Mumbai Masala in Amber Valley

Walked in and our table (for 12) was set, so went to sit down. One staff member shooed us away and told us to “get back”! Once we got our poppadoms, the same member of staff came over tapped one of us on the shoulder and gestured for him to get up/move off of his seat. He then climbed onto the chair to get in the cupboard, this happened a further 3 times in less than 5 minutes all so he could reach the Wi-Fi! We should have left at this point. We were then moved tables where he took our order with “what do you want”. Food came out quick and was really good. When they came to collect the food a bowl of rice was nearly dropped on top of one of us and then they used the same persons head to rest the plates on. The rude member of staff kept leaning right over everyone to collect glasses instead of going around to get them easily. The member of staff that came to give us the towels was lovely but the same rude staff member yanked them out of his hands and shooed him away. I would not recommend going at all.

After being told our food order would be with us within the hour, 5 phone calls later we received our order 2hrs and 45 mins later. If they had said they were busy and it was going to be later than expected instead of fobbing us off with ‘drivers on his way’ when in fact the food wasnt even ready so 3 calls later and each time being told the driver had left-which obviously he hadnt….so instead of lying just be honest.

No arrival we were meet by a member of staff with poor attitude & rude. This followed by poor service waiting 45 minutes for food which was literally thrown on the table. Then 35 minutes for the bill. We will not be going again or ordering from there again.

Ordered a takeaway delivered by food hub. Excellent service, delivered as stated, all food hot and well wrapped. Delicious, we really enjoyed everything. Popadums and pickles, Mushroom biryani with rogan josh sauce, king prawn bhuna and pilau rice, rice with peas, vegetable and garlic/cheese nans. Authentic, we recommend this restaurant for a takeaway.

Went for a family meal after Christmas not even took out coats before they were asking what we wanted for starters. Service was rushed they were hovering over us snatching empty plates and glasses it was not a relaxed atmosphere as you would expect just wanted us in and out even though plenty of empty tables. Food not great either lamb was tough mixed main dishes up, wrong food to what was ordered Will not be going back!.

We felt like we were being rushed,the staff were abrupt and not a bit friendly, two of the meals they bought out were wrong,this is the 2nd time we've had a bad experience so will not be going again

A review has been long due for Mumbai Masala as I have been ordering now and again from these guys for a while. Food has been always delicious and delivered on time or if not faster which is a huge plus. Reasonably priced and you can’t ask for more. Really nice authentic flavours hence I will be ordering with them again. Really good service and keep up the good work guys 👏👏

Fantastic takeaway tonight. Quick delivery, good price. Free Popadoms and pickles. Really nice. Restaurant has always been great when we’ve visited too. The Puri starters here are always a favourite of mine.

Wow, what a find this place was. Liked it so much went back next day. Food was superb and saved loads taking our own alcholol. Service was brilliant with hardly any wait.

Fantastic food. The portion sizes are very generous. You can take your own alcohol so it cuts down on the price. Soft drinks are available. The staff are great. Highly recommend it

Delivery was 30 minutes late which is understandable on a Saturday from a great restaurant, they must be busy. What is not forgivable is the rice not being with the order, a curry needs rice. Too hungry and tired to ring and complain that it was missing, still a great curry but a little disappointed

This is my favourite place to order from, delivery is great, the food is always amazing and the portion size is fantastic. The lamb dum ghost is my ultimate comfort food.

The food was absolutely abysmal it all looked and tasted like I'd brought it from a cheap supermarket and microwaved it all. Things were cold, Things were burnt, all the chicken was rubbery. Will 100% never be ordering from this restaurant again.

Curry was inedible , lamb was as hard as leather , prawns tasted funny and chicken smelt off.

One of the items was incorrect. I ordered the Murgi masala, but instead got the fish masala. But it was still good

Order a takeaway since I didn't want to cook after working late. Scheduled my order for 11pm and it arrived a few minutes before. I was surprised at the size of the bag since I only ordered for one person! Big portions and everything was piping hot. I especially enjoyed the cheese and garlic naan. However I did find the tikka masala rather sweet. All I could taste was sweet and coconut.

