It had been my intention to visit the more popular and possibly better known Caffe Marconi nearby - reputedly one of the best venues for breakfast in Harrogate - but discovered to my surprise and disappointment that it doesn't open till 9am. That is far too late for breakfast on a weekday. And so, I was fortunate not to have to travel too far to discover this place, hidden away in one of the pedestrian side streets nearby. It was just after 8am and they were open! Whilst a full breakfast was not on the menu, I treated myself to a quite substantial eggs royale - poached eggs with smoked salmon on a toasted English muffin, topped with creamy hollandaise sauce. Delicious! With the bill coming in at £11.70 with orange juice, it is not cheap, but it is definitely the best eggs royale I've ever sampled. Great location. Pleasant decor. Friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Terrible service. Half the menu was”off” with very limited alternatives. Took 25 minutes to have serve a simple toastie. Apparently they were run off their feet although we only counted 9 customers. Kitchen staff might want to use spatula’s instead of poking and prodding food with their hands. Don’t know what’s happened here but it’s not good!

First visit to this cafe as we were heading home, decent array of items available some state upto 11.30 others from 11.30 but they’re really flexible with options, we had the cheese & red onion toastie it was delicious, also a ham & cheese one, lattes were really tasty too, hubby had bacon & egg which was lovely but egg was extra at £1.50, whilst there have been increases everywhere with cost of living, think 75p would have been more reasonable, that aside it was very nice!

Food was ok, staff didn't seem that friendly and they didn't clear tables even though no one wanted serving

I used to love LMDC but hadn’t been in a year or so. My partner and I went for breakfast. The atmosphere wasn’t inviting and the staff were chatting to each other and reading out text messages on their phone like no one was around. Worst of all for the whole of our breakfast we had to listen to the staff loudly talk about dog sick! Such an inappropriate topic of discussion, very unprofessional. Completely put us off our food.

Went to get a quick coffee after work and I’ll definitely be coming again. The coffee was good and had pretty latte art on top, super friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely little gem in the centre of Harrogate!

Excellent little find in the very centre of Harrogate! After a busy day shopping me and my friend stopped by for a coffee and cake. I had the homemade Christmas cake which was served with a chunky wedge of white Stilton and my friend had a slice of chocolate orange cake which she said was delicious! Menu choices were very good including vegan and gluten free options also. All the staff were lovely and friendly, we would certainly recommend and we will be returning soon!

Unfortunately, LMDC is not what it used to be. Having visited last year at a similar time it was a very warm and cosy little café. A year later it’s a cold and uninviting place to go. The coffee was okay but tasted generic… one of the staff members was more interested in her phone than serving customers and the food quality has severely dropped. Myself and my family won’t be visiting again which is such a shame.

We stumbled across this place while looking for a place to have a coffee with my parents. I had a lovely strong Americano, my fiance had a marvellous looking luxury hot chocolate, while Mum and Dad had a bacon butty each. Food was lovely, the girls in the shop were very nice and the service was fab. Will deffo go back.

Good coffee and great breakfast rolls made this a very nice place to stop off for a quick early morning bite. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Seems to been a popular pick-up spot for takeaway coffee for locals.

We went to this coffee shop whilst on a short break to Harrogate. Lovely welcome, the staff are friendly. There is an extensive menu and the food is fresh and tasty. It is also very good value for money definitely recommend this for a place...

This small local cafe provided much better service than the main stream cafes. Friendly and welcoming with the bonus of advice on where to go and what to see. The cakes and coffee were top notch too.

Stopped by on the off chance for coffee and cake. Table service outside staff excellent and friendly. Coffee (iced latte) very good and offered a range of options. Cake great and as said staff friendly and attentive.

Tasty breakfast in a friendly coffee shop, a great start to the day. The owners Linda & Mike greeted us and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast menu is varied and full of tasty cooked food and pastries. The coffee was superb.

