Miller & Carter Herne Bay in Canterbury

Visited on Christmas day with the family for Christmas dinner. The food was exceptional, the staff were attentive and friendly. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and got us in the festive spirit. I'll be booking again for next year for a stress free Christmas meal.

Our server was Lee she was superb. Bright, cheerful, friendly, dedicated, attentive and efficient but not suffocating, she deserves a raise!

The environment was nice, clean etc. (although the toilets didn't match the restaurant). The food was presented nicely. However, it lacked taste and quality. The scallops were clearly frozen (poor texture) and small. The steak was OK, but not 'tasty'. My colleagues ribs were 'bland'. The desserts were similarly lacking - e.g. creme brulee without a crunchy top! The restaurant failed to deliver the premium that the image and pricing portrayed. We commented about the taste etc. to staff but weren't offered anything. Overall, it was disappointing and none of us are likely to return again.

NYE 2023. Just had an evening meal, 5 people. Cannot fault it. Atmosphere as always, relaxed and calm. Service by Sharon was excellent, friendly, attentive and efficient. Food fabulous, considering it is NYE, and very busy, we didn't have to wait for any course. Set menu, but still plenty of choice. Fabulous evening. Thank you. Happy New Year. Chanced our luck and didn't book online, car park was busy so looked online before entering, said fully booked but thought we would ask, was welcomed in and shown straight to table. Lee was our steak expert and was lovely, nothing too much trouble and ensured everything was perfect! 10/10 thanks Lee!

Very nice establishment, excellent waiter service, unfortunately for a steakhouse that's sells you how good their steaks are, on this occasion it wasn't the case, 4 meals ordered 3 were excellent, the fillet however had to go back 3 times to eventually be cooked as ordered, to be fair the management were very apologetic and accommodating, resulting in a mutually acceptable reduction in the final bill, would still go back as very good overall

Christmas Eve lunch - delicious. Staff friendly and attentive. Didn’t have to wait long for our orders to be taken and the food to arrive. Overall a lovely experience and we will be back soon.

Lee was our server and was amazing! My dad forgot his glasses and she helped him read the menu and took time out of the busy shift to help us. Very kind and happy.

Was my husbands birthday and we had a lovely meal at the Herne Bay Miller & Carter with family. The food was delicious and the waiter was very polite and attentive. Being Christmas the restaurant was beautifully decorated.

The Boxing Day experience here didn’t start well TBH! We were sat 40 mins late in the bar area awaiting our table which added an extra £60 to the bill having to buy extra drinks! But on asking the meme we of staff who was seating guests & on the front desk rudely shrugged his shoulders and said nothing he can do! Very rude man! BUT the waitress we had was extremely polite & amazing as well as the food which did make up for the rude male! We had a lovely time thanks to the food and our waitress.

I went to Miller & Carter Herne Bay for a meal with my other half the waitress recommend the "Festive Butchers Block Experience" it had everything Ribeye, 2x Fillet, & Rump steaks pigs in blackets, Marrow Bone, cripy onion wedge, toms, Red Cabbage Cauliflower cheese, new pots & chunky Chips what a meal it was all Very nice, steaks melted in your mouth I can highly recommend this @ Miller & Carter well done

This is the second time we have been served by lee she is very friendly and efficient and our meals of ribs were perfect

Bartender Jai was so polite and attentive. Waiting for the table to be set was made so much easier with his assistance and prompt service. Server Courtney was absolutely incredible, nothing was too much for her and she was so welcoming and accommodating. 10/10 service. Thank you so much Courtney!

Had great expectations of this place but sadly for me fell well short of what I expected.my starter of prawn cocktail was tasteless with no bread on the side .we didn't opt for wine but the glasses were left on the table which was strange .we had to ask for more drinks.Had to ask for a steak knife and one steak was cold.one thing which I thought was good is that they ask you if you want the gratuity put on the bill.We opted to have it removed.we did do a tip as the waitresses did the best job they could.my opinion is they are trying to serve to many people to quickly to maximise turn over.Maidstone resteraunt was alot better in my opinion

Birthday dinner was really enjoyable. I was impressed by vegan options and really enjoyed my burger. Overall we all enjoyed our our meal. Service was great special mention for Sharon our server.

What a brilliant night I chose to book my 21st at miller and Carter this evening where Lee took care of us! Our waiter Rob was very attentive and informative as it was our first time to the restaurant. Food was very good and presented well. Only one minor disappointment was slight delay from kitchen to table but, other than that, a very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend and happily go again.

Amazing evening, our server Jack was new to the team and he was great, a credit to the tean😊 We were celebrating our engagement and it was a lovely touch when pudding arrived with a congratulations 🥰 Food was lovely as always.

We have just enjoyed our anniversary meal here, and it was a really lovely evening being looked after by our waitress, Courtney, who was helpful, attentive, professional and friendly. Our food was perfectly prepared by chef Sophie, and we were impressed to be given a nicely decorated anniversary plate as a little extra dessert at the end of a lovely meal. A really nice touch which makes you feel very welcome and cared for.

