We went to the Malt Shovel on Sunday to have a meal as we always go to this place and love the food but this time we also have been server by a lovely lady Rose, she made our evening very cozy, and the food was delicious.

Lovely gastro pub on the side of the canal - highly recommend - so nice that we usually visit once or twice a week food is delicious - the steaks are our go to - cooked to perfection and the staff are so friendly and attentive - great job all and so nice to have some familiar faces back

Love this pub by the canal. Somehow I've only been here in winter, and every time I tell myself I should come back in summer to sit outside. The pub is cozy with small alcoves and sifferent levels with plenty of choice for seating. There's a few log burners which is just lovely. Food is great, and not just out from the freezer! Good options for vegetarians too. Plenty of parking. If you've walking the 'Huntsmoor Park and Little Britain Lake from Brunel University' trail, this is a great stop at the end.

Had a beautiful meal with my partner. The log burner, decor and ambiance was fitting for the cold weather outside. Food was amazing (would definitely recommend the pie!) and prices were reasonable. There was also lovely vegetarian options (and vegan too!). Our highlight was Ebony who provided excellent service by accommodating our needs, checking up how we were and whether we were happy for the food and also was very sociable and chatty (which is a must in my eyes!). Based on this, I definitely recommend this place and will be going back for another meal soon.

Really nice pub/restaurant by the canal. Menu has had a revamp but lots of good choices and the whole place has had a small renovation which has brought out some more character. Warm and cosy in the winter but also in the summer it's nice to have a beer and snacks in the garden or by the canal. Good choice of beers and wines.

A very warm welcome from Simona and Ervis. The food was great and the atmosphere was exceptional we will come back again soon.

We visited the molt and shovel for our five year anniversary dinner. Not only was the food amazing and the fore place warm but the service we recieved from Ebony was top service. She was friendly, service was quick and happy to answer any of our questions. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely service from Tiarney. Had the Sunday Roast which was flavourful. The pub is nice and pleasant. Very clean, with a lovely atmosphere.

Our visit was on Christmas Day and although very busy the service was speedy and food excellent. Serving personnel were very friendly and helpful. We couldn't finish all the food as the servings were huge so we were able to have a "doggie bag" to take home. Very lovely experience. Thank you one and all.

Good pub and the waitress Simone was brilliant and attentive. Would recommend to people for a nice atmosphere and food.

We loved the roast , their gravy is very nice. It has become a family favourite.

Waited over an hour from starter to main. Mains arrived..6 ordered 5 came, wad told sorry we haven't got the Wellington! 3 out of the 5 meals were microwaved. Summary: service rubbish, food rubbish. Will not be going again & a 2 rating is generous

Had an amazing time! The food was amazing. And the service was just as good. Our starter was the cheesy flatbread and I was so impressed with how much cheese was actually on the flatbread. Not one crumb was left! We all had steaks and they were cooked beautifully and went down a treat for us all. The only request I would have is to have a little bit more icecream for the puddings, but this problem could have been solved if I had just asked for some more! I believe our server was Rose and she was incredible! Never had to wait on anything and she always checked we had everything we wanted. Friendly face and amazing service! Would love to visit again and will recommend to all.

Very nice place to drink and chill. Canal view is very good. Best place to spend a day and have a party. Ervis, was very welcome . He arranged everything for a big party and leah our waitresses was amazing

A lovely modern restaurant that's still has that lovely charm and old look along the canal .very cozy inside. Staff absolutely great and the food exceptional. I'd definitely would return again

We had a lovely experience at The Malt Shovel, staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. The pub itself felt very festive and cozy, perfect for the Winter ahead and a very inviting bar and selection. The food we ordered was delicious, 3 out of 4 of us ordered the pie of the day which was delicious, along with accompaniments and a very good portion. We will definitely be back, and we very much enjoyed the pub quiz. Definitely on the pricier side but we had an offer by signing up the app which was a nice bonus.

I regularly eat at this pub. The food is probably the best in the area and it has a decent range of beers, etc. Staff are always friendly, but service on occasion can be hit and miss. There have been a few occasions when going to the bar I've encountered a few patrons looking puzzled because there is no one behind the bar.

Lovely atmosphere, apparently it was done up recently. Huge portion of fish and chips and lovely lemon tart dessert. We had the elderflower drink and it was so refreshing. Definitely coming again for xmas.

