat out in Romford we are looking forward to our next visit and Whilst all the staff are excellent will seek to have Bailey as our server!

I am delighted to be back at this wonderful place, and I must say, the service here is truly exceptional. A special thank you to Abby and her attentive team—they go above and beyond to make sure you’re well taken care of. The food is consistently fantastic, with a menu that offers both quality and variety, making every meal a treat. The ambiance is warm and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and unwind. I highly recommend this place, as I always do! And a special mention for Hasna at reception, who is a genuinely wonderful person. She goes out of her way to make you feel warmly welcomed from the moment you arrive. This place is a gem, and I look forward to coming back again!

Had the free steak beefeater was offering for their 50th birthday I had a table booked for 17:30 arrived around 17:10 and was greeted by a young girl who said someone will be with you soon after 10 minutes and still waiting she came back and said I'm new here and don't know how to operate the computer my manager will be out soon then she came back after another 5 minutes and said my manager has told me what to do and directed us to our table overall the food was nice but the service was hit and miss even though it was not busy no fault to our waitress who was new and learning i think she could of had more support from her colleagues

We ate at 14.30 on Monday, very quiet. I said mushy peas were a bit dry, and the waitress changed them immediately.

We visited Sunday evening 3rd Nov and had excellent service from your new waiter Bailey. He was polite attentive and a credit to himself as a person who built a nice rapport with us and is a very good asset to your restaurant .

Booked a Sunday lunch for a couple. Tried to book an earlier slot but all were full as there was a promotion going on. By the time we ordered lunch (3.45pm) there was no beef or chicken left and just one portion of lamb so ended up having the lamb which was very fatty and tough served with vegetables and over baked potatoes which I ordered to be replaced and this was duly done. This was the second time we have had Sunday lunch at this restaurant and I can assure you it will be our last as standards are not great. I could hear from various tables around us that they were experiencing problems with the food orders as well! Our waiter’s name was Bailey and he did a great job holding it all together and was very professional, friendly, polite and a good listener to all the problems!

Excellent service and attentiveness paid to us by Sheetal. Whenever we have been into this restaurant she has always been chatty and made us feel welcome. Nothing has ever been too much trouble for her.

This place had hardly any staff, it was chaos. Having said that I'd like to give a shout out to Tracey our waitress for Monday morning breakfast. She was pretty much on her own, with over 150 guests.

this is disgusting the chicken was cold for the ultimate Sunday roast they didn't even have mince sauce or mash i swear if your gonna open a restaurant at least top up on your supplies this is disgusting i do not recommend this place

Visit several times a year for family get together, never disappoints!

We stayed at the Premier Inn as a large group of 11 for a family event and due to travelling long distances it made sense to use this Beefeater Evening meal Was great service a bit slow as it was a very busy evening but lovely staff and food unfortunately the whole experience was ruined by the breakfast staff and service I think the ladies name was Vilma she was rude curt unwelcoming and sarcastic although we were earlier than some guests and restaurant was virtually empty her and her colleague were more interested in chatting than taking orders no explanation of where the drinks machine was or the continental etc , they were too busy gossiping , no good morning or a smile or anything curt and unpleasant and dis interested whilst taking our hot food orders (as she was to another table of Dutch guests who didn’t know how the breakfast service worked) food arrived tepid and tasteless couldn’t wait to leave had to wait 10 minutes to pay the bill As both in the kitchen gossiping they have completely let down this establishment who’s dinner service and food was a 9/10 I suggest they are both given customer service and waitress training and are taught how to smile and taught basic manners so rude

This Is a great spot if you like steaks barbecue chicken and wholesome fair. Excellent Wireless and great ambience. My waiter was Swati who was attentive to detail, caring and friendly. We appreciated the entire atmosphere and the mail which was excellently well prepared and very tasty. My particular favorite was the steak, and the onion rings. We look forward to coming back again.

Food was served early, staff is all on-point. Very organised staff. Lovely food. Really enjoyed my experience. Thanks to the lovely staff esp Bailey! x

Had the recently added £20 for 2 course menu with a drink on Saturday. Steak was top notch - melted like butter in the mouth. Fab service from Bailey, who had great patter for such a young man. Great experience!

I was in the liberty bell last night have a quiet drink with my friend and was served at the bar by a member of staff by the name of Peiyce. For someone of her age and experience she was very polite and professional a credit to the establishment. As a person I have managed a pub before and she has great potential and hopefully a great career in front of her.

