Muddy Boots is the perfect farm café. The staff were all friendly and helpful and my bacon and egg roll was perfect, it was hot and very nicely cooked, as was my wife’s bacon roll. My coffee was steaming hot which is just how I like it served. The café is warm and comfortable with a very interesting central log fire. One slight downside, I had to ask for a spoon when my coffee came, I then had to ask for a knife to cut my roll when that came, and my wife had to then go and ask for napkins. These are minor details just for info for the owner as overall it was a really pleasant visit.

We popped in for some lunch after visiting Santa and attending Elf School. The food was better quality than our previous visit, but service was still a bit slow and we had to ask a couple of times for our order to be taken. Once our food arrived, all was good and it tasted amazing. We had burgers and our son had pancakes, which he loved. The café is a nice cosy space to relax and watch the world go by. There are always lots of sweet treats to choose from and we got some to take-away. Thanks again, we will back soon.

We popped in for a quick snack after visiting Muddy Boots with our 6 year old son. It was a Sunday afternoon at the end of November and it was good to get out of the cold. The cafe/restaurant area is lovely and it was a cosy place to relax and unwind for a while. The food was basic, but we were starving and it did the trick! It was not too busy at that time, but it did still take some time for our food to arrive. We would pop in again if visiting with the kids again.

This is my second week in a row and it certainly will not be the last. I don't know where to start but from arriving to leaving it was fantastic We had great fun on everything on the outside and then on the inside it was just as good. We had breakfast in the restaurant the first week we came with our youngest granddaughter who is nearly 2 and it was amazing and staff were so friendly Then this weekend we had lunch with our eldest granddaughter and the place was really busy with 2 big groups entering just before us and yes we had a small wait but the staff were great got our table and drinks then took our order for food which was all great (well done cook) The wee piglet race is an experience and great fun kids had a ball as did gran lol and all the staff were great making it fun for kids. It was that good that I was looking into a season pass as we will devo be back. All staff were fantastic and very friendly and Charlotte is a credit to the job and very pleasant young woman .

So, this review centres around the cafe/food as the park and activities are fine, albeit there was a male wandering about with a cig in one hand and a tin of beer in the other (it’s meant to be a kids place). We have eaten here before, within the last year and the food was actually good then, now it’s taken a steep decline. When you see hot dog on the menu, especially for kids, you expect to receive a hot dog, the one that kids are familiar with, the ones from the cinema. Well, no, this version of a hot dog is nothing more than a burnt and I mean burnt sausage, not resembling a hot dog. It was not only us who were surprised at this frankly disgusting piece of food being served to kids, others too were shocked to find their interpretation of a hot dog shot down in flames (literally). The Veg Burgers did not fare any better, with these also bring cremated. Sending the food back was painless, a refund given and a reorder of a more simple dish, cheese and ham sandwich (surely you can’t get this wrong). Well, yes you can, cheap rubber cheese and even cheaper ham served on bread, I’ve seen better food served to seagulls. Oh and let’s discuss the wait for food, 1st order slow, 2nd order slower. It’s a shame really, as the quality of the food and service used to be so much better, that leaves me with one piece of advice - take a picnic!. Now, as I said for playing this place is great and no complaints other than some jakey wandering about a kids park with beer, unchallenged. I think the cafe could be so much more, if any management read this, I’d be happy to discuss further.

We went to Muddy Boots Cafe this morning and although the car park was very full there was plenty of space in the cafe so we had a choice of seats. It was far too hot inside as there didn't seem to be any air conditioner so we sat outside in the shade. We ordered a large coffee and tea. They were delivered to the table very quickly and we were served by Fraser who was very friendly. We were not rushed and were able to sit and chat for as long as we wanted to. We were happy with the service and would go back again in the future.

Sat outside in what could only be described as an area once a garden, now a weed bed. When soup arrived it was cold so sent it back, chicken and chorizo sandwich was small, over-toasted, and the chorizo was sausage! Salad was limp and crusty bread was minute. When soup was reheated it was delicious, but very small helping. Very poor value for money.Shop had no bread, no eggs, no home baking.

