We were a group of 4 adults and 2 young kids that visited Medlar for lunch on a Sunday. The décor did feel a bit formal but the friendly staff helped to create a relaxed atmosphere. They offer a price fixe menu of between 1 and 3 courses (with an optional extra cheese course), which felt refreshingly old school in this era of sharing plates that we all live in. Between the 4 adults, we tried out the crab raviolo and slow cooked rabbit starters, followed by the roast quail, calf’s liver and roast guinea fowl mains. For dessert we shared the tart tatin, crème brulee and warm chocolate mousse. The food was beautifully presented and quite flavourful as well. From the starters we tried the crab raviolo was the clear winner, all the mains seemed similarly good, while the tart tatin was an excellent finisher to the meal. I must give special mention to the kid friendliness of the place, as this is not what I expected after reviewing the published menu online which wouldn’t appeal to younger kids. They were very accommodating to our children and offered to tailor make a dish using any mix of items on the menu at a reasonable price of £20. On that note the service was a real highlight of our meal, all the staff we interacted with seemed so genuine and friendly. The bill for the 6 of us came to £414 of which £92 was spent on drinks. The set price per adult of £58 for 3 courses is a relative bargain in this part of town (note that the price does vary based on time of the week, even though very similar menus are on offer), even more so once you consider their very generous servings of complementary bread as well as the chocolate truffles after our meal. On the whole an excellent meal in a place with old worldly charm and with so many tempting items on the menu yet to be tried, I will certainly be back in future…

We went to Medlar after having tried Cornus a couple of times and were curious to explore the connection. There were some similarities for sure (the reindeer table ornament and the gougeres to start!) but it remains its own distinct, delightful experience. The gougeres to start were large, hollow- satisfying but not heavy! We felt the set menu format was great value - I ended up trying a lovely soup with sweetbreads for starter. It was a warm, delicious and slightly sweet soup that paired well with the fried savoriness of the sweetbread. My mains was a delicious roast Guinea fowl on a bed of spatzle - generous! I rounded off the meal by sharing an excellent tarte tatin with a crème fraiche ice cream which was a show-stopper dessert to cap off a leisurely afternoon!

Simply stunning dining experience! Our second visit and now firmly our treat restaurant when in London. Everything from the friendly, on-point service to the beautiful food and ambience. Unusual for a place to get everything right. Beautiful bread, wonderfully fresh and tasty. Crab ravioli is a fabulous starter. Rump beef and halibut were both amazing dishes. And ordered the triple cooked chips, simply the best chips I've ever tasted. We shared a cheese board, it was huge and some of the cheeses were sublime. Washed down with a few sherries and a bottle of wine, we can't recommend it highly enough. Wonderful dining experience and they overheard me saying to my husband that he could choose the wine as it was his birthday. With the cheese came a creme brule, candle and the team singing happy birthday to my husband. Exceptionally observant service and executed with style and friendliness. We can't wait until we can visit again.

We went for a small celebration. We took a couple of contrasting bottles of our own wine . The service was splendid. Without fuss the right bottle was decanted and we were offered the right glasses which makes such a difference imo. Sometimes “corkage” charges can seem like a consolation prize for the restaurant. But here they take wine service as seriously as the food. The mallard was exemplary. Well plated with a good selection of seasonal vegetables for balance. Unmissable fries with spot-on Bernaise to drag them through. Excellent cheese board. And a tarte tatin made with excellent flaky pastry and thickly cut well caramelised apples. Truly a great meal.

Another superb meal at Medlar, every course shone, all beautifully presented and very tasty. Great wine and impeccable service. Thank you for a great evening.

Interesting seasonal menu with plenty of choice. Charming staff

It had been a while since I’d visited Medlar but it was every bit as good as previously remembered. A wonderful seasonally influenced menu with everything cooked to perfection and an outstanding wine list. The staff and friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. Knowledgeable about their menu and wine list and work hard to ensure everyone has a memorable meal.

The best of both a local and a destination restaurant. Seasonal and well considered menu. Excellent wine list and well thought through with som hidden gems. Lovely welcoming enthusiastic people. Don’t know why I only don’t go more often! Mark S

Possibly my favourite restaurant in London. Always welcoming, knowledgable and friendly staff. The food has always been stand out. Fantastic quality, great options and not over priced. Everyone I brought here loves it. Stand outs are the Crab raviolo with with samphire, brown shrimps, fondue of leeks and bisque sauce. Just typing this out has my mouth watering! Thinly sliced roast pork loin with celeriac remoulade, salsa verde, crackling and tardivo. Warm chocolate mousse and salted caramel tartlet with milk ice cream and candied pecans.

