Madd Hatters in Torridge

This is our fourth visit to the gardens and the restaurant. The food has always been imaginative, tasty and well cooked and sufficient in quantity. The only negative this time is the poor service. The waiting staff are lovely people but there aren’t enough of them and they seem to lack leadership and direction. Disappointed that you are not taken to a table and as such we hung around the entrance being ignored before just going to a table! Didn’t feel comfortable that staff actually clocked we were there! Restaurant really needs a change, it can’t cope, which is a shame.

Our Daughter and partner have just recently moved to the village and we were visiting for the first time. Decided to go out for dinner at the Kings Arms. Not disappointed , the food was excellent with a good menu and special board and an excellent pint of stag. Despite being very busy the staff were attentive and friendly. Only disappointment, it’s not my local. Looking forward to returning soon. Thanks

The van runs a generator all day to power the van, noisy and polluting. must be a greener way to run a business.

Great atmosphere in the pub.dog friendly in the bar area but you can still book a table there which I recommend as a busy pub. The menu was varied we had the fish pie which was a good size portion and the fish burger which was outstanding not a frozen one but fresh in a lovley batter.servuce was quick and efficient. Room was spacious. Food was lovely, landlady was extremely helpful and welcoming, she cooked a late meal and early breakfast out of hours. Only reasons this place gets 5 stars is because i cant give 7. Pub dog is named Devon, he is a cutie
