Best tasting coffee in area that is well made. Whether that's a glass white, Americano or something else. Nice selection of generously filled bagels. The salt beef with mustard and gherkins is a particular favourite. Also a good selection of cakes and other treats, with some homemade and delicious. Friendly and efficient staff, and with reasonable prices.

We visited with our 2 young kids, on a friends recommendation. We had coffees, smoothies and cakes. This is a tiny little place so don't expect a huge array of stuff to eat, there isn't the space to display tonnes of cakes etc. The bagels looked incredible (loved the uniqueness of coffee and bagels as a concept) and everyone eating them on tables nearby looked really happy with them. The pastel de nata was gorgeous and the coffee was the best we have had in a really long time, and we REALLY like coffee. Staff were really friendly and easy going with our kids which is always a plus. They were quick off the mark to come and clean a table we sat ourselves at (which we hadn't even noticed was dirty). Others came in and ordered takeaway asking if they could sit for a short while with their coffees and they were told this was no problem. The negative reviews below don't match with our experience! I'll be back for sure.

As the title says, probably needs a rating between average and very good. Average is a bit harsh but very good is a bit generous. I'll explain why. There is parking on the road right outside the shop, but it's limited. There is a large carpark behind the premises within a short walk, so you're better off parking here We visited for breakfast as 4- 2 adults and 2 children. I'd read good things about their bagels so was looking forward to it. The bagels are all pre-made. I'm sure they are pre made on the premises (so technically homemade) but what you see is what you get. For example, a double sausage bagel with spread already in the bagel will set you back £5. It's already precooked (I assume for speed) so it is then warmed to serve. It did taste good, but doing it this way means there is absolutely no deviation from what's on offer Something as simple as not having spread can't be accommodated (or couldn't when we asked) because they've already been made. Same for any amendments in ingredients. So really if you're going for bagels, be prepared you get what you're given (and what's left). There is a decent selection of coffee available and that was the highlighted. Tasted really good. Previous reviews have mentioned rude staff. I wouldn't say rude, but the place is clearly well used by locals who know the workings. We arent locals and just popped in passing. There was a feeling of "god, don't you know how things work". Not rude by any stretch, but far from warm and welcoming. Again, better than average but not very good Overall, food was decent, coffee was fab, prices were reasonabl, just didn't live up to expectations

We visited today after hearing a mixture of reviews and can definitely state this is one to miss! When I politely asked the blonde barista if it was possible to sit inside, I abruptly got told no, the tables are too close together and to order and take away. We were not looking to have takeout coffee but felt so inclined that we did. We were then told to ‘go outside to wait’ in the pouring rain!!!! At this stage another couple walked in and sat right down on a table and then got abruptly told to leave by members of staff, upsetting the lady to the point she left cursing, proclaiming never to be back! The whole experience was ridiculous and embarrassing the only thing that made up for it was a decent balanced cup of coffee which I cannot complain about!

We visited today for tea and cake. Unfortunately it was a really bad experience. The place was busy and service slow. Our coffee was just warm and the cake was so sweet that we could only eat half. When we tried to raised our concerns with the waitress she had a bad attitude and kept us waiting for ages. She then suggested that our coffee was only cold because we hadn't drunk it quickly enough and that she didn't know what to do about the cake as we had eaten quite a lot of it. Her attitude was dreadful and she basically appeared not to want to do anything about our issues. My mother is 81 and frail and it was unpleasant and embarrassing being treated this way in front of many customers. We said that we couldn't eat the cake but she suggested that she wrap it so that we could take it home to avoid giving us a refund. I did ask if there was a manager available but apparently not. In the end we negotiated a refund for the coffees and left. Obviously profit comes before customer satisfaction. I am shocked and appalled at her bad attitude. She was not interested or empathetic in any way and made us feel really uncomfortable. So beware- don't ever complain about anything at the Little Red Roaster. I think you can always judge a place by how they deal with problems. After all nowhere is ever perfect. We will never ever go back.

I visited today as Mark Bennett’s across the road was unexpectedly closed. It is very cramped inside and I had to share a table with someone. The seating - while clearly part of the vibe and decoration there - is very uncomfortable and I think they need some softer chairs. The staff were polite. This is definitely a dog lovers place - dogs are allowed inside, and therefore, are everywhere. I saw a waitress nearly trip on a dog while serving. If you don’t like dogs under your table.. you’re doomed. The coffee itself is actually nice, but I couldn’t imagine having coffee with a friend here, due to the cramped and busy atmosphere, and the likelihood of their not being a table to sit at. I felt rushed to finish and leave, as people were waiting around for tables with their dogs.