Sapevo di aver scelto un buon ristorante ma non pensavo che fosse di un livello così alto. Complimenti davvero allo chef ed alla sua squadra. Abbiamo mangiato magnificamente! Tonno crudo in un gaspacho favoloso, un filetto di manzo da 10 e lode con un sughetto favoloso e cotto alla perfezione. Mio figlio è vegetariano ed è rimasto molto soddisfatto anche lui. Infine una Tarte tatin che dire perfetta è sminuirla. Sono un malato di Tarte tatin e credo di essere molto esigente. Questa sera credo di aver provato una delle migliori Tarte di sempre. Non ho approfondito l’offerta dei vini, ma se fosse per il cibo, credo che meriterebbero la stella. Complimenti!

We were celebrating an 85th birthday, in a low key kind of way. We enjoyed our experience at the restaurant because we could hear each other speak. The food was excellent. It took a while to find the right red wine but we got there eventually. The restaurant is expensive which is the only criticism I have.

Went here with my family and well all agreed this was a perfect meal. The service was very friendly and attentive and the food and drinks were all spot on. The highlight for me was the duck egg tart for starter. Also my mum complimented the truffles and they gave her an extra bag of them to take home, not at all expected but this was a very nice touch.

Delicious restaurant! We had a lovely dinner at Medlar, staff was very professional and the food was great! We also had some good red wine!

Excellent food, very well presented and in generous portions. The menu offers a very good selection and everyone in our table of 6 found their choices very good. The wine list is very extensive, and good choices can also be found. Service is first class, and the prices are within the range expected for a restaurant of that level in that location. Noise level was a bit high, but not uncomfortable.

Another delicious lunch at Medlar. Food and service are very good and the BYOB at lunchtime is a bonus. The price, while not cheap, is lower and better value than at many similar restaurants, tho I imagine that many typical diners are reconsidering how often they eat out now and whether it is value for money.

10/10 I've been to hundreds of restaurants in London. The service here beats them all. They do everything perfectly, from the way they great you, to the way they check up on you without smothering you, they have mastered the art of incredible service. The food was incredible, great range but not too big of a menu where you feel overwhelmed. The Tarte Tatin was to die for. Give these guys back their Michelin start, they deserve it!!!

El gerente, Jeremy, era increíblemente amable y servicial, y todo el personal era amable y atento. Muy recomendable! Sin duda volveremos en nuestro próximo viaje a Londres!

Becoming a favourite. Food excellent and beautifully presented. The staff are attentive but not intrusive.

Not sure why they call it a French restaurant. The cuisine is more standard European/British fare and is nothing special. It was recommended to us but we found it unremarkable. Ambience is crowded and few good tables. Service perfunctory but fine. We had tuna tartare, grouse and gunea fowl. Tuna was fresh but doused in vinaigrette and ubiquitous avocado. Grouse was good but oddly presented with weird accompaniments. Guinea Fowl was nothing special. We won’t return as there are many superior alternatives nearby in this price e.g. Josephines or Elystan St.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch, and fabulous value, crab starter was standout, mains were great, a fab cheese board, the service was some of the best I have experienced by the whole team but particularly Jeremy! We would definitely return.

What a wonderful surprise in London! Located in Chelsea, on Kings Road near shopping and other activities. A hideaway, with amazing food and amazing wine. The service was spectacular. The pairing was extraordinary and the food was overall delicious. I would absolutely return in a heartbeat. It’s a must try in London! Highly recommend.

One of the best most reliable restaurants with good service and pleasant staff

El servicio es muy bueno. La habitación es muy cómoda. Hay pocas tablas buenas para dos y la acústica no es óptima. La comida era meh. Todo parecía como si el chef estuviera fuera de su profundidad. El urogallo era bueno, pero todo lo demás era deficiente. El plato de atún crudo no era agradable. Estaba rociado en vinagre. Mi marido tenía pintadas. El pájaro era bueno pero la presentación era sosa y poco inspirada. Empapado spätzle no son buenos. Sin sabor. No volveré. Si estás en ese barrio, prueba con Elystan Street.

Estuve en Medlar un par de veces, y siempre es excelente. La comida es genial (el menú rota y muy estacional) , y la tabla de queso es ejemplar! ! ! ! También trajo a mi amiga aquí por su cumpleaños, y el servicio fue impecable. El equipo hizo un esfuerzo adicional para que fuera una gran experiencia y comida para ella y ella estaba encantada. Muy buen restaurante para volver con frecuencia: se siente especial, pero todavía tiene la sensación de restaurante del barrio local al mismo tiempo. Gran comida, gran relación calidad-precio, gran equipo de servicio, gran ambiente - impecable.

