Super choice of cask ales reasonably priced & awards. Bar snacks good value. Landlord (Andy) keeps traditional pub decor and uses local breweries. Defo worth a visit. Cheating Fox was great pint! B back soon.😋

Visited early evening, on Wednesday’s 9 & 16 October. Great selection of cask ales, from light to dark. Very friendly staff and customers. Had a couple of pints, and would’ve had one more but for train cancellations

The pub is stunning inside. Great tasty sandwiches and a lots of choice of real ales. Friendly staff. And some great music on Sunday normally.

Excellent pub a short walk from the southbound platform of Chorley station. Great destination for real ale at a good price. The sandwiches and pies are also great value. Friendly atmosphere. Making my 4th visit in April 2024. This time with Tima and Casta rather than on way home from a football game. A super pub to return to. 9 real ales. Had a Crafty Fox bitter. Butties now £1..less than a bag of crisps in most pubs. Rear beer garden and smoking area. Another magnificent fireplace. A couple of TV's. Good taste in music. Probably the best beer selection in Chorley..which is a beer destination!

Popped in on a recommendation, lovely place, nice warm and cozy old time feel, warm fire, nice people, excellent ale.. Porteresque! Irish cream for me, cracking stuff and fair pricing will make this a more regular stop on my evenings about town.

What a great little pub. Loved it.

Great place for connoisseurs of real ale. I've been visiting for around 35/40 years. Food is a basic selection of barm cake sandwiches or mini pork pie, but gets 5 stars because of the quality and variety for the price is amazing. On this occasion I visited with friends and everyone enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of serious ale drinkers and no rowdies which is always the case in my experience. I don't live in Chorley, but the journey is worth the effort.

Great choice of cask ales and lagers, spotlessly clean and close to town centre.

Great place on the edge of the town centre. Loads of on street parking nearby. 9 real ales were available during my visit, all pumps in use. 4 of the beers were from West Yorkshire, including 2 from Ossett. I had a pint of Goose Eye - Spring Wells which was bang on!! I was disappointed that the barman was vaping in the bar, stood next to the toilet door!! A great example of how all pubs should be and used to be!

Fabulous old style unpretentious British boozer just outside the town centre. The exact sort of pub you’d find on Eastenders or other British soap dramas. Good products, prices and service. Very busy at peak periods. I love it in here.

this was the first time i visited the Malt & Hops with my friends as they have visited before. we were looked after by the barman and other members of staff. the beer we had,( west coast ) was of a great taste. we will definitely be calling in for more drinks very soon.

Best pub in Chorley.. proper pub. And as a Guiness lover, it is hands down the best pint of Guiness I've had and that's including a few trips to Ireland. Full of nice people, cheap prices, very cool and eccentric.

This Is the best pub in Chorley, Sunday nights the atmosphere is amazing as there is a singer on and the weekend is brilliant you won't experience anything like it. Cheap and welcoming a 1min walk from the train a must have visit. Lisa the manger is lovely lady will welcome you and with open arms . I would definitely 100% recommended.

First visit to Malt n hops for quite some time. A traditional pub serving real ales and live entertainment and quizzes available on some nights. Busy on this visit,but was served quickly by friendly staff. Try not to leave it quite as long until next visit - but no guarantee knowing me😂🍺

Good service and excellent ambience

This is a proper pub, traditional as a pub should be. Amazingly they have 9 yes 9 cask ales on hand pump. My first visit but the manager Lisa and landlord where extremely welcoming and friendly. Out the back is a lovely little beer garden with plenty of shelter and even rolled up fleece blankets if you're feeling a little chilly. The entire pub is spotless including the toilets. This is a real homely pub . Sadly I dont live in the area however I will definitely return as often as I can.

Lovely friendly pub that sells craft beers at very reasonable prices. Dogs welcome inside, as well as in the beer garden. Live groups on every Sunday teatime. They sell pork pies 50p and barmcakes with various fillings for a £1. Brilliant.

Classic British pub , 5 real ales on at great prices. Called in for a few while staying in town , rather quiet for a Saturday night which is nice for me but not for the landlord.

I love this place. It's exactly what you want from a boozer.
