Mercure Sheffield Parkway Hotel in Rotherham

Of the 4 meals ordered only 1 was satisfactory. On her hake dish my friend had blackened, bad potatoes, some not cooked properly and certainly not "crushed". My husband had soggy batter on his fish and the peas were cold within a couple of minutes. I had soggy croutons, toasted on only one side on my "classic" Caesar salad. The fourth dish was a pizza, which was described as "OK". We did complain and the waitress was very apologetic, as was the other member of staff who came to our table. What was surprising was that we were the only 4 people in the restaurant - and on a Saturday evening! Based on this experience we are very unlikely to return.

We stayed one night on our way to Northumberland and it was a perfect stay. We had our little dog with us and we were all comfortable in our room which was very clean. We ate dinner here and our dog was allowed in the bar area. Dinner was very tasty. Breakfast is also good. If you stay here make an effort to go to Orgreave where there's a landmark dedicated to the miners of the area. Parking is free at the hotel but remember to put your registration number in. I would definitely recommend as its close to the motorway so very convenient.

Well maintained and quiet Hotel. Connected with motorway and easy to get in. Bar has quite good options for beers. The gentleman in Bar Rohan was absolutely Outstanding!! Iron Man of the Hotel., inspite being working out his regular work, he is vigilant and good observant towards his customers. I had an irritated mouth n was strugglin and he came straight with a glass of water. Amazing gesture. Great hospitality! Bless him With Regards, Neil Frater

What a lovey place. Staff food all fantastic. Chef Rahan and Jo amazing keep up the good work. Nothing to much trouble definetly give 5 stars

Arrived Friday at 3pm. The room was baking hot. Talk to the receptionist about the air conditioning and was told that it was all the same in the hotel. Foolishly I believe him. Hot room all night Friday, Saturday day and then in the evening on Saturday I was told by friends in the same hotel that the aircon was freezing in their room. I went and spoke to the reception staff and they told me they spoke to the maintenance manager and he had said we shouldn’t have the windows open!! I feel that the staff were insulting my intelligence as it wasn’t anything to do with the windows being open - the air conditioning as I’m writing isn’t working!! Plus why speak with the maintenance manager if all the air conditioning is the same!! 🙄. The only solution was to give us a fan - to blow around the hot air!! Breakfast was also cold, poorly cooked and of a very low standard. I would recommend that you avoid this hotel. The final insult was that the maintenance manager was not contactable until Monday and my stay was Friday to Sunday. Couldn’t offer another room or anything that remotely resolved the problem. I really feel that the receptionist lied to me regarding the air conditioning because he said they were all the same! Very, very dissatisfied. I for one will never stay at this hotel in the future and will recommend to all my friends that they avoid this hotel. PS - the weekend we stayed we had temperatures of 25-27 degrees! Just baked. Truly horrible and no help from the hotel or the staff!
