Popped in for drink, lovely place. Staff really friendly. Next time we will stay for food.

Had the Salt and Pepper noodles. really juicy and tender chicken and a hearty and substantial meal lots of Chinese ve. Be warned it is rather spicy but really very good

We are a local family who have enjoyed many a delicious meal on specials occasions. The shock that we had today was horrific and I can only describe the experience as a complete disgrace on every level. On arriving, the restaurant was freezing which matched the frosty reception from the staff. What has previously been a fantastic menu with a delicious array of steaks and Asian fusion was far from the small pickings on offer today. There was nothing of inspiration on offer including a fish and chips and burger which was abysmal when it arrived. When ordering drinks the waitress couldn’t leave the table fast enough… before all the drinks had been ordered. The poor service continued when our main course cutlery was place in-front of us before our starter plates had been removed. When we requested another bottle of wine, we were given a ‘new’ bottle which had been half drunk before it arrived at our table…. Simply unforgivable. When ordering the steak frites, we asked for it to be cooked medium, to which we were told the only options were medium rare or well done…. So we ordered 2 medium rare. Well when they arrived the first was more than well done and extremely chewy. After they served the second (when the table had finished their main courses) the steak was a perfect rare….. how 2 identical meals could be so different and 20minutes apart is beyond me. At the end it seemed only right to inform the management of the extremely disappointing experience when we have known and loved the restaurant for so many years. Such a shame to see one of the best restaurants in Truro fall so far below the belt.

Great spot & delicious food. Staff were very friendly and attentive, would highly recommend for anyone in the area. We are already taking more friends here next week and looking forward to trying something else on the menu!

Another excellent meal, as always. We’ve visited several times and the quality of the food was outstanding as usual. The servers were attentive, thoughtful (I can be a bit picky), and eager to assist us. Times are hard for the hospitality industry right now, and we should all support local family businesses or we'll lose them forever. We’ll definitely be returning!

Heard a staff member complaining rather appallingly about another member of staff. Completely unprofessional and really rather rude! Wont be visiting again. Has gone downhill since going on sale anyhow.

Very limited menu. Really disappointed as went for a friend's birthday meal. They had changed the menu a couple of weeks before and the choices were few. Food was OK but very pricey for what we had and we were the only people in the restaurant. No atmosphere. Such a shame as mannings had been favourite for several years. Sorry we won't be going back

The menu left me uninspired, all Asian influenced? Seafood was all overcooked, rubbery prawns. Just very basic food and overpriced for what it was. Lightning was too bright and the music was too loud. No one asked if we wanted more drinks etc. not sure if it’s changed hands but definitely not the mannings I remember.

I had the crab linguini, £23-50 worst linguini, I've ever had, my friends had steak, and chips, (it was a tiny bucket of chips, ), nothing else on the plate £30,we were overcharged for our drink, when questioned about it the waiter told us we had doubles!!!!!I never ask for doubles, as I was driving ,WILL NEVER go back,

Came here for breakfast, as we walked in we were seated straight away. Firstly they took our drinks order, after about 1 minute we were brought the bill and told to pay before we even received our drinks. Seemed a little odd and were both shocked by this. We ordered the full breakfast and the breakfast bagel both of which were lovely. About half way through our meal a staff member started hoovering and we actually found ourselves having to shout at eachother over the hoover. We were the only people in the restaurant at the time and found it quite rude that they couldn't wait until we had finished. Even on the way out we had to step over the hoover pipe and move around chairs that had been pulled out. Although a lovely breakfast we won't be returning or recommending this place.

Have eaten here several times now and the food and service have always been excellent.

We visited Mannings for dinner before a show at the Hall for Cornwall, having not been to this restaurant in years. I had seen some mixed reviews on TripAdvisor but decided to take a chance. We were very glad we did. The decor and ambience was lovely, service very warm and friendly, the menu was refreshingly different, the food was delicious (had Korean chicken bao bun and sticky beef noodles) and the price was pretty reasonable (given what eating out costs these days). We will definitely be back.

Gutted. I was sooo looking forward to eating here. After a long day travelling I turned up at 8pm only to be told they've stopped serving food. The restaurant was more than half empty but they still couldn't accommodate me as a single diner. Gutted as the menu looked lovely.