We sought out this coffee shop for our first flat white on our arrival in Poole after completing our final section of the SWCP. Lovely decor inside; friendly service and a pretty good flat white coffee, although a slightly bitter roast which precludes me from awarding the fifth star. I don't like to hate on independent places and the coffee was wonderful but there was a death in the air and that was emitting from the older woman behind the counter that must be the owner because the 2 younger ones were cool and Bubbly! It was like she was being punished for being there! Like a head mistress on a school trip! Haha! music should have been louder that may have drowned out the negative vibes. But saying all this the coffee is great and out of the 3 times Iv visited the coffee has always been great hence the reason I still gave it a 4 stars. Maybe it was just a bad day for her, you don't know what goes on in people's lives so I will be coming again. Smile! FYI: why not sell freshly made croissants & pastries from independent bakeries? Out came a delicious Hommety Pie accompanied by salad and home made chutney - all at a ridiculously low price because it was 'thrown together'. I made up for their generosity in the tip box but wow, how lovely to receive such kindness. Thank you, it made my day. To the owner please appreciate your staff :))

I've been several times for the coffee only, but the last time there were two large dogs, tail wagging over tables and the roasting machine and heads/tongues on tables, and all this with food being served. Not for me anymore unfortunately as the coffee is high quality.

This little eatery in Ashley Cross is a little gem - it's a coffee house and micro-roastery, offering an immense variety of different coffees and teas. Together with an amazing variety of bagels and the most delicious home made quiches served with a variety of salads including delicious home made coleslaw. It lacks the pretentious attitude of most of the surrounding eateries in Ashley Cross in fact the staff were friendly and couldn't be more helpful and patient when we kept changing our order! Great place to relax with a great coffee. The prices are also not pretentious in fact very reasonable for the most delicious coffee, salad and cake. They also have gluten free products and an amazing looking breakfast!A great discovery - we will be back.

Have used this several times in the past week. A place for coffee connoisseurs! Have not tried the food, but interesting menu. Highly recommended for coffee alone.

I've been going to the Little Red Roaster for a couple of years now and it's been very consistent. To start with, their drinks (both teas and coffees) are of excellent quality. There aren't very many seats inside and, as I normally go on a Saturday, it is always busy! They have excellent bagels. My favourites are the smoked salmon with cream cheese and capers bagel, as well as the chilli dog bagel. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is great. One of my favourite places to go for a coffee around Poole.

Came for coffee and cake on Monday, nearly tripped over a smelly dog's tail which really should not have been allowed so close to the food counter. Couldn't eat my cake as it was doughy, we mentioned it very politely only to be rudely told by the foreign waitress that was how it was meant to be. She kept saying that she wouldn't be charging for the cake but we didn't get a refund!!Very strange behaviour! Won't be going back.

This is one of the few places I have been where they roast the beans on site. The choice is huge, coffee from every corner of the world, prepared the way you want it. A wonderful experience in an establishment that makes you feel at home and relaxed. If you like good coffee then this is the only place you ever need to visit.

We visited this establishment on a Tuesday lunch time. There was outdoor seating available we chose to sit there and watch the world go by. Orders were taken at the table, but I would note you had to go inside when you wanted to pay. We both ordered Ham egg and chips, which was disappointing. The egg ( yes only 1) was cooked in a ring ( very McDonald’s esq) and was very overdone. No runny yolk as one would expect with this dish to dip chips and ham into. The Ham was ok, and the chips passable but sparse. I’d say possibly we made a bad decedent with what we ordered, however it’s not difficult to get this british staple meal right. I’d say overpriced based on our meal that day. I wouldn’t choose to go back. On a side note and this is outside of the proprietors control. We were bothered several times by shady characters whilst sat outside establishment. All trying to sell counterfeit or stolen perfume and tobacco. They are quite persistent and off putting.

Tasty breakfast here with family on a short visit to Poole. Highly recommend it. It was busy when we went and I can see why.

Today my husband and I had roast lamb and fresh vegetables. It was freshly cooked stuffing Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and tasty gravy. Thank you to Debbie ( staff) for friendly service. Recommend to anyone who enjoys a Sunday roast to try Millies Cove first.

Seven of us (family) stopped here whilst on Poole Quay area for an afternoon drink. Great, friendly service and good quality house wines at £19 per bottle. Cosy and friendly atmosphere. On our favourite list.