When it comes to London pubs, you don't get much more cosy and wholesome than The Malt Shovel. The atmosphere was warm, vibrant, and the service by Amy and Leah was impeccable. Will definitely come back.

We were here last night for drinks Today we booked a table for 7 for Sunday roast We were asked to open a tap to order our drinks, which we did We ordered our Sunday roast on the app, which we paid upfront Our different Sunday roast was very tasty After we finished, we have to wait for more than 30 minutes to pay for the drinks - on the tap - as the system was down. We couldn’t neither leave nor pay or order more drinks or get complementary coffee. The supervisor Simona was not very professional as she was only shouting / panicking giving no proper answer whether how long we should wait or if the bill can be sent to our phone. Finally we were told that the system was back to normal and that we could pay our drinks ( invoice is attached ) Very disappointing —////—-// Last night - October 26 - We had dinner & drinks, a £30 was deducted from the bill. Thanks

Probably my favourite place to eat locally.

I'm not sure if it's worth coming back here. We came for a family lunch, the service was slow, we ordered a bottle of wine which was left in a bucket with ice by the side of the table, not opened or served. Finally the food arrived, and then we had to wait 25 minutes for the bill to be brought to us, the waitress said "you have to go to the bar to pay" ok we went and were asked for the physical card as apple pay is not accepted, wait a minute...what?.

Lovely refurbishment, decor is so nice. Food was very good and we were served by an excellent waitress called Ebony who was very helpful and patient with us. This was my second visit recently and we will be returning.

Pub Quiz on a Tuesday Night is fun

Excellent service and food in lovely surroundings. Menu was varied and food plentiful. We were a party of 15 and nothing was too much trouble for the staff; we were seved promptly and everyone agreed the food was excellent. A great place to eat and would throughly recommend.

I would like to say that myself and my two friends had such a lovely lunch today at the malt shovel, and would like to thank Katie especially for her warm welcome and wonderful service she gave us.

Lovely meal here with my dad. Devour is good, The view is lovely. Cauliflower cheese is fab. Trio roast was delicious.

Tried the shovel for the first time since it was updated. Things started well, we were shown to our table and our order was taken by a very professional young lady who told us it was her first day serving as she was normally behind the bar. Our starters came and were excellent... And that's where it started to go wrong. Before we'd finished eating our starters our mains arrived. We pointed out to the young man that they were pretty useless to us at this point seeing as we still had our starters to finish. He took them back to the kitchen and we spoke to the member of staff who took our order who assured us that fresh meals would be cooked for us and brought to the table after a suitable time. What happened next was surprising, the meals we were given clearly weren't fresh and clearly were the ones brought to our table earlier having sat under warming lights for 15 minutes or so. The bun on my burger was dry and crispy, everything on the plate was hot including the sauce and salad that clearly should have been chilled. The mushy peas on my wife's plate had a thick skin on them, the fish grimly dry and sad looking. Yum yum. We went and found the member of staff serving us and on being told she looked horrified by what we'd been given apologised and ushered us to the manger. At this point things might have been saved but while she was apologetic and willingly subtracting the cost of our disastrous mains offered nothing more, no drinks on the house, no discount of any kind. Just a request that we give them another chance. Lol. Sadly I didn't keep a copy of the bill so I'm left with a horrible feeling I actually paid a service charge for the pleasure of having half a meal. The starters were great, some of the staff are excellent but something is very wrong. Thanks for replying but you had several chances to make things right while we were in the restaurant. We've no intention of returning, customers lost forever.

I haven't been to the Malt Shover for quite some time, and so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has had a bit of a makeover. We booked a room for a wake and had a buffet lunch, which was very good for the price. The room was very well set out with a door to the canal towpath. I would recommend this lovely little pub/restaurant. And will be very happy to visit again, albeit for a happier occasion.

Food very good, but Turkey stuffing looked and tasted like a 1cm thick piece of wood pellet - obviously from Iceland and overheated . The turkey, Yorkshire pud, gravy and veg were nice. Kids enjoyed their pizza. Service was very good and serving staff (Tristan) very pleasant and helpful.

We are regular customers of Malt Shover, manly for brunches or lunches outdoor in front of the canal. Always have great time with good food and wine there. Yesterday we had dinner for the first time there after the renovation done in July. Excellent new menu after renovation with grilled lamb, wine, lemon cake, cosy atmosphere and great service. Thanks to all the staff there. We’ll be back soon