I had the Steak meal which was delicious but I only had a small portion of Chips with it. I did expect something else on my plate, like peas or tomato, or salad. Quite a flimsy meal, by the way. If you are hungry after that, there is a 'Spoons' over the way.

Mannings was always my favourite place to eat. Last year my meal was incredible, but my recent meal was uninspiring. The pork bites that were served as a small plate were tasty, but the main was not. The menu has changed, removing all my previous first, second or third choices. I chose the Cornish chicken but not being a fan of mash (pomme puree) or truffle , I opted for chips. The chicken suprene was tiny, but I couldn't manage it all as it was so dry, and lacking flavour/seasoning. The sauce/gravy? was luke warm, and not much different when it came back having requested it hotter. It contained some dried up old peas, but no flavour! Previous chicken supreme I had eaten off the old menu was succukent, delicious, and well seasoned. I know the hotel is for sale, so maybe they have stopped striving for the excellence of previous visits. Very disappoining

Choose to go back to this restaurant for my birthday meal,my favourite in Truro. Was welcomed and asked if I would like a glass of Prosecco, the food I chose was lovely, best tempura prawns I have had in a restaurant,crispy beef was so delicious. The service was efficient and unobtrusive,the atmosphere was great. Will definitely revisit when back in the area.

Waitress forgot to ask for drinks, then forgot to bring said drinks. Waitress didn’t take order for one member of the party to had to ask before she left. Steak poorly seasoned, no option given for how it was cooked (medium, rare or well done). Nor was options offered for extras. Steak will go home to the dog as i have paid for it

Always superb food and service highly recommend

Always come here for lunch when visiting Truro, as usually such a lovely atmosphere, very efficient staff and excellent food. Was a little disappointed this time however. I waited by the entrance to the restaurant, as instructed, however was ignored by the staff for over 5 mins before being welcomed. I do appreciate that the staff were busy, however, one of the staff was preparing drinks at the bar and didn't even acknowledge us by saying, someone will be with you in a moment. This is surely common practice and helps to appease you when having to wait. We were eventually seated and placed our drinks orders. During that time two other tables arrived and they were actually served before us for their drinks and food! The food was ok but not up to their usual high standard. Prices aren't cheap but you don't mind if the quality of the food is good and the service effficient. Almost felt as if they don't really care anymore! Will be trying somewhere else in the future.

What went wrong,?my partner had a lovely tempura chicken and noodles,hexwas pleased with his meal.i have had thai curry before and it was lovely,but last week my Thai curry was chicken floating in a watery sauce,nothing else with it ,veg wise,it was not worth the 20 pounds. Was offered to change and have something else but I declined,I so wish I sent it back as it was well below par.mot like u mannings

We have dined b4 at mannings & really enjoyed it but today was the exact opposite, we were first in the dining room we had a starter & a main one of our guests was a vegetarian and her food was full of oil not very nice at all. That was it we were never asked if we wanted deserts of coffees, struggled to get the bill even it’s a lot of money to have this kind of experience. So disappointed. Pat

Been using Mannings both hotel and restaurant over many years. The food is always delicious and the staff are very attentive and fast.

We ate from the market menu and I had a delicious roast beef followed by elderflower and blackcurrant sorbet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed it. Ate there again today and had the lamb special which was also delicious. I highly recommend eating here.

I came in without a reservation on a Saturday evening and got a table without any fuss. The food was fantastic, and came out surprisingly quickly. Most of all I have to recommend the service, the place had that “fancy restaurant” feeling in the quality of everything, but the staff were very friendly without the aloofness you would normally associate with a place of this quality. Highly recommended.

Beautiful food, nice presentation. Easy menu. early evening menu includes a free drink either wine, soft drink or beer for £21.95. Nice central location car parks close by

9 of us came here and had the most wonderful evening with great cocktails to start as well as gorgeous food throughout. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The kitchen also tweaked my dads starter for him and nothing was too much trouble for the whole team. Everyone at the table expressed how impressed they were with all the food which was well portioned and some still managed to share some desserts! As my dad is in a wheelchair, I had prior communication with Adam who made the pre booking and experience throughout wonderful. We had drinks in the bar beforehand and we weren’t rushed along to our table as our party were all arriving at different times. Everyone looked after us superbly and Adam is an absolute top class manager. Some of our party were already arranging to come back for lunch as although local, not everyone had been to Mannings. Great experience, disabled friendly and a great menu selection. Thank you and see you again soon!

