We went to Lona Grill House on the recommendation of my son who is a regular customer. It has an amazing atmosphere and you really feel like you are in North Africa and not in Bristol. The staff are super helpful and very attentive. The food is cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are large and offer good value for money. My wife had the lamb cutlets which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had one of the vegetarian dishes which was excellent. We will definitely be returning.

Awesome food. Advice from a regular: Come early to get a table at busy times! Edit Jan-2025: Payments now are taken in advance of you getting the food. The restaurant adds a 10% service charge without telling you or taking consent.

Really enjoyed their food! First time trying Lebanese food and I was pleasantly surprised! Price is very reasonable as well! Defo gonna revisit!

Absolutely disgusted with the service at this restaurant. The staff were rude, inattentive, and completely unprofessional. The quality of the food has plummeted since my last visit—it was barely edible and far from what I expected. The entire experience was a disgrace, and I felt completely undervalued as a customer. I will never step foot in this place again, and I will make sure my friends and family know to avoid it as well!!

I absolutely love this place. Great food and juices. Can get a little noisy when its busy. At busy times, you may have to wait for a table, but the last time we went we had a table straight away. The Hummus starter is on point, and we love the piri piri chicken with chips and rice. There have a large selection of fresh juices. They have a wheelchair friendly entrance and plenty of tables for wheelchairs .

Amazing service, great meat and veg platters. They have a cool tradition of celebrating birthdays together, so highly recommended for celebrations. Food is awesome and highly recommend having ayran and kunaffa :)

Got Over Charged. I went for dinner with kids yesterday evening because the kids wanted Luna food, no problem. As we ordered, Round 3 ( mix platter ) and 3 smoothies, but straight away have to pay £92 before eat, sure no problem I see things online people don't pay after eating understandable not a problem, but the worse yet to come there was 10% service charge added to our bill, we even hadn't our food yet we don't know how the food is going to be and how good is the service going to be, but NO had to pay which I felt disgusted by thier trick of ripping people off, 10% on every order. Never mind, the menu price has gone up, and the food is getting smaller in potions, cost of living. I don't think I will be happy to go there again for dinner unless I'm asked, but NO. The service charge or tips for waiters should be decided by the customers how much to be paid, NOT compulsory by the restaurant 🤔 it's an act of THEFT. I hope the LUNA groups think again not to add any more service charges to any person's bill, or they will lose more customers like me.

I’ve been a few times and find the staff slightly unwelcoming and pretty functional. Whilst the food is really good, I find it insulting that they insist you pay when ordering. I understand that they’ve had issues in the past, but I don’t fancy eating somewhere that doesn’t trust me. Plus, it stopped me ordering any extra food or drinks. Overall, nice food, but I wouldn’t go back, or recommend it. Ultimately, lots of places have nice food and it’s how you’re made to feel that’s important. This is an area they fail in.

The food was nice but the service was awful, I'm guessing as 10% service charge is included and you pay before getting your food. We ordered our drinks first as we needed more time, but when they were served we weren't asked for our food order. After collecting our plates we weren't offerent the menus to order any desert or more drinks. After asking for the drinks menu they then never came back to take our order. They weren't even busy.

Used to love coming here but it has gone downhill in terms of service and atmosphere. Nobody checks to see if the food is okay, the plastic cups make it feel like a cheap takeaway place !! and the napkins are also so cheap. Cutting corners like not offering chips with the platters anymore but increasing the price just makes it feel like your average fast food place. It used to be a place where you’d come to celebrate but now it’s just so pathetic, I’d rather drive to Birmingham/London and eat there. The staff hover around you making you feel uncomfortable and are almost rushing you out when they think you’re done with the food. Management obviously don’t care as the business model is working and it’s always busy, but maybe just have a think.

