Mondo Restaurant in North Lanarkshire

Unprofessional service. Staff sitting on seats just outside the kitchen, in ear shot of tables of customer , staff sitting chatting and swearing while people were waiting for service and tables were needing cleaned. Waited 15-20 minutes after being seated and no one came near table, had to ask if we could order drinks. Drinks eventually came at the same time as starters. No set staff member covering our table. Food quality was not what it used to be. Last but not least , the staff emptied the bins and carried large bin bags of rubbish through the restaurant to back door while customers were still eating. Mondo need to give themself a shake. Standards need brought in line with prices

Lunch at Mondo for birthday. Arrived at 12.30pm, restaurant relatively quiet yet took 50 minutes for food to arrive! Not worth the wait. Steak pie - 3 pieces of meat, the rest just gravy, overcooked chips. Chicken balmoral - not even a chicken breast, slice of haggis (!) and spoonful of mash. Peppercorn sauce in a tiny pot. Vegetables for all meals consisted of 1 broccoli stem, 1 slice of carrot! Unattentive staff, poor service and overpriced meals, this place has certainly gone downhill, as regards quality and value. Used to visit Mondo regularly, won’t be back!

Great celebration for my auntie ❤️ 80th birthday 🎂 party. The atmosphere was great. My burger is a wee bit dry . All other food is great. Staff friendly, and yes, here I go to the toilets 🚻 😊 clean . Thank 😊 you to all who made this special 💗 night a great night 🌙

Experienced my Christmas lunch here. Absolutely amazing food! The staff were so lovely too. The atmosphere and decor on point. Highly recommended.

Ordered prawn cocktail for starter and turkey wuth the trimmings, the prawn cocktail arrived and looked good however it was absolutley tasteless even the sauce give them their due they removed it from the bill,the turkey dinner arrived again looked good again it was poor it was on par with arriving late at a beefeater and getting the dregs (sorry beafeater). ps. I,m still waitng to be asked if i want another drink

A group of us from work enjoyed a really good Christmas lunch at Mondo. I had the three course option, the sticky toffee pudding is worth a special mention.

Had my birthday lunch here Sunday 17th nov with my partner and son food was excellent 2 medium fillet steaks and a rare all came as expected .couldn't fault it .puddings were delicious and a cocktail to finish .wine choice was excellent . Definitely be back when we visit here again. We stayed in hotel and the breakfast and service was excellent .

I booked Mondos this week for my sons 16th birthday. We have raved about Mondos since we first visited a few years ago and have been back several times since. We have recommended to friends, family, and colleagues because we loved the food so much, but sadly, after our visit this week, we won't be back, and we absolutely will not be recommending it again. We all ordered our usual go-to food. Starters My son had sizzling king prawns, which came with a slice of garlic bread. The king prawns were nice, but the garlic bread was burnt and hard to eat. My partner ordered the soup, which came with a roll that was doughy and underdone. The soup portion was noticeably smaller than our previous visit in 2023, but pleasant. I ordered the Bruschetta Pomodoro, and what came out was an absolute disgrace so much so I told them to remove it from the bill, thin as crisp bread and burnt to a crisp and flavourless thinly diced tomatoes and onions which is more like a salsa and a sad looking salad. I was actually taken aback. I handed it to the server, who said she would let the kitchen staff know. She came back 5 minutes later and asked if I wanted another, which I declined as we had all finished and waiting on mains. Onto the mains, which again we ordered our go-to choices. Son and partner both ordered the Braised Blade of Beef. When both dishes arrived, we could instantly see it was a different cut of meat than previous visits, and the jus was watery and see through, the veg sides had changed, and so had the mash, but the kicker for this meal was the beef. Usually, a beautifully cooked piece of meat that melted melted away. What my son and partner cut into was absolutely disgusting so much, so I told my son not to eat it. As he got to the middle, it was slimey jelly like fat, coming away in strings on the fork. It was vile, and at almost £19 per meal, it's an absolute disgrace. I had the Pepper Chicken, which has also gone downhill. Normally soft and juicy, it was dry and tough. The peppercorn sauce has changed and in place of the tenderstem broccoli was 2 small florettes that were crunchy and hard to eat. Again, at £16.50 it's not worth the premium price anymore. We normally have the deserts but decided that was enough to put us off and leave. We paid the bill minus the bruschetta, and the total was £70 which is a lot of money for the quality and quantity drop of all the items we normally love, we sadly won't be back after all of the above. Food is amazing nice friendly staff

I’d heard of Mondo but never visited until today and had no expectations - being treated to lunch. Parking is free but it’s important to give your registration plate at reception as they have a private car park close to the main entrance and very convenient. The staff asked straight away for the car details so little risk of a fine…well done in that respect. Décor is very modern, with a spacious layout, a dark interior, a lovely bar area with plenty of sparkles and a tasteful display of alcohol. The staff were very professional and couldn’t have been friendlier, and nothing is too much trouble it seems. The food arrived quickly and was delicious – I even liked the cutlery and saw another table admire it also. An immaculate toilet is always a sign of good hygiene throughout. At this point, I’m struggling to criticise anything, and I am very fussy…or so I’m told frequently! Honestly couldn’t fault my experience today, I’ll be back 10/10.

