Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Sunderland

I only got a dirty burger it was definitely dirty the pot of special beef sauce was a oxo cube in water very bitter and the onion loaf was chewy over all it was to sweet definitely now worth it the chef needs to go back to college. to cook steak all day and not no how to make a nice gravy or burger proper bull sxxx

Lovely just what i would expect from Miller and carter Warm welcome friendly and welcoming staff. Steaks cooked to perfection as always (don't know how you do it miller and Carter). We have been to quite a few of your restaurants now and not once have we complained infact we now have all our family and friends coming to you too and no complaints from them either So well done miller and CCarteron your excellent training methods. Just one little criticism all the tables in the drinks area had little candle lights on them and not one of them were lit .

The food was devine and meltted in your mouth. We where a group of ten and the service was amazing. The atmosphere was lovely and exciting. Perfect for a family night out. The sever was amazing we had Dave he was very talkative and lovely to talk to.

Disappointing to say the least. Attended here for a special occasion with my better half. After requesting my steak medium to well, The steak arrived and was burnt on the outside lots of fatty grissle and still showing signs of blood on the inside. The onion loaf was burnt to a crisp and inedible. Very disappointed with this visit as miller and carter was my favourite place to dine for all our family occasions. Doubt I will return because of this experience and it put a downer on the whole day as we both looked forward to this. Things would need to change dramatically before returning to eat here again.

The staff were fabulous. Kayleigh was our server and was great. Food was excellent, we really enjoyed it. Only bad point was the restaurant was pretty cold. A bit uncomfortable eating in the cold. One thing I hate is a cold restaurant. It was a very cold night and every time the door was opened a cold draft blew up the restaurant. I would avoid being anywhere close to the door.

Lovely food as always, my steak wasn't cooked as I requested, quite rare rather than medium, I did not send it back, as I hate sending food back but would put me off ordering the same again. Having said that everything else was lovely.

Our first visit here and we were not disappointed. We had the special lunch menu and the food was delicious, service was excellent and special mention to our server Sam, she was polite and friendly without being intrusive, we’ll be back when in the area again.

Took my 80 year old parents for lunch with my wife at 2pm. Had to wait a little while to be seated and was told that their heating had been off this morning, was on now but the restaurant was a little cold. They seated us near the French Doors, we asked if there was anywhere else, was told there was but it would be the same temperature there. They offered my Mum a hot drink to help, she asked for a tea. Took them 45 minutes to get the cup of tea! This came with the other drinks we had ordered. Food was very nice but did take an age to arrive. It wasn't the hottest but we'd been waiting that long and everyone was hungry so just ate. Overall then, food was nice but there was no thought for the customer (my Mum kept her hat on coat on the entire time) and the temperature. We'd not been to Sunderland M&C for a long time, we'd had some poor experiences with service before there, but thought it was time to give it another try. Looks like very little has changed.

Great service and decent atmosphere. A bit out of the city centre but worth the trip. We shared the Butchers Block and it had a good selection of great tasting meats.

Very poor service, waited an hour for my first drink and before we could order any food. At one point I went to the bar myself as we waited so long for more drinks. They were unable to offer alternatives to set accompaniments (required due to food intolerances). They only cater for gluten issues; even their mayo has milk in it and balsamic has onion added for some bizarre reason. I ended up with a near cold, dry steak on a plate with no garnish or accompaniment other than fries. Really poor for a professional kitchen/chef. Front of house staff were apologetic and the bill was amended but that couldn’t make up for this shameful experience. Needless to say I will not be recommending this particular restaurant (Fulwell) and will not be going back.

The service by Sam was great she knew about the best way to cook / serve the rib eye I has ordered and suggested medium rare. Which i think was correct. I cannot remember if she asked how we found the meal! The starter & salad wedge was lovely. However, the steak, onion rosti, tomato & peppercorn sauce were only lukewarm while the chunky chips were hot. Presumably the steak etc. was left standing while awaiting the chips! The steak was very fatty and stringy. The onion rosti was tough & lukewarm The restaurant could have been a bit warmer. I am not sure I will return when I next want steak as this is the second time I have complained about the food afterwards.

Visited for a birthday, food was nice, steaks always very good and cooked to request. I had the dirty burger for a change and enjoyed it, although felt it was luke warm and maybe had been waiting at the pass until rest of meals were ready, didn't send back as was hungry and can get away with a burger not piping hot. Good to see the restaurant busy also. However, area went cold when a number of people left. Emily who looked after our table was great, friendly and informative and lovely personality, taking a family photo for us and recognising my sons birthday. Simple things but it was busy and she was covering numerous tables, so appreciate her attention.

Visited and after a few issues I raised it emailing miller and carter direct to see if they would act upon any issues but received the generic response with no offer of any refund or discount on any future vistas despite spending a good chunk of money on the visit Not happy with the response so leaving review for public Food was very good, service friendly but food took longer than I’d expect however cleanliness and decor disgusting to eat next to. Response tried to mention it was due to busy festive period but the state of plates walls and decor is way older than a few weeks ago Drinks also filled with 70 percent ice

We had a really lovely evening. Our waiter Dave was extremely attentive, friendly & professional. The food was very well presented and served in good time however, I had to mark the score down for the food because Miller & Carter are a steakhouse & both rump & ribeye steaks had a lot of fat and was on the tough side. All our other food dishes & sides were faultless!!

We were served by Mark who was so helpful, quick and friendly. We had everything we needed with minimal wait. Would highly recommend Dave and Miller and Carter.

Amazing service and incredible food!

The food wasn’t great. Chateaubriand was chewy and not to a high quality. Fillet mignon was dry even cooked at medium rare.

We had steaks for main meal cooked terrible rock hard !! 2 nd bad meal in a row had there !! not going back only good think was the boy who served us was excellent !!

Last minute booking, sat promptly, and had great service from Sam. Food was delicious.

Dave was lovely couldn’t fault him, however this is properly one of the worst miller & carters I have ever been to. Dave did explain the screens in the kitchen where broken however the chips were hard the onion thing was extremely hard you could have put a window out with it the beef dripping was like water. Over all the food was awful. Couldn’t fault the waiter. Will not be back to miller and Carter Sunderland

Xmas day 6ppl, bang average food cold veg, salty turkey ( possibly over brined). Atmosphere was not very festive despite the decorations inside being very good there was no piped music. Service was excellent. The food was the let down, would not return for Xmas day lunch

Rebecca was an outstanding server, she was polite and prompt and very respectful of our needs, a big thank you and a credit to the company. The food was delicious and very reasonable in terms of cost The set menu of £24:99 for 2 courses was slightly misleading as only 1 steak choice was included the remaining 3 had a supplement cost added which I feel isn’t right and seems like a bit of false advertising, however we had the included one which was delicious.

We visit here at Christmas every year but not anymore. The staff that served us were rude and abrupt. My dad had an ear infection so could not hear and she rolled her eyes at him. I asked for a steak medium well done but it was rare but they argued it was and did nothing. My fries were half full of salt. We were so disappointed.

Food was only a four because I wasn’t told the sweet would be frozen solid.

We came for Christmas dinner and it was amazing! It was me, my wife, and two kids. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had never thought of having steak for Christmas dinner before but have since agreed it will be a family tradition. Thank you to all that made it special
