The fab cinnamon buns elevated our coffee stop from great to awesome! Other really yummy cakes are available. Oh, and the vegan tomato pizza swirl looked great too if you fancy a savoury.

After reading about the cafe on the website, we were really looking forward to lunch here. Imagine our disappointment on ordering a baked potato skin and side salad and quiche with same, when we were served with luke warm food and wilted dry green salad. A proper side salad should be absolutely fresh with tomatoes, cucumber, peppers etc. It should look appetising.

Our visit to the castle was very interesting if a little over priced for entry. We were looking forward to scones, jam and cream from the Tables cafe. The scones were nice but the actual cafe was a major disappointment. Having come from a castle with 800 years of continuous family line, you’d think there would be an effort made to be hospitable and, at the least, have traditional Scottish music! Blaring I’m not sure what music, having to line up for hot drinks (a pot of tea for the cream tea…) then line up separately for the scones and cream (in a plastic container). It’s barn-like set out reminded me of a food hall and I think that’s the impression it was trying to give. I was told the jam was over at the side - also in plastic - but at least the knife was biodegradable. All in all, had I realised I would have spent the money somewhere with atmosphere, comfort and tradition.

We visited the castle and had a lovely time, thought we’d have a cup of tea and a cake before heading off. Cafe opening hours stated as until 5 and we went in about twenty to. Just drinking our tea (out of takeaway cups, for some reason they didn’t have any proper ones) having eaten our adequate cake when a very rude female member of staff came out and told us that they were about to close and we would have to leave. Two minutes later (not even five o’clock yet) an even ruder male member of staff came out and practically shouted at us to leave immediately. I have never been spoken to like that in a cafe. I do not think it is unreasonable to actually drink and eat what you have purchased in a proportionate amount of time (especially as there was no mention of imminent closure when we were parting with our cash!)Avoid.

A friend and I went for lunch here, expecting a good, filling lunch. What we got was a £25 bill for what can only be described as a less than mediocre 'lunch'. We had a toastie, coffee and a piece of rocky road each. The toasties were greasy, overfilled with cheese and not very tasty. There are several places nearby where you can get an entire meal and drinks for the same price you'll pay for a less than decent lunch here. Avoid if at all possible. A prime example of making money from tourists who don't know any better.

We ate lunch here during our visit to the nearby castle. The cafe offers soups, spuds, sandwiches and a few hot dishes. I tried the vegetarian curry as it was the only option if you did not a meat sandwich or toastie. It was absolutely terrible. It tasted predominantly of vinegar and was overcooked to oblivion. I could not bring myself to finish it and grabbed a bag of crisps and a shortbread biscuit instead. The shortbread wasn’t very good either, but it was at least edible. My partner had one of the sandwiches made with very cheap bread and ingredients, Extremely pricey for the quality of food. If you are on a budget just bring a sandwich from the Co-op and you will have a better lunch.

We only had a short day in order to see around the castle and little time for a refreshment stop, so the café had to suffice. The choice of soup and roll is usually what we go for and in most Scottish cafes this means a hearty home made soup (most often lentil and ham). Good but not wonderful.

Although this café is pretty and clean the food options are extremely limited. We ate around 1pm and were extremely disappointed at the lack of options. There was one type of soup and no hot sandwich options. There were premade sandwiches but they had sold out of all except one sandwich that looked like it was stuffed with only shredded supermarket cheese. So I ended up eating a dry scone for lunch. So, if you are planning on visiting Dunvegan castle - have your lunch somewhere else before you arrive because this place is a huge disappointment.