Beautifully cooked food, great staff- definitely worth a visit!

I have tasted every course through the menu. The quality of the ingredients and the cuisine is always high. Also the variety, seize and the price is excellent and fair. The service is at the top. Cosy ambient. My favorite restaurant in Scotland.

Staff needing retrained in customer service. Phoned to book a table for our works party and the girl on the phone was very rude and unprofessional. Said she couldn’t accommodate the party size, with a blunt attitude. I said could we not just have two tables? Straight up “no we don’t do that” and I said so you can’t provide an extra four seats? Responded with just a “no” and said just to leave it.

Got gifted a voucher for here for my 30th birthday and can honestly say I will never be back. Rude staff, food not fresh, charge you full price for food you don’t eat and argue with you about it. Our waiter was called Claire and she’s possibly the rudest waitress I’ve ever encountered. Ruined a birthday weekend for us! Spoke to the owner about our issues as he so happened to be dining for dinner and he didn’t have a care in the world. Quite happy to loose a customer and get a bad reputation. Avoid.

Food very good and service fantastic

We visited Mondo for lunch prior to a concert at The Ovo. The food was absolutely delicious and very well presented. Service was very good as was the atmosphere. Will definitely be back again and have already told family and friends how good it was

The food was absolutely beautiful, the staff was very, very nice, friendly and helpful. I waited a few weeks a few weeks as we had to pre book for my birthday, and I honestly think this is now my favourite place. Had a wee look at other dishes coming out & they all looked delicious and perfectly presented. 10 out 10👌

Our latest of many visits to this, our favourite, restaurant. As usual the service was excellent and atmosphere welcoming. We had a variety of starters/mains and all were delicious, special shout out though to the duo of beef, absolutely outstanding! Cocktails were great too, can't wait for our next visit .

The restaurant came highly recommended and our first visit was enjoyable but we were maybe a little over dressed and felt out of place. Food was lovely though. This being our second visit and it was perfect. We got an excellent table at the window and the Duo of Beef & Steak Pie were outstanding as was the Mint Aero cheesecake of the day (surely made from scratch in-house as it was delicious!) We look forward to another visit as soon as we get a babysitter :-)

Been here a few times over the years.it was our anniversary we came up from wales booked in ordered steak was really chewy chips were missing on my meal waited a long time for staff to get us a dessert menu,the young man behind the bar got a plate of food from the kitchen and wolfed it down behind the bar I had to watch this while waiting for my dessert not what you expect from an al acart restaurant prices gone up but quality and service obviously haven’t put us off coming back.

Great food and menu which includes a brilliant Gluten Free menu, lovely decor, staff brilliant always friendly and helpful. Prices reasonable. I'd recommend booking as it can be busy ..go to place in Coatbridge...it's one of my favourite places in that area.

Very busy. Staff indifferent to solo diner from hotel. Had to beg for bill . Noisy under speaker in ceiling. Chicken wings were awful drowning in tomato sauce goats cheese good broccoli cheese good wine lovely. Not too dear so ok for expenses. But was hurried and then ignored . Felt like wimpy service.

Fantastic food and service, we really enjoyed the experience. High end and modern while still family friendly. Thanks guy we will be back.

One of my friends arrived with a soft drink, I said I will have that but offer to pay for a coke. Only to have the Manager come up and say very loudly in front of our diners you can not bring your own drink in. I explained I was happy to pay the price of a drink. To which she throw her head back huffed and marched away. I took it she was fine with me paying for the soft even though (they weren’t providing it) only to have her come back and make another seen and march away. I went and tried to speak her privately only to receive the same treatment. Even when I tried to lighten the conversation. Needless to say I with another 3 friends left the restaurant. So for the sake of losing £3 (which they weren’t even losing as I was offering to pay) the restaurant lost easily over £100 of business. Well seen it’s not her own business!

Gorgeous food, great service and lovely setting. We came for an anniversary dinner and the meal and cocktails were delicious. Will absolutely be back.

Asked what soup was available, minnistrone and tomato n basil. Said il have the tomato. Waitress said,you can't have the tomato u till the minnistrone is gone,well that's what the cheff said. Otherwise was very nice.

Absolutely love this place, I travel here on business for a week every month. Starting the day off with a breakfast, the ladies are so welcoming and now know me, being an older woman it can sometimes feel a little uncomfortable when surrounded by tables of couples or lots of men, etc but not with these ladies as they make you feel extremely welcome and comfortable . The food is perfect ive tried a few things for breakfast but started having the eggs benedict every time with perfectly runny eggs. You get the same service in the evening, most of the staff are now used to me but even before that they were and still are pleasant and on the ball, you are spoilt for choice with the menu, Ive tried most things and all are equally amazing, I have too many favourites. If your in the area and wanting proper home fresh cooked food then this is the place Thank you for always making me feel comfortable and the great food !

