Monsoon Indian cuisine in Scarborough

We usually have our Christmas dinner at home, but we decided this year we would eat out... So booked our table at Monsoon... I'm so so glad we did..... Absolutely first class! The Food, The Staff, The Service, The Atmosphere was second to none. If you are in the area l would highly recommend you pay these guys a visit, you won't be disappointed. Nothing too much trouble for them. I would say for me, Best Indian Cuisine on the east coast..... ✴️✴️✴️✴️✴️

This is one of my favourite types of cuisine, so whilst visiting relatives in Filey we decided to try it out. We were not disappointed, we like to try each others food, I tried a little of 3 starters and three mains and they were all excellent. Will definitely be coming back to the Monsoon next time were in Filey

On holiday - visited restaurant early evening. Chicken jalfrezi and king prawn tikka masala both fabulous. Staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend Can bring your own alcohol if you like a drink with your meal

Friendly welcome, excellent service and beautiful food. Yasin is brilliant and all the staff are very helpful. Highly recommend a visit. Just remember to bring your own alcohol drinks if you want to. Reasonably priced. Just wished we live nearer.

Excellent Curries at the Monsoon .. Best restaurant around Filey /Scarborough . My third visit and it never disappoints ..they do takeaway and can deliver to some areas . All my friends agree …it’s the Best.

Would have been five stars but they don't sell alcohol any more, although you can bring your own. We didn't know til we arrived though. Very friendly staff. Yasin was very attentive and helpful. Onion bhajis were the best I've ever had. Lamb biryani was excellent too.

The best Indian food we've had possibly ever! Definitely recommend and we're going to go again for the second time! The chicken shashlik was amazing!

Recommend booking as it’s a small restaurant that is busy. I can see why as the food was everything and delicious. We had a mixture of dishes and none of them disappointing, all hot, tasty, and everything seemed fresh. Different to have sliced chicken instead of chunks but it was moist and full of flavour. You take your own alcohol as they don’t serve this, but this doesn’t bother me not drinking, they sell non alcoholic drinks. Highly recommend this restaurant and hoping to return before we leave

High quality and attentive service. The curries we had ( handi chicken and garlic chilli chicken- extra chillies), were well above average. If you in Filey- this is the place to go to! Prices reasonable. BYO booze.

Always visit when we are on the east coast food is excellent

Been here a couple of times in the past and found it very good with lovely food, our recent visit was a miserable experience, we had gone in early for a evening meal, we ordered the usual with poppadums to start, they came soggy and like rubber, evidently these weren’t fresh by any means so complained about them, so it wasn’t a good start needless to sat the atmosphere was awful after that and we were stared at by all the staff throughout the meal, definitely won’t be having a return visit will go elsewhere in future.

Called this evening for dinner. Staff were very helpful and polite . We called in around a year ago as well. The food I'm pleased to say was absolutely delicious. Well cooked and good portions. The Naan bread was to die for. Thanks for a great meal again.Would recommend if you are in the area. Make sure you book well ahead.

Booked for Friday evening 8.30pm for 4 the staff offered excellent service and were very attentive. We had 3 courses and all the food was excellent full of flavour and piping hot. You take your own alcohol as they don't sell any but this wasn't an issue for us. The meals were reasonably priced and offered great value for the overall price. We had a great evening at Monsoon and will definitely book again when we're in Filey.

We have dined here quite a few times and had a few takeaways too, we live a short journey away down the coast but if we lived in Filey we would enjoy their food more often. The food is always lovely, cooked well, served timely and if we ask for something, such as a starter making as a main course or a hot dish being 'tamed' down, its never a problem. The staff are always polite and helpful. Everytime we have been, a member of staff will open the door for us as we leave - it's little touches like that which show the custom of their patrons are appreciated. 5 stars all the way.

I've been here MANY times now and every time the food has been amazing, and the waiters are so lovely & attentive. Highly recommended it! It gets busy though, so I would recommend you book a table.

Chicken wasnt as tender or very flavourful

I got in just before it opened and it was a very relaxed quiet environment, there was a few people in and the food came quickly, I got chicken pakora, paneer tikka and a garlic naan, the chicken pakora was very different to what im used to but it was nice none the less, the garlic naan was nice and thick and honestly the paneer was the best bit, the paneer was absolutely beautiful, i came here after visiting filey and if you live locally i recommend you try it here.

