Wasn’t good at all I brought the special fish and chips combo , the oil they used it was old they didn’t even filter the oil the fish and chips made me sick yesterday night I Vommited and had acidity for whole night , worst experience Never Going to Order again. Waste of money!!!!!

I was looking for somewhere local that does decent fish and chips and that's exactly what I got. The food is very nice and the staff are polite. They were busy with orders whilst I was in shop and I can see why. I had special cod and chips which gives a larger portion, very filling. I think I'll go for the regular size next time

Terrible food. After eating you would get an awful taste plus greasy affect left in mouth. Never again!!! Whoever goes there is wasting their money.

Food was pretty good. Ordered their large fish and chips. The fish was haddock. It was a really good portion, enough to feed 2-3 people. The spicy chicken sandwich was amazing. Very flavoursome and a really good portion. The dynamite wings and chips was disappointing. It was simply normal fried wings just dipped into some sauce. Wasn't great at all.

I usually frequent Brothers Fish and Chips as it’s conveniently located at the top of my road. However, while driving past Gants Hill, I decided to pop into Mother Hubbard’s, especially since they had a tempting offer. I’m so glad I did! The service was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the staff were welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The level of care and professionalism really stood out. As for the food, it was nothing short of amazing. My kids—who are notoriously picky eaters and usually very loyal to our local spot—were blown away. They declared it "the best fish and chips they’ve ever had," which, coming from them, speaks volumes. The batter was crispy, the fish was perfectly cooked, and the chips were golden and fluffy inside. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed not just the food but also the overall experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and it was clear that every detail had been considered to make customers feel comfortable. Decent pies. Large chips not as big of a portion as other chip shops. One portion of chips also missing from order.

The chips are great, good fish size with a special meal, batter didn't impress me or it was fried in old oil. Chicken fillets are also quite decent but they are mini, order 4+ units for a full meal.

Ordered chips a few times - it was Nothing special. Also the vinegar doesn’t taste like traditional fish and chip shop taste more like the sarsons malt vinegar.

placed a big order here last night, for grilled fish, chicken strips, regular fish and spicy fish. food was very satisfying! placed a phone order which meant food was ready on arrival. chicken was juicy and flavourful. fish was crispy and fresh.

food had a bitter taste oil clearly needs changing, chips aren't great local chippy's are so much nicer, batter is tasteless, no sauces given at all, fish usually comes with tartar sauce and some other sauce with the chips as standard, good sized fish bites, but due to the low quality of chips and lack of hygiene of oil won't be buying again.

I ordered fish and chips with sauces. The sauces which I paid for never arrived the food was disgustingly oily. Would never buy here again.

Why didn't we know about this establishment before now? They supplied the best fish & chips we've had in a long time. The menu said Large fish and chips. They actually meant it. The fish was beautifully cooked and we loved the chips. We'll be back

If I could give 6 stars I would, Fatima and Harrpriets customer service was impeccable. I was stuck on what I should order and they help me decide and made me feel very welcome. Deffo coming back soon and will recommend to everyone I know

The Fish and chips fried by ghee and batter too crispy. They only do Haddock fish . There is no traditional British fish and chips taste. Location atmosphere and decor really good. I hope they will improve the recipes and use Cod fish.

we ordered the buy one get one free deal on the fish bites and chips. Price is reasonably and the fish was good. I'm not keen on their chips, so fat and hard, doesn't absorb the vinegar or salt, just wasn't great. Ended up throwing the chips out. I love when the chips go a little soggy with the vinegar and salt, it didn't happen with these chips; and a ton of vinegar was added. Would order the fish again, just no to the chips.

We had a group of 9 Adults and Children, we ordered fish and chips, chicken strips, wings, battered sausage, fish burger, spicy chicken burger meals, all the food was really nice and everything got eaten, would definitely recommend. Lovely friendly staff too, overall a great place to eat, will be going back soon.

Just had my lunch here. I enjoyed the fish. However there are no toilet facilities. I spent over an hour here and asked the waitress if there are toilet facilities and she said yes. When I stood up she said no. I am sure there are! Then I said to her by law a restaurant has to have a toilet. Then I asked can I speak to the manager. She said he is not here. Then a gentlemen (Ashraf) sitting in one of the table said he is the owner, and said with 16 seats you don’t have to. Silly Law! He even said I can complaint to the authority, if I like! Rude! My point is I believe they have one, at least for the staff. One of the girl even suggested to go to nearby chaiiwala. If I have known there is no facilities, I would not walk in. I suggest everyone who is in this situation Not to go to Mother Hubbard’s in Gants Hill. Just want to know is it true in law? If so, then authority should look in to this.

Very clean, good portion size, lovely service and good prices. We ordered quite alot as a family. I think the best deal was fish and chips meal, £10.99. I'm unsure what the fish was but it was quite big and tasted nice. I will come again... Tables were very clean and was nice to sit in and eat. Definitely recommend if you are in the area...