This was our 1st time at Miller & Carter. Our server Courtney went above and beyond which was the best part of our experience. Courtney was rushed off her feet the whole 21/2 hours we were there but she still made sure we had everything we needed and always with a smile. Courtney showed interest in us which was lovely. Unfortunately our food experience was not so nice, long time waiting for food, our meals came out at different times and I was served a very burnt bit of turkey with lukewarm potatoes. This was quickly replaced and we were given this meal free of charge which Courtney advocated on our behalf with the manager, acknowledging the service that we received. We will visit this place again as we feel that we arrived when it was extremely busy with Christmas parties so we are hoping that next time will be a better experience.

We recently celebrated an 80th birthday and had an amazing experience. The food was fantastic, but what truly stood out was the exceptional service from our waitress, Courtney. She was efficient, accommodating, and went above and beyond to make the meal special for everyone. Her professionalism and friendly demeanour made the celebration even more memorable. Super impressed with the overall experience – highly recommend!

First time visit here and was always a bit dubious as I just looked at it as an overpriced Harvester. Well how wrong was I. The food was amazing from starters right through to desert. I would definitely recommend a visit here and will be returning.

It was the first time bring my parents to Miller & Carter Herne Bay and they absolutely loved it!! My mum ordered the chicken as she’s doesn’t normally like red meat, but after trying my 7oz rump cooked medium she actually said she’s order that next time, best steak she’s ever tried. Team were all soo polite & helpful! Can’t wait to return. Thanks to Debbie for the lovely lunch service, we can’t wait to return.

Our food was lovely, although the starter was not as warm as we would have liked, it did not affect too greatly the experience. Our server was Rob and he was an absolute joy to have, nothing too much trouble and a great personality and sense of humour. He made the evening flow and we were shocked at how long we were there because the time just literally flew by. We will definitely be coming back.

We booked for a quick something to eat on our way back from abroad, As always the staff were very friendly and very polite, we were seated immediately even though we were slightly early and served in a timely manor. The food was delicious and cooked and presented well.

Wish me and my wife could give more stars! Food was top notch (we had each three courses which we've never done before, says alot!). Forget this place for manners if your disabled in a wheelchair , poor choice of Beers ( non alcoholic ) barman dropped dropped change by mistake ( I hope ) on floor no apologies for this and left to struggle to pick up of floor. So sad as looked nice and was going to stay to order meals but left as felt like a second class citizen and shouldn’t be out in public

Food is always lovely here but Courtney made our meal even better! She’s all for being honest about the best things on the menu, having a laugh, her customer service is excellent! 5* to Courtney.

Table of 5 adults at Herne Bay location on 25/11/24 booked for 12.15. Slow to take the drinks & food order. Two of the party had starters. By 1.30pm, main courses had to be chased through waitress & then Manager. Two fish & chip meals were dry & overcooked. The Signature Steak Sandwich ordered med/well but arrived very well done & black on the edges. One meal of fillet mignon (supplement of. £6.50) was pathetically small & not 5ozs & overcooked. Surprised the staff thought it acceptable to offer such a meagre portion. The Onion loaves were all overcooked, it was difficult to put a fork into it. So very disappointed as it was a family reunion. Have never written a review but feel the experience was so poor, this needs to be addressed. We spent 2hrs 50mins mostly very annoyed at waiting for our food to be served in a timely manner.

Booked a table at Miller and Carter, had excellent service from the time we walked in the door, met by a young man called Steven, showed us to our table explained who would be serving us and then introduced her, selection of food was great, service 1st class and the food was excellent, Steven came back to check everything was okay throughout the meal, all in all service standard was excellent

The server was brilliant, the service was brilliant and the food was lovely and fairly priced.

1st time visiting. Location is good, amd has plenty of parking. Was shown to our pre booked table as soon as we arrived. Waitress took our drinks order and walked us through the menu as we wanted to do the sharing platter. Food came out in a very timely manner. The sharing platter was delicious. Steak cooked to perfection. Our service was extremely good. We also ordered a creme brulee for dessert. We couldnt fault any of the food. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

This was a 10th anniversary dinner and we weren't disappointed. Our waitress Sharon was very friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even better. 10/10, would nosh again.

Average score for an average dinner, wasn't expecting much and on that score we weren't disappointed. Seems like most of the food is pre-prepared and microwaved to order. Most of the other diners seemed to be guys across from the Premier Inn, £120 for dinner for two, you can get much better for the money, try the new Ivy in Canterbury, equal on price but way ahead on service and quality and the server probably wont refer to you as 'my lovely'.............

Do not recommend, service is slow. Unfriendly staff - avoid going here.

Bonnie went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable. 3 of us dined and our food came up together each course . Bonnie checked through meal to ensure all was okay . Thank you would definitely come back a lovely meal and experience.
