Maray in Liverpool

Good food and service! Everything I've tried was really good! I've been to the one in Bold Steet twice this month. I just found out there is one closer to me which is in the Albert Dock so I will go there bext time as it seems they also have a more extensive menu on weekend. My favorite is the crispy sea bass!! Bhadji is also very good. Ox cheek is gokd but portuon is too small. Falafels are very good too. For one person, 2 plates seem enough. I have tried the baklava cheese cake but it doesn't stand out to me. I'd stick to the savoury ones. It was always easy to grab a table but probably the one in Albert Dock would need booking ahead.

We went to maray after watching a YouTube review and it did not disappoint. We was greeted by Melanie who was a superb host, helping us with our choices of small plates to share and choosing delicious cocktails. We needed help as it all looked so good . The goats cheese and flatbread was incredible, I would gladly eat it everyday , I could not describe how good. The rest of the dishes were equally good, especially the cauliflower bhaji. A lovely atmosphere,great bar area with cocktails as good as I have had anywhere. The quality of everything we received on the day was so good we will definitely go again the next time we are in Liverpool. Probably more than once as we need to try all the delicious vegetarian options on the menu , and a few more cocktails of course. If I could give more than 5 stars I would . A must go to place in a great city

Definitely my ‘go to’ restaurant in Liverpool. Never let’s you down. Food delicious. Great drinks. Friendly, attentive staff. Recommended

A great spot at the top of Bold Street, a cosy place with a relaxed feel, great service and even greater food. The whipped goats cheese with pickled apple and herb oil has a creamy texture and an earthy flavour. The braised carrots with black garlic tahini and sour grapes are delicious and tender, and the halloumi with puy lentil salsa is salty and rich. These small plates are small masterpieces of flavour, texture and presentation, you want to savour every mouthful of each one. The service is chilled but attentive and helpful, adding to the pleasure of the experience. And a great selection of drinks too. Marat is definitely 10 out of 10 on all counts.

Tasty food and good service, recommend the mezze sharer, lamb, cod, rice and lentils and cauliflower. I personally found the food slightly salty but my boyfriend said it was fine and it's because I don't season my food lol.. The bread and butter pudding was really nice, probs my fav item.

Everything from when we walked in and recieving a warm friendly greeting the staff were so inviting. The service I couldn't fault and the spicy margarita I had was best i have tasted. The food was incredible and every dish was delicious. Thank you for a great night, il definitely be back.

Had an amazing meal here. Vegetables take the centre stage and everything is bursting with flavour. Bright, sweet, tangy, rich, herby, and roasty, so much going on! Particularly recommend the aubegine za-alak (think it was called). Intensely rich and savoury. If you want to eat more healthy/sustainable, plant based food but don't want to compromise in taste, this is the place.

Fantastic experience here this week. Staff were brilliant, music was great, perfect vibe, and most importantly fantastic food and drink. Everything was absolutely spot on, and can't wait to come back again soon.

I am never, ever disappointed when I visit Maray! I visited Maray Bold Street, recently, for my birthday and felt very spoilt! I used the 'birthday gift card' link I had been sent, so my bill was reduced significantly, there was a birthday card on the table from Maray and I was brought a free dessert with a candle in it! I just wish I could remember the name of the member of staff who served us, she was attentive, professional and friendly. I would recommend any of the Maray restaurants to anyone!

What an amazing restaurant. The food was fresh and tasted amazing. The cocktails were excellent and the service staff provided was top notch. My only critique would be I wish the time at table was 2 hours not 1 hour 30 mins.

The disco cauliflower is a must!! If you have room left for dessert you have to try the bread and butter pudding!

Exquisite food. Wonderful staff who felt like they wanted us to enjoy our visit and went above and beyond. For example, a waitress offered to rinse the plate we bought for my toddler before we put it in the bag to go home. The staff were excellent about allergens. The chef interacted with my toddler who wanted to watch him cooking. So impressed with the food and enjoyed our meal. Wish we lived in Liverpool to keep going back!

Maray is a new find for me and so pleased I have come across this great restaurant. Enjoyed mezze at Bold St, Liverpool and Sunday roast in Manchester. Food is so tasty with lovely flavours. Great choice. Roast dinner was very good quality, and a generous portion Serving staff in both were really helpful and friendly. Would recommend and will return myself.

