Maxim in Barnet

I had onion soup which was good- waitress asked if wanted cheese and crouton which was appreciated. Would recommend visit- it is a No Bull Cafe [ie meatless]- will it get on the protean nmeat bandwagon like one of its neighbours. Was thursday night and not many tabels full

First post-Covid visit, and it was wonderful...the staff are as friendly as before, and it was nice to see familiar faces amongst them! We were a party of four and we all enjoyed our food, which was fresh and HOT and delicious. There is plenty of choice, the staff are very helpful, and we left full and happy and glad that the world is opening up again :)

We visited on Boxing Day and the place was quite busy with tables of 4 guests or more. I had the avocado club sandwich which being made of 3 slices of toasted bread crammed with filling was too tall to easily fit in the mouth. The middle slice of bread being sticky with dressing etc one could not pull it apart and keep fingers clean. My wife and daughter enjoyed mushroom risotto and spaghetti respectively. Apple strudel with ice cream dessert was nice. Service was o.k..

Entré a almorzar y pedí un entrante y un plato principal. Esperé por mi primer plato que nunca llegó. . . eventualmente cuando llegó mi comida fue el plato principal. Recuperaron mis platos principales y finalmente me trajeron el plato de rollitos de primavera, que fue absolutamente delicioso. Mi plato principal de ravioles de hongos era un poco demasiado rico y demasiado pesado en la salsa de tomate que no podía saborear. El personal fumaba afuera, así que había una nube de humo de cigarrillo, lo cual es una pena. Aparte de eso, el personal era amable.

El restaurante es limpio, luminoso, cómodo y acogedor. La joven camarera que nos servía era encantadora, servicial y eficiente, y la comida estaba deliciosa. El menú del almuerzo es una excelente relación calidad-precio y lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Lo mejor de todo es que el lavabo es limpio y espacioso. ! ! ! ! He agregado a Maxim a mi lista de restaurantes favoritos y estoy deseando que llegue mi próxima visita.

Was walking past this restaurant and decided to have an early lunch. Was met by a very pleasant young lady who showed us to a table of our choice. We ordered some dishes at which time she pointed out the Special Lunch menu. I was very pleasantly surprised with the dishes on this menu. A starter and main for £12.95!! The food was well presented and tasted great. This is very good value for a quality meal in the area. Service was efficient, pleasant and unobtrusive.Will certainly visit again soon.

Re-visited exactly a year on. The staff coped well with an early evening crowd (we sat down at 6 pm on boxing day) I was very full after a hummus starter and an avocado and egg club sandwich but could not resist trying the blintzes (kind of pancake stuffed with sweet cheese)

We found our experience there quite enjoyable. Had a family outing, each choosing something different. Portions were substantial and well cooked and presented well. We have been there with other family members and usually found it quite acceptable. Did not wait too long to be served and when it arrived, the food was delicious. Even though the assortments of soups, salads and fish were really good and not excessive price-wise, we just could not resist the desert. On our most recent visit we shared meringue glace, a delicious HUGE dish of assorted ice creams topped with fresh cream and maple syrup with chunks of meringue at the bottom!

The service was dreadful waited 1 1/2 hrs for our order to be taken. food undercooked and tasteless.fish was not fresh tasted frozen ran out of many items including Pizza waitress didn't bring spoons ketchup had to ask many times Too Expensive and not enjoyable experience won't go back

Another example of a kosher restaurant where the staff smoke cigarettes in the back outside, I imagine, and the strong odour of cigarette smoke wafts in the restaurant.

I went last month with my friend and I had grilled salmon and baked potato which came with a small amount of salad, the dressing which was like a mayonnaise type was inappropriate for a salad, there was no olive oil on the table and the whole salad was just dried and unappetising, the potato also tasted unappetising and tasted like a cheap potato which was more suited to boiling and not to baking I had a hot chocolate which was gross it tasted like cocoa powder. The service was abysmal and we had to frequently call over for service my friend was appalled at the level of disinterest shown by the two servers and I for one will never return. I am totally fed up of kosher restaurants who persistently charge an arm and a leg for mediocre food then have the chutzpah to add on a service charge when it is not warranted, it is just another rip off as they are making a huge profit already with their overpriced food. usuall the servive us abysmal

... have come across:) I think Maxim's is underrated. The food is good, the service is friendly, and it has a nice relaxed atmosphere, unlike some of the noisier and more bustling places in the area. Highly recommended for small friend or family groups - you can actually hear what people are saying!!!

