Musicker Cafe in Argyll & Bute

Lovely cafe with a nice atmosphere. Very friendly staff and very reasonably priced. We went there twice and they were very friendly and helpful Definitely worth a visit if you are in Rothesay. 5/5

3 men on a boat trip - I was delighted to find Musiker as good now as it was when I last visted about 8 years ago. A late lunch after a very wet morning afloat, delicious cauliflower soup and paninis. Lovely coffee - and to be routinely offered a choice of 1 or 2 shots - other cafes should follow this routine. So good that we had to return for more coffee and gorgeous fresh home-made cakes the next morning. Looking forward to my next visit

Stopped in to the cafe for a cup of tea and a cake. We had a lovely seat in the window which was great. The two ladies, sisters I believe, were so lovely, they were both so cheerful and friendly. The cakes were outstanding and all home made and fresh. I highly recommend the cafe if you are visiting Rothesay.

We highly recommend this gem of a cafe, excellent soup n scones for lunch, staff very attentive and friendly. Went back next day for cakes and lovely hot chocolates.

It's over ten years since I last visited Musiker, and I was delighted to find it fully up to expectations! A lovely warm welcome, the best cheese scones (warmed to the ideal point that the cheese started to melt), and perfect coffee. Contrary to another recent review, we were asked if we wanted one or two shots--which happens all too rarely. And it's dog friendly.

One of my favourite cafes in Scotland, a really lovely musical vibe with instruments, CD’s and books for sale, lovely staff and reasonable pricing for simple but delicious and excellently prepared dishes. Well worth a visit, just opposite the castle.

We were looking for vegan options for a late breakfast and came upon the Musicker cafe. Staff were ever so helpful and suggested loads of vegan possibilities. We were delighted with our vegan bacon and cheese toastie and the vegan haggis and cranberry toastie. Kept us going for the whole day. Coffee here is good too. I hope this place is open on our next visit and it’s a treat on a cold October day.

Fantastic vegan options some of which are GF too. Very friendly and helpful staff, even phoning to check if scones were vegan (they weren’t but plenty of cake choices 😊) and we had a superb lunch. Would recommend and will visit again. Our coffees were perfect 🤩 and it is also dog friendly… could we ask for more?

It appears the concept of a “ flat white” has not yet reached the shores of Bute. I was disappointed in Musiker to receive mine in a huge cup/mug with only one shot of coffee and about a pint of hot milk. The waiting staff was not particularly friendly and suggested if I had wanted a strong coffee I should have asked for it!! Don’t offer a flat white if you don’t know how to make one! 🤨

Fabulous busy and buzzing cafe. Best lemon drizzle cake I have ever eaten, really nice coffee and friendly happy staff. Well worth a visit.

Lots of vegan options. We had soup and panini followed by vegan cake (biggest selection I’ve seen). Wonderfully friendly service; great food and very popular - deservedly so!

This cafe has an amazing view overlooking the castle. Service was prompt and friendly and the food on offer is good quality.

Smallish cafe with very helpful and friendly staff, especially the ladies from Eastern Europe. Really good mozzarella, tomato and pesto sandwich and it was great to revisit childhood treats with dandelion and burdock. A most welcoming place.

Sailed from Tarbert to Port Bannatyne through rough and inclement weather. Took bus into Rothesay and found Musicker by chance …….. great food, lovely staff - well worth the long sail.

Popped in for lunch before getting the ferry. We both had paninis which were delicious, generous filling & side salad. I had a coconut milk hot chocolate which was really tasty. Service was great & all the women were friendly & smiley.

We eat here when on holiday in 2016, when we came back to Bute we were pleased to see it was still going strong and still serving an excellent range of vegetarian food.

Love this place, have started to come here since helmi’s became so erratic with opening hours and service. Great food, nice decor and outlook ( over the castle) good service. My one criticism is that sometimes the background music is too loud,but given the name and m.o of the place I’m probably being unreasonable 😂.

Had a lovely takeaway vegetarian sandwich and salad from this cafe. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Also have gluten free bread available. Highly recommend.