Macaroni cheese, was tasty but very watery, not saucy, runny. Needed more macaroni. The floor was filthy. Had not been swept the night before, or they had had a lot of messy people in before us. We were there at 1.30pm. The leather sofas were also covered in dust. I think there staff are too young and inexperienced. A lot of talking, laughing and dropping of plates going on. Stopped off here this morning with my wife while out for a drive. We were surprised just how busy it was, but it appeared that there was also some sort of 'do' on. Santa and his little helper were going round talking to all the little ones and giving them small presents. The Farm Shop itself has an extensive range of items and giftware for sale. Mostly unusual items, the majority of which you would not be able to purchase at standard supermarkets.I had a cherry bakewell cake, and my wife who is a coeliac, was able to have a gluten free coconut and cherry slice. Staff we spoke to were pleasant and friendly. This place has really expanded over recent years. My main gripe being, I think with the amount of people who are visiting the facilities here now, and the number of cars in the car park they really need to address the state of the access road.

Food board looked good but several tables were not cleared on arrival. Ordered 2 soup as starter with couple of mains for partner and myself plus kids meal deal for our daughterThe mains arrived before our soups. Had to ask for the soup which swiftly were placed upon our table without a little apology...meaning our baguette and ciabatta risked cooling. Not a major issue but one we felt wasnt necessaryOur little girls "toastie" was more like a sandwich. Really disappointed but she did eat it. However, the fruit stick with meal deal hadn't been served with it and did have to ask for one. When it did arrive, looked great and appealling for herMy baguette was tasty and nice accompanying salad but my girlfriends black pud ciabatta had been overly toasted (ironic given the toastie!) and she struggled to bite through. A shame as the place should be doing better. I got the feeling it probably is better than our experience but they perhaps struggled with the busy Sunday demand

Absolutely fantastic day out for the kids. We come here a few times a year when we visit family and there's always something new for the kids to do. If I lived nearby then I'd definitely invest in an annual pass. It is great because it's suitable for my daughter of 10 and 4 years old so neither of them are left out.Everything is nicely spaced out so that even when it's busy, it's not over crowded. The toilet facilities are immaculate!!! They are like hotel toilets. Certainly the best I've ever seen at this type of place unlike at Cairnie Fruit Farm. The ice-cream is a reasonable price, very tasty and not half melted before your first lick- even on a hot day. Food is served for what I'd say is a reasonable price considering the high quality of food you get. We occasionally eat there but also enjoy bringing a picnic as they have lots of large picnic tables.I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Fife. It's a real gem in the countryside. Staff are polite, welcoming and friendly. My only change would be to offer some fruit picking as that's something we love to do. However they do provide lots of fruit and veg for people to buy that they've already picked.

Visited muddy boots with two children under 4 having heard good things about it in the past. The outdoor play area is in need of maintenance; broken ride on toys, pay to play digger not operating properly, sand pit liners torn with weeds sprouting around most play areas, rubber duck slide out of order. With a bit of work, I'm sure the place would be looking great, I just can't understand why things haven't been fixed\checked for the summer holidays. The toddler bouncy pillow was great but could do with more seating around it to help adults get little shoes on and off. The indoor barn play area was disappointing as none of the vacuum ball pipes were working and one of the ball cannons was out of order. Only a few sponge balls were to be found for the cannons. Lots of kids wanted to make use of the ball pipes and baskets which look like they can be tipped when full and would be great fun. Food was good with a great selection of cakes. Lots of nice offerings in the farm shop too. This wasn't what we came for though. Overall, I don't feel the play area is great value for money in its current state. Until muddy boots play area is refurbished I will travel the extra 10-15 minutes to Active Kids in Stanley.