Dropped in for a coffee and a bite to eat. Had the Americana and poached eggs with avocado. Both were lovely. The staff could not have been any more pleasant. Well done to a super run place. Would highly recommend.

Found LMDC Espresso Bar on the off chance when looking for a more palatable price place to have breakfast outside the overpriced hotel charged rates. In fairness our usual breakfast establishment (which I won’t mention :-) ), was closed. We ambled down a few street...

We visited LMDC yesterday for lunch and we were amazed by the service and food. The gentleman who looked after us was very friendly, as were the two other members of the team. We had the tuna melt, ham and cheese toastie and the soup...

IN HArrogate for 2 nights. We ate takeaway one morning (amazing bacon rolls) and then again inside as they were so good. The only issue was they ran out of eggs benedict before I could order one. That said, again the bacon rolls were amazing....

Excellent place for a coffee and snack or a Gin if your feeling up to it. Excellent service , very clean and professionally run. Would recommend for elevenses..

After visiting LMDC on Sunday, I have to say it was all very pleasant and fully enjoyed. The service was lovely, we were greeted by a very friendly blonde young lady who made us feel very welcome, but also safe. She had a great charisma, the customer service was great. The food we were served was excellent; the coffees and smoothies were fantastic. They were taking the track and trace details also, rare but very appreciated! Nice to see the consideration of others!! Will be visiting back here again soon, definitely for another bacon roll it was class!

What an amazing find! The service was outstanding and the breakfast equally as good. The staff showed attention to detail and consideration while maintaining social distancing and keeping customers safe. Highly recommended.

Early afternoon snack - soup, pork pie, scones, cake and tea/coffee. Fantastic food, great ambience and the Seattle waitress was hilarious, witty, engaged brilliantly with the customers and really brightened up a very wet afternoon. Highly recommended.

Felt safe with all Covid precautions in place. Enjoyed a glass of orange juice followed by a bacon butty and a couple of coffees for breakfast. The staff are so friendly and helpful and positive in their outlook. I will definitely call again on my next visit to Harrogate as this is a truly welcoming place.

Just brilliant!! We’ve been coming to LMDC for the past few months now, and it’s absolutely wonderful! The staff are the friendliest people around, the coffee and food is superb. Can’t praise them enough. Also, importantly now, the Covid measures are all there and functioning, yet somehow you hardly seem to notice them. Truly a benchmark for all other businesses. We visited Harrogate yesterday and we needed a drink and light lunch.......stumbled across this lovely lovely lovely place. Staff were extremely extremely friendly and I ordered a very very very well done toastie......this is usually hard to get as people tend to under toast just in case which is understandable........it was just PERFECT. The Yorkshire Tea was delicious I’ll definitely definitely be a regular visitor when in Harrogate........thank you

We always call here when we visit Harrogate so we were really pleased to see that they had managed to reopen. A warm and friendly atmosphere with a great selection of drinks and cakes. Their fruit scones are excellent. It was really comforting to be asked for our contact details in the current climate. Something I think others should consider, just in case. Great service and excellent value.

Visiting here today was the first since lockdown and I have to say I’ll be back again! We initially came for a coffee but ended up having a couple of toasties alongside. While they were simple, I have to say they were delicious and the coffee was top quality! The young lady who greeted us at the door made us feel very welcome. The rest of the staff were also very warming and the place was spotless, I felt very safe eating here. I shall definitely be recommending and be sure to visit again soon.

After initially thinking we would go to an establishment over the street from here we stumbled across this little beauty!Exactly what you need in every aspect!Fresh delicious food and a good range, delicious coffee and multiple options for both soft and alcoholic drinks including the best fruit smoothie I have ever purchased (pash n shoot)I would highly recommend here, we ended up popping in 2 days in a row!

