Lyla Belle's Cafe in Hartlepool

Food here was really good I would recommend it. It was really busy for a Sunday morning so I would recommend making a booking. The only down side was the poached eggs were boiled solid. Plus there is a really good 300w electric car charger just outside which is a massive bonus.

Food is always great here my only pointer would be that the cheese on the posh chip butty would be better melted and maybe some extra aioli but that’s just my personal preference, Overall a lovely cafe and staff are great. Check out their bakecase it’s delicious.

Went with Girls for afternoon tea Tea and coffees included in price for 1 1/2 hours Sandwiches nice selection but to heavy in ciabatta bread, plain brown and white bread would have been better, Cakes looked lovely but to similar not enough variety as sickly after one or two. I noticed upon arrival at home with my goody bag tub of clotted cream over 2 weeks out of date and wouldn't spread So disappointed with experience

Took mam who's 88 for lunch, They were happy yo let me and mam share a bacon brie and cranberry ciabatta toasted sandwich and chips. This was lovely Last time there we had the Afternoon Tea which wasn't to my taste, they have now changed the sandwiches to various bread and a wider selection of cakes I must admit it did look lovely. Will now have to go back and give it another try THANK YOU for taking on board reviews

Such a nice aesthetic cafe, the presentation of the food was amazingg, big portions sizes amazing for the price however maybe they were too big. Waitresses were lovely, the waiting time for our food was quite long however when receiving the food it tasted lovely! And the Cinnamon hot chocolate was AMAZING!!

A place in a commercial park, where you can have breakfast in the purest English style with wonderful service. The food is very delicious.

Great place to visit, excellent afternoon tea and friendly, helpful staff. Easy to see why it was so busy. Only downside was the blast of cold air when the door was open. Not unexpected in November. Will definitely visit again!

Really lovely cafe, a good variety of food options and the specials are amazing. Ordered the christmas special grilled cheese. It had brie, roast chicken, bacon and jam on toasted sourdough and it was really filling. Coffee was really good too , had the hazelnut latte and it was the perfect level of sweetness. Staff were very kind and friendly. Highly recommend need to go back soon

Had a fantastic brunch while in Hartlepool on the way to the cinema. We ordered Avocado and poached eggs on Sourdough, pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, Flat White and a pot of Decaf Tea. Everything was delicious and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend a visit and will be back soon

Eaten here a number of times and always had a very nice breakfast. I recommend the eggs Benedict and full English breakfast.

First time visiting Lyla Belle's Cafe. Very welcoming, cosy and homely atmosphere. Service is spot on and staff extremely friendly. Although we didn't have food, the coffee was gorgeous. Will definitely be back. A great cafe and on my doorstep.

Absolutly brilliant. We didn't have food hence no review of that but the food that passed our table looked so,so appetising and wholesome. We only popped in to kill time waiting for our car to be sorted but the coffee we had was sublime. 2 beautifully crafted flat whites in REAL crockery not the usual white industry pottery. The coffee was a treat to drink. Thank you. A bisqueet on the side just added the final, wonderwonderful touch. The staff were welcoming as soon as we entered and showed us to our table. Lovely place to eat for lunch, food is delicious. Had the iced shaken pumpkin spice oat latte and apple crumble banana bread. Service was alittle slowly however it was understandable for the low kitchen staff and the kitchen was near to be closing. Overall nice place to eat after shopping in Hartlepool

Came in and ordered my meal at 10.30am. (Checked on my account). Sat at a table that was just big enough to accommodate a plate. ( So forget about reading a paper) Waited till 11.10 am, and nothing had been placed on the table, if only to show if it could take a plate. Went to the counter and said " I'm sorry but I need to leave, I simply cannot wait any longer as I have an appointment in Newcastle" Now one of the guys on the photo from when the business started, went on to computer, so I would of assumed that he had been there for sometime. If he had he had never been on a computer before to give someone a refund. And I was correct. So no apology, nothing, no answer to what went wrong, no-one give a toss. I obviously missed my appointment in Newcastle which has cost me around £100. That is an absolutely appalling entry to put on your resume. Never ever will I return to this shambles of an outfit.

Lovely looking, cute cafe that has a nice area and toys for kids to occupy them, but on virtually every trip I’ve had here the food service is always very slow. Meal for 3 took 35mins to arrive today when restaurant was about 60% capacity. Had a full English which was very nice but wife’s pancakes were thick and very dense so made you very full very fast. £38 for 2 adults and child food plus drinks.

This is a lovely little find. The food is super tasty, and the deserts are amazing. Lattes are fab, not too strong on the coffee (how I like it), and good choice of flavour syrup ls to add. The staff are super helpful and friendly, always happy and cheerful. All in all, a great café. Would definitely recommend it.

