Mister Ali's Tandoori & Balti Cuisine in Stockport

The tikka masala was way to sweet, and so was the korma ,

Went to Mr Ali’s this evening with a school friend for catch up and dinner and have to say the food was fabulous! Great sized portions and everything’s bursting with flavour! Thank you to the staff on tonight, will definitely be coming back!! (Don’t be known if it’s anything but took me less than 10 mins from station)

On Christmas day I witnessed groups of people randomly walking in and sitting down on reserved tables causing a scene when told they had to get up as they were pre-booked seats. Staff were calm and dealt with the situation in a professional manner not wanting to ruin everyone else's special day dinner hence the delay and mix up with seating and food. Respect to the manager and his staff who provided fantastic service even after all the commotion. And, of course the food was delicious I'd say well worth the wait!

Me and my family attended for Christmas day meal.There was some problems (I belive someone put a napkin down the toilet!) but this was not the staff or management's fault. As usual there were a few individuals who tried to take advantage of the situation refusing to pay their bills causing a scene even though they ate their full meals! We sat and enjoyed our meals and the kids were delighted with the crackers on table. Sometimes incidents/accidents happen which in this case was because of some brainless customer flushing the wrong thing down the toilet! Atmosphere was bit tense at first but the customer service and food made up for it. Free drinks were offered for inconvenience.

I have tried most Indian restaurants in Stockport and have to say Mr Ali's is so far the best. So, this is where I get my regular curries from now😊

Visited twice this month, the first time, the number of starters on the bill had been doubled (human error accepted) however the second time £20 had been added to the total! Not an error IMO. Good food but trying to rip us off far outweighs this! Will not go again!

We had a lovely post Christmas family meal - the staff were very accommodating - my toddler has lots of allergies and they made a dish especially for her so she could join in at dinner. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very friendly. Thank you!

Mister Ali's is a lovely local restaurant that we visit frequently. The staff are very friendly and the food is fantastic and great value.

We always have an excellent meal at Mister Ali’s. The South Indian garlic chilli chicken is a must have. Lovely staff, nothing is too much trouble.

Usually great service christmas Day was unforgivable starters arrived 1hour n 15 minutes late and raw sewage was leaking from the toilets will not be going hear again not even for the buffet

Christmas day meal ruined as they didn't have a table big enough for the group we'd booked, stood round like Christmas muggins. we didn't get our starters till an hour after arriving. They didn't know what we'd ordered, we'd pre booked our meals and they kept going 'oh yeah you did' then kept coming back and asking 'so what do you want to eat?'. The cherry on the cake, as we waited another hour for the main (which never arrived) the bogs all backed up and flooded half the restaurant. They were bringing food out through all the toilet water like it wasn't an issue. We left with half the restaurant, they managed to keep our deposit though. Merry Christmas, glad I had a frozen pizza at home.

I was working in the area and I fancied treating myself to a Curry. I called at Mister Ali's as it was closest to where I was staying. I ordered the pickle tray and two poppadoms. The poppadoms were nice and fresh. I felt that the pickle tray consisted of items out of a jar and not made. The vegetable biryani was alright. It wasn't that spicy or actually that warm. The vegetable sauce was alright, but not the best. Would I recommend and return. Probably not. If you find my review helpful, please follow me as I regularly review.

Good choice and quality at a good price. It's nice to have Naga dishes on the menu, full of flavour. Will be back as all eight of the party really enjoyed every dish and portion size is good in every case.

we were there yesterday, it was my husband's birthday, we were for the first time in this restaurant and to be honest, it was the first time I ate it so delicious, I highly recommend it and we will come back soon. the staff is fantastic and helpful, they will come and talk to you.

The chicken has a rubbery texture and looks unnaturally red, as if it’s been dyed. While the sauce is decent, it was taken away as soon as the papadom was finished. The lamb is gamey and difficult to eat. The only highlight of the meal was the papadom at the beginning, and the service was satisfactory. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I won’t be returning.