Absolutely epic food! Couldn't fault it. The service was fast and very polite. I can't recommend this place enough. Reservations are essential, as it's very busy!

We were pleasantly surprised with this little gem, 1st time trying, the food was exceptionally good the guys serving were very pleasant and surprised I was eating traditionally.. the truly surprise for myself was no alcohol in the restaurant ( bring your own) but supporting no drink and drive or just don't want the hassle to obtain license either way great option 😀

Quite simply superb. This was one of the best, if not the best Indian meals we have ever had. We had lamb shank bhuna and garlic chilli chicken, the lamb was melt in the mouth tender and perfectly spiced and to die for flavoursome. The garlic chilli chicken was absolutely gorgeous and cooked to perfection. We will definitely return when we are in Filey again, absolutely superb and highly recommended.

Great food, nice staff, plenty of gluten free option, and affordable compare to other places in the town. Really recomending it.

Takeaway ordered delivered spot on requested time. Food was outstanding, best Indian food ever. We ordered the banquet 2 , plenty filled us both and ashamed to say couldn’t eat it all. I could rave on and on. Please give it a try you won’t be disappointed. X

We're from Doncaster and visited this reeturant on a Sunday evening. The food was honestly the worst iv ever had! The food was terrible! And soo over priced! We eat out regularly at different Indians resturants in doncaster and this one by far has to be the worst iv ever had .Very over priced .Food was ready meal standard, the chicken was like it was out of a packet .The service and staff was awsome that is the ony good thing I can say. Been many times and always a pleasant meal,served hot and quite quickly. Most of the staff are very friendly apart from one older asian waiter who needs training in "how to win friends". Maybe his personality has been surgically removed. Our last visit had 4 poppadoms and pickle tray charged at £6.75. If that was correct then we will give them a miss on future visits

Came to filey and had a delivery from monsoon.. I must say this is best indian food I have had in a long time..delivery quick.reasonably priced..very tasty food ate the lot which unlike me ..defo be back and thinking of taking one home with me

Checked their website before heading to Filey and it clearly stated open till 11pm and also last orders 11pm presumably for takeover. Walked into an empty restaurant and asked for a table for 3, the waiter seemed disappointed that people had come in and weakly signalled towards a table. We sat down and the guy said it’s last orders so you’ll have to order right away and it’s nearly closing time anyway. I was like erm ok, he then said you’ll have to pay in cash if you don’t mind. It felt like he was doing us a favour rather treating us like a paying customer. We then decided to leave as it seemed to be an effort for them to serve someone a whole hour before their advertised closing time. The guy clearly wanted an early finish. Shocking

Excellent food, staff very attentive, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. It was all presented well and we were very well looked after. When we took the rest of our food home afterwards it was nicely packaged and we were given a bag. Would we go again? Definitely!

On a busy, sunny, Saturday early evening we were looking for something to eat and called in at Monsoon on the off chance. We hadn't booked but they managed to seat us providing we were done for when the table had been booked from - all the staff were lovely attentive people. The food was top notch. I often find dishes too spicy and I like lots of sauce. My lamb pasanda was perfect. Lots of lovely sauce and beautifully cooked pieces of melt in the mouth lamb. Not an ounce of fat on the lamb and lots of nice small pieces rather than great big chunks. My husband thoroughly enough his chicken karahi which had lots of peppers and onions. Naan, rice, pickles, poppadoms etc all great too and did not disappoint. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant, great food, service and very good value, such a shame it is 98 miles from where we live!

Booked here on a whim but then heard good things from locals during the day. We are a family of 4 (2 kids pre teen) and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The Salmon Tikka starter was gorgeous and the onion bhajis were nice and light. Our eldest had the butter chicken which we all stole parts off and the garlic chilli chicken was certainly spicy. We had the garlic chilli rice too…that built in heat (in a good way). For those with fussy eaters, the chicken nuggets and chips were more than enough. Was a lovely last meal for our holiday and I’d highly recommend this place.