Had my birthday afternoon tea party here today. Staff were amazing and food was lovely can't thank you another. They did everything I asked for and even did name places . They was plenty of food and everyone loved it .

I’ve been to Lyla Belle’s a few times and have always really enjoyed it so we decided to hold my sister’s baby shower here and it was absolutely fantastic. It was only a small gathering so we had a corner of the cafe to ourselves and were able to put up a few banners and decorations to make it personal. We ordered the afternoon tea and the food was so good, the staff were so friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was great! We had a last minute dietary requirement request (completely my fault for not checking beforehand!) but the staff were nothing but helpful and quickly made us up a separate stand which we were so grateful for and meant we could all enjoy the day. Every detail was thought of, even down to the cute teddy bear art on my sister’s coffee! Just wanted to say thank you so much for making the day so special and we will definitely be back again!

Very limited choice of lunch meals. Had the soup which was ok, it’s soup. Tried a piece of snickers shortbread and my mother in law had a cupcake. They were both very dry - the shortbread was more like a dried cake than shortbread. We had asked about the afternoon tea but apparently you need to give 24hrs notice!!!!! 24hrs notice to put a couple of cakes on a plate. Very disappointed and won’t be visit again,

Food was overpriced and average at best, sausages and bacon were still slimy and seemed uncooked (I gave what I could away) , eggs were crispy and looked like they had been cooked on a blow torch and I had pieces of egg shell in my food. Service was fine. Atmosphere was anything but chilled. Noisy and cramped with kids running round. Also I love dogs but having other peoples dogs walking under the tables and around your legs/sniffing you while you’re trying to have breakfast was just off putting.

Well decorated to a high standard. Food was spot on. We will be back.

Came in as I had a few hours to kill, and I had a wonderful time! I went in had to wait a minute or two to be seated, order at the counter. I chose to get a pot of tea and a white chocolate brownie! The brownie was phenomenal - perfectly gooey and melt in your mouth! The girls at the counter were amazing too! Quick service, and very friendly - I never forget a compliment about my earrings :)

Called in Ad hoc for a snack. Found a table only to be told that there’s a sign asking you to wait to be seated. Said sign was on the floor behind the door ? Before we were handed the menu we were told of everything that wasn’t available which was quite an extensive list. Due to this we each ordered a sausage and bacon bun. After a long wait they came out & I’ve never seen or tasted anything like it as it looked like it had been cooked at the Hartlepool Power station as the sausages were rock hard & the bacon was 5 seconds short of a cremation ceremony. One of the buns was sent back only to be replaced with bacon that looked like it had 5 seconds under a candle. We also ordered a cake which was seriously short of icing and was as dry as the Sahara. Needless to say most of the food was left & somewhere where we don’t plan to revisit.

Unique cafe with some unusual items on the menu

I’ve previously left a review after a visit a couple of years ago mentioning the really nice food but lacking in flavour combination. Just an update following two further visits last month… First visit the special menu had sweet chilli chicken flatbread. Very expensive at nearly £12, when they arrived it was just deep fried breaded chicken on flatbread and couldn’t even see any chilli sauce. There was a drizzle of yoghurt. Meant to come with coleslaw but neither did. Didn’t realise till end of the meal. We also ordered the topped hash browns as a dish off the menu and a separate sausage sandwich. They brought out a sausage sandwich with one hash brown inside the bun. Unfortunately they don’t issue a receipt so didn’t realise the order was wrong. Second visit to try the hash brown dish I missed on the first visit. It was very nice and the value for money for the size of the portion was good. Second dish wasn’t good value at all. We ordered the banoffee banana bread skillet, it was over £10 and looked absolutely nothing like the image they shared on their Facebook page. Basically two pieces of banana bread, one banana, two chopped up strawberries at most and a few pieces of fudge. Photo attached which can be compared to the one on the Facebook page, ours seemed to be missing raspberries, blueberries, sauce and a lot of fudge! Too many things have been missing, wrong or disappointing on arrival. I would go for tea and cake for their afternoon deal but probably not for food now. The staff are very friendly and it has a lovely atmosphere, so if they just upped their main meals quality then it would be a brilliant cafe.

Lovely cafe, visited several times before & I’ll definitely be back. Great atmosphere & busy today. We turned up for lunch, we had to sit by the window which was fine but the bench was a little dirty where it hadn’t been wiped & we waited awhile for a menu & in the end had to ask for one. However, amazing coffee & food as always. I had a feta sourdough & chips & my partner had the quiche of the day which he enjoyed also. Just gutted I was a bit too early for the coffee & cake deal, the tray bakes & cake selection look very generous & amazing! Definitely a reason to visit again. I do love a visit here & I feel we are very lucky to have such a gorgeous cafe in Hartlepool.