We are regular coffee drinkers in Harrogate frequenting 2 or 3 independent places including. Today at LDMC was our first coffee out since mid March. We planned to drink outside but ended up inside. I just wanted to say it was great. If felt very safe but also very relaxed. The screens were spot on. Coffee and brownies were excellent, staff were great, good to see the contact tracing - all round excellent! I will be telling friends to make you their go to coffee shop. Actually I think the screens would be good to keep - it felt a little more private than usual but still bright and airy. So thank you for a great return to our Saturday coffee out. You have shot to the top of our list!

Such a amazing espresso bar! Everyone is sooo friendly & nice! We have been before lockdown & both the food & drinks/coffee are amazing! We also went into today post lockdown & wow! They have taken steps to keep everyone safe - I could not have felt happier eating / drinking here! It was spotless & they have glass screens in between the tables, take your name & number for track & trace, close / lock the door when the limit is in & hand sanitizer in the door!!! Oooh & they take dogs!!! Thank you

Two visits in two days with great service, run by lovely people and the bacon roll was exceptional. Full of bacon and full of taste, next time I’m back in Harrogate I’ll be back at LMDC. Fantastic!

A hidden gem, this cafe may be small but it is big on quality. Had a superb breakfast which was top quality and the coffee was great. Good atmosphere too.

I have eaten here before and the food was fine. Today, however, the pork pies were rubbery and the pastry soggy - they tasted as if they had been blasted for too long in the microwave. A real disappointment.

Coffee doesn’t get better than this IMHO. Small and compact but a wonderful atmosphere and very knowledgeable. Bacon butties outstanding and cakes pretty good. Posh coffee but very rustic and small premises which are cute for me but some may not like.

My partner and I visited LMDC Espresso Bar on 31st November 2019, for hot drinks in the late afternoon.We were greeted with warm and friendly smiles and were served quickly. They had a number of alternative milks, though there was an extra charge for these. The drinks were great, I had an oat milk latte and my partner had a hot chocolate. We were both happy with our drinks. The only comment I would make about this place is that while we were there, numerous members of staff kept opening the front and back doors and leaving them open when it was very cold outside. This meant there was a permanent draft rushing through the place making us cold, when we had come in to get warm. We made a few requests to have the doors closed to which they obliged, but other staff members kept re-opening them.Other than that, our experience was pleasant, the staff were helpful and friendly and our drinks were nice. We would visit this place again.

We loved our multiple visits to this cafe during our weekend in Harrogate! Excellent independent cafe with friendly service. Food was fresh, tasty and very good value for money! Only small, but got free mulled wine whilst waiting for a table, we will be back!!

Yes I had to wait for a table, but they were very busy as it was lunchtime and it I was told this as soon as I entered. The cafe is quite small so this was expected, it was very cold so I didn't fancy sitting out outside.I had the warm pork pie with mushy peas which was very nice, The coffee was also very acceptable. The service was very good.It's such a shame that there are so many good reviews as I expect it will always be very popular but I'll be happy to wait for a table in the future.

After finding this cafe listed as one of the best independent coffee shops in Harrogate I was very excited to try. We both went for a flat white and unfortunately the beautiful decor and friendly staff could not make up for the fact that the flat white was mediocre, similar to what you would receive in a chain coffee shop. Quite a shock as they use superb espresso beans! Otherwise the rest of the cafe experience was lovely and I don’t like to leave a bad review so if your not a coffee snob like me, please do go and visit.

We had a wonderful afternoon in Harrogate which was topped by a visit to this very accomplished little coffee house.. The husband and wife owners were both there and both did a sterling job with regards to making people feel very welcome.. We had a light lunch, some seriously good coffee and were treated like friends.. These people really deserve to succeed.. They have all the ingredients to achieve everything they desire..Forget Betty’s ... LMDC has heart and soul!

Second visit to this cracking little cafe/ bar,breakfast choice excellent staff very good and friendly. My wife and i also tried samples of the gin liqueurs and ended up buying three bottles. Returning to Harrogate next month and will definately call here again, probably to restock on the liqueurs.