Popped in for lunch today after reading good reviews, had a superb veggie haggis and cranberry toasty, it was gorgeous much nicer in my opinion than “normal” haggis! Even more impressed when I found it was made with lentils and chick peas, two things I don’t like! Also great coffee all served with a smile from the lovely staff. Can recommend and would definitely visit again when in Rothesay.

Lovely cake and coffee, a great atmosphere and really friendly staff. We enjoyed our time at the cafe and will definitely be back next time we are in Bute. The apple and cinnamon cake was a particular favourite.

Absolutely loved this little café. Had a late lunch sitting in the window looking across at the castle. Food was delicious and the coffee (macchiato) was the nicest I've had in months. Very friendly staff to top it off. Brilliant.

My friend and I met the owners on a weekend trip and they couldn't have been nicer. We visited the cafe for lunch and the vegan/veggie options are so creative and different. Sue's cakes were delicious and we were blown away by John's hospitatlity.

We called in for a takeaway coffee, and were tempted by the homemade baking on display. We chose the gingerbread which was a generous portion and full of crystallized ginger pieces. Coffee was made to your choice of strength. Great value for money.

Had super ginger cake with preserved ginger in abundance, wonderful americano and super long Cortado, service really friendly. Spacing good and Ovid protection as good as could be. Very happy here.

This is a very welcoming cafe with great service and a delicious menu. So lovely to find somewhere that has a wide range of both gluten free and vegetarian options and my two who need this were delighted with their freshly prepared generously sized mozzarella/charred pepper and brie/mango chutney toasties with side salads. The gf brownie was also delicious. Quiche and paninis also very good. Great coffee, friendly thoughtful service and instruments, books and a Juke box to browse through as well. Our number one on Bute so far this week!

The family had a short break during this difficult time. Found this lovely place which was perfect for a lunch . Was well organised for the safety of its customers , tables well separated & staff complying to regulations. The menu was varied & suited everyone's taste . The staff were welcoming & would certainly return .

Accidentally stumbled across this fantastic little place! The staff were lovely, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The soup and sandwhich was delicious! As were the cakes and coffee. The toilets were immaculate and it was very well equipped for babies. So lovely having a look at all the instruments, juke box and musical memorabilia. And the music was fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough.

The GF/DF Soup hit the spot on a chilly blustery day. Served with GF bread and tea with soya milk. Appreciative staff who were keen to help and also to learn more about food intolerances. All round good experience enhanced by a good selection of sounds.

Amazing vegetarian and vegan food served by friendly and attentive staff. It’s great to have sausage and bacon options without having to ask if they are vegetarian. All vegetarian food is just the ‘norm’ here, no having to ask for ‘special’ veggie menu, it makes such a refreshing change.

Called late afternoon for coffee and snack before boarding ferry, unfortunately at 4:30pm too late for food but good quality tea/coffee and friendly staff, we liked the background music.

We visited Musicker two times during our visit to Rothesay. The menu was geared toward lunch with sandwiches, paninis, soups and desserts, including plenty of vegetarian options. The service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable.

Had lunch here while on holiday last week. Fantastic service and pricing. Good lunch menu of soup, sandwiches, toasties etc with range of fillings. The soup was excellent and we highly recommend the vegan haggis toastie. Coffee was excellent too and appreciate being given the choice of 'medium or strong'. The staff were friendly, welcoming and happy to answer any questions about the menu. Would recommend to anyone visiting Rothesay or the Isle of Bute.

Staff were friendly and knowledge of products. There was not a lot of space but they accommodated our pram and provided a high chair.

Every time I cycle in Beautiful Bute I lunch in this find of a cafe. The soup sandwiches and cakes are outstanding. First class service from friendly staff plus good music even better if you are of a certain age.

Lovely, friendly staff especially towards children. Very quick and prompt service. Foods on the menu were not labelled (vegan, vegetarian etc.). Vegan foods tasted below average. Some green vegetables would've made it a bit better though.

Great cafe with good selection of vegetarian and vegan sandwiches and love cakes. Coffee is the best on Bute by a mile. Strong lattes are awesome. As a conosieur of cheese and pickle toasties I have never tasted better than John's!