Eat many times here and enjoyed. Unfortunately the menu has changed, little choice and not very good anymore. Three of us had steaks and we all were disappointed. Friends went the following week and also were disappointed. Shame as it was always our go to place for quality.

Terrible. Waitress clearly didn’t want to be there, rude and miserable. Food very larger portions of poor quality food . Sea food starter was not a described on menu, steak flavourless with a very cheep of the shelf sauce . Ice cream £3 per very small scoop . Wine poor . Restaurant not even a quarter full in the Friday night I can see why . Over priced, poor quality and terrible service. Don’t waste your money guys .

We lunched here before Christmas. Its a pleasant place to come, upbeat atmosphere, good service and snazzy decor. Food is averagely good, upmarket conveyor belt type food. I think its on the expensive side for what you get. My Mangalore curry at £18 was mainly sauce with two or three mouthfuls of a rather tasteless colley. I think the fish might have been added to a preprepared sauce so that it was not really marinated and the rice was rather dry. Perhaps popped in the microwave to heat it up? My partner's seasonal duck dish based was yummy but a verysmall/starter size at £14 . Drinks are far from cheap, £3.55 for half a pint of cheaper end lager, SanMiguel. There is a service charge of 7.5% which is supposedly optional. This is not really the case as it was automatically added, the bill was rung up on the till without a bill or receipt. I did not mind paying it as the service was good and the staff get it. However to say its optional and to then include it automatically is not really a choice. A friend of mine doing locum work at Treliske hospital as a consultant ate here recently and got a 10% reduction on their bill. I have given this some thought and have decided that as an old age pensioner Iwill not be eating here again as I have no wish to subsidize this largess. As I said the service is good, all the staff are friendly and courteous. Julia was very helpful on the phone when I rang beforehand regarding the new menu.

Had lunch today, and I'm afraid it wasn't as good as I remember from a year or so ago. The lunch menu was very limited, and to be honest, I struggled to find something I really wanted to eat. I chose the Huevos rancheros and autumn salad. The salad was replaced by a portion of chips. I couldn't be bothered to complain, I guess that's what you get when you try to memorise the order instead of writing it down. I won't be returning soon.

We went pre theatre and discovered you had changed the menu. Such a shame, we won't go again. Not much choice and tough minute steak with 5 cherry tomatoes £18.50 and you have to pay for all the extras. £9 for a sticky toffee pudding! People will continue to go and you will be busy but we won't go again. And get rid of that service charge! Shame .

Used to be much better, but the food is not up to the standard one would expect for the prices being charged and although the staff were reasonable, the service vice itself was very poor. Will not be returning unless I hear things have improved.

Went for my birthday. You know when you know a restaurant so well that you know what you are having before you get there. Well we did so was sorely disappointed to find that they have changed the menu. Not just tweaked it, they've got rid of all the old favourites. No bento boxes, no baguettes with chicken or beef, no omelettes, or fish goujons, in fact nothing from the old menu. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We did'nt stay and after telling the staff why, we walked out. OK so the new menu was'nt too bad, but we think more suited for dinner rather than lunch. We know the old menu has been around for a long time, however, it was what everyone wanted and liked. We think Mannings have made a big mistake here and the more people who hopefully feel the same will voice their disgust at such a popular menu being dumped.

Me and my husband absolutely love Mannings however on our last visit we are a little disappointed as the menu has changed, a much smaller menu! I always go for the tempura chucked as it’s a dish that is done nowhere else and absolutely packed full of beautiful flavours There was not one chicken dish on the menu, however Adam was more than accommodating and did recommend a dish for myself and he did say the new menu is open to tweaking, if that’s the case please put tempura chicken back on

Delightful girl took our order, and I explained that I wasnt very hungry, and asked if I could just have sides. Fully expected a firm 'no', but was so pleased to be told 'Of course you can'. Altogether a thoroughly pleasant place to have lunch, good food, caring staff. Five stars.

