Great food and a very relaxed atmosphere. Excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend. The staff were very attentive.

First visit and would go back. Loads of choice and a great atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Staff friendly and attentive. Only disappointment was the garlic mushroom starter. Cold and sent back on first attempt then seen they were cheap cooking mushrooms that were very watery. They should always be made with button mushrooms considering the price.

Held my 60th birthday here. 40 family and friends took up half the restaurant and the team were awesome. Nothing was too much trouble and they made sure I had a night to remember. Food was awesome (best lasagne!!) and I would definitely most highly recommend

Booked this restaurant due to the good reviews. My sister and I were having a stay overnight in the area. We had a great evening. We went for a meal here recently. September 2024. The food was actually really nice and quite reasonably priced but the experience wasn’t as good as what it could have been due to poor service and feeling like we weren’t really important or valued by the staff. The first thing was the timing the courses were presented. The starters came literally 2 minutes after we ordered and before they even brought our drinks. Once we’d finished they were gone within 30 seconds and then the mains came within 5 mins. Felt really rushed. Then it took almost 45 minutes for the deserts to arrive and another half an hour to get the bill. We are a young couple but we regularly eat in nice restaurants (without wanting to sound snobby, this is probably one of the cheapest restaurants we’d usually go to) and one thing we come across more than we should is feeling like we’re not important to the staff or treated with not as much respect as you might expect. Whether this is because of our age I don’t know but we had the same experience here. Firstly our wine came (the most expensive wine on the menu) with no wine cooler. Everyone else’s came with one. I had to request one. Our mains were delivered and we hadn’t been given any cutlery. Everyone else got lemoncello shots with the bill. We didn’t until much later on. Little things but it really impacts an experience. I would recommend going for the food though as it is nice especially for the price but the service etc meant it wasn’t as good as it could have been and I won’t be rushing back.

Vibrant yet cosy and authentic restraunt. As a lone diner I was made to feel very welcome. Complementary olives and bread unexpected and a nice touch. Would definitely recommended if you happen to find yourself in Pontefract for the evening

This was our first time at mamma Mia and wasn't disappointed from the freindly staff to the efficiency of the arrival of our food,hot and very tasty considering the place was packed and nothing was an issue for the staff, if I had any negative points would be get there early as parking is premium or get a taxi but definitely worth a visit and we will be back.

I cannot speak highly enough of Mamma Mia. We have never experienced anything but excellent food and service here and this weekend was the icing on the cake - we had a party of 21 for my husband's special birthday and the whole night ran like clockwork. We pre-ordered on the Togo link and this was so straightforward, communication was excellent leading up to the night, then on the night itself, the manager was at our table the whole time while food was being brought out to ensure everyone got the correct order. Nobody was left waiting around and the 5 children (including a small baby) in our party were very well accommodated and looked after. The food was outstanding - not one person out of 21 had anything bad to say and our special night was made extra special by Mamma Mia. We will definitely be back and highly recommend them for any occasion.

Food good, well most of it. Starters excellent but the rump steak poor and presentation worse. Salad was thrown on and mushrooms deep fried! The chair I sat on was stained unbelievably and paint was flaking off the walls. Friends recommend this place but I’ve tried it three times and I’m done. It certainly isn’t the Italian restaurant it advertises as. That said from the reviews other people think it’s great, so you decide……

We were a large party and Mamma Mia’s service was fantastic from beginning to end. The booking system for larger parties was perfect and meant we could pre-order and pay swiftly at the end, great system. The service was always with a smile and we were served promptly even though the place was full of customers. Great evening thank you! We will be returning :)

What a great meal again. They managed to squeeze us in due to a cancellation. WE opted for Calzone pizza and Calzone kiev, both were absolute delicious, the best I've had not just here but anywhere. Thanks Mama Mias

fantastic. The food was really good, there were 6 of us and everyone said they enjoyed it. Because the food is fresh cooked it can be adapted to your taste which is a big bonus. The price is very reasonable for the amount and quality. Also the price of the drinks is very reasonable for a restaurant. The staff and owners are all very friendly and attentive. We will all be visiting again very soon

Another First Class meal and evening at Mama Mia! From walking through the door to leaving the atmosphere was welcoming, warm and friendly. Friday night was busy but managed to squeeze a booking in during the afternoon. Starter of stuffed focaccia Crudo was new to me, but wonderfully light, tasty and very well presented. A perfect mix of Parma ham and mozzarella. The addition of a drizzle of chilli oil really gave it a nice kick. The Tagiatelle Mama Mia was full of flavour and a great sized portion. Calzone Meat Feast with extra chilli’s was superb - packed full of meat and cheese. House wine was very drinkable - perhaps too quaffable! Thanks to Gino and the team for looking after us.

I booked a large party of 21 for my work colleagues, from booking, pre-order and through to the meal the service was exemplary, really helpful, attentive and so well looked after. We must have had the entire menu and it was all beautifully cooked and lovely and hot despite the number of us, nothing was too much trouble and I cannot recommend this lovely restaurant highly enough. We will 100% be back. Special shout out to Anna for everything xxxx

We just don’t go often enough here as a family but it is our go to place. Nothing is too much trouble for this hardworking family run business. The food is delicious and very well cooked. It has authenticity and we never fail to say this and we get reminiscing about going to Italy on holiday - my 94 year old mum says we could live in Italy we love Italian food so much I’d just camp out at mama Mia! I will never stop reviewing this place. Highly recommended

Went with friends, and the atmosphere was ok but the food was terrible. I was going to give 1 star but i will give it two because i remember this place from childhood so it brings back good memories. Cant remember the food being this bad though. Service was average.

Lovely venue. Everyone was great, starters were lovely . Wife's food was lovely. My pizza on the other hand was a soggy piece of slop. It was basically a piece of dough dipped in Bolognese sauce.

We have been to Mamma Mia’s many times! The restaurant is a family favourite of ours so if we are having a family gathering we always book Mamma Mia’s as we know we won’t be disappointed! We were told about this restaurant after moving to Pontefract in spring this year. The food is fab, the atmosphere is great and we've been several times as a couple. We decided to hold our company Christmas meal here also and again it didn't disappoint. It was extremely busy but Gino and the staff worked so hard making sure everyone was happy. Great food, great service and great value.

We were staying in Pontefract for a junior sporting event, and wanted a change from the restaurant at our Premier Inn. We like Italian food, and this restaurant had some great reviews, so it was an easy choice. We were slightly startled when we arrived, because it felt like we had walked into a boisterous pub rather than a restaurant. It turned out though that the large restaurant is in a separate room to the bar area, and we were shown straight to our table. It was already very busy in the restaurant with several large family/birthday parties, and based on previous experiences elsewhere we were slightly worried that service might suffer. But no, our drinks order was taken straight away, we were given some complimentary bread to nibble, drinks arrived very quickly, and we were able to place our food orders as soon as we were ready. The food was mostly excellent - my beef stroganoff with rice was delicious - and there was a very wide choice. The only thing which slightly disappointed was my arancini starter, but that may be down to me having previously been spoilt by someone else's fabulous arancini. Service was first-class, and two people who may have been the owner and his son were always around to make sure things ran smoothly. All in all, a very enjoyable meal and evening generally, and we plan to return when next in the area.

Our first time ever and we will defenetly be back. From the atmosphere to the friendly and kind staff to the amazing food the whole experience was great. The chicken was cooked lovely and homemade chips were the best. Even the ice cream and cho olate cake to end was lovely. It tasted fresh and not at all dry which I find alot normally when out.
