Malik's in Windsor and Maidenhead

Hello, I'm afraid my meal was very poor. So I had dinner with friends at Malik's before Christmas which I was so looking forward to. I ordered the Chicken Jalfrazy which was very dry and a boiled rice for my main course which did n't taste that great. The sauce was not very good and very dry. I had the meal and afterwards came over very unwell at the table. I had hot sweats and then was violently vomiting and passed out. So badly my friends called for an ambulance. They eventually had to drive me to Wrexham Park hospital where I was unwell until 3:00am in the morning. I had aggressive food poisoning or an aggressive reaction to something in the food. No Manager or waiting staff came over to see if I was ok and I was disgusted at this. I'm so grateful my friends were with me to help me. I won't be eating here again any time soon. Thank you.

Food was good, service time was quite long and got a mixed vibe from the staff. Got the order slightly wrong but on a whole was a decent experience.

We had an incredibly frustrating experience at Malik’s Cookham. After our meal where we had our client and our team with us. Post dinner, we politely requested a VAT bill, but instead of receiving a proper receipt, the owner handed us a handwritten note on a blank piece of paper. When we questioned this, his response was shocking—he became extremely rude and abusive. Rather than addressing our concerns professionally, he started yelling at us and insulting us. It was not only unprofessional but completely disrespectful. It’s clear that the owner has no regard for customer service or basic decency. I will never return and strongly advise others to avoid this place at all costs.

Went for team dinner and everything was fine , until the bill was asked. The bill was hand written with no itemised breakup and no mention of VAT on the bill. Clearly malicious in nature and the manager started shouting at us when we asked for itemised bill and VAT receipt. They ruined a good team dinner and a fun night for us. Never going back

My Company for the 2nd Year running took a client to this restaurant for Christmas celebration and what a very disappointing end to an evening purely because a VAT receipt was requested, The owner started shouting and behaved in an abhorrent and threatening manner, obviously hiding something as not an unreasonable request to ask for a valid receipt..... We will never return. His staff even tried to calm down this disgraceful behaviour.

The worst restaurant to go. They don't give bills and are cheating the government on taxes. The owner started shouting when we asked for a proper bill. Please avoid going to this place

We arrived 6.30 on a sat night, staff were very friendly and helpful we decided to go for the banquet @£35 a head they gave us the opportunity to swap out dishes but we couldn’t agree so we just kept as it was.. the word banquet was a understatement soo much good big tray of starters followed by I think 3 mest dishes a seafood dish rices and lots of Sides plus Nan breads absolutely delicious very attentive staff too lovely family birthday meal.

I attended Maliks last night for a charity event, arranged by Mark Mason, to support Thames Hospice. After a few drinks we all sat down for a set meal created by Malik (three courses with a superb choice of flavours). The food was fantastic and the service was incredible. How Malik’s team managed to serve such an excellent hot meal for about 100 people, who all sat down at once, I will never understand. Thank you Mark and Malik for a wonderful evening.

Great food beautiful building and good service. Quite pricy .only problem was the light timer in the bathroom goes after a few minutes leaving you in the dark

A HUGE thank you to Malik who put on a delicious Indian spread for the Cookham 1st Beavers. Was so amazing to see many of the the Beavers try a Curry for the first time...then keep coming back for me. Out of the 40+ Beavers, they all tried and loved Malik's beautiful food. Thanks so much Malik!!!

firstly Malik’s is a very popular restaurant don’t book a table at &pm on a friday night or saturday night it’s very busy at 7pm manic after that especially take aways to which is why Malik had the sense to open a take away near cookham station now please try understand. i’ve been eating in Cookham for 20+ years a have always had a good curry Shahyn is a master chef no one cooks a Madras quite like him although the chef in Marlow who trained under him for many years comes a close 2nd 😊 I have no complaints and i’d say to some sort your times out better if possible , i’m sure there’s a few who are maybe rivals ?? or are just moaners and yes i’m also sure at times maliks have been a little understaffed If your food isn’t right tell them at the time so they can right it. , Majib will be quite willing to put it right 100% i’m in next week for my amazing chicken Madras non better Martin& Cima Reading

Another fantastic Malik’s. We like the spaciousness of the Cookham restaurant as I now prefer a little more distance between our table and others. To us, Malik’s provides a perfect Indian restaurant experience. The food is delicious, the service friendly, the cutlery and crockery clean (so important to me), and the ambience pleasant. The vegetarians in our group are happy with their experience every time. My latest favourite is a starter of tandoori king prawns (mouth watering as I write), followed by nazakat, with pilau rice, Chana dal, saag bhaji. The chicken is extremely tender with a hint of spices - I would highly recommend this dish. A trip to Malik’s is an absolute must whenever our family gets together.