Stopped here due to seeing advert for Sunday buffet it was a bit of a strange atmosphere poppadoms and starters were served and there was a choice of half a dozen curries only one was lamb the rest being chicken an aloo dish and nan bread. Food was OK nothing special price was OK but the drinks costs were extortionate

Don't know what has happened in the last 12 months or so since I last came hers but, what an awful experince. Asked to do the Sunday buffet (arrived at 8) to be told it eneded at 8:30. Does not state end time anywhere or if it does not clearly! Ok Popadoms and drinks arrived quickly however, starters took forever to arrive and were minimal. Thanj gokdness we were not paying individually for the mis starter at nearly £7 with 3 items on. The buffet was a disgrace! Bare minimal, only 3 side options of Rice, which was solidified abd luke warm, chunks of Naan Bread and Bombay Potato, no Chips, no Saag Aloo. Had maybe 3 curries on, my freind got a korma which had no chicken in it only suace which was a disgrace. Bill came hand written, on our table menu Cobra pints priced at £4.95 tried to charge £5.50 off a menu they brought over having divded up what we would pay by 1x buffet each and what drinks we had each. This came to around £5 short on the bill going off the drinks menu on our table. Did not pay the extra £5 for drinks. A quick calculation of if they serve 30 people a night tagging on a £5 per bill 5x30x7=£1,050x4=£4,200x12=£50,400 so a lot of money they are ripping off people, thats why I refused to pay off this menu they brought over with hand written prices on. Went off the typed one on the table. I will not be returning and I know a lot of people who go here and they will be informed, plus staff got angry when challanged them on the overcharge, shocking.

Late Sunday afternoon meal for one. It was busy but the staff were great. Good food, freshly cooked starter then help yourself to the buffet. All good even the nans were fresh soft and fluffy. A most enjoyable meal

In our opinion buffet meal was a bit plain(buffet on Sunday) however starters were brilliant and for that price you can’t blame them. On offer for £16.99 Popadoms with dips and Starter -Kebab,spring roll,salad and onion bhaji+ main meal (choice from the metal dishes on the table). My only suggestion would be to use see through dishes so we can see what is what and put information on the side what’s inside of it(what is vegetarian and what is not) If someone likes plain food is definitely good place to go to. Customer service was fantastic, lovely people and atmosphere.

Always popular in when in this part of the country. Good food and friendly staff. I was here again last week Feb 2024 and the staff were as friendly as ever. This is my favourite curry restaurant in the area.

There were 11 of us. 9 meat eaters, 1 vegetarian, 1 vegan. We were well looked after, the waiters were friendly and efficient, the service very good. Most had the 'all you can eat' selection, which catered for meat eaters and vegetarians. Although nothing on the menu is labelled vegan, the waiters know which of the vegetarian options are dairy and egg free. The food was excellent for all. Recommended.

Went in today for my first time and wow what a curry the food is on an other level and the staff are brilliant really nice couldn't help you enough

very good curries just like they used to be several years ago when Indian food was booming. First order from here but I'll be ordering again as I'm tired of just wasting money on Indian takeaway that are quite frankly awful !

Just the most special little place. My family have had meals here for years. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. They are so accommodating and you can tell they all work really hard. The food is amazing and delicious! Definitely worth a visit!

We had a horrible experience at Mister Ali. Firstly, the service was very poor and we were served after approx 40 long minutes of waiting. We ordered chicken shaslik for the starters, it was full of bright red food colour which is really harmful for one's health. As we were eating it our first fingers were stained red which ultimately went away after through washing. For the main course, we ordered veg jalfrezi, contrary to it's name had very few vegetables in it and was extremely spicy. There were more chilles than vegetables in the dish. We also ordered 5 (Indian flat bread)chapatis(for the 2 of us) to go with the veg main course as we thought it would be a standard size chapati. The chapatis that came were huge and we could eat just 2. The waiter taking the order should have atleast had the courtesy to tell us about it in order to prevent food wastege. I would never visit nor do I recommend anyone.

The best curry house going by far and has been for years. Nothing comes close. The staff there are spot on. Very helpful. The food is fantastic. Very clean inside. Prices are very good also. 👍🏾

Recently moved back to stockport and have heard good things about Mr Ali's, decided to try it tonight and was not disappointed, good attentive staff, I had a mixed starter and for main a house special biryani with a plain madras sauce and a paratha, really nice meal, plenty of flavour and a decent size portion. Will definitely be going back to sample some of the other dishes on the extensive menu. Compliments to the chef and thank you to the staff.