Worth visiting this cafe with books and CDs for sale plus a juke box. Good coffee and snacks too. Gets busy so you might need to time your visit for less popular times

What a fantastic spot to spend a really chilled out afternoon.

There were 8 of us going in for coffee and scones and the owner was fantastic. He put 2 tables together and arranged seating for us. I am disabled and he took care of my walking frame for me. Much appreciated.

We visited twice during a weekend trip. The cafe is inviting, and the staff are friendly. We had lunch including a dessert and coffee on both occassions. Our first coffee was better than that served by most coffee shops. On our second visit, we had an extra shot--but we are coffee addicts! I hope Musicker prospers as we visit the island, from time to time, so it is nice to know there is a cafe owner who appreciates and serves good food and coffee.

We visited for coffee and cake. An excellent choice of home-made cakes, served by friendly staff. The true icing on the cake (sorry!!😉) is the excellent music from the jukebox... the choice is extensive and completes a great visit to this little gem in Rothesay.

Had lunch here are seeing it's number 1 in Rothesay and was not disappointed! Fantastic sandwich options, lots of different fillings and bread types. The curried parsnip soup was delicious too. Staff are polite, friendly and attentive. Cafe has an enviable position, opposite the castle and much sunnier than cafes on the main road. Will definitely be back!

I love Musicker. I've been going there for years, for the best hot chocolate and home made cakes. The food is amazing and the staff are wonderful

Helpful staff who maintain polite service to many of the regular customers who drop in for their coffee and chat most days. Shifting chairs and tables to accommodate groups is never too much trouble.

Found this little bit of “Food Magic” on this very magical island. Delicious food, huge positions, lovely staff and.....a juke box!!! Died and gone to heaven. Will return.

I visited earlier this week with my son after a trip to Mount Stuart. It is a vegetarian venue and I can highly recommend the food. The cake selection is unkind, too much yummy choice! This venue is very good value for money with attentive friendly service. Unpretentious surroundings but busy. Just opposite the castle.

Tucked away up a side street, Musicker may not look much from the outside, but appearances can be deceptive. Step through the door and you'll be made to feel so welcome by the cheery staff and proprietor, a music aficionado (hence the name). A wonderfully restored jukebox caters for eclectic tastes in tunes; the vegetarian food is out of this world ~ and surprisingly substantial. Do try the Bumbleberry juice.

Visited with my mum,great selection of cakes,all home made,and Soup,spinach and cumin piping hot and tasty,we had a bit of a drama going on with going to our next accomodation and the cakes staff/owner were very helpful and understanding,letting us leave bags thete while we went round the town,really warm and cosy,it was a freezong cold day and to get in and get warmed up and fed was great,il be back

I went in this lovely cafe yesterday. The owner and the staffs have been very friendly, warm welcome, and lovely people.I really had a good time talking to them, they made relaxed, welcome and laugh. They have been very helpful to offer me gluten free and vegan food options. The cafe is very relaxing,very clean, and service is very quick.Music is not loud at all like in usual cafes, it is good for family and children. Food was delicious and vegan options are availables and they also have delicious vegan cake. The carrot cake is vegan and gluten free : make sure you don't miss it! I had a deliciuos parsnip soup and a soya hot chocolate. The soup was very good and big portion. the hot chocolat was creamy and very good taste: best hot choclate I've ever had. I definitly will come back to test more of their menu.

You can Go your own way OR you can feel like it's a Wonderful World while at the vegetarian Musicker cafe. Choosing songs on the jukebox is Fun, fun, fun. A welcome Like no one else. The food is Yummy, Yummy, Yummy. :D

This is a great great cafe. We had a big bowl of soup and a toasty each. They bring their own home made chili dressing out with the toasty which was an absolute treat with the strong cheddar and tomato filling I had on mine. Big on fillings, big on flavours....we will definitely go back!!

Great atmosphere and good coffee and tea. Warm welcome and friendly staff. Place was packed so clearly a favourite with local people.
