Mammas in Canterbury

AVOID! I rung up and ordered food for the family. Was told 30 minutes for collection, which was fine. The operator/server sounded so dope that it took 30 seconds to respond to my order. Even then he got it wrong! Turned up and only then did they start cooking. Found out the hoisin sauce was no longer available and proceeded to wait a further 20 minutes for them to cook the order in slow motion. When I complained at the point of payment I was told to leave without the food and was quite happy for a customer not to return. I really don't complain often and when I do it's for good reason and genuine. Usually they take it in good grace and offer a solution to solve the crap service.

The chicken was terrible and so oily it was not cooked properly. When i spoke to the owner about this he did not only speak so Rudely to me he also didn’t listen to what I had to say about his food.

Sorry but no more, it's the usual story, started off really good, fresh, tasty and value great, now its just bland and not a good taste chicken, been like it the last 2 times so won't be back anymore. Shame but that's how it goes!

Terrible service kept waiting 35 40 minutes for a order food was terrible chicken was so dry ribs were absolutely disgusting and the chips for soggy I will never eat there again not worth the £43 I paid for it

1st time I had ordered. great food would not go back to KFC after having this. good value for money. only negative is that it took an hour but that's to be expected, obviously popular. would order again

Always a winner with Mammas. It was early last night, but very much welcomed. Food, as always, very hot and very delicious. First time pizza order, and we weren’t disappointed. I’m not a big fan of too much base with my pizza, so a thin crust option would be great 👍🏻. Definitely our go to for Friday night takeaway. Keep up the good food 🎉

Garlic pizza bread was the best I’ve ever had. However the chicken wings were not cooked all pink inside

chicken was dry and the chicken wasn’t cooked i didn’t eat the rest of the chicken because how bad it was i would like a refund please

food werent that great the chicken tower burger turned with the box open so i didnt even decide to eat, even though i never ate it i asked for no mayonnaise but it turned up with some some goey red substance on it. then the Cheesy chips what can I say there was more cheese on the bottom of the box than there was cheese on the chips. the lasagne weren't to bag the popcorn chicken was dryer than gandi's flip flop.

I remember back when we were kids mamma would prepare us platters of 3Pcs Jalapeno Crunchies, 3Pcs Chicken Dippers 3Pcs Chicken Nuggets, 3Pcs Mozzarella Sticks 6Pcs Onion Rings,1 Portion of Potato Wedges and 2 Dips - so it's of no surprise that this was a complete trip down nostalgia lane for me indulging in said platter from this fine establishment. "Mamma", I would say, "Mamma make sure them Jalapenos is extra crunchy, and don't you be skanking on the onion rings neither. I want the full on 6". Well, she always only gave us 3, despite promising 6 and ignoring my childish sass, which I've never forgiven her for. Imagine then my disappointment when this Mamma's platter also came with only 3 onion rings. It should be at least 4. Odd number I suppose. It was like a proverbial slap across my face from beyond the grave, my Mamma's grave that is. Hence why I am only giving 3 stars on my review, and to think you could have had 6!

Best in the Town.! Fabulous chicken outlet in the town. hot with a slightly spicy crunchy coating and it was great & Yummy. The menu is mostly chicken with some few other variety. First I thought it's gonna be something like KFC, but it was different, and then have many verities. fusion of English and South Asian chicken verities was good and obviously better than any chicken fast food chain, as the chicken tasted fresh. friendly staffs and fast service. must visit. Recommended.