Usually food is really good, but on this occasion we was sent wrong order which contained chilli, and have chilli allergy in household this was rectified efficiently

Sheek kebab rock hard, couldn't even cut or bite it. Everything cold! Such a shame as usually a nice takeaway. Will try elsewhere in future.

Outstanding - one of the best Indian restaurants we have ever visited. The food is excellent, with a very good menu to choose from. We had four different mains, each of which was delicious. The service was very good, polite, pleasant and unhurried. The prices are very reasonable, and you can take your own drinks. We had a wonderful evening - thank you, we'll be back soon.

First time trying this restaurant as our usual go to was closed. Very long waiting time. Hour and a quarter on a Tuesday. Must have been last drop off as food was luke warm at best. Both curries had a thick layer of oil on top. Jalfrezi not very spicy and a bit bland. Garlic chilli was nice though, not very spicy but tasty even though was only just warm. Chips soggy. Chicken pakora was the driest chicken I've ever had. chilli paneer nice. Shame. Disappointing given how much it costs.

Always decent food even as a takeaway garlic chilli chicken is my fave! Always fresh. Please never cut corners and go rubbish like the rest around here. Keep doing what you're doing. Xxxx

was terrible curry 🍛, I'm sorry to say, its usually been nice from here but, not this order, the lamb was tuff as leather, chicken very dry, but most importantly the curry was so salty I couldn't eat more than two mouthfuls before I had to say , 'yeah! that's enough of that!!!'..... so I don't know what went wrong with the food quality this time but its put me off ordering again that's for sure.

Ordered takeaway through Food Hub so my review is based purely on TAKEAWAY AND DELIVERY SIDE.. Food arrived on time...but stone cold. Wife binned it. Can't tell you how it tasted, so based on what we do know (Cold food supposed to be hot) it's a 1 star. I assume the 5-4 star ratings come from customers who eat in the restaurant or live no more the 2 minutes by delivery.....so in the interest of fairness the wife and I plan to eat there next week. My comparison of the food will be based on various eateries in Rusholme (Manchester) over the past 10 years and in particular "The curry cottage" If you are a lover of curry then you'll know my expectations! For now tho it's a poorly 1 star 😔

Called in for takeaway Tried a K Prawn Goan dish. It was frightening to look at it and the taste wasn’t good either. The sauce had separated and looked highly unappetising and it was. Wasn’t sure what had happened to the prawns. They were unrecognisable. We usually save half to eat the next day but we threw it away. Awful

Chicken Tikka Masala has always been a deep RED colour from here, we have ordered it many times. Today’s was ORANGE and not that nice, bit tasteless. Also chicken was rubbery, we left most of it. Really Shouldn’t alter a good recipe. Have you got a new Chef?

Good great. But delivery person told us we live too far away and should not be delivered here. Yet it stills comes up as an available option for us. A real shame.

Not the best meat or flavours. After seeing the latest reviews and ordering takeaway delivery I'm very surprised by the food we received. The meat seemed over cooked and bland, tandoori chicken was dry and over coated in tikka rub which lacked depth of flavour and tasted artificial rather than using proper spices. The sauces were tasty. Brinjal and Paneer were unpleasant and something gave us upset digestion but I'm not sure what. We eat curries of all sorts often and this is very unusual and disappointing. Maybe it was a bad day but for the cost the goods were unsatisfactory.

Just placed another order here ,food not arrived yet but just leaving a review from previous orders, the food here is honestly best I've tried , I've been jeera gurkha and a few others but this is 100% our favourite, it's cheap to, the sauces are amazing, they give you so much more chicken than any of other takeaways to, very impressed with them,definitely our go to, adding a photo of our last order

Fantastic food, good value too (if that’s possible in these inflated times). Pathia and hot meat puri are delicious. Delivery time near enough exact. About 1 hour after order. Everything was fresh and hot!! Highly recommend this restaurant.
