Little Asia in South Hams

We go here regularly for Chinese food and it’s brilliant! Staff are very friendly, food is delicious and the price is fair. We normally have a takeaway meal but have also eaten in a few times which is worth it! Duck pancakes and curry is the best! Highly recommend.

Why have I not tried Little Asia before? What a loss it has been. Recently, friends and I ordered a takeaway, including delivery. To say we were impressed is an understatement. The food was delivered on time and by a polite and friendly delivery person. The food itself stood out from other takeaways we've had this year. The quality is higher, and the meat content quantity is above what you normally get. Impressive from beginning to end. Many thanks, Little Asia!

A tiny restaurant near the top of Fore St. You need to book otherwise they are geared for takeaways. We had crispy chilli beef and king prawns with ginger and spring onions, both top notch. The serving staff were lovely too.

We ordered a large takeaway for 13 of us. The food was excellent, customer service was fantastic and nothing was forgotten. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

Had a great takeaway from Little Asia tonight. We had sweet and sour tofu and chicken, beef satay, mushroom chow mein, chicken fried rice, veg fried rice, salt and chilli prawns and curry sauce. The food was portioned well and in no way greasy. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Rang to order a takeaway, after some deliberation they said they wouldn’t deliver to me (13 minutes away) because my order wasn’t big enough essentially. Ordered a takeaway for collection. It was AWFUL and left me feeling ill all night. Egg fried rice was dry with little to no egg. Tofu was overcooked and oily. The smell of it was like it had been cooked in dirty oil. Sweet and sour sauce was sharp and vinegary. Overall very unpleasant. Not sure what the fuss and good reviews are about. I won’t be returning.

Maybe they were having an off day, but the food was truly terrible last night. Maybe they are struggling to get suitable staff. They are back on form. Everything much better!

Also best takeaway in town. Great atmosphere inside, good tasty food well prepared and reasonable prices. The owner and all of the staff give beyond brilliant service, be it takeaway or dining in. They are all very friendly, kind and will cater as much as they can to your needs. Definitely recommended!

If I could leave a zero I would. My wife and I requested a table (it was empty) and was told by the lady greeting us that our service could be slow as she needs to attend to the take away service. (Didn’t seem to want us in the restaurant) I could not believe that she literally put us off from entering the restaurant due to the takeaway service. Good luck with level of service, you’re going to need it.

We have visited this restaurant for the last 10 years together. They have looked after us really well at the restaurant as well as Home deliveries. My partner and I are both vegetarian and the owner always goes the extra mile to make sure that we have a good selection to choose from, and the food is catered to our needs. The restaurant has also hosted large groups that we have brought with us, and made sure everybody was comfortable and seen to very quickly. The food is really tasty and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating.

I have had a few takeaways now from Little Asia and the service is always amazing. The food has always been delicious and ive had a variety from Little Asia. They have a great selection on the menu and the ladies that answer the phone and serve you are always so freindly and helpful. I would highly recommend and will return again!

This place is a little gem always a good bet . Sometimes incredibly busy but ALWAYS polite and friendly. With any cooked to order food it can have slight variations. But always a minimum of good to somewhat excellent in standard. We always have chicken , beef or duck. 10/10 for the very hard working chef .

Had an amazing meal in the restaurant. We have had the takeaways before which have been stunning but haven't eaten in. The service was really good, lots of check backs done and food was amazing, despite it being a Saturday night and they were very busy with takeaways. Highly recommended

Bit pricier than other takeaways

I have been a regular here for years. I have also tried the other Asian/Chinese takeaways in Totnes, but Little Asia is the best. The boss is always cheerful and helpful, the service is quick and the food is reliably good. The few bad reviews for Little Asia just don't ring true and probably say more about the reviewers than Little Asia. I don't know how many times I have eaten from here, but it's probably around the 200 mark. I can't remember a bad experience in all that time.

It's always a pleasure here. Quick, friendly service. The boss is always cheerful and helpful. And the food is consistently great.

Wow, what a find, superb place. I had quite possibly the best ever Vegetarian Singapore noodles I have ever tasted, so fresh and so please they do not use MSG! lovely attentive service and a great location in the heart of Totnes. I have not had such a good meal for a long time, and cannot wait to return. Highly recommended!

Had another visit to this restaurant Sunday 16th July. Once again food prepared fresh on premises they were able to cater for my wife,s dairy egg, and gluten free request. The restaurant was decorated nicely, the food was tasty, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. This place us worth a visit! Thank you Lin and staff!

My second time here and delighted I ordered the Chicken Rendang with egg fried rice. It was delicious and had the perfect level of heat and slight sweetness of pineapple(?). I was impressed with the size f the portion and think they should charge more. Looking forward to going back soon and sampling something else

Wow what a real little beauty of a place this is. You can easily miss this place as its tiny but it makes up for it in food quality and atmosphere. The lady owner and her chef son are the most friendly people ever and the quality of the food is simply amazing. I would highly recomend this little restaurant to anyone and they also do takeaway

We chose to go for dinner at Little Asia whilst on a family holiday in Totnes. We were blown away by the warm welcome we received from the restaurant owner (so sorry we didn’t catch your name!) and her family. We had such a relaxing evening and such beautiful food too. We are three vegetarians and one vegan and we had no trouble choosing options - I highly recommend the Malaysian curry, yum! We were made to feel extremely welcome and attended to thoughtfully all night. We will absolutely be returning. Thank you!

Very helpful friendly staff, but somehow they managed to burn my Singapore noodles. Sadly I was in a rush so could not send it back. I think the problem was a la k of oil in the wok. It was dry burned, not burned overall. Not something I every imagined could happen to a stir fry!