They are the rudest people to speak to they hardly know what there doing and they rip you off by not allowing you to order a meal for delivery and make you order it separately which doubles the price. These sort of things shouldn’t be allowed. And there’s no point in going in to collect it to make it cheaper because you will still be waiting a hour for it

They close at 10pm and I went in 9pm.they refused to cook fresh hot wings as there was a hour to finish and start laughing like I'm joking. I will be putting rats in the letter box so I wouldn't eat here if I was you

Absolutely sick to death of the service received by this place. Have been going to mammas since last year... The first 2 or 3 meals were amazing! Thought- "bingo, finally a good takeaway chicken shop in Herne Bay"....then it all changed... Have repeatedly given this place the benefit of the doubt and have kept going back to see if it would improve again but no, it's got worse... Have had food from here 3 times this year...it's taking 5 minutes for you to be acknowledged in the shop, we ring and pre order to be told to collect in 10 minutes- so we turn up and some of the food hasn't even been cooked, the rest of it has been sat for god knows how long (we live 30 seconds away and it was stone cold upon opening it). In January we ordered over the phone to be told to collect in 45 minutes, we arrived to collect it and was kept waiting another 45 minutes. The portion sizes have shrunk drastically. The staff are rude and extremely difficult to communicate with. They have ZERO customer service skills. Ordered a pizza online, told to collect it in 45 minutes, turn up and they claim that they haven't received my order, even though the money has left my bank account and the man was stood with my order on a receipt in his hand. Pizza all tasted of nothing...multiple toppings but all just tasted the same. Shop full of angry and frustrated customers who left and returned with their order with missing items- in the time that I waited for my order to be cooked (in total- 1 hour and 30 minutes). Website is a shambles, ordering over the phone is a shambles, mammas is a shambles... Would rather travel 5 minutes up the road to the worst KFC in Kent. It's a shame this place has got so bad because at first they were great ...now they're just taking advantage over and over again...it's no wonder there wasn't a soul in there on new year's eve. Won't be returning or recommending again

Absolutely tip top. Whoever makes the lasagna really knows how to cook - there was the right amount of nutmeg in the béchamel and the meat sauce was rich and meaty…the whole thing was delicious. Great spicy rice - really enjoyed the Greek salad which was huge and so fresh. By the far the best delivery food in the area and great value. This is my 3rd time ordering will definitely order again. Nice delivery driver also.

Our favourite place to order from in Herne bay ..the peri peri chicken is beautiful and the fried chicken is nicer then kfc ..definitely recommend if you are a chicken lover 🤍

After having to already wait an hour and a half for the original delivery time it was then another 20 minutes late without any update or letting us know. The food was cold and medicore at best as well as missing items from my order. Definitely will not be ordering from here again!

The Food delivery was late and when we contacted the restaurant the staff hung up the call without giving us any information about the order.

Ordered at 18.26, arrived 20.13. This is our second order, although it took longer than expected food was top class 100 times better than our local kfc. I would highly recommend 👌

Best pizza we have had in a long time!!

I rarely jump on here to review but I’m so impressed. The Lasagna is a proper lasagna, meaty and cheesy, the Peri chicken is moist and full of flavour - so many aren’t and they were both delicious. It tastes like good quality home cooked food. Recommended.

I used to like this place, I originally gave 5 stars on my first purcahse review. However this time it was quite late coming. I understand sometimes busy and it was Friday night. But the food wasn't usual quality. Won't be ordering again. Shame really, I'll miss their 'used-to-be' tasty southern fried chicken.

We stopped ordering from KFC because of how terrible the service and food was. We’ve order from Mammas a few times now and they never disappoint. Food always arrives hot and always on time.

Although the food was a little late, it was hot and delicious as usual. They have not disappointed with the quality of the food so far! Really the best alternative to the really bad KFC we are stuck with! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed! Keep up the good food!

Best takeaway in Herne Bay. Food's consistently good and they even threw in some free chicken with a big order.

We only ordered 3 chicken wings and chips meal and the main man told us 20 to 25 mins which was fine but then we went back in about 30 mins later and he told us another 15 mins we ended up waiting 50 minutes. The chips weren’t cooked properly they we’re really weird just a bad place really needs new staff it’s just a shame that’s the only chicken shop near by

First time order from mamas tonight.Food was good, hot and plenty of it 👍🏻 I wouldn't usually complain about lateness but as i pre ordered by 90 minutes i think being late by 30 minutes isn't acceptable. When I telephoned to chase the order the guy I spoke to was very blasé and was desperately trying to brush me off. I did get free chicken wings so 🤷🏻‍♂️