Went here with my two children (5+4). The entry fee was reasonable, £15 for the three of us which is cheaper than some other places we have been. The boys loved the grass sledges although my youngest was not supposed to go on as it is strictly over 5's but as it was empty I let him have a go. The go-karts were a bit big for them but the gave it a go any way, bouncy pillow always a hit. We then went on to the other side, not much really for them, a few bits and pieces but they were happy enough. Then we went into the "indoor play". The kids were happy enough but in my opinion it all needs a good clean. To be honest the whole place needs a bit of tlc. There was no zorbs which were advertised and also the train "due to change in legislation" according to the sign wasn't working and the track has just been left to become overgrown. We were told when we went in the pig race would be at three. sorry but after being there from 9.15 is I wasn't staying for! Perhaps the website could do with an update to inform people of these things so they are not disappointed? Overall though my children were happy with the experience, and we did take our dog which was good, that was one of the reasons I picked this place for a day out. We then went into the cafe for lunch. I think we got in just in time about 12.00 after we ordered the place soon filled up. I thought the price of the food was pretty steep actually, £20.20 for a kids sausage and wedges, a kids cheese toasty (don't know what the difference between a kids toasty and an adult toasty except a plastic plate) and nachos, plus three cans of juice. Sorry but I think that's expensive. The food was good though, could not fault it or the service. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Then into the shop so my children could spend their pocket money! Lovely shop, great fresh produce but again prices pretty steep. I was going to buy an ice cream for us but at 2.40 for two scoops, 1.99 for a small bag of sweets! So I gave it a miss. Overall a good place to go, my children were happy, as was the dog, the food was good and the staff were friendly. I just hope in the near future they try and tidy it up a bit and replace and repair some of the toys and play things, and update the website. I would go back but I would make sure I had food with me. Why can't businesses understand if they made the food a reasonable price then people wouldnt take their own?!

There is a large car park with plenty of parking places. We were rather surprised at the cost of entry to the children's play area. I paid over £30 for our family to get in. There was an inside area with places to climb, chutes to slide down, guns to fire soft balls etc. This was enjoyed by the children. The outside play area, however, looked a little tired and uncared for - the duck race was out of order, some equipment was half broken, and the pig race didn't happen during the four hours we were there. The go-karts are fun for older children but not suitable for these four and under. In fact there was very little for a two year old to do but they are charged £5.95 - that didn't seem right. Although it was a lovely sunny day, all the children seemed much more interested in playing inside. The shop was nice with some good produce on sale - both fresh fruit and vegetables and other good quality items. The cafe was OK but slightly disappointing. Soup, burger, sandwich was essentially the choice for adults. The children's menu seemed fine. We had a very long wait for the food to arrive. The soup was good but, in my opinion, the chicken and smoky bacon sandwich had far too much mayo. Cakes were good. We ate outside which was enjoyable although we did have to dodge frequent wasps interested in our food. In fact one should be careful disposing of rubbish since the bins have lots of wasps around them. The staff, both in the shop and in the cafe, were exceptionally nice. Given that adults, even old age pensioners, have to pay to go with the children to the play area (they have to go since children must be supervised by adults) it would be nice if there were some things that both adults and children could do together - how about crazy golf?

We took our two grandchildren here recently and though we had a great time, there are a few points that concerned us.The charge of £5.95 for each child was expensive enough but £2 each for Granny & Grandad was extortionate – this was for us to be there in a health & safety capacity as there was not a member of staff to be seen on any of the activities our grandchildren tried! There ought to have been staff on the grass sledges and the go-karts to monitor the use as once a child was on them you had to wait and wait to have a turn if they were not the “sharing is caring” type of child! There were also not enough safety helmets! They enjoyed the indoor soft play area though again no supervision by staff – our grandson was most upset when 5 or 6 older boys bullied him and we were unable to intervene! The food in the restaurant was fresh and very good though a tad overpriced, particularly the juice for kids! However, the kids enjoyed it which was the main thing!