Visited Filey for a weekend break and fancied an Indian so read reviews on Trip Advisor for Monsoon. Reviews did not disappoint. Absolutely amazing food. Best Indian we have had for a very long time. Staff were very attentive (but not overpowering) and made sure we had all we needed throughout our meal. Would highly recommend and go back there without any hesitation. Note they do not serve alcoholic drinks but said we could get a bottle from the local Spar. Which we did - good bottle of Malbec at £7.50 - corkage at £2.95 - £10.45 in total for a good wine which would have cost over £25.00 in other restaurant. If we could give more than five stars we would. There is only one downside we live 5.30 hours drive away but needless to say if we are ever in the area again Monsoon is top of the list. We are on a weekend break and booked in for a meal on Saturday 27th July. It was our first time at this restaurant and it won't be our last. Service was excellent, the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent and hot and tasty.

Went in a couple of weeks ago ordered a Chicken Rezala with extra chillies, best i've ever had. The missus ordered a Chicken Madras which she said was amazing. We've ordered a couple of take outs since, top draw, bing bang bosh.

Attended with friends who were celebrating their silver wedding. Food was enjoyed by all four of us, no complaints whatsoever. Atmosphere a bit of a lower mark as not many diners in when we arrived. Would definitely return in the future.

Great food. Bring your own drinks, which suited me perfectly. I had a lamb bhuna, which wasn't on the menu, but they cooked specially.

We were in the area and ordered a take away. The prices were reasonable and when we arrived to collect the place was full! It is a basic venue but once we ate the food we realised why it was packed with a waiting list! It might look like a cafe on the inside but the food makes for quality dining! When we got the food back we were impressed with every dish. We'd ordered a number of king prawn dishes and these were both delicious and the prawns were enormous and numerous! Do not miss out on the great food if you are nearby.

Been a few times to this place and I have to say the food and atmosphere have improved markedly. Whether they have a new head chef or new management in place, my wife, daughter and myself were really impressed. They now have a 'bring your own bottle' policy but that didn't detract. If you're visiting Filey then give it a go.

Absolutely delicious Indian restaurant. An oasis in a sea of Fish and chips, and pubs. They do not serve alcohol, but will help with BYOB, and serve a nice non-Alcoholic prosecco.

From Manchester on a weekend away. Visited here for the first time on recommendation absolutely lovely. Food was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. Will definitely visit again. Very reasonable prices as well. Couldn't fault a thing. Can also take your own alcohol ☺

On holiday nearby and was passing through Filey we fancied a curry so took a chance on the Monsoon, We had chicken balti & pasanda bother were really nice, bhajis & samosas. Well the best curry we'd tasted for a long time and cannot fault anything.

We were staying at Haven Primrose valley and fancied an Indian takeaway. Based on the reviews, we ordered from Monsoon and were not disappointed, the best Chilli Garlic chicken I've had in a long time and my wife really rated the chicken Madras.

On holiday - had takeaway. 1 chicken tikka masala, 1 chicken dhansak. Chicken in both was rubbery, not tender, left the chicken just had the sauce.

We visited the monsoon Indian restaurant this evening. The food was outstanding, friendly staff. Only down side is the restaurant was quite small. We phoned to book, which will be highly advised. No on site parking, but plenty of parking, around Filey.

Collected a takeaway, decent prices and really tasty food. Had the garlic chilli chicken which was beautiful, and had an extremely strong garlic flavour which I enjoyed. Would recommend Monsoon.

It was the first time I ate Indian food and I was not disappointed. Although we ordered a few starters, the food was very good, warm and with a distinct taste. If I'm ever in the area I will definitely order something for sure

I am from Doncaster, and whilst on holiday, I ordered from Monsoon Indian Cuisine, and all I can say is it's the best food I have had from an Indian restaurant . The Punjabi chips are amazing. I've never seen or heard of them being on any menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Filey. You can take away, which we did, or eat in and take your own drink. The staff were friendly and polite. Well worth a vist

Absolutely fantastic Curry house. The food is delicious and authentic. They will taylor the curry to your spice needs and recommend ones to you. A great menu that carers for everyone. No alcohol served but try the flavoured lassi it is delicious and goes well with the curry! The pickles are fresh and tasty and the sundries are all hot and flavoursome. The staff are also very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend. A great asset to Filey. Keep up the good work. We will be back!