We had an amazing meal on Sunday lunchtime. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were helpful and friendly . They were also very attentive, but in a subtle way so it didn’t feel intrusive. We liked the fact that you can take your own wine and pay corkage. I would thoroughly recommend Medlar and we would definitely like to return.

Medlar continues to be an excellent place. I had the very last grouse this lunchtime and had a great lunch.

Unfortunately, it's not a tasty French cuisine, the staff is very friendly but that's the most positive part, the place and the atmosphere is mediocre, definitely overpriced for everything you get. I'm sorry but they just don't know how to prepare delicious food.

I had crab ravioli to start and halibut for a main course both were absolutely delicious. The portions were also generous- something I find lets down many restaurants of a similar calibre. The restaurant had a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The service was fantastic- I had booked for my sister’s birthday and even though we were too full to have a dessert, the waiters brought one out with a lit candle for her! I would definitely recommend and return.

I took my parents to Medlar a couple of weeks ago for a 60th birthday dinner, having heard very good things about the restaurant. The evening was exceptional from start to finish. The food, wine, service, atmosphere, all of it faultless. Sergy was brilliant, and particularly helpful on the wines, and the whole front of house team very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The Raviolo and the Tarte Tatin were favourites, but every dish hit the mark. I would absolutely recommend Medlar for a special occasion/celebration, as well as a regular spot for a great night. Thanks guys.

La comida y el vino eran excelentes, las alergias alimentarias y las preferencias se acomodaron - incluso nuestro nieto de cuatro años fue atendido. El servicio fue excepcional con una mención especial a Jeremy para quien nada era demasiado problema. Muy recomendable.

If you have one meal in London, make it to the Medlar! We had dinner on a Saturday night, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the outside, the Medlar is an understated restaurant on King's road. Quietly hidden away in plain sight, this may just be one of the best restaurants London has to offer, all things considered. It is fine dining, but without the unnecessary frills . The flavours were outstanding, and while you wanted more, you couldn't as the portions are generous for a restaurant of it's type. While the food was outstanding, the service was even better. We went on a busy Saturday night, but we always felt that the staff were readily available whenever they were needed. Special mention to Sylvain - who was the real star of the show. He did look like the busiest man in the world, but also had plenty of time to chat and help out in everyway he could. We walked away feeling like we'd known him for ages. To the Medlar, it's food and the outstanding staff - 5 stars+++

Very good French influenced restaurant. Good menu. The grouse was undercooked on this occasion. The Celeriac soup was very good. My wife would have preferred the piece of raw tuna, rather than a chopped tuna salad.

The team at Medlar were incredible last night, they helped make my friends birthday celebration so special. Any issues were dealt with right away and they were so incredibly helpful and friendly. The food is outstanding, word to the wise -visit Medlar on an empty stomach because the portions are big!! Wine list is incredible and the Sommelier was great and understood what we wanted perfectly. I can’t wait to visit again.

What to say about Medlar? It's really hard for me to put into words the perfection and taste of their creations. I went to the restaurant once when I was alone in London because I found it in a Michelin restaurant guide. For me it was such a taste highlight in my previous restaurant trips that I was totally amazed for months afterwards. I had to show it to my partner next time to celebrate my 59th birthday there. As a tip, be sure to book the wine clothing. It was a real experience for me again and I'm looking forward to the next time🥰

My favourite local restaurant. We've been coming to the Medlar for 9 years. Never ever been disappointed with the food, staff or the ambience. It's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion with family & friends, or to have some 121 time with someone special. A must for anyone that enjoys good food and wine..

A gem of a restaurant with memorable food, beautifully presented and service rarely found these days. We had gone as a first visit for a family celebration and we will all look forward to returning. Really liked that they have a set priced menu, and we took our own wines and champagnes and although the corkage charge is quite steep if you wanted a family favourite bottle or two, it was nice to have the opportunity to do this. Highly recommend.

I have dining at the place many times. but never got around writing a review . Some fine dining chefs focus more on the art work of the presentation then the taste itself . We met at Medlar for a very special, celebratory family Sunday lunch, and could not have made a better choice. The private dining room was cool, light and airy, the food sublime, and our waiter, Santiago, provided a superb service throughout what turned out to be a long lunch. I had dined here previously, but for everybody else, it was a new experience, and the unanimous verdict was that we should return.