£4 for 1 and half slice of bacon in a teacake? Not sure if they was having a bad day or that is normal.

We visited this warm and inviting cafe to escape a damp and chilly Saturday afternoon with a hot chocolate. Ordered two deluxe and they were presented in a lovely way with extras and lots of marshmallows. The hot chocolate itself was really rich and delicious. Didn't try and food but the cakes and brownies looked delicious!

Sitting in LMDC right now and what a great experience. The staff here are so friendly and accommodating. Free tasters if the Slingsby gin liqueurs. Food really good too, a great experience overall. We’ll be back for sure

Called in everyday while we were in town for the UCI world championships and we were given a very warm and friendly welcome every day by the owners and staff, coffee and food excellent. Will definatly

We were visiting Harrogate for the cycling so we came on Sunday for spot of lunch, met by very friendly owners, sat out in the rain as it was so warm and we kindly got given an umbrella. They sell Brown & Blond brownies which are quite simply the best brownies in the world ever!! Came again for breakfast today and it was nice to be remembered from Sunday! Cannot recommence enough, the food is glorious too.

Visited LMDC cafe for second time today and although it seems very popular im not as keen on it.Staff clear your table so why dont they take your order at same time?The cafe has a nice cosy feel to it which is good but its a bit cramped and some of the tables are wonky.The young staff work hard.Its often a bit cool as doors and windows get left open by staff and customers.Smoothies are a tad pricey at £3.75.Scones are tiny although with cheese scones theres a tasty chilli jam.Toasted Sandwiches arent toasties! Theyre just toasted bread with fillings which arent as good as toasties.Feeling of being cramped or Hemmed in.I Gave it a good review last time as cafe was new to me but just not as impressed this time.

Called here for a coffee & cake, I chose a scone with clotted cream & jam, my husband had a bacon & Brie bagel. Both were delicious, pleasant friendly staff serving delicious food & cakes.

We were spending some time in Harrogate and it was getting to be around lunchtime. DaughterMoose and I fancied something simple like a toasted sandwich and headed to John street where there were a number of cafe bars. We couldn't find anything simple and then cam upon LMDC. It was small, welcoming and just what we needed. It is a simple decor with friendly staff. I had a toasted club sandwich and daughterMoose had a toasted chees sandwich - both were very tasty. Definitely a place to seek out for a light lunch.

as a coffee aficionado...can truly say ....the best coffee ever., And having complemented on the coffee got a full story on suppliers ....brilliant.....and the food was good as well!

We went to this cafe today when it was pouring with rain .although it was full they still managed to squeeze us in .the staff were so welcoming .cakes and coffee were lovely and they couldn’t do enough for us to make us feel comfortable .

A warm welcome awaits you at LMDC. Popped in for breakfast and we were not disappointed. I had bacon roll and toast with jam, my wife had toast with jam and we both had a cappuccino, really enjoyed this, glad we went in. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we will definitely be visiting again, highly recommended.

This was our second visit and it is such a great place, if you can get a table.

We were looking for somewhere for breakfast but decided on the £6 deal, bacon roll, fruit juice and tea/coffee. Lovely soft rolls with lots of tasty well cooked bacon, fruit juice and delicious coffee. So good we went back the next day too.

Everything from the coffee through to the atmosphere is spot on. The staff are super friendly and it has a real family run feel to it, which is a great touch.

We spent a day in Harrogate recently, found ourselves in the very quaint John Street, full of interesting little shops, cafes and bars, and decided to stop for a snack in LMDC. We were welcomed warmly by a very polite, friendly gentleman, who made a great effort to find a spare chair, making a table for three in this obviously extremely popular, busy little cafe, and who then hunted down a spare cushion for it! The choice of teas, coffees, other beverages, light lunches, and homemade cakes was impressive, the service prompt and with a smile, something which isn't always readily available, but is so important in order to allow customers to feel relaxed, enjoy their experience, and encourage return visits. If we visit Harrogate again in the future, we will definitely be returning to LMDC, this pretty little cafe in one of it's prettiest little streets, with the guarantee of that warm welcome and delicious home made food.

