Lovely food, beautifully cooked, each and every time

Amazing! Best raspberry martinis I’ve every had, pork and duck were perfectly cooked and the bubble cake with homemade custard couldn’t have been nicer! Will be back very soon!

This is a great place to catch up with a friend, or just to enjoy some food and company. Excellent food. Will definitely try again! We ordered the signature pork shank and the confit Guinea fowl; both were very satisfying. Not too oily; not too salty; everything was just right. The sweet cabbage was also cooked expertly. For dessert we tried the hot dumpling, which is basically a warm bun with sweet jam fillings. Needless to say this idea of dumpling is quite novel to me as a Chinese, but it tastes good. I cannot wait to come back and try more items on the menu! Service: nice but chill. Perhaps because we are close to Christmas there weren’t too many customers around. Many chose to stay and chat for a while after the meal. We did so and was not pushed out (never!) and instead received very nice hospitality.

Brillante cena con amigos (eslovacos, checos e ingleses) , gracias a un servicio atento, ambiente encantador, y la comida nos dejó boquiabiertos - ingredientes frescos, incluso me hicieron una comida a pedido especial. A mis dos amigos les encantó y estamos planeando otro viaje para probar el resto de sus comidas! No puedo culpar a este lugar.

Este es un restaurante encantador. La comida era excelente y el personal muy amable. Todo estaba delicioso y muy agradable para tener una cocina que nunca habíamos comido antes. Lo más destacado fue la Fruta Eslovaca Dumpling de postre que fue increíble. Ojalá viviéramos más cerca.

A great find. The food was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. We were too full to try desserts but really fancied the traditional fruit dumplings. Service was excellent and all the other diners seemed to be as happy as we were with he food. Thoroughly recommend Moya

Fuimos como un grupo de 6 el sábado pasado, no puede faltar el lugar y la calidad de la comida es excepcional y muy buena relación calidad-precio. Entre nosotros tuvimos la caña de cerdo, goulash de ternera con albóndigas, salchicha, pescado y pato con patata gratinada y chucrut (caliente). El desierto era pastel de manzana con helado y natillas. No solo la comida fue excepcional, también saben hacer muy buenos cócteles, mi Old Fashioned fue excelente. @Moya Gracias por una noche maravillosa y espero verlos a todos de nuevo en nuestra próxima visita.

Llegamos a tiempo para la hora feliz para disfrutar de unos cócteles muy sabrosos antes de pedir nuestra comida a un camarero muy dulce. Recordó que uno de nosotros era celíaco y las opciones de comida eran claras y bien explicadas. No solo eso, la comida era deliciosa. ¡Como, realmente delicioso! Tuvimos el confite de pato con deliciosa col roja y el Segedin (goulash de cerdo y chucrut) para morir. Los precios eran muy razonables también y sin duda volvería de nuevo. Espero poder recrearme un poco en casa, pero lo dudo mucho! Vaya, vaya.

Surprised by how high quality the food and cocktails are! Loved everything - especially the devilled toast, the pork shank was done perfectly and delicious salmon too. We had two cocktails each person, really impressed with how they use fresh fruits rather than fruity syrup - do try their specials!

My favourite restaurant in all of Oxford without a doubt I wouldn't change it, the food is delicious and the service is great.

Nice quiet environment when we went (Friday 18:15). No problems with serving time. My friend had Confit Duck which he was impressed by. I had Pork Shank as the menu promised tender meat that'd fall off the bone...and it was! The flavour was amazing and the quantity was perfect. This was one of the two most impressive dishes I've ever eaten in 6 years at Oxford. For dessert we tried Slovak Fruit Dumpling and Apple Cake. Both were very nice though I recommend fruit dumpling over apple cake as the flavours are more interesting, at least to those who rarely eat fruit dumpling.

We have been in a few times before,there slovak and Czech food is excellent,the barman is very friendly and can make very well balanced and delicious cocktails,highly recommend

Wonderful food! This restaurant was such a lovely surprise and had a fantastic menu. We had the rezen (schnitzel) and the fruit dumpling (for desert). So good! Service was great and prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

I lived in the Czech Republic for a few years and this brought me right back! The food is delicious, and they also have a large cocktail menu which was nice. The waiter (manager maybe?) could (as others have said) definitely been more polite / friendlier but it didn’t ruin the evening. Highly recommend the schnitzel. My boyfriend loved his pork knuckle. I have been twice now and it is consistently very good.