We visited here with our [almost] two year old granddaughter. We felt that this was a little lacking in facilities for the very young who may [not unusually] be being cared for by their Grandparents. Whilst she had a good time on the very limited number of openings for her [ she bounced forever on the inflatable pillow and enjoyed the fenced off area for trike riding], they were the only things she was really able to use and, at £5.95 it wasn't cheap. What I really object to though is charging Granny & Grandad £2 each, just to fulfil a health and safety role. We thought, from an adult perspective, that things were generally a bit grubby and playworn. The indoor soft play area is a good thing but again, limited in it's use if the Auld Yins can't actually get over the threshold into the play area to " keep an eye out". Perhaps a bit more available staff help might be of benefit

The cafe is bright, airy and spacious with a feature log burning stove encircled by soft seating. The table seating can accommodate individuals, families or larger groups.Choose your numbered table, Read the menu then order and pay at the counter and the food is brought to your table. You have to repeat this process if you want more refreshments or something else to eat.As well as a printed menu, daily 'specials' are offered and are on a wall board behind the counter. We chose a filled baked potato and the prices for these ranged from£5.55 to £7.55 depending on the filling you want and is served with salad. Soft drinks in a 330ml tin cost £1.50. The food was well presented and the filling generous although the potato was slightly undercooked. After the savoury we decided on something sweet and chose an iced fairy cake at £0.99 each. All the staff working on our visit were welcoming, friendly and polite. We felt it was an ideal place to meet friends over coffee especially around the log burning stove. Breakfasts are also available up to 11:30 am.The only negative point on our visit was the uneven road up to it otherwise would have given it 5*.

Usually, if muddy boots cross my threshold, I give them my "Look" but, in this case I was crossing another's; and all we got was smiles! This is a classy Farm Shop, with a wide range of organic foods, and full freezers!I've heard tell from friends, but this was a "come-by-chance" as we were heading Elsewhere, and I'm so glad I persuaded the driver to turn left! The warmth wasn't just the smiles ( and the generous helpings of cheese samples) but the very tasty things to eat. I've never eaten Orange Curd scones, before, but they were top-notch!And, I'm going to try to recreate the recipe.Excellent coffee, a terrific ambience and the central fire (surrounded by comfy sofas) is the "place to be" (if you can get ahead of the regulars) and you're prepared to stoke the fire!I shall return!

I went there with my 16 month old daughter and my friend and her son. Tbe setting is very beautiful and the outdoor space really inviting. We went straight to the cafe for some lunch, planning to go to the play area afterwards. Unfortunately the prices of the food are totally exaggerated for what you get... and when you get to pay you find out that the minimum spend on a card is 12 quid. TWELVE QUID. They kindly direct you to the cash machine next door if you want to spend less... right... with a year old running about starving and after waiting 10 min in the queue. .. so I bought some cakes to get to 12 and sat down. The food was ok, just fine. Lovely scones though, really! After that we walked around the farm shop and my friend's son wanted some sweets. . And guess what? 12 quid minimum spend. Gosh! When questioned about this, the lady said it's better for tbe customers and people are happy to know there's a cash machine here and they come in just to withdraw money and bla bla bla... what? So we left our sweets and walked out. We went to the play area but I decided not to take my daughter because it didn't seem to offer much to toddlers. So we just went to look at the chickens and goats, fun enough for the kids. One thing I think should be addressed, is the fireplace in the cafe; it's in the middle of the room, unprotected and when I went to check the glass around it was scorching hot. I do understand that children are parents' responsibility, but I have only 2 eyes... please don't make it more difficult. Thank you.

As regular customers of the shop, we thought we would stop at the cafe for a bit of lunch today; wish we hadn't bothered because it was a waste of money and chaotic isn't the word. We couldn't find a table that wasn't dirty and piled with other people's leftovers, so we sat down thinking ours would be cleared... it wasn't. Our menu was smeared in ketchup or some sort of gunk between the pages, there was only knives on offer at the cutlery point. We both had the sausage baguette thinking it sounded really nice, but the baguette was tiny with one small burnt sausage on each half and salad which was drowned in balsamic vinigar dressing which was all you could taste. Pretty poor value for nearly £7 We also had a slice of orange chocolate cake which was completely dry and a tasteless cheese scone. For a business which sells such lovely, high quality food in it's shop this is really not what I expected at all and very disappointing. We loved the fire in the middle of the room but despite this the cafe was rather chilly.