Lovely looking place on a street full of bars and restaurants - good value for money for what we ordered but the food was pretty average. A 3/5 place every day of the week.

We stumbled across LMDC whilst looking for a light lunch after we landed in Harrogate. We were so glad we did!

On an overnight stay in Harrogate we came across this cafe by accident and a happy one at that! Stopped for lunch and coffee and cake all of which were delicious. It was busy but we were immediately seated at a well cleaned table. You order at the counter and food is then brought to you. We enjoyed it so much we went back again the following day, had to try more cake! Lovely staff too.

Dean, Lesley and the staff at LDMC were amazing, we went here for lunch on my sister hen party weekend.

I have visited a few times and have found that on my last 2 visits there was very little choice of cake. Having visited previously (always AM or early lunch time) and being delighted at having 3 cakes plus tray bakes to choose from...my most recent visits have been really dissappointing. Please bring back your salted caramel cake it really was worth the visit!

Called in yesterday for usual pie and peas with luxury hot chocolate both for my daughter and myself. This is the BEST hot chocolate ever served on a plate with little chocolate treats, choccie mice, jazzies, flake and marshmallows, yummy.

Having walked what felt like every street in Harrogate in 1°C, this cafè was warm and welcoming. I had a generous portion of soup and seeded bread for just £4.50 - a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat while out shopping and exploring :)

Shopping in Harrogate today,27th November and we almost always call here for a bite to eat, our winter favourite is pie and peas with mint sauce, yummy.

Visited this cosy friendly cafe today with my mother for our first visit and were warmly greeted by Lesley and Dean the owners who catered for us very well.We had a lovely hot latte each then a cheese and ham toasted sandwich each,We noticed that the ham used was a high grade which was tasty.We then had a slice of cake each.Nice cosy cafe We will return.

Just down this little Harrogate street, we stumbled in one cold morning to find a delicious warming coffee and hot porridge! And finished it up with toast and marmalade. I’d highly recommend this dear little place for breakfast. Friendly staff. Dogs under the tables. Cushions and benches galore.

We needed a quick lunch whilst visiting Harrogate on the way home today and stumbled across this little place - we had the meat and cheese sharing board - excellent both in terms of content and value for money - only £20 and included 2 drinks - glass of Malbec and a Peroni. Really friendly and fast service, enabling us to get back to our car just before the meter man! Many thanks to the staff for a really good experience, definitely recommend a visit.

My husband and I were in Harrogate for the night. After a couple of drinks in the chain pubs opposite (it was a red hot day/night) we decided we didn't want a full-on meal, just some nibbles/snacks. Saw this lovely looking coffee shop over the way, where they were advertising sharing platters for £14.95. We decided to go in and sit inside (just a bit too warm outside!). Apart from one other table we were the only ones. It was so lovely from start to finish! Greeted with a lovely smile, we ordered two glasses of wine and a sharing platter. Wine was delicious as was the food. A variety of cheeses (Manchego served with honey and walnuts just like Spain), cold meats, gorgeous bread and crackers with some fabulous chutneys. Service was great, very relaxed and discreet. Loved the serve-yourself water tap/glasses to our left. We were going to leave however we decided to have coffee, a baileys and my husband opted for a butterscotch brownie. Wow! We described the coffee we wanted (a cortado from Spain) and it was duly delivered. Brownie was the best we've had (I had to share!). This was such a good meal and nice surprise we visited again the following morning for breakfast. £6 for bacon roll, huge glass of orange juice and coffee. Absolutely fantastic food and brilliant value. Well done and keep up the good work. We will be back!

Stopped off here for a coffee and cake. You are made to feel really welcome here so we decided to stay longer and have a glass of wine and a gin and tonic. All reasonably priced and all served with a smile and chat. Great little find.