Ate here with friends. It was our first visit to this restaurant but certainly won't be our last. We were all very impressed with the food, drinks, service and the atmosphere of the place. The staff were lovely and attentive. Couldn't fault it at all. 10 out of 10. Thank you

While since I've been. Was not disappointed. Food still excellent. Especially the Disco Cauliflower.

Lovely dining experience. We had the falafel sharing platter and fries with hummus. The flavours were delicious. Our waitress was great at advising about the different plates and was attentive and pleasant. Will definitely be back.

A wonderful resturant and fully deserving of its good reviews. We found it via the Time Out guide to the best restaurants in Liverpool and it lived up to the billing. The Disco Cauliflower, Sea Bass and whipped Goast Cheese were fantastic and a must. The Fattoush and cheesecake were good, but not to the same level as the rest of the meal. The Spelling Bee was also a lovely gin based cocktail to start.

Stunning little restaurant, which lives up to its reputation. Between two, we had the Disco Cauliflower, Falafel Sharer, Halloumi and Fried Chicken. Plenty for us, but we finished everything. Staff really chilled and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

What a fabulous restaurant. We booked for 3:30 and had access to the brilliant lunch menu which offers one mezze and two plates for £19. Each dish was delicious and was beautifully presented. Three dishes each was more than enough to eat and we had a table full of stunning food. Service was friendly and attentive and you can see the chef plating up the dishes.

Disco Cauliflower, I'm saying nothing else.

Fabulous little restaurant. Really friendly staff and superb atmosphere. The food was exceptional and such a great variety of flavours, all well cooked and beautifully presented. The waitress was really helpful in ensuring we ordered the right amount and helped also to describe some of the dishes to help us order what we would enjoy. Overall it was a fantastic evening.

First time diners on Wednesday evening and I can't recommend Maray enough. My boyfriend is notoriously hard to please but he loved all the plates we ordered - impressing him is not easy! Thank you Team Bold St for a really lovely experience. We will be back for those divine carrots x

Esta vez fuimos al atrevido restaurante Street. Como su restaurante Systar en los muelles, no es muy grande. Absolutamente la regla de hoy se aplica; tienes que reservar con antelación para este lugar y voy a decir cabeza de reserva también vale la pena. Esta fue la mejor comida que tuvimos durante un fin de semana largo en Liverpool. Todo fue realmente excelente. Nos apretaron en el bar y eso resultó ser muy bien y una manera fácil de compartir los platos de tapas que tenían. Todo, desde la comida hasta el servicio e incluso la relación calidad-precio era simplemente genial. Esta será sin duda una de las mejores opciones cuando seamos los próximos en la ciudad.

Best falafel I’ve ever had!! My third or fourth time eating at Maray and every time it’s exceptional - love it SO much. The disco cauliflower is incredible too, and the bread and butter date syrup pudding absolutely sensational.

This was one of the nicest meals we’ve had for so long! The atmosphere in Maray is just lovely - contemporary and comfortable. The menu has a great selection of contemporary North African/Middle Eastern dishes, and great accommodation of different dietary requirements. It would be impossible to pick a favourite dish, everything went together so well, however the disco cauliflower was a huge treat. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and anticipated our needs perfectly. We spent a lovely evening there!

It’s a bold, delicious explosion of textures and flavours that’s not to be missed. For dessert, we couldn’t resist their bread and butter pudding. Food tastes great, but it’s very overpriced. My wife and I spent £45 and left hungry. The baba ganoush and fattoush are criminally expensive considering the laughably tiny portions you get. The service and the taste of the food were great.

The food was good, but menu needs to be updated to achieve excellence again. Wine list after becoming really adventurous has returned to dull and generic.

Went on spec, on the basis of earlier reviews and it was such excellent vegetarian food that we went again with our daughter the next night. She has gluten intolerance and was brought a special menu from which to choose. Excellent, wish we lived nearer!