This is primarily an outdoor play activity centre for young children, but it is much more. There are great areas for children to explore and play under supervision, and there is also a large field of laying hens, a goat and 3 pygmy goats, and they are all great fun to watch.Inside there are craft activities for the children, some I would imagine would be on selective days. However ladies there is also a quite lovely tea=room serving a nice selection of scones and cakes. There is a farm shop with some lovely products, not least Puddledub pork/meat products. We had a little outing there and all had a great time

Not bad at £16 a ticket. Fewer areas than I expected, and a couple of those were more predictable than scary. Only the 'Behind Bars' really appealed, although the attendant at the door seemed to be a bit bored and lacking any ability to get into character. Other actors made a real effort, and the maze and the woodland walk were fun. A few more areas and a but more 'atmosphere' rather than relying on tricks of light and screams would make this much better. Also a friend with a camera was 'told off' for taking photographs, yet there's nothing on the website to that effect - good practice to at least warn your paying visitors before selling them tickets. Thanks to the staff/actors who made an effort to make it an entertaining (if not very scary) evening.

These premises are divided into a comprehensive farm shop and a sizable restaurant. We visited on a weekday lunchtime and the restaurant was well supported but not full. This is an attraction for young families and the kitchen is obviously geared up to meet their needs. We ordered only a light snack, but it was fresh and tasty. Other meals being served appeared appetizing and seemed to be appreciated by customers. The farm shop had a good stock of produce, both local and from further afield, together with products for the tourist market. The compound outside with goats and chickens was a hit with young visitors.

We arrived at 1pm and stayed right till the end, the pig race was so fun. Us adults had so much fun bouncing the younger ones off the "giant pillow" boy it was so much fun. To be honest the grown ups got more out of it than the children and if we're happy so will the children be. It's great when you can take a picnic sit on the grass and chill out, a great day out and admission is very cheap considering you can spend a whole day there.

The play area has obviously been getting done up as the frames looked pretty new. Plenty scooters and trikes for the kids to play with and great that helmets are provided whilst using these. Kids loved the quad train, thought it was so much fun and giggled all the way round, the girl who ran this was great with the kids. We finished our visit watching the pig race which was hilarious, again staff who ran this were excellent! Cafe was lovely too, great homemade food that went down a storm in our group. Would definitely revisit!

Very disappointed in my visit with a 4 yr old and 7 yr old, there was not that many activities to hold their interest. The park could be doing with a spruce up and much of the equipment was in need of repair. The indoor soft play we completely avoided as it was in a run down barn and looked very shabby. For £17 for 2 adults and 2 kids I felt this was very overpriced, mostly pedal carts, jumping pillow and sand pits, charging adult entry is a joke too. One positive was the grass sledging, though this is supposed to be for over 5 yr olds but many younger children were using this - don't know why the reception staff made such a big deal of this when paying in if there is no member of staff manning this area. Smaller children may enjoy this more but I would not recommend or return here with any age group of kids, a trip to a local swing park would be more fun!

We took our 18 month old out for the day to Muddy Boots and had a great day out. We arrived at lunch time and ordered lunch, which took an incredibly long time to come, so long we almost walked out. When it arrived it was awful, dry quiche (butternut squash, kale) and my husband had pancakes with bacon which was also not very good and very small/disappointing. The cafe could definitely improve it's service and presentation/quality of food, especially for the prices being charged. HOWEVER....The rest of the park facilities were great. Fab gift shop and local produce. Great outdoor park - even though my little one is a wee bit small for most things she had a great time. Soft play, bouncy pillows, sand pits, toy cars and tractors, diggers. In fact we played so much we didn't even get around everything. So, despite the disappointing food, we will go back because the rest of the facilities are great. She loved the animals (guinea pigs and goats) and had such a good time. That's the most important thing. The rest of the attractions are for older kids and they looked loads of fun too.

