So for years we’ve been saying that we must try Mortons. It took our gorgeous friend Rosie Thurgood starting to work here to prompt us to visit. The Sunday lunch menu is incredible. Beautifully executed food and great value. Service of course faultless.

The was an afternoon tea birthday celebration but the standard of the food was disappointing. There were only two types of finger sandwiches. The scones had clearly been reheated and were still steaming hot 20 minutes after being served and therefore the clotted cream melted into butter and were very chewy. The staff did offer more scones. The macaroons were of a poor quality - soft and not crispy on the outside. The venue is lovely and the staff polite and helpful but overall the quality of the food for the price was disappointing.

This was an amazing place to eat. The welcome, the roaring log fire and the well set out dining room. The food was pretty amazing. But the high spot was the service. The hostess Ronnie helped create a revised main course to suit my allergies and she did it with care and good humour. We plan to return when next in the area.

We had dinner at Mortons Manor while staying in the area and had an excellent experience. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented and the service was spot on. The staff were welcoming and friendly but also very efficient and this made for a perfect evening. The hotel itself is delightful with lovely sitting areas for drinks before and coffee afterwards. It’s certainly somewhere we’d love to stay.

We held our wedding at Moretons because of previous stays. We found the manor by chance and have stayed numerous times since. The food is out of this world! The team at Moretons are amazing and serve the most delicious and beautifully presented. Our wedding breakfast was amazing we had chicken liver parfait, followed by roast beef (amazingly prepared it melted in your mouth) with seasonal vegetables and then we had Dorset apple cake! Our guests were blown away. Nothing was too much trouble. Can not recommend Moretons highly enough!

Stayed here during a long weekend in Dorset, but this review is specifically about the dinner restaurant. Outstanding meal, well composed dishes with thoughtful trimmings- chicken/asparagus terrine, herb crusted lamb, interesting desserts, in a relaxing country-house ambience. Booked for lunch at Mortons Manor as wanted something a little different. Inside the manor house it is absolutely beautiful - however understandably quiet as lockdown restrictions have just been lifted. We were pointed towards the bar/terrace area and we took a seat. Waitresses were walking round tending to other tables, (only two other sets of diners present) but we continued to be unnoticed. After 20 mins of not being approached, we had to go to the bar to ask for menus. We were then approached and orders taken. The food was disappointing; missing items which were ordered, and majorly overpriced for the mediocre quality & substandard service received. We weren't asked if we wanted any salt & pepper, werent asked if we wanted any sauces, and only asked "how was your meal" once we were done. Sadly there was a mistake where they mistakenly tried to overcharge us for items also. We really wanted this to be a decent experience but now wish we went to a local pub instead. Perhaps an evening meal would be better at Mortons Manor ?

Fine restaurant located in various ground floor rooms of the hotel. Elegant and warm atmosphere. Professional and attentive staff in a friendly service. The food (better the mains that the appetizers) was really well presented and, what's more, tasty and properly cooked. Desserts were also good. Important wine list with significant markups. Definitely, the food is good value for money. To be visited again.

We were staying in Corfe Castle for a few days and wanted something a bit different from all the pubs, and decided on Mortons Manor for a nice birthday meal. We were thrilled with our choice, a gorgeous manor with stately, tasteful decor and very friendly staff. The dinner was delicious, my partner and I both had the steak which was cooked perfectly, and the cheese board complete with birthday petit fours was a great way to finish the meal. The hotel is really old with lots of atmosphere and original features, but very up to date with interesting things on the menu and a varied and reasonably priced wine list. Four of us ate for my great-niece’s 18th birthday and there was something on the menu to suit us all. I had hake - perfectly cooked- as were the others’ venison, steak and pork. We commented afterwards that the portions were very well judged, and though we all felt we’d had plenty to eat, we weren’t too full to enjoy some desserts and a lovely birthday plate they put together very last minute for us. The service was perfect. We will definitely go again.