Shoutout to the curly hair Kurdish boy. great worker always serving us with a big smile and great care. Food:10/10 most recommend in Bristol great taste and nicely grilled. Juices: 9/10 fresh juices wonderful taste

Lona is the best Lebanese restaurant in Bristol their food is absolutely amazing and the service they provide is spot on. When it's your birthday the staff round up and play music and bring out a cake for you with a sparkling candle to set the scene absolutely amazing it's like one massive party with the whole restaurant clapping 😂 lovely atmosphere this place is definitely family oriented which is really nice

Went with with some friends and was amazed by the quality of food and the setting. We ordered the 3 person platter, not quite knowing what to expect but it was actually reallllly good. The platter was massive with three types of rice, chops, chicken, lamb and some lovely stuffed naan things. Reasonable prices, nice setting, attentive staff, and parking available outside on the main road. Highly recommended and will be going again.

Used to go here quite often and really enjoyed but haven't been for quite awhile, after tonight's experience we will not be back. As soon as we sat down they wanted us to order food, we told them we only just sat and haven't even looked at menu, literally 5 mins later they were back again so told them we needed more time. When we were ready to order we were told we had to pay first, but when we asked what if we want more drinks, dessert etc she just shrugged her shoulders. When we looked around everyone else seemed to be paying after they had eaten except another table besides us that was also White English they had to pay as soon as they ordered. The food came and it's was lovely but nobody stopped by our table now they had our money and 10% service fee to see if everything was OK or if we needed more drinks, we had to keep chasing for the sides we ordered and paid for. At the end of the meal they came and cleared our plates and again didn't ask if we wanted more drinks or desserts, so we sat and waited. About 15 mins later they cleared our glasses and when we said we would like more drinks we were offered water????? We had 10% added to our bill for service charge when we recieved no service whats so ever, we felt very rushed and couldn't wait to get rid of us, as soon as we stood up they pulled our table up to another. So much for a lovely meal, drinks and catch up with some friends, I could understand if we had been there for hours but this whole experience was just over 1hr

Food was ok. We were made to pay BEFORE we got our food and it soon became clear why- despite having plenty of staff NONE COULD BE BOTHERED TO TALK TO US, and since they added 10% service charge why would they care about good service? Once we got 1 drink and our meal ordered noone came to see if it was OK, or if we wanted another drink, or if we wanted dessert ( we did, but never got the chance). They also forgot dishes on both ours and our friends orders- that we'd already paid for! Our table was at 7pm so not like they were closing. We won't be going back and certainly won't be recommending it to others.

A bit too loud and paying upfront is a bit awkward, service is hard to get after you order. But in general this is one of the best spots for halal food in bristol.

Fantastic food and atmosphere. We were there on Wednesday, you can get there on Wednesday evening without a reservation. Bird meat. Milkshakes too. Fast and efficient service.

It was my first visit after a long while... Food was awful, lamb cutlets so fatty,asked for a mint souce, and I was given salt and pepper...?!! Staff was not attentive at all,hiding themselves behind the wooden wall. Music far too loud. When I complained to the person at the door,he seemed to be disinterested... I won't be returning...

Our 2nd visit and as always the food and service was 1st class. You can always tell how popular a place is when you are queuing to get in. You would be hard pushed to find foods suitable for all dietary requirements. Would 100% recommend every time. Thank you Lona the whole team is so dedicated!

Awful experience, they demand you to pay all upfront and force you to pay extra 10% service charge which is not a law in the UK. Food came up uncooked with my salad missing. Constant load music for birthday occasions makes you ears bleed and you can not hear anyone on your table or have any conversation. The random Kurdish managers do not care about customer experience

Authentic middle eastern food, probably the best in Bristol. The quality is consistent and the food is delicious. My only issue with their new system is that now you have to pay straight after ordering even if you are dining in, which is not something that I would expect from a restaurant befitting their standards, however they might have started this after being faced multiple times with people who dine and dash. The vibe is normally pretty nice, my only complaint about that part is the constant repetition of the birthday songs which can play up to 4/5 times by the time you finish your meal.