Booking a reservation through the website is a clear and simple process. Upon arrival, we were met with a warm greeting, and our server was attentive, professional, and courteous. We frequent Liberty Bell for both breakfast and lunch. Their breakfast is fantastic value for money, including a 'full English' option as well as continental, with hot drinks and a selection of juices included. On this occasion, the one major disappointment was the temperature of the hot foot. I understand it's batch cooked and then left in warming containers in the kitchen, but there comes a time where the temperature is no longer sufficient and the food should be replaced with freshly cooked food. Taking nothing away from how tasty the food was, if it was of an acceptable temperature, it would have made it a much more enjoyable experience. Complaining about the food at the time wouldn't have made much difference as food from the same warming containers would have been served as a replacement.

I didn't book I just arrived and was seated in about 1 minute Anna took care of us all night and was very welcoming, kind and was working very hard to look after us! The starter,main and desert came out super quick and was perfect

We came to the restaurant for dinner and we was immediately greeted by the manger who sat us down at a window seat as requested, we were served by a lovely lady Chantelle and she recommended us these excellent cocktails that were divine. We had dinner which was salmon with prawns and it was exceptional and then she recommended the biscoff sundae and I’m glad she did because it was amazing. Overall we enjoyed our dinner and we will be back!!!

Me and my Sister went to Beefeater for dinner, we were greeted at the door and instantly felt welcomed. We both ordered the chicken burger and chips and it was delicious our server was sheetal and she was delightful! Will be back soon and hopefully have sheetal again!!!

Her cheerful attitude and attentive service make every morning a pleasure and truly set the tone for the day. Elyes, Taylor, and Sheetal also make dining at Beefeater a fantastic experience. Elyes’s friendly and meticulous approach ensures everything is just right, while Taylor’s exceptional service and willingness to go above and beyond never fail to impress me. Sheetal brings such enthusiasm and care to her role, making each visit feel special. And Hasna at the Premier Inn reception always greets me with a warm smile, making sure my stay is comfortable and enjoyable. This wonderful team consistently makes me feel welcome and valued, turning every meal into a delightful part of my stay. It’s their exceptional service that makes Beefeater one of my favorite places to dine.

Okay service. Terrible, unseasoned, overcooked food

Typical restaurant chain fare. Staff were friendly, but lunch service was slow. Three had fish & chips which they said was tasty and I had a beef burger which was a bit bland. Very handily attached to the Premier Inn.

Great food and great service! Sheetal was great making sure we had food and drinks and everything was all good. Service was quick, no complaints! So kind and friendly mad us feel so welcome and comfortable. I came for my birthday and received a birthday card and box of malteasers - unexpected but a bonus!

Hadn't booked but was met with a friendly greeting and given a table. Food was lovely, the ribs fell off the bone and the brownie for desert was gorgeous and even better there was vegan icecream. Our server was Sheetal and she was friendly and attentive even though she was obviously busy but nothing was too much trouble. Outside there is a good amount of parking and also an overflow section if it gets too busy although its easy to walk to from Romford shopping area. We have been to the restaurant a number of times and always left full and happy.

Got seated straight away, given menu's, gave drinks order - had to wait a while for them to be delivered, ordered food, waited quite a while for it to appear, we were slightly disappointed with the food, portions cut down, the sausages weren't of great quality, the onion rings looked like they had been reheated and had no taste and 3 out of the 4 fried eggs we were served were hard !! Felt sorry for the staff, they were all trying to do their best and seemed embarrassed by having to serve the food that was coming out from the kitchen. Gemma was upbeat, professional, friendly, and helpful. We did have a voucher that we used and will now only go there if there are offers on !! It's such a shame - that the staff in the 3 Beefeaters that we frequent often have been cut to a bare minimum and generally don't have the time to serve customers as they would like - or they used to !!

I have been coming to the Liberty Bell for years and have always had excellent food. However, today, I was quite disgusted with the portion size. I ordered salmon which came with grilled vegetables and potatoes. The salmon was overcooked and dry. I had one tiny boiled potato cut in half, two thin slices of pepper, two tiny pieces of courgette and one thin piece of asparagus. All for £16.99. I spoke to the waiter who looked a bit embarrassed as he explained that the potato portion went by weight, which did little to explain the paltry serving. Any other restaurant would have apologised and bought another serving of potatoes to keep the customer happy. There wasn't even really an apology. I don't think I will come here again.

Congratulations on having an entire meat-free menu! That's outstanding among the restaurants in Romford and Hornchurch.

Affordable food good service I can recommend for families

Pleasant enough dining here, but felt that service although reasonable wasn't as attentive as could have been even though it seemed quiet when we were there. Staff were friendly, and put up with elderly relative's inappropriate comments.