Booked the previous day with a friendly enough member of staff for a group of 8 plus high chair for a Saturday lunchtime.I think we were all fairly impressed with the menu and specials board however there's a few things that really need improving on.... portion size, really needs to be more consistent, at our table we were presented with 2 large slices of asparagus quiche off the specials board & 2 rather more 'diet sized' portions! I was one of the smaller portions and wished I had the larger one as it was a tasty quiche with a nice salad on the side! I hoped to fill up on my daughters leftover kids macaroni cheese, but top marks from a one year old, she polished off the lot!! Second point is to keep on top of the tables being cleared... after our mains we ordered coffees & cakes as these were brought over we passed the waiting staff a few plates however no one thought to return to finish the job, leaving a rather cluttered messy looking table.Shop was varied with some tempting treats! Unfortunately it was a windy & miserable day so we didn't do much outside, poked our head in the soft play but was full of rowdy kids who to be honest looked too old to be in there & being quite violent with the ball pit balls, wouldn't be comfortable with my one year old there. We'll maybe come back on a warmer day when the older kids are at school.

Muddy Boots has lots of potential, friendly staff and a lovely setting BUT the restaurant on Easter Friday was bustling with families, most of them waiting a long time for their food. The order system of going up to the till point cloggs up the main walk through point of the restaurant and it means that if you're just ordering a drink and snack you'll have to wait like we did for almost 25 minutes for a tea! The impression was of a chaotic staff with no system to serve customers and their kids - and on one of the busiest weekends at this time of year. The soft play area is in an open sided freezing barn and it's badly in need of a makeover. The outisde areas need some attention too as they look and feel unloved. I can imagine in Summer it would make a good kiddie stopover for a couple of hours but in Winter I'd give it a miss.

Arranged to meet a client here as it was a handy location for another visit I was making later in the day, I had heard good reports about the café and was keen to try it out. It was a cold, sunny Winter's morning and the real bonus here is the log burner taking up a central location in the café. It has a really good breakfast, lunch and snack menu. The home baking is excellent and breakfast rolls are very good. There is a changing Specials board with Soups, Sandwiches and Main Meal items which means there is always something new to try.Service was very good, once you have a table, food is ordered at the counter and brought to your table. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The café has a free Wi-Fi which makes it ideal for when you are catching up with work. It was quiet when we arrived but got busier towards lunch time. This was a mid week visit but I can imagine it gets very busty at the Weekends and Bank Holidays etc.But sitting enjoying the coffee and the heat from the log burner made a business meeting very enjoyable. Will certainly use this as a meeting point/coffee/lunch stop again. There is also some very fine local produce available in the farm shop which is an added bonus!

I happened across this little place recently...a spur-of-the-moment visit. Wow! A great place for a family to while away a few hours. Indoor play area. Outdoor zorbing and things for the children to climb/play on. My one small criticism is that there really ought to be a bit more attention paid to the entrance to the site...and to the general air of ambience. Some of the equipment was looking decidedly 'sad'. Some small financial outlay in this respect would pay dividends, I'm sure. After all...first impressions are vital. Passing by one would not really feel enticed to enter...nothing to raise expectation levels. But, I am glad I did despite what I have just noted. I have, in fact, been back several times. The coffee shop is a lovely, airy place to while away some time with friends or family....the last twice I have visited the log fire was burning away merrily and it was so relaxing to sit on the leather couches basking in the warmth and enjoy my tea and scone! The menu is not extensive but what there is is home cooked and tasty...prices reasonable. The toilet facilities are extremely good...clean and modern and very nice. :)) There is a small shop where one can purchase fresh produce in season and also an assortment of meats and various condiments. There is chocolate...and ice cream...and a small range of books and little toys/gifts for those who like to take something home with them. MUDDY BOOTS is fast becoming a favourite with me. Well worth a visit. BUT...the owners really need to dress the place up a little more.

We could not fault the restaurant but the owners have certainly lost their enthsiasm for the children's play area. Many of the play things were broken and generally tatty, the grounds were generally uncared for. I got the impression that all their effort was going into the restaurant and shop. I am not sure we will visit again or would recommend it.

Previously it had more of a pub feel which the large bar still holds on to. Table tops are a bit more utilitarian but the menu suggests high designs which it doesn’t quite deliver. Large portion of tasty starters but over priced and slightly over cooked steak with fish and chips where the batter on one side was over and the other side slightly under.

Friday night dinner of chicken and haggis was lovely, nachos and pakora were over cooked, went for drinks on Sunday afternoon to be told no beer and no cola, seems such a disappointment as caravan park is still open for 2 weeks, no wonder there was no one in
