Miller & Carter in Colchester

Unfortunately, we had to wait for our food for nearly an hour I ordered a starter and took more than half an hour to serve the atmosphere is amazing but unfortunately the waitress who served us wasn't very friendly I'm a bit disappointed with the waiting time for food and waitress

As usual the food at Colchester Miller & Carter was incredible, but our evening was completely made by having the wonderful Lisa looking after us. She was absolutely hilarious, attentive and made the whole experience even more fantastic - she is an absolute asset to your company. When we next visit we hope Lisa is our waitress again! X

Ive always go to Miller and Carter Ipswich but the Miller and carter here in Colchester’s quite shocking. No one even bother to check after serving if everything’s okay or if you need any sauce. The order took forever to arrive. I ordered a strawberry sling just when i started my steak. When it arrived i said to the lady i’m not having it because i finished my food so i just politely asked for the bill. No sorry at all, no courtesy. Poor customer service. Its a shame because the food’s lovely. I hope the manager get to see this. I went there tonight January 28, at 7:30pm and the bloke that took our order looked like he doesnt like working there. Didnt smile at all. And just give out meal like a robot being asked to serve. Really shocking, i expect more from Miller and Carter and this branch doesnt live up to the standard of other branches they have.

Didn't start off well, got to restaurant 15 minutes before booked time and got told to wait and that lasted 10 minutes. However the service was very good and got made to feel welcome. The starter was lovely mushrooms and cheese. However, the steak that I asked for come out a lot more pink than I wanted and the fries were covered in salt that they tasted not very good. Am going in harsh as I expect a good quality meal for the price! Feel like the place was very overrated!

Another other fantastic visit to Miller & Carter! The Butcher’s Block was gorgeous and our waitress, Emily, was superb as always!

Lobster was over cooked, chicken was over cooked, wrong sauce was served with one of the steak dishes. At over £200 for 4 people, I expected more.

Lynda was fantastic. She was really friendly and made sure to check in with us for extra drinks. The food was nice and the starters in particular smelt amazing.

I had the scallops to start which were very overcooked however my ribeye steak was delicious. Lynda was lovely and very attentive. She made our experience great.

Best steak I’ve eaten in years. Place was full yet they got our orders 100% right, timely and beautifully presented. Sadly too far from home for a regular visit but would certainly recommend.

Great atmosphere, fun staff and very friendly. Food was delicious and plenty of options. Emily was our waitress and she was a delight! We had a great experience.

The staff were all excellent. However, the steaks were not good quality or good value at all. We had the 50 day aged ribeye. Other restaurants serve 30 day old ribeye with a lot more flavour. We've never had such thin and dry ribeye steaks; they're usually thick cut to retain the flavour. It felt like harvester quality, but at London prices. For quality of steaks we would recommend Bella Pais in Colchester over M&C any day. Also, it's unusual for a restaurant with such an emphasis on steaks to not offer chargrill. For epic steaks head to Bella Pais!

Love it here very expensive but a well deserved treat is needed occasionally

Service was great as always, however was very disappointed with my starter. I always have the scallops and was really looking forward to them (although the old ones with pea puree were much nicer), however they were really overcooked which was so disappointing. It's never happened before.

Great ambience, food good, drinks expensive (£4+ for non alcoholic lager takes the mick!). Too many times asked if ok while eating. Slow with dessert

We had the sharing experience and a kids menu. What a treat with excellent food. Our service from Lynda was superior. Such a lovely lady. Great atmosphere. We'll be back as always.

Our waitress, Ayu, was brilliant. So attentive and so friendly. Food was great. We both had a burger and really enjoyed it. My husband also had the prawns to start and said they were so good. I’m doing Dry January so had the Elderflower Sherbert cocktail and it was as good as having a drink!

Everything was great until at 21.45 when we was one of the only couples left, I asked what time they closed and the waitress refused to answer. they then started emptying bins beside us and then left 4 bin bags beside our table whilst we was still eating dinner. When i mentioned it to the waitress, her response was “next time ask for a table away from the kitchen” when I said are you kidding me, she responded “well it wasn’t me emptying the bins was it”. Terrible attitude.

The worst fillet steak I have ever had! Well it obviously was not fillet as it was so fatty and tough. The manager didn’t know what day it was let alone what was going on in his own restaurant! Will never go back here it was disgusting.

Our waitress Ayu was attentive, friendly and very helpful. The evening was a present for Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will return as soon as possible.

We had the 3 course festival menu on New Year’s Eve . The food was delicious . Staff very friendly. Look forward to dining with you soon

Overpriced for a fairly standard menu. Ribs were not cooked very well at all, very tough and hardly any meat. Service felt quite rushed and we seemed like we was constantly trying to be up-sold thorough out the visit.

Lovely food and excellent service from Ayu!

The decor of the restaurant was lovely which created a wonderful atmosphere, everything including the toilets was very clean and decorated to a high finish which made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Our waiter was extremely polite, friendly and attentive and all the staff had a smile for us which made us feel very welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented which I think always adds to the meal. Overall it was a wonderful way to spend Xmas day.