Maliks is one of my favourite places to eat! The food is always excellent and the decor and ambience of the Cookham restaurant turns any meal into an 'occasion'. The owner himself recently donated an incredible banquet to our local primary school staff and we were blown away by his generosity! His attention to detail to ensure that everyone was catered for including their dietary requirements was appreciated by everyone and the food itself was exceptionally good!! Thank you Malik for being such an asset to our community!!

Being a top 20% reviewer and also a development chef who loves Indian food as well as all food generrs, I can honestly say this is the best Indian I have had in a long time. Highly recommend the mixed seafood bhuna. Enjoy!!!

Amazing family owned & run restaurants -best in the world & most lovable people, who I have the pleasure of getting to know in the last 15 years , whilst eating copious amounts of chicken bhuna & pilau rice- I recommend to all my clients, friends & relatives- no where else quite like this place

For me personally, for all the countries I've been to, this is the best food I have had in an Indian restaurant every. The venue is cosy and intimate, the wine selection is great, gin selection - even better but the food, in my humble opinion, is to die for. Couples who like Indian food will love this place, in my opinion. My only issue is when I go to another Indian restaurant, I will be comparing them.

This is, hands down the best Indian in the area and beyond. Sensational. The King Prawn Shashlik and the Tandoori Monk Fish are next level Indian food. Off the charts good.

Why state time for pick up and then make the customer wait for 15 minutes ? I've been going to Maliks for years , more recently for take aways and never had this experience before . The food remains good but very poor service this evening .

I start with the poppadoms being super fresh. Then the smallest naan bread I've ever seen, fairly tasteless paneer and then bland lamb. I'm very disappointed. Wouldn't return or recommend

We are regulars at Malik’s and it’s always a class experience from start to finish. You get a classic Indian restaurant experience but what elevates it is the outstanding hospitality, consistency, attention to detail and quality of the dishes, surroundings and experience itself. We often order it to takeout, it’s always fantastic dishes and a great service- hot, well packed, ready on time and with friendly professional service. Our child is very fussy with food and Malik’s butter chicken and naan never fails, so we make sure to get it a couple of times a month. It’s a godsend, well worth the money.

Just had my first experience at Malik’s in Cookham. Food was excellent, good sized portions, and excellent taste. Will definitely be back to sample more of the excellent menu. Staff were very attentive, but not in your face. Thanks for a wonderful meal!

We had our Christmas eve dinner here with friends. We had booked a separate room and had one of the banquet meals. The service was rude and inattentive. I asked to see the menu to see what I was being served (I'm pregnant and lactose intolerant, as well as a few other things) and the waiter just laughed and said it'll be ok. But still didnt bring the menu or say what was being served. Just that it was 'all tolerant'. We ordered our drinks but also asked asked for a jug of water - which we were refused. He brought a bottle of water. When that finished, my friend insisted on a jug of water, which we got one of (and this was never replenished.) They were only interested in getting us out as soon as possible- didn't offer desserts. Despite the banquet menu including this. They came around with the card machine - but no bill/receipt. Just stated it was £55 per person, and expected us to pay up. The food quality itself was just average- bland ..what you'd expect from a watered-down 'Asian' meal. There was no authenticity. Definitely wouldn't have pinned it to Indian cuisine. (I've actually made better at home from pre-packed pouches!) I just didn't think all that was worth the hefty £55 bill we each paid! Will not be returning, so disappointed.

This restaurant is definitely dining out on long gone excellence. The service was surly and abrupt (locals treated differently) and was changed tables mid meal to accommodate a party of 2. The food is both highly overrated and overpriced. The King Prawn Tandoori Masala was in essence vile, heavy with coconut and cloying sweetness — nothing like a true tikka, and there was no char or smokiness on the prawns. Deeply disappointing food for the price and arrogant service.

Birthday event for over 40 people Excellent service with the food arriving all together was some feat by the kitchen. Food was excellent and very tasty! No hesitation in recommending Malik's for your curry evening

My wife booked a banquet for my birthday and invited 40 of my friends. The service was second to none and Malik and his team could not have done any more to make the evening one to remember. The food was cooked to perfection and everyone was so delighted with the quality and flavours, what a fabulous chef. We were able to choose which banquet we wanted and discussed what we required for the evening, Malik provided us with a private room and this again was part of Malik's attention to detail. He went out of his way to ensure the evening went smoothly. We have been many times before as a couple and with friends and we have always had a wonderful evening. Many of my friends have returned and after this weekend many more will be. I have had texts and calls saying how good the food was and what a brilliant evening. Thank you Malik and team for all you did. See you again soon.

Malik’s Cookham restaurant played host to my son’s 50th Birthday Party yesterday evening 4th November 2023. The food, service and general attention to detail was 1st class and made the evening a great success. I would unreservedly recommend it. Thank you to Malik and his great team of chefs and waiting staff.