We dropped in, no booking, late, not really dressed for the event, mid week and they could not have been more helpful. The décor, the bar, the furnishings, the entire presentation was great. The food was even better and our waitress was amazingly helpful. A terrific experience and I look forward to revisiting.

My friend booked the meal as a pre show dinner and WOW, I'm so glad she did! From the moment we walked in I felt comfortable and welcomed. We had a lovely booth style table which was great. The waiting staff were fantastic (I wish I'd caught her name!) Really friendly and attentive so it was a big tick before the food even arrived! As we waited for our food we could see and smell other people's food arriving and it smelt soooo good! We didn't wait long for our food, table of 4 all ordering different meals, one being a selection of 3 starters. I had the monkfish curry which was very tasty and a very good sized portion. My friends also had plentiful portions and enjoyed it immensely. Thank you Mannings, I will be back as soon as I can with my partner!

I cannot find one fault with this restaurant. The staff are amazing and the food is superb. Nothing is rushed, unlike other restaurants these days. My boyfriend and I had a lovely evening here and will definitely be returning. I just hope they never change because they are doing everything right.

Yet another great visit to this wonderful restaurant. It never disappoints! The barman was charming, the waitresses delightful and the fish platter was delicious. The espresso martini panna cotta was just as good as the last time I ordered it. And then we went to the theatre just around the corner. Perfect.

dined out today for the hubby's birthday. Not been to Mannings for some time. Pleasantly surprised. First off the food was wonderful. I had a starter as a main course as I can't eat large meals. The food really was first class. However, what made the meal was the service. Her name was Emma. Don't know where she came from but well done Mannings for employing her. Make sure you keep her. This was only her third shift so you would expect someone to be nervous. Not Emma!! She held centre stage which was what Mannings have been lacking since Covid. What we did like was the way she went down on her haunches to speak to people and take their orders. This meant she was on eye level with the guests. She was everywhere. Nothing was too much trouble and she knew where everything was. Goodness knows how many steps she took in a day. We can confirm that Mannings is now back to pre-covid standards. Well done Emma and lucky Mannings.

We have been going to Mannings Restaurant for over 26 years, everything about Mannings is top quality, the food is supberb and the staff are excellent, you can't fault this restaurant at all. We have just had another excellent dinner and will be back very soon.

Popped in after work to try the Mannings Monday Moroccan menu. Three dishes were just right for the two of us as an early dinner. Beautiful presentation and attention to detail and delicious flavours. The sardines looked amazing and the zaalouk was first class. Friendly relaxed service too from our cheerful Cornish waitress.

Tasty food. Evening meal I had the Asian meat taster platter but it was much too large for me and I left a lot which I didn't like. The curry part of it was an adequate meal in itself.

I was highly recommended Mannings for our first wedding anniversary meal recently. Booked a table for 5th September. Arrived with a very nice welcoming and a glass of fizz for our anniversary. Staff there are amazing smartly dressed, very polite. They couldn’t do enough to make sure you was happy. Food was ordered and arrived quickly. My wife had the vegetable wok noodles and I have the red curry. Wow food was perfect very tasty. Best meal we’ve had out together. Finished off with the celebration desert for two. Again so good. Cocktails are very good. The restarting itself very clean and tidy. Nice background music. Very pleased we booked to come here and we will be retuning very soon with friends. I have been to Mannings pre Covid and I loved the place. My husband had never been and so whilst we were in Truro we decided to visit. A lot of hospitality venues have suffered since the pandemic with staffing issues. I needn't have worried....

We took our friends for a Bento box lunch on Thursday. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal as we usually do. We will come again very soon because all the menu is lovely. I would like to conclude by saying that the restaurant staff, especially Nancy (who we all felt went that extra mile to make everything fun and enjoyable) where very welcoming. It was the perfect end to our wedding celebrations and has created a wonderful memory for us to look back on. Thank you ever so much again from us both again we can't wait to pop in and see you all again in October when we visit again.

Had the most incredible food here today. I'm gluten and yeast free and had the vegan bento box. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about checking with allergens, and checked in with the chef before completing the order. Amazing large portions, highly recommend.