Awful food, I had a prawn Thai curry and the prawns tasted like they were going off, the sauce was full of sugar and did not resemble a Thai curry at all. My friend had a chow mein which was hard noodles with no sauce, really disgusting. The restaurant was freezing cold, with dirt and old flooring tiles ripped up everywhere which is a health hazard. The woman who works there was rude and abrupt to everyone including the staff who were rushing around not knowing what to do, the girl who worked looked like she was going to cry. Bad atmosphere. I can’t even believe this place is allowed to open to the public.

I love this little restaurant. The Singapore noodles, roast duck and Mango sauce in particular. The owners are so nice and friendly, the atmosphere calm, food delicious, take away service spectacular. the family love having a Little Asia night.

Really generous with the food tonight. We had the fixed meal for 2 and it was sufficient for Four at least. Very tasty indeed and delivery was aso excellent time. We will be back but I think for maybe a smaller meal. We have eough for tomorrows meal. GREAT STUFF Little Asia./

I had gone off this place the last few years as I had thought the prices were too high and portions too small. But I have to say tonight it was really good and probably cheaper than the other takeaways in town now (Golden Phoenix cough cough*) plus free prawn crackers - a commodity these days! I know many places are hit and miss but if it was the same as tonight's then I'd definitely order from here again as my top choice for Chinese in Totnes. Thanks

We waited a long time for the starters, which were mediocre and wait equally as long for our main meal which we had to ask to take away. We waited far too long and were committed elsewhere. Won't be back

Had takeaway and the food was awful. Salt & Chilli squid was like eating leather and the curry I had just tasted of pure salt - no flavour whatsoever. Rest of family had similar viewpoint - threw it in the bin in the end it was so bad. Some of the worst takeaway food I have ever had.

Hate leaving negative reviews but I can’t not say anything as I think you guys need to employ a new chef? Possibly, the worst Thai Green curry ever made? As if it was created by someone who had been roughly told what a Thai green curry was and then asked to cook one with out any of the essential ingredients. In it’s favour it was hot, sweet, chilli flavoured and had a fair potion of prawns chucked in. Not sure about the broccoli and sliced carrots however… seemed more like a random assortment of leftovers in the kitchen bunged together to make a kinda odd soup? The boiled rice was ok….

Food isn't bad but portions are small considering price, my ginger and spring onion king prawn tub (£8! Said £7 on the menu) was only half full at most, so be aware of that, also that prices have gone up considerably and are not the same as the current menu available online which is always a surprise when you're not aware until the food arrives at your door with the receipt! £39 and not even a little bag of free crackers... Used to be a courtesy for the customers everywhere, now even those will cost you a good few quid.

Honestly, no word of a lie - the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Ordered ribs, Tom yum and Thai green curry and chop suey (as the Thai options are very restricted). Everything had a grey, staleness and the curry was actually like grey dishwater....

Special price on Tuesdays to takeaway! Great plan noodles and crispy tofu. I would recommend when you need a good meal in just 15 minutes.

Not the best, I have been to Thailand twice a year for over 20 years. Never had Thai food like this, we came home with our takeaway, had a few mouthfuls and started cooking! Cheap , cheerful, plentiful. But low quality.

This place has become a personal favourite. The food is great; two of my favourites are chicken satay skewers and the owner makes the veg spring rolls herself (highly recommend!) Friendly service and yummy food.

Little Asia is a family favourite in our house, and is consistently delicious! The staff are always very friendly, the price is good, and the food comes quick and tasty! Couldn't recommend more. My favourite are the vegetarian spring rolls, hand made on site, yum!

Started off badly when I asked for a phone call when they arrived outside due to a sleeping child. Was ignored and they rang the doorbell. Food was terrible. Duck was dry and so chewy. The beef rendang was closer to being a French onion soup... so much onion!!!! Beef was chewy and not slow cooked like a rendang should be. Will never be ordering from here again!! The only saving grace was the prawn crackers...

Absolutely appalling items marked vegetarian/vegan on the menu you have now been confirmed to have fish sauce in it and the owner refuses to cook without I will never step foot or buy from this place if you are vegetarian vegan I suggest you are very careful

Had a brilliant evening at Little Asia. The owner & waitress were really friendly. The food was fabulous. We had the set meal for 2 (B) & every dish (all 4 plus the sharing platter!) were delicious.

It was really good but the last few times the food is really bad quality! Really watery and no flavour. And when you order delivery they often forget or mess up the order, and takes about 2 hours to arrive.

My wife and I ate here after reading good reviews, I was a little suspicious the moment we entered the so called restaurant, the lady that greeted us (well not really greeted but more of a look of "what do you want) we have since found out was the owner, did not smile and just told one of the two very young waiters (english by the way so no authenticity) to show us to a table, which, to my wife's disappointment was upstairs, (she has recently had a knee operation and climbing stairs hurts) when we did get upstairs it was a soulless place with no background music, no upstairs toilet and a little cold. I was so looking forward to eating chinese as I haven't had one for a while and ordered crab and sweetcorn soup, crispy beef, egg fried rice and my wife had crispy duck, we also had a bottle of house white. The soup was watery and tasteless and when our mains arrived I guess this is when we should of complained, but being British we politely gave the meal the benefit of the doubt and got stuck in, my crispy beef was dry and an overpowering taste of dijon mustard was just terrible, since when does dijon mustard get used in chinese cuisine? the rice dry and my wife's duck completely dry and cold pancakes, the only half good thing was the wine but way over priced, I've bought the same thing in a supermarket for under a fiver and they charged £22. £64 we will for ever regret spending in this awful establishment and the regimental style owner needs to learn some customer etiquette