I had never been to Mortons House before but will certainly be going back. My birthday was on a hot day and on arrival we were given the choice of sitting in the lounge or outside with a drink while reading the menu. We chose outside and sat in a lovely quiet courtyard. It felt miles away from the hustle and bustle of Corfe Castle. The menu was well thought out with a good mix of both formal and more relaxed meals. The meal itself was in the restaurant which was very elegant with enough space between the tables for privacy and music playing gently in the background. They had also made sure on a hot evening that it was kept cool which was very welcome. The food was superb and definitely the best we have eaten in Corfe Castle. We both had seared salmon to start, followed by sea bass for me and hake for him. Portions were a good size - not too small or too large. We both had pistachio cake for dessert and mine had "happy birthday" written in chocolate around the edge of the plate which was a lovely touch. We had coffee and chocolates in the lounge. The service throughout was excellent. The staff are friendly and make you feel relaxed and welcome. I also liked that although the restaurant looks smart you don't have to overly dress up. I was in a summer dress and my boyfriend was in jeans and a shirt. I did not pay the bill as it was my birthday but I thought the prices were about right for the quality of the food and the surroundings in this corner of Dorset. Overall I would highly recommend Mortons House for a meal - for a special occasion, a romantic dinner or a treat. I look forward to returning there.

I reviewed this restaurant just over a year ago when we took my mother there for her 80th birthday. We were taking my mother again, this time for Easter. It was a huge relief to find that the restaurant was still as good as last time. My husband and daughter had fillet steak, one medium rare and one medium, both cooked to perfection. They came with oven-dried tomatoes, onion puree, wild mushroom and truffle sauce. and a metal basket of chips. Neither my husband or daughter could eat many chips which looked lovely and crispy, my mother who very rarely eats potatoes thought that she would try one and ended up eating nearly all of them declaring they were the best chips she had ever tasted! My mother had the Crottin of Goat's cheese with Fattoush and cous cous salad, dried plum tomatoes, baby spinach with a tapenade dressing. As she doesn't like olives my mother asked if there was another dressing she could have instead, they made her a lovely herb dressing which she thoroughly enjoyed. I opted for the Smoked Haddock kedgeree risotto without the deep fried poached egg. They offered to make it a normal poached egg but I still declined. This dish can be ordered as a starter or a main course. As I know the portions tend to be on the large side I had the starter size, which was just right anything bigger and I would have had to leave some! It was delicious and I was really pleased that I had chosen it. The dessert menu also brings it own problems - what to choose! My mother had the warm pistachio cake without the coffee sorbet, it looked more like a tart when it arrived but it certainly disappeared quick enough! My husband had apple pie and rhubarb with Birds Custard. This came as a small apple pie with separate sticks of rhubarb and a puddle of custard, it looked really good and it was a close run between my mother and husband as to who would finish first! My daughter and I went for the old favourite Mixed Berry Eton Mess, instead of being served in a glass it is beautifully arranged on a plate, making it easier to eat! There were plenty of strawberries arranged over Clotted Cream Ice Cream and Strawberry ice cream, this was topped with mixed berries and Muscavado Meringue. Such a wonderful mix of flavours without being too filling! The service was impeccable and the restaurant manager was very knowledgeable and helpful with queries about some of the different dishes. We had a table by the French doors in the dining room which overlook a terrace where there is a long pond, plants and tables with umbrellas for the warm sunny days, there were even a couple of hardy souls sitting outside having pots of tea. A really excellent restaurant for both guests of the hotel and visitors. The building is very old in beautiful Purbeck stone and plenty of character inside, worth a visit just to see the building that dates back to 1590. The restaurant has held two AA rosettes for ten consecutive years which is excellent.

There was something on the menu for most pockets here, and the food was really well presented by smiling staff. Fish is easy to over-cook, and mine wasn't, and I liked everything it came with. The hazelnut tart was a little dry, which is a shame as it looked wonderful. Wine was excellent - the house reds and whites being great value, wheres some of the other wines seemed expensive. This is a lovely place to sit and eat, particularly if you begin and end in the comfy lounge with its big log fire. We felt very looked after here.

Inside the historic hotel building is a wonderful restaurant. The menu is interesting as it blends solid favourites with well considered taste combinations. Presentation on the plate is visually splendid and the taste matches. And they know their customers. This is fine dining at affordable prices and with sufficient thought to the traditional expectations of quantities. They get the balance spot on. The cooking was excellent showing skill, flair and thought. I wish I lived closer - so I will definitely have to go and stay again to enjoy the restaurant. And the service was perfect: friendly, knowledgable, attentive and watchful without being fussy. Top marks all round.