The food was lovely, had a new treat I don't usually see on platters in other restaurants alike and it was delicious. Service was really good, we needed an ice pack and they were kind enough to create a make shift one for us in the absence of an actual ice pack.

Had a family dinner last weekend, the food was delicious and the ambience is quite good. had to wait in the queue for a good half an hour ans it was weekend. Would definitely visit again for sure. I ordered a fresh fruit juice which was way too bitter to drink. the drink was called "pink love" to be specific. overall we had a good family time there.

Visited on a Tuesday evening what I thought would be a low-key teenager birthday celebration. It seems everyone else had the same idea. As the place was busy, although we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Customer service was a bit slow. Food is very tasty and plentiful.

We were there based on a recommendation. I couldn't understand whether I ate meat or garlic. I really didn't like the taste of the food at all. Our order wasn't taken for 20 minutes and I couldn't understand that fuss, which was birthday nonsense. It was the first time in my life that I saw such a disgraceful place. I have never seen a place where the employees are so humiliated and everyone is keeping time at the same time until the song ends. It's a very despicable situation on behalf of the employees, it's a completely insincere place. Not to mention prepayment, I definitely don't prefer it..!

Always a good time at Lona. We typically do celebrations here. Their steak is juicy and their platter have good portion. I’ve had the fillet steak, sirloin steak and the Lona Round 4 among other things in the past. You’ll never leave this place hungry. Good place to celebrate birthdays as well with their special song.

This place was buzzing when we went on a Tuesday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. Excellent value & great quality food. Definitely a night to remember!

I have been to Lonas many times with kids and with my partner, it is appropriate for all ages. There are a variety of dishes suitable for adults and young children, the staff are very attentive and they also are friendly with the children. They thoroughly enjoy going here as do i, especially on Birthdays as the staff bring out the cake while clapping. It creates a brilliant atmosphere for all. My favourite go to dishes are the steaks, the hummous starter and borek. Although pretty much everything i have tried so far has been great too! I opt for the smoothies with my meal which are very fresh and refreshing.

I absolutely love this place! Best food ever!! My only negative is the forced 10% service charge. I'm a strong believer that it should be a customer's choice to pay a tip. Not have it forced upon you. But the staff are all very good and the food is unbelievable! Lovely atmosphere and the birthday music is unforgettable! I love it here!

Mandatory service charge and they make you pay upfront!

An insulting experience No respect, I have been to much fancier restaurants and I have never been charged upfront for my meal with a mandatory 10% service charge. Not worth the insulting service, the arrogance to charge a mandatory 10% to your bill that is not removable when asked. Save your time and money and go somewhere where your patronage is not insulted with the assumption that you will dine and dash your meal and not tip.

The service staff demonstrated a lack of professionalism, and the food was served at an unacceptably low temperature. Consequently, I will not be returning to this Restaurant.

Mi hija tiene un sistema inmunológico muy bajo, así que esto hizo que la situación fuera aún más alarmante. Esperaría mejores estándares de salud y seguridad de un restaurante, especialmente en lo que respecta a los empleados enfermos. También suscita preocupación si se apoya al personal para que se tome un tiempo libre cuando no se encuentra bien. Espero que la dirección tome esto en serio para el bienestar de los clientes y empleados.

My favourite halal restaurant in Bristol. Quality food and fast service. Love that there is no alcohol served and the juice bar selection is great. Would recommend the 'Third Pounder' or any of the Grills (Chicken Shish, Lamb Shish etc). Only thing to keep in mind is on busy days there are a LOT of birthdays, which means constant birthday music and clapping every 5-10 mins.

Have been here 3/ 4 times. Food is good. i've noticed service wasn't great last time. Although the restaurant was busy , staff seem to be hanging around when not serving . Almost like lots of untrained students meandering around. We had to ask for a starter twice and had to keep grabbing their attention in order to be seen to. Considering we spent in the couple hundreds for our meal ( and was asked to pay for it there n then before our meal arrived ( which I thought was extremely rude ). Lonas you were a 'lonas let down'.