We visit Oxford on regular basis - Moya is hands down the best restaurant we have dined at in Oxford! Can’t say enough good things…the mains, the drinks, the desserts, and the service all exceptional.

Everything’s delicious and I’d risk to say it’s even better than what we’ve had in Bratislava. Friendly service, hearty dishes and good prices for the quality and quantity.

Great food, amazing service, new type of Cuisine to try but from starters to dessert, all very tasty great restaurant different from anything else in Oxford

The food, particularly the segedin is always delicious. The desserts are simply amazing too. Presentation and drinks 5*. Been here many times over the years for these reasons. The waiter is set in his ways and is rude by British standards, but suggests good dishes that you might like. However, we brought friends to the restaurant and he told one of them to choose another dish because she is vegetarian and not vegan, as there is only 1 vegan dish left (the one she wanted) and it’s reserved for vegans, and she is not vegan. He said it like that. Unacceptable. Anyway, great place for truly delicious Slovakian food.

Fantastic place, cannot fault anything at all. Food was delicious, cocktails and drinks absolutely on point. The staff were very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Highly recommend this place for a delicious meal in a good atmosphere :) Especially with young children! One of my top facourite of all time places in Oxford.

We booked in advance, and we received a friendly greeting when we arrived. We were taken to our allocated table and given menus. I ordered the Halušky with mushrooms, which was absolutely delicious. So tasty, warming, and substantial. My husband really enjoyed the salmon supreme. We both also had Long Island iced teas, and benefited from the happy hour cocktail price offer. For dessert, I had Bublanina, which was delicious, and my husband had the Slovak fruit dumpling. The service was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was very clean. We were visiting Oxford, and the meal we had here was one of the highlights of our stay.

Cozy restaurant. Delicious dishes served at generous portion at reasonable prices. Their Pork shank is excellent. We had a very enjoyable evening there.

Absolutely incredible food, as well as warm friendly service. It has the intimacy and kindness of a mom-and-pop place, but is classy and high-end in its decor. Lovely atmosphere that makes it perfect both for a casual night out and for more official dinners. The portions are very generous, and the price is really a bit lower than I'd expect for the high quality and portions of food. I had the halusky with sauerkraut for my starter, confit duck for my main (which comes with gratin potatoes), and Slovak fruit pudding for dessert. I was more than stuffed by the end (I think 2 courses is enough, here), and everything tasted amazing. My water was refilled periodically without me needing to ask, and the dishes came out quickly. All in all, couldn't have asked for a better night!

First waiter was very unfriendly, and we waited about 50 mins for the food.

We were pleasantly surprised by Moya, with a rather simple but tidy atmosphere with only 1 or 2 other tables. We shared a few starters, which were great for sharing and were light enough to get us going. I ordered the confit duck for main course, and the meat was absolutely stunning, falling off the bone into a lovely sweet and salty sauce, alongside a potato gratin with a rich liquid cream. We finished with 3 desserts, full of fruit and summery flavours. The mojito I ordered was also well balanced and went down well.

Such a lovely evening. Great cocktail and amazing food. I felt properly looked after. Thank you for taking care of this lone vegetarian diner! ❤️😀

Had an amazing meal at Moya! Pork shank was out of this world and the meat fell of the bone served with tasty potato gratin which was beautiful. We had the rhubarb and custard cake which is the best dessert we’ve ever tasted. Definitely worth a visit and we hope to come back soon! 5 stars!

Fabulous dinner! The menu had so many delicious looking options that it was difficult to even choose. The sweet dumpling for pudding was wonderful!

Really nice food and excellent service. Cocktails and mocktails were really good as well. They were happy to accomodate our toddler as well, which was much appreciated.

Lovely restaurant serving comforting Central European dishes. The halusky starter was fantastic, with a strong aroma of paprika and balanced well with the sauerkraut. The pork shank was also nice, tender and flavoursome meat, and not too massive as to be intimidating to finish. The cocktails were very nice, and the service was friendly. The goulash was unfortunately quite disappointing, as the sauce was surprisingly bland, and could have done with some sour cream for contrast.

The lamb shank special was fantastic.