Great steaks! service is usually good! sometimes can be a little slow. But in honesty food is pretty damn good (for Scotland, where we struggle as ‘decent food’ is quite novel!)

Food was brilliant, we were here as a big group. Service was excellent from the staff, couldn’t do enough for you. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

I have been to mondos several times and food has always been amazing evey time always had amazing service and staff are very welcoming I have tried most things from menu so would advise go have a look see what you fancy and won't be disappointed

Camexwith my wife for an early dinner. Food and service excellent. 11 of us came for an afternoon meal and catch up. Service was great, lovely atmosphere and brilliant menu well presented and very tasty. No doubt we'll be back.

Nice setting thays about it. Food was average at best. Fish n chips - fish was greasy, portion of chips was tiny and served in.a tiny metal bucket. Less than ten chips, I'm not even exaggerating. Waitress obviously couldn't be bothered. Changed over a couple of times which was annoying. Didn't even have the courtesy to ask if the meal was OK during the meal but pretended to be bothered after the meal was finished and it was time to take the money - needless to say no tip given for the awfully fake customer service. Here's a wee tip tho - that pathetic wee metal bucket you served the chips in is a kids portion at best. Highly insulting considering the price of the supposedly large fish n chips we paid for. Ank5her tip - ask the customers DURING the meal, then you won't need to act fake at the end of it. Music was also terrible. This was the first time and will be the last. Would like some response from.managemebt but I won't hold my breath. Abysmal.

We have been twice now this year. Everything about Mondo is fantastic! Food is beautiful! Service is fabulous! And the restaurant itself has a great welcoming feel. I know Coatbridge is not known for great eateries but this should be on your radar to go to! We travel from Livingston to eat at many places further afield but Mondo is a must visit.

The food is marvelous. What we like is that they have a gluten free menu.

Waitress forgot our drinks order,food yook 40 mins to arrive at table,only saving grace was that the food fir the adults was great,kids burgers looked like a small meatball on a roll

Large selection of food, my starter and main course were nice, the desert was a disappointment as the warm date sponge tasted of nothing, it must have been essence of date that was used.

People working slow motion. Over 20 minutes between starters and main. It takes an ages to receive the bill change. Plates well presented but common flavours you can find in other places.

what a gem in the middle of Coatbridge! Stayed here to attend a family funeral and do some genealogy research on my Coatbridge and Airdrie family. Reception welcomes every day were amazing especially Carol-Ann and Toni and others - sorry I can't recall all names but every single one of them and the breakfast staff and cleaners were just lovely. I would highly recommend this place as affordable and easy access to the surrounding areas.

Food was amazing, the duo of beef was out of this world!

I normally book here for a nice meal and a treat. Had been looking forward to going all week. The starter was overly salty and I had a lovely long hair as an added extra on my main. Needless to say we didn't stay for dessert and coffee like we usually do. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement! I will not be back!

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant, The food was really good and reasonably priced . I had the goats cheese mousse with prosciutto and melon to start, followed by penne arrabiatta was generous portions and fresh produce would definitely recommend.

Everything was lovely but a bit over priced for coatbridge

Great food and surroundings. My one criticism is that the tables are far too close to other patrons. It would be so much better if there was more space between the tables.

Food and drink was pretty good but really you need to do something about the cleanliness of toilets.

Great place for a special family meal. Lovely interior, friendly and efficient staff and the food was excellent. For the quality of the food the prices were very reasonable.

I was at Mondos on Saturday night with my son (Mother's Day celebration).We were shown to our table,service was excellent food delicious.staff friendly and very smart .the decor in the restaurant was very nice and modern.I would like to visit again soon .

Our night at mondo was great! we started off with a roll of sushi called "fire" it was fantastic we then went on to a wagyu burger which was very juicy and full of flavour. But desert was another level we got their special desert which was called "smooth delight" and the name says it all. The staff was also lovely and polite and Kipa and Sachin gave us a wonderful experience.

We have never been to Mondos before. But we enjojed the meals and the warm Atmosphere. So definetly a trip back again.

Food was mid at best, portion sizes were NOT good for the prices. Music was bad.

I took my wife here to celebrate her 40th birthday. From the minute we walked in,we liked the place immediately as the atmosphere was welcoming ,romantic and pleasant. Every bit of food we ate from the sizzling prawns and sticky chicken wings to the perfectly cooked steak where all very good. The waitresses where all smiley and professional and made us feel well looked after. We had literally just came back from Paris where we had eaten in some pretty renowned restaurants so that should tell you just his good this place is! Highly recommend