Maybe it was an off night - we were later told that the kitchen was really busy - but this was an overwhelmingly disappointing experience after Bold Street Maray being a 'go to' spot for us for many years. Three of the five courses we ordered were reasonably good (pitta & hummus, cauliflower bhajis, and fries) but nothing exceptional. But the roasted broccoli and disco cauliflower were a huge disappointment. These were not the stand-out vegan dishes we remember. Both were soggy and overcooked to the point of being flavourless, with the cauliflower being overwhelmed by what can only be described as a "generic barbecue sauce", and the broccoli being sat in a gloopy tomato sauce - that tasted of tomato puree. We even looked at photos online of what the dishes are supposed to look like. So overall, it wasn't a great experience, especially as it was a meal we booked for our wedding anniversary. Granted, money was taken off the bill but I doubt we will return to Bold Street Maray.

Food and drinks were lovely but service very lacking. Finished our main meals and enjoyed another drink. At this point we had decided that a dessert and another drink would be nice but after waiting 35 minutes for a member of staff to be on the floor and come anywhere near our table, we decided to just get the bill and leave. Will not be back due to service, might try the Albert dock one if we wanted to try the food again.

Sadly, our first and last visit to Maray. Table booked for 6.15. We arrived on time and ordered 2 glasses of wine, a sharing platter and a portion of potatoes. Wine arrived, but we were still waiting for our food at 7.00pm. Other tables were being served before us, which added to our disappointment. After several prompts to the waiting staff we decided to leave without eating as we had a cinema reservation for 7.30. Our server was very apologetic and informed us we would not be charged for the wine or water. Not a good experience. Fell short of our expectations.

The food and the staff are outstanding, and if you have a food allergy, they’re very thorough about it.

I only popped in because I was in town and I'd read that Maray had reintroduced the falafel wrap. They have and it didn't disappoint. Amazing!

Outstanding Small Plate experience facing Albert Docks. Service was exceptional with staff taking time to explain dishes. Food as well presented as it was tasty. A taste of the Middle East and only 3 restaurants exist in the UK asking it unique.

We love maray, the food and service are always top notch! They still make an effort to adjust menus to keep flavours fresh and experiences new, whilst keeping the old faithfuls of disco cauliflower and sweet potato wedges in their perfect form! Always recommend to anyone looking for a tasty meal in the city! My absolute favourite!

Maray on Bold Street is our favourite place to eat when we visit Liverpool. The quality of the food is absolutely outstanding!! Lovely service and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Liverpool.

From the minute we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff. As a vegan it’s rare to go out with friends and have so much choice. Also having a choice of food that I would not normally cook for myself. The photo does not do this food justice as you can’t capture taste in a photo. Everything we had was excellent. My non vegan friends loved the food too.

Always come to Maray Bold St. when I am in Liverpool. Food is great, something for everyone. Cocktails a bit sweet for me but that is a personal thing. Bread and butter pudding didn't need the caramel - see previous remark - but it was delicious. The sea bass and chocolate ganache dessert were excellent and the disco cauliflower is a must every time we go.

Had a lovely lunch at Maray Bold Street on a very dreary ‘Summer’ day. The food flavours were amazing and the portions very generous. The Georgian wine was delicious. Brilliant service was provided by our lovely waitress (sorry I don’t know her name). All in all, a very pleasant experience which I would recommend to others, especially when the weather is rubbish!!!

If you walk down Bold Street and pass Maray, you’ve made an error in judgment - Turn back you’re officially lost! The Disco Cauliflower is sure to bring even the most vegan oppressed meat eater into submission! A must try. The team are super friendly, knowledgable and consistent in their delivery. The kitchen is a well oiled machine and if I lived in Liverpool I’d eat here every night. Flavour explosion, great price, even better food. 10/10

Food is superb. Need to order at least 2 dishes per person as portion size is like an appetiser. Service is friendly. Be prepared to leave as soon as you have finished eating. The restaurant is fully booked back to back.

Really good food and really good service. Definitely recommend to have a nice date. A lot of vegan and vegetarian options and wines, different varieties and princes as well. Will definitely repeat.

Fantastic food. Always a good time here. The disco cauliflower and falafel plate are stand outs. 4 stars only because it’s a wee bit pricey. But is a great place to go with friends or a date and share!