We booked the Christmas Eve 'Gala Dinner' at Mortons House Hotel Restaurant. The staff were very accommodating regarding the dish choices. The food was excellent; delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you. You made my birthday meal special!

Food good but don't like the restaurant since it has been modernised. Has not got such a nice feel. Called in for morning coffee and afternoon tea and was hoping to see the lovely fireplace alight with logs as the lounge is very characterful and inviting but on both occasions during winter we sat looking into a bare fireplace and the receptionist could have been more welcoming. Felt we had woken her up and I think it is very important that the first person one encounters when entering a hotel (usually the receptionist) should make guests feel welcomed.

Worth a visit but expensive for some ordinary and in fact not very inspiring dishes. The best dish was a special of Venison which was superb but starter Scallops small and not as good as in a pub the previous day. Chocolate pudding not that good. Expensive hotel to keep and lovely venue but we would not go back. AA** a bit surprising.

Came here as part of a shooting party on Friday eve. From start to finish the service was faultless. Ronnie was the perfect hostess all evening from start to finish, knowing names, remembering what people were drinking etc. Service at the table was very attentive but not intrusive. The food was excellent, stunning flavours and excellent presentation. It was a wonderful experience and being local we will definitely be back.

We enjoyed great breakfasts, freshly cooked and nicely presented; the only drawback was the kitchen insistence in over flavouring some dishes to the detriment of the excellent ingredients; .e.g strong Italian seasoned air dried tomatoes swamping delicious pork and leek sausages, strong French mustard swamping delicate smoked haddock. Generally excellent service, but had to go and look for the kitchen on third morning when cooked dishes failed to arrive, and we were left alone in the restaurant!

Staying nearby I wanted somewhere special for my partners birthday. Did a bit of research and found Mortons House it was stunning in all departments. Food was to die for superb combinations presented with tlc and passion. Service excellent . Friendly helpful and attentive from the receptionist and waitress who were fantastic. The location is stunning, the restaurant and lounge area are relaxing and tastefully decorated for the period and romantic. When your eating in this calibre of restaurant in Leeds you would be paying through the nose. Our bill came to a mere £93 starters mains dessert coffee beer and wine for both of us absolutely excellent value here for gorgeous food. Having managed both rosetted and michelin starred establishments for many years Mortons House is well deserving of a Michelin Star infact its the best meal we've had in a long time. Thank you very much to all the staff on the night of 3rd November 2016 for making our dining experience a wonderful one.

Firstly I have not stated here or had a main meal so can not comment on them. However we frequently stop for the lovely and well priced afternoon teas. The gardens are lovely (unless wasps are out in force) and the building itself is stunning. The lounge is particularly beautiful and snug when the fire is burning. Recommended!

The Morton House is a stunning renovation of a historic Dorset manor house and the restaurant complements the loving care used in creating this beautiful piece of history. The bar has an excellent range of affordable wines and the menu is creative and adventurous. We had both dinner and breakfast there and appreciated both the food and ambiance.

A delicious variety of foods were served with panache. This could easily be taken as fussy but the quality was up to the standard set by the language of the menu.

had a outstanding traditional Dorset Cream Tea; two scones and extra cream and jam without demur or additional cost. Excellent and friendly service. Lovely sitting outside and at least one can park more readily than in the village center.

We always have lunch here when we visit Swanage and have had some lovely food. Sadly not on this occasion. We ordered crab sandwiches. Served promptly but the bread was dry and stale and the salad garnish was past it's best. Such a shame that more care wasn't the taken especially as they weren't even busy.

Bloody brilliant. Food and ambience superb. Service with a smile. Superb plaice and monkfish Thai curry. The desserts are all made by the chef. We had a pavlova but look forward to coming back for the chocolate torte. Very underrated restaurant of the highest echelon.

What a gem of a place. Happy friendly staff, who couldn't do more for us. We booked a table of 7 but had an extra person turn up and it was no problem. 3 vegans and a dairy/nut allergy sufferer, but so much choice, and help from the staff to find the right food. The portion sizes were insane and the cakes were out of this world! Cannot rate highly enough, we really enjoyed it all. Can't wait to come back (if you'll have us, sorry for the chaos)!