We've been twice now, and both times have been absolutely fantastic! The food is delicious: we both love devil's toast (both "normal" and veggie), the meat dishes have been outstanding (I've never had such tender pork before, highly recommend the pork shank), and the cocktails are lovely (and plentiful!). To top it off, the service is fantastic, and you can tell that everyone who works there cares about what they do. The first time was so good, my girlfriend chose this as the place for her birthday meal. We plan on making this our regular go-to treat, and we'd recommend it to anyone who finds themselves nearby!

Lovely restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and unusual but delicious food. Highly recommended for something a little bit different (Slovak cuisine).

Slovak cuisine is not widely represented in the UK and some ingredients can be often difficult to find, but these guys do a fantastic job at producing the most delicious traditional dishes I've ever tasted outside of my parents' kitchen. I'd highly recommend visiting! This is the only place I know of that will put Becherovka in your cocktail (Honeysuckle,thank me later).

Quick, diligent service. Vegetable and potato salad was great, not too filling but enough to whet the appetite. Made space for the duck confit, which was crispy and juicy with a superb gravy and relish to boot. Finished things off with a traditional bubble fruit cake, which was also incredible. Not to mention the cocktails, which were delicious and quite strong, even on the happy hour! Top marks across the board everyone, will absolutely come again. Ďakujem veľmi pekne!

Brilliant as every time we visit. Husband and I visited yesterday for my late birthday dinner and we loved it as always. I had Bryndzove halusky in my mind and so I ordered them and they were delicious. Lighter texture than traditional and it worked great (removed the stodginess and feeling stuffed after). I am intrigued on how this was achieved. Recipe please! I managed pudding still afterwards - yummy as always. Friendly staff and everything great. Thank you

The atmosphere is very friendly and you can't find food like this in any other restaurant in Oxford. Even if you haven't yet tried Central European food, you should give it a try.

Moya served fantastic Slovak food and the service was great. I will absolutely be returning when I am back in Oxford. An absolute must try if you are in the area.

Oh well, if I can give a 0 star if I could. 1. The attitude. The old English guy was literally saying Slovakian food is very different than Czech food when my fiancee was showing him a picture of what she wanted. In the end, because of he insisted, my fiancee didn't ordered the food she wanted. Well, my fiancee is a Czech, and she knows there is not too much difference. Has he ever heard of Czechoslovakia? And why would he even trying to correct an ACTUAL CZECH who knows the food more than him? 2. Flavour. I'm Chinese, I was seeking for a high expectation on flavours and texture. But oh god, IT HAS NO TASTE and it's far different than the original slovkian one, don't argue with me, my mother in-law is from Slovakia and she is a chef. I ordered Goulash, should be more salty as people use dumpling to dip and eat, dumpling has no flavour that's why you should make it saltier. TEXTURE wise: well, the meat, ughhh, did you marinate it or not? Beef looks like small strips, chewy like paper. Well, I sincerely suggest your chef to try and put some salt and corn flour plus egg white on the meat when marinating the meat. Then it would be soft, literally soft. 3. Portion, I really don't like the portion. Small, goulash is supposed to be served with 4 dumplings instead of 3. And the beef portion is way too small. 4. Service. No one come to ask how's the food. NO ONE. Until we pay the bill, and they saw us didn't finish the food. 5. I suppose a Slovakian restaurant at least should have some Slovakian or Czech people work in there but no. It's like you go to a Chinese restaurant and there is a Boris Johnson saying what would you like to have today. Disgrace, I'm really not happy about that! If you are English cook your own fish and chips. Don't make the food from other countries, because it will ended up as I'm typing the bad reviews. YOU ARE DESTROY THE REPUTATION OF THE FOOD FROM OTHER COUNTRY.

Moya is one of my favourite restaurants. We had a lovely meal yesterday evening - beautifully presented and very fresh. The staff are always very friendly.

Meh - quite nice as a restaurant and open during lockdown. Wish I could say how special it was - maybe it's just me. Food was OK and service was good. All the best to them.

Very nice staff who looked out for us. I liked the candle and flowers - lovely touch. I had to ask for cherry to be removed from my drink because of allergies and they did it quickly.

Darle una oportunidad.Los cócteles no son los más baratos pero puedes ver cuántos ingredientes van allí y que también se hacen uno a uno en mezcladores no listos.Feliz de mí, están ganando un 30% de descuento en cócteles (happy hour) hasta las 8 pm.Agregué solo 1 imagen porque no tengo tiempo que perder haciendo fotos cuando hay una comida tan hermosa frente a mí; )