We were squeezed in on a rainy Father's Day when our plans went pear shaped because of the weather! Staff were friendly and welcoming and made space for us at the bar area. Food was delicious and good value. Children loved their breakfasts too. Would recommend the breakfast bagel! Portion sizes were generous and it was all thoroughly enjoyed by us. Be back soon

Funky place on a shopping estate where you normally only expect the normal chains like KFC. Great menu. Interesting decor. I had the chip sarnie, and loved it!

This is the worst cafe I have ever been in. The food was terrible. Me and the wife called in for a snack and a cuppa on Saturday 8th June To the Hartlepool teesbay cafe. I had a bacon sandwich with a egg. I could have soled my shoe with the bacon it was that hard. My wife got a bowl of chips with a egg on top. The egg looked it had been dropped on the floor sent it back looked like it had been run under the tap, she could not eat the chips I tried a couple horrible. The waitress offered a cake but could not eat it. We got up and left. I won't be back. Dave and Maureen PS I think I left a bit of tooth on my plate from the bacon Terrible

My parents like this cafe but it was my first time and I was very impressed. Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful with a bit of craic. Checked if we were okay and happy with our order. Great cafe, looks lovely, great open design and very generous portions of cake, which is always a bonus.

Fabulous mid-afternoon meal today. I ordered a BLT focaccia which was superb - thick, good quality bacon and delicious warm bread - and chased it down with a millionaires shortbread which, at £3.70, is incredible value compared to the offerings of the nearby nationwide chains. The accompanying "Margate Fog", an April special, has lovely notes of rhubarb and vanilla without ever being overpowering. Excellent, attentive service too. Thanks all!

Food was lovely, we had breakfasts, but pricier than a greasy spoon but worth it, took ages to come though however when we said,they apologised gave us complimentary hot drinks and were really nice about it. Had delicious home made Victoria Sponge cake. Definitely coming again to try their lunch menu. Be prepared to wait if they’re busy, but worth the wait.

Our second visit here and really enjoyed it again. The staff are friendly and helpful and really make an effort to accommodate us with my Dad's mobility scooter. The food was delicious. Dad had the Shakshouka with Avocado. Mam had the cheese and onion toastie and I had one of the specials, the Korean mushroom benedict which was really good. Have been recommending this place to my friends and I think it's become our go-to place to eat when we're out shopping.

This place is done out so nicely, if it was located on a high street, I'm sure it would be packed out every day. It was a pleasant surprise.

3 people were sat when we came in. They had an issue with where we were sitting and asked us to move which I could understand. We waited 10 minutes for our drinks and 40 minutes for food. Yes the food presentation was amazing how ever the food was cold. I had the eggs Benedict, the hollandaise sauce was very cold, eggs not warm and the bread very hard the ham was also cold that may be alright for some however whenever I have had this dish at other places everything has been the perfect temperature and been cooked perfectly so the was a big let down. My partner had the full English, no butter provided, beans, bacon were cold bread was very hard only thing being satisfied with was the mushrooms, hash brown and egg. Paying £31.70 in total was definitely not worth it for how the food tasted.

Lovely friendly place. Food & drinks are delicious. There are a couple of comfy sofas & a play box next to these. Worth sitting there if you have small children. There were 3 adults & 1 child on a Saturday morning. We did book as it gets very busy.

What an absolute find on a retail park in Hartlepool. The decor is fab and quirky with amazing lighting 😊 The staff are so friendly and polite. Veggie/ vegan alternate milks it's great. The portions are very generous and the homemade chips are perfect. Mother's day afternoon tea 😋

Been told no table is available if no reservation on Sunday morning. So we stepped out then called to make reservation to be told can use the bench. Came back to find out the same girl who told us no table is available has offered people who came after us a small table near the cashier. When I asked her the reason she didn’t offer us the same table since we came before but she couldn’t answer me!

Went into Cafe today not being in for a while...like the cafe,the Atmosphere is always great the food is delicious...just one small complaint the Tea was freezing by the time we got our meal I think it would be better to be asked if you want your hot drink to be served when you receive the food x

We visited for pancake day as a party of 9 and we weren’t disappointed! The food was fresh and service was fantastic, considering it was busy we waited no more than 5 minutes for coffee to arrive and 15 minutes for food to arrive. The pancakes were perfect, fluffy American style pancakes and the toppings were generous! One of the party opted for the quiche, she commented at how light and delicious the pastry was. Unfortunately my little boy wasn’t feeling to well, the staff couldn’t do enough. Providing a takeaway option as so he didn’t miss out on his pancakes. Looking forward to visiting again!