Such a lovely place, great service, people are friendly and always helpful, you can see they all help eachother. Incredible team effort, I would recommend their food and drinks. The Men and Women that work here are always nice, always making sure you are welcomed when you step through the door. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Just to reference Bill in his one star review, the lady you refer to is called Jackie and she is wonderful. "There is never no-one behind the bar" so there's always someone there? We've been coming here for 20 years, senior management will always screw with staffing levels as they look to cut costs. Everyone who works here works extremely hard covering far more than they should really have to. Bill, drink and eat somewhere else.

Bill, the woman you’re referring to is called Jackie. She is the most attentive and positive of bar and restaurant staff in the beefeater. Her customer service skills are exceptional and she is kind to everyone she serves. Your comments are appalling and rude. Very hypocritical of you to call her names but criticise her service.

There is never no one behind the bar take 20mins to get anyone to come and serve you every time, and the blonde old girl behind the bar I believe she may be the manager but not sure has the attitude of a starved pig rudest old bat I have ever come across

Really average. Nice enough, but not anything special, even for a steak chain. When there are Harvester and Toby around the corner, probably better off there. Billing is confusing and service mediocre. There is on site parking, but only for 3 hours so they really don't want you to hang around.

Amazing place, staff very helpful (Abby) polite. Restaurant was clean and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing, great choice, perfectly cooked. Would 100% recommend. Lovey experience.

Admittedly a Monday but there weren’t enough staff on duty. The bar was left unattended with people waiting. Two of the waiting staff very direct and unfriendly. Food was Beefeater food.

Had lunch here from the varied special lunch time menu and I found the food very good and at a very reasonable cost the beer wasn’t bad either, I had Doom Bar and it was served very well to me, I just hope you experience to same service and quality of food that I did when you visit this place so keep it in mind for a try out if you are in Romford or close to the area!

Food is good, menu the same as any other. Staff are friendly and polite at times, but have no idea of disability awareness no offer of help to people with walking difficulties carrying stuff to breakfast table. And the way they would not let one family sit at a nearer table to save struggling saying no we can't do breakfast at that table it has to be over here. Make an exception for once they would have really appreciated it.

We both Went to the liberty bell for an evening meal, and as always could not have asked for a better evening,the meal I had chargrilled king prawn and vegetable skewers was delicious and the chicken and ribs combo that my partner had was really nice and cooked just right.as always stayed for drinks at the bar we tried 1 of the new drinks on offer the tropical rum with coke and ended up having many more.a big thank you to all the staff who give 100 percent especially steve behind the bar who served us most of the night and kept us entertained nice to have the bar open until late again.see you all again very soon

I was greeted on my arrival to the restaurant by Steph who made me very welcome. I enjoyed a wonderful lunch on Wednesday 3/7, also served by Steph, who was very professional. She was working so hard as it was busy but still found the time to make sure I had everything I wanted. She is very pleasant and polite to all the customers. She deserves a recommendation for all her hard work.

Lovely food and great service Went there with family for my birthday., . The food and service is always good They can’t do enough for you .and staff always do their best to accommodate you . I have been going there for years and have never had any problems .The food menu is very reasonable and with the reward card there are always special offers available It’s has nice atmosphere and you are never rushed . Staff very accommodating both with adult and children . Can highly recommend it it both lunchtime and evening dining . I got treated to a bottle of fizz as it was my birthday, which was a lively gesture. Will be coming back soon .

I can hardly believe how well everything turned out tonight, especially given the challenging and, frankly, unpleasant individuals who tried to cause trouble.. Despite this, Anna, Abbie, Sheeetal, and Frankie handled these difficult people with remarkable skill. It was a great evening, thanks to their efforts, even when dealing with individuals who seemed more suited to a zoo.

Service was a bit slow due to only having 2 staff members working. Ordered 4 starters as my meal 3 arrived together last one came once l was done eating which didn't make any sense at all.

We had a lovely evening meal with friends and family for a birthday celebration. Our server was Sheetal, she was so lovely, really friendly and very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for her, she is very hard working, serving several tables at the same time, but always smiling and pleasant. She is a real asset to the Liberty Bell, she made our visit very special.

Went there with my elderly in-laws as they had vouchers for discounts. Service was a bit slow, the young server did apologise each time, but it was slow none the less. The crust on my beef and ale pie was very hard and difficult to cut with a knife without it shooting off the plate. The meal was reasonably priced so I suppose you get what you pay for.

States on the info closes at 2300, closed at 2200 the night I stayed in the Premier inn next door, was still a good few customers in, they just shut up shop, was told had to order food by 2130 and then bar closed at 2200, they couldn't wait for us to leave, disappointing really .

Lovely food plenty of choice even for the parents. Couldn't afford to get wrecked in bar too exppensive

Can't comment on the food as the staff, in fact Emmalee the manager, was so rude did not even eat in there. Tables not cleared and generally very untidy. Will not go back again after this experience.