We dined here on Boxing Day. The place was quite busy with families. The service was reasonably attentive and the choice on the menu (dairy and fish) is wide ranging. Hummus starter is excellent. Salads and pasta were enjoyed by my family and I tried the sabich (aubergine and egg sandwich in a pitta).

Went to Maxim for a light lunch on Boxing Day and came away very disappointed. Terrible service and mediocre, overpriced food.

we had a meal here last week service was good and the prices really competitive owner was present so things run very smoothly

Food is very good, and staff very friendly. We took a classic fish and chips meal,and daily soup, very recommend restaurant.

We went in for a quick lunch and were pleased to be able to get a good meal quickly and in quiet surroundings. Very happy with the quality of the food and the service.

This is a kosher dairy and fish restaurant with a very wide-ranging menu. The portions are generous and the service attentive. My smoked salmon salad had several very long strips of succulent smoked salmon formed into rose shapes.

Llevé a mi hijo a Maxim para una cena tardía sábado por la noche. Teníamos pescado-n-patatas fritas y pizza que eran razonables. El servicio era rápido. Pero un incidente en el final de la comida me intranquilizó. La factura fue de aproximadamente 23 libras y...

Muy buen servicio. Un entorno agradable. Era muy simpático con los niños, compartimos una pizza y patatas fritas con mi hijo de 7 años, mi sobrina de 2 platos. Buena selección de vía láctea Comida kosher.

Food is always plentiful, well presented and tasty. No pretentiousness here, good middle range of English and Mediterranean dishes. Service ok could do perhaps with some waiting training and the decor is a little bland but all in all, there's privacy, a good choice to please most palates and reasonably priced. Would go back anytime.

We ate here on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was not crowded at 8 p.m. The owner greeted us and was friendly. The service was very good. The food was average although the portions were very generous. The bill (without tip) came to 51 pounds for 4 people - two starters which we shared and 4 main courses which is very reasonable.

The owner is engaging, the menu is large, the food is excellent, and the service is quick. Although there were other choices, we ate there twice.

Thursday night supper. Restaurant quite empty. There were two ladies serving. The younger, tall one was very friendly and helpful. The older one, who has served me there before, comes from the, 'I never smile' school of waitresses.My two friends arrived about 30 minutes before me and ordered. One had soup of the day, while the other chose onion soup. They were about halfway through it when I arrived and said they were impressed at how quickly it has been served and also that it was tasty.I asked for a Rigatoni and waited - a long time. The two waitresses were cheerfully chatting to each other behind the counter. I said to my friends, "I bet my food is all ready and is sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served to me."Eventually, Mrs not smiling came over and, seeing my friends had finished their soups, asked, "would any of you like to order a main course?" We said that I had already ordered one a while ago. Instead of apologising for the delay or offering to go and check, she said, "the time depends what you ordered"! Silly moo - why don't you patronise your customers?She went to the kitchen and, surprise surprise, I won my bet. The rigatoni was hot, well cooked and tasty.As I was finishing, the lady who had eaten the onion soup said she felt ill. She got progressively worse and, about 10 minutes after we left , she rushed back into the restaurant, into the ladies' toilet and was violently sick. She is an experienced nurse and says she has no doubt at all that her sickness was caused by the soup. It took her most of the next day to recover.Why didn't we say something to the staff? Because you could guarantee they would say, "nothing to do with us."Not a pleasant experience.

This is what the Brits call a "milky," and we Americans call a "dairy" restaurant. The heksher (kosher certification) is Kedassia.I was very pleased with my two dinners at Maxim. I tried the fish and chips and salmon entrees; the mushroom and sweet potato soups; and the house salad. Didn't order pud, but the ice cream creations I saw were HUGE!RECOMMENDED.

Large fish and dairy menu, pleasant service, very tasty food. Wine and beer available, also nice desserts and ice creams. The restaurant tends to be quite because it doesn't attract large groups celebrating special events

Shared a table with a new Supper Club. Lovely glatt kosher restaurant. Knowing that kosher restaurants serve up huge portions, I only had some complimentary roll and butter to start. I had a vegetarian noodle dish with salmon pieces, and it was GORGEOUS. My meal stayed hot all the way through until I had finished. Guessing correctly, I did not have room for any afters. Made some lovely new friends too.