Booked quite last minute but they were happy to fit us in. Food was excellent, a good range of curries and some a little different from your run of the mill Indian rrstaurant. Two of our party have experience of Indian cooking and the y both said the best Ibdian food they have tasted in a long while. Plan to go back next time we are in the area

Suspected case of food poisoning. I came here with friends on the 02/09/23 for the first time. I thought it had a good reputation for good food, the restaurant was busy when we was there. At the time I did think the food tasted nice, however when we was leaving we had to exit from the front of the restaurant as they had all their staff doing something with the drains in the car park, it smelt disgusting 🤮 when we was going to the car. The next day I started to not feel well at all, having sickness and diarrhoea. I have just recovered from their obviously contaminated food, thinking about it now the fact that they had kitchen staff outside trying to fix the sewage issue doesn’t give me high hopes that hygiene is paramount in this restaurant. I would definitely not go to any of their restaurants again and strongly recommend people do not risk it and avoid this restaurant.

Visited on August bank holiday Sunday without a reservation. They found us a comfortable table and provided excellent t attentive service. The food was some of the best I’ve had from an Indian restaurant (I’ve been to a few) especially the lamb and king prawn dishes. Definitely recommended!

I was told about Malik's in Cookham a while ago but had never tried their food. I got a take away (korai chicken and basmati rice) mid week. It was delicious. The rice was fluffy and the sauce very fragrant. My best indian take away ever.

This is the Rolls Royce of North Indian dining! Malik sets high standards on all aspects of the experience.

Went for diner with the family (5 people) on a Saturday evening. Great service, very attentive staff. The food was very tasty, we all tried different dishes and were all very happy with our choices. The mixed starters were excellent. Very small carpark, managed to find a space as we got there quite early (about 7pm).

Visited this Restaurant due to the great reviews and reccomendations and couldn't be more impressed. It was fast service with friendly staff and the food continued to impress. The staff were attentive and the food was cooked to a high standard. Whilst dining my colleague spilt a drink on the table which was cleaned and replaced by the staff free of charge which was a kind and nice touch and was appreciated. Would definately recommend this restaurant to friends. The prices were more than we are used to but the prices reflected the quality of the food so it was worth it for lovely food and experience. One of the fine dinning restaurants and Bar in Cookham. Good quality and tasty food items. The restaurant is British style with Indian food items. The served quantity also were plenty. The ambience is very neat with round tables, enough for a family of 5 to 6 members. The service is also very polite and quick. Car parking is also available adjacent to hotel. Overall it was a nice experience of dinning.

Our first visit here and the restaurant is certainly nicely decked out and feels classy. We ordered the mixed main starter (x2), 2 garlic naans, a keema naan, chicken massallam and chicken korai. 2 glasses of wine and 3 drinks. The starters were okay, king prawn was chewy, chicken nazakat was only goujon sized, the potato dish was the best part. Naans were oily (drizzled with ghee) and the main dishes again were average. For those saying this is the best Indian food, you may want to take a trip 25 miles east to Southall! Our bill came to over £100. About 30% more than we anticipated. It was not a problem, but we felt that the quality and price were mutually exclusive.

I feel a restaurant can be judged by their attitude to solo diners. The food here is good if expensive. The attitude is dreadful. The owner rudely removed my tablecloth before I’d left the table. He then added a £4 service charge to the bill...

We had the buffet lunch on Sunday. As mentioned by previous reviewers it is worth booking a table in advance. There was an excellent range of meat and vegetarian choices and the food was delicious. The desserts were an added bonus. The service was friendly and helpful and the meal was excellent value. We will definitely return.

We heard about Malik's food so made it a destination for our next trip to England. Food and service were both EXCELLENT. The restaurant is a beautiful setting for truly wonderful food, surprisingly inexpensive for the quality of food. I haven't had better Indian cuisine anywhere. Definitely will be back for more.

Discriminated against, video evidence of the Assistant Manager ABDUL openly victimising me, abusing me and defaming me in front of customers having spent £1000’s in this establishment the Assistant manager is a shameful human being. Video evidence will be posted to YouTube for all people to know the true candour of this establishment. Money taken week in/out and they singled out to roll out personal vendetta. Will be taking this matter to court, callous people like this should never be in the industry. Not award winning anymore. This is a real review, I have camera phone footage of the racism and discrimination received from this organisation.

Probably better food and less expensive than the other Indian restaurant across the road in Cookham. However not at the level of the top tier Indian restaurants.

We have dined at the various restaurants and take out options with Malik’s probably two dozen times. It never disappoints and their commitment to quality is evident.

Feel racially abused by this establishment, surprising of the lack of equality in employment totally reflected by the managers treatment of me!