Was closing for a private event. So we had a bacon sarnie Which was lovely but expensive. 2 lattes and 2 bacon sarnies almost £17 . Waited anoutb15 mins for a table. Staff were lovely

I took my mam here today as looks a lovely cafe! The food was nice enough, but I had to ask for another quiche for my mam as we could see a very long hair in the food as soon as it was placed onto the table, which is really off putting. The staff member did apologise. Staff have hair tied back, but I can't help thinking to practice good food hygiene if the kitchen staff have very long hair then a hair net should be worn. Customer service wasn't great! Was very overpriced, we won't be back.

The food is first class and plentiful. It is apparent that all the staff enjoy working here. It is reflected in the joyous atmosphere and food. The chips are to die for and we ( my sister her husband and I) would all highly recommend the corned beef and onion pie. It was my brother-in-law's birthday and it was mentioned between us. A candle was lit in his corned beef pie and the staff sang a roudy rendition of happy birthday to him. It made his day. Thank you

I’ve been here multiple times before but this was the first time I had visited since they launched their own vegan menu. We came at lunchtime so I had the special toastie which was incredible. The flavours were outstanding and really filled me up. The staff, as always, were really friendly and attentive.

Worst cheese scone I've ever had and at my age have had a few

Probably the best Afternoon Tea we have ever had. The experience started well when we booked and were asked if we had any allergies and did we want sweet or savory. When we arrived we were shown to our reserved table and after a short wait our afternoon tea was brought to us. Everything was fresh and very tasty, portions were very large and the service was excellent.

Have been to Lyla belles a few times now for both breakfast and lunch. The food is always extremely nice, fresh, hot and well cooked. The staff could not be better, everyone who has greeted me or served me have been welcoming, polite and friendly. Never been a mistake with any of my orders. The cakes and cookies on offer are all fresh and totally delicious. But the cherry on top of this great place is they have blankets available for people who need to warm up with a cuppa in the winter, an amazing touch.

The staff were wonderful, friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much for them. The place was absolutely packed when I got there with people waiting for a table. But again, you weren't made to feel rushed. I had a jacket potato with cheese savoury. You could tell the cheese savoury was homemade, it was jam packed with flavour. The slaw was the same. I will be going over and over again. Oh yes, there is also loads of parking.

Waited nearly an hour for 2 breakfast. Eggs benedict should have runny yolks but they were not. Would not rush back. Expensive for OK food and poor service.

What a pleasant place to visit for breakfast! The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. This is far from a greasy spoon. After having my fair share of boring old English breakfasts in the past, I decided to try something different and went for eggs benedict. Let me tell you, it was a game-changer! With two perfectly cooked eggs and a scrumptious sauce, it left me wanting more. They had to substitute the ham with bacon since they ran out, but who doesn't love bacon, right? Hartlepool holds some hidden gems, and this place is definitely one of them. The decor was simply amazing, and the toilets were not only clean but also modern, complete with posh soap and other fancy amenities. My father and fiancee thoroughly enjoyed their meals and drinks as well. The pictures I took capture the essence of this place perfectly, so why not take a peek? This place is so welcoming, the food was amazing (this visit we all had pancakes for breakfast) and the staff work so hard and are so friendly. Amazing little family run business - always so busy (in a good way!) So would recommend booking ahead just incase.

We have visited here a few times for breakfast, which has always been excellent. Today we decided to have our lunch, and it was also excellent. Fresh food, great service with a smile and a lovely atmosphere. I chose the ham salad sandwich, my wife chose the tuna sandwich. Both were extremely tasty and fresh, and there was certainly plenty on the plate. We highly recommend Lyla Belles and will definitely be visiting again.

Came for food with my family 3 of us ordered the cornbeef pie. The menu stated it came with slaw and salad then it came with peas and gravy I asked to change it for the slaw and salad and she said no the menu was printed wrong. I'd of ordered something else if I'd of made made aware. The lady on the till when paying I'd asked her what the desserts where to take away and she said she didn't know so the man making drinks told me. I've never had a bad experience and lyla belles the staff have always been lovely.

Visited today for first time. Impressive layout, really lovely staff and delicious food. I had the sourdough toastie which came with homemade slaw and salad and it was just delightful - sourdough can be a bit dry when toasted but this was perfect - last time I had sourdough this good was in New York! I was that impressed that I've ordered a Coronation Afternoon Tea for 2 after spying a couple of ladies having an afternoon tea at a nearby table! The menu is extensive but not to the point of reducing on quality and dietary needs are taken into consideration. Another plus is that the owners use locally sourced produce therefore small businesses supporting each other. There are events planned and catering is also on offer. It has a nice vibe and access is all on the level with free parking. This cafe would not be out of place in any major city so Hartlepool is very lucky to have it!

Five for Easter high tea. Great food - so much we took some home. Happy friendly staff. Good parking and great access as all on one level. A definite return visit on the books.