Owner claims it's mandatory and law to pay a service charge. Last time I checked this is England and it is not LAW. It is a customer's choice if you feel you had an excellent service. Also you have to pay up front before you eat!! Far more better places in Bristol, sorry.

Great bonkers place in the best way! Quick, high turnover, big restaurant with rich decor and generous great food. Great for families and celebrations. Large menu of fresh juices instead of alcohol. All this makes a great atmosphere, which I didn't think would be my thing but the ease, speed, value for money, tastiness and general warm vibes converted me. Definitely worth a try! Note! You pay on order at the table and the tip has already been added to the bill! That's the only niggle, but it did make everything run smoothly.

The atmosphere at Lona Restaurant is definitely appealing and beautiful, and I can see why it's popular for special occasions. While dining, we noticed more than five tables celebrating as the music will come up to sound for this. The music and clapping that accompanied these celebrations created a lively and festive vibe. However, the food was a bit disappointing. I had the chicken kofte and chicken wings, but unfortunately, the lemon flavor was overpowering, and the chicken wasn't as juicy as I expected. My husband ordered the Mixed Grill Three – he loved the lamb cutlets, but found the other items (lamb areyes, spicy lamb kofte, and wings) underwhelming. It was also surprising that payment was required immediately after ordering. On a brighter note, my sons enjoyed their kofte kebabs, and the drinks were refreshing. I had the "Clear Skin," a mix of watermelon, pineapple, and mango, which was quite nice. The kids had orange and strawberry drinks, which they enjoyed as well. Overall, while the ambiance was fun and vibrant, the food didn't quite live up to expectations. If you're looking for a place with a lively atmosphere for celebrations, Lona Grill House fits the bill, but the food may not impress everyone.

This place is special to me. It is the first Jeet restaurant in Bristol. Honestly, it is wonderful by all standards. There is a special place for prayer. It is a special Lebanese restaurant in Bristol.

Great food, freshly made and great portions, can't fault it on that aspect the only thing that was a let down was the staff once giving the food didn't come back to us once, having to wait for someone to walk pass me or having to go find someone to order a drink or if we needed more naan. Apart from that I still recommend it for their amazing food and freshly made juices/shakes!

The food today was not so good. We have been coming here regularly for years and always been satisfied. This is the first time we came back since it closed due to fire incident. My son ordered medium rare steak but it came medium well. It was also not seasoned at all. He only orders steak everytime we come here so he was quite disappointed. The chicken thighs were overcooked and dry. Like it was re-heated?! Chicken thighs usually doesn't get dry easily so not sure what they did in the kitchen. The vegetables in the platter was either undercooked or dry as well. The only food we enjoyed was our starter which was the mixed mezze & flat bread. What happened Lona?! Have you got a new chef or just having a bad day? We will probably give it another try one day and see. If food is the same as today, then it's a shame coz we really love coming here.

Luna used to be a great place to dine, staff are very friendly and food always arrived promptly, on top of that prices are very reasonable and food is delicious. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because they can never get my steak right, its always well done no matter how you want it. Update Sep 24 I have had to downgrade this to 2 stars, since my last review I went to luna 2 times ordering the same thing, T bone steak, and I still have the same issue, you ask for medium you get wll done, what's annoying is that the chef is quite arrogant as he tells the waiters that this is how medium steak should be, today he actually said that the "thinner part" which I assumed he means the fillet, will always be well done because its thinner, speaks volumes about what type of chef cooking the steak. When the steak was replaced it was missing almost half of the fillet side and it was close to rare than medium, honestly those people haven't got the slightest clue what a T bone is or how steak is cooked. Hugely disappointed, because I used to absolutely adore this place.

Proportions quality and value for money 6 out of 10, and my Lebanese wife would agree. However nice atmosphere, and quick service.