Food was ok but be warned, as the bill is handwritten at your table (it’s not the 70s) they add stuff on that you haven’t had so double check your bill. Also asked for NHS discount (which is advertised on the menu) and that was angrily met with ‘Which one of you works for the NHS then?’ and we only got the 10% off her order when there was 6 of us! Don’t advertise it if you don’t want to do it… Disappointing experience to be honest and won’t be going back.

Had a takeaway, we usually go for the same dishes but decided to take a chance on the set meal for four. There were three mains we have never had before. Everything was delicious, good portion sizes and delivered hot! It was one of the restaurant staff who delivered it and he was lovely. Thank you, we will be back.

Excellent food, really tasty authentic cuisine and portion sizes just right. The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is looking a bit tired but overall doesn't detract from a really tasty and well priced meal.

6 of us went on Wednesday night we had the mixed starter , I cut my samosa in half and smell that came from it was disgusting it was sweaty meat knocked me sick . My main meal came out Lamb Balti , which was full of fat , which I could not eat All 6 of us was ill the next day. They also over charged us £20 We have always had a great meals from here but would definitely not return, My advice to anyone thinking of going Don’t stay away !!!! If I could give NO stars I would

Fantastic lovely food, the 'Old chef' has returned and the food is phenomenal as it always is. I think customers have been confused due to the chef, but once I went in and spoke to the team all is clear. Highly recommended to my friends and family.

I went to the restaurant with my family, ordered the food which came very quickly and was very tasty, the service was really good, the waiters and waitresses were really nice and helpful. I will be back again soon! (the lamb staff curry was very nice)

This has been our go to Indian restaurant for the best part of 20 years but to our disappointmentment it has been taken over by new owners. Food wasn't great its also gone up in price but the service was good

Love Mr. Ali's...our family have been eating here for over 30 years and we have never had a poor curry. The trend and love has passed down to our Grandsons who love coming here. 4 Generations of fans who have all had great meals here . We have had Christmas, Birthdays, 18th's, Anniversary's here. Been going to Mr Ali's for many years and never been disappointed. The food has always been excellent and the staff have always been friendly, professional and welcoming. Last night we went in to see if the high standard had remained under the new management and staff. It did not disapoint. The staff were very helpful and attentive and the food was lovely. We will definitely be continuing with our regular visits there

Amazing food and great atmosphere.

Lived nearby for many years and never been in. Went today for a friends birthday I had the buffet sunday deal and I'm so glad I chose it. A lovely selection of starters plated and brought to the table. Very tasty. Then u help urself to rice nan bread and a good selection of currys ect. I personally like the table to be cleared a little sooner than they did. Manager brought a free ice cream treat for the birthday girl and they played birthday music. Nice touch. I will definitely be back. Excellent value for money.

Highly recommend this place! Food was amazing

The starters and chutneys are very tasty and generous. My partner and I have tried different dishes and they have always had a very good flavour, we like that they recommend dishes and that they put the amount of spiciness that our palate tolerates, which makes the service very good and personalized :) ATM our favorite dishes is the Achari (lamb) :)

Ordered from Mr Ali’s for the first time today and will definitely be our go to Indian takeaway from now on! They offer a 15% off on takeaway orders which is an added bonus :) We ordered a collection and when we got home noticed we were missing a portion of chips and we called them and they resolved the issue straight away and within 10 minutes they delivered a portion of chips! They even put onion bhajis in the bag as an apology! Cannot fault this place at all. Great quality food, great customer service! 10/10 recommend.

Lovely meal, great service, but went at 7pm on Wednesday night for a quiet romantic meal, but a group of 20 young men enjoying themselves made it very noisy, making it impossible to chat. Would go again , and food is recommended.

One of the best Indian takeaways I’ve had in a long time. Delivery time was extremely reasonable and portion sizes are generous. The balti was wholesome and tasted great. Highly recommend.
