Nando's Reading - Gateway in Reading

Pointless advertising a phone number, when they just pick up the call, put the phone on the counter without saying anything and then completely ignore it till you get bored and hang up. Customer service were just as useless.

The worst nandos I have ever been to. Been twice now and both times the food has been the lowest standard nandos I have tried. The service is shocking they front of house just leave everyone waiting with no acknowledgment or curtesy. Food came within 5 min of ordering on app with wrong spice level. Honestly avoid this nandos go town centre as this is just not worth it.

Worse customer service. Entered the restaurant and waited over 15mins with no staff acknowledgement. With a service this bad I just left without eating. I couldn’t imagine how long we have to wait for the food to arrive if we stayed.

The team are pretty helpful and never had a bad meal. Only thing I would have to say is when it's busy, there is still usually only 1 till open and when 10 of you want to order, it would be nice if the other till was opened.

It is its own disadvantage, it is so busy and packed that it feels like you have no space therefore privacy to enjoy your meal. That's a positive criticism because our food was amazing but slow service...

Nice place and good food with vegetarian options

If you receive a parking ticket from G24 due to overstaying in the car park, try appealing to G24 with proof of purchase in the retail park, as Nando's will not provide any assistance.

Great staff and food came out very quick

Lovely food, but a poor faux pas has led to the poorer review. It's a bug bear of mine when restaurants serve the main course before starters have finished. Everyone I know is happy to wait a short while for you to freshly cook mains once starters have finished! Edit: went again.... They have not learnt their lesson.

Firstly kitchen is a mess food all over the floor. Got to go up so no real service :( and to top it off it's halal

Bit noisy, toilets need attention, parking issue, no one tells you that car reg number needs to be keyed in or you getting 65 quid PCN, over all ok.

Evening very well spent at Nandos. Atmosphere was buzzing with good food.

Ordered pick for a specific time. 20mins later I’m still waiting. Manager shrugs her shoulders at other customers when I complain. Go somewhere else, this isn’t the first time at this location.

Seems when using deliveroo portion sizes seems to be decreasing I have a small half box of rice which I ate in 3 spoonfuls and chicken becomes more greasy and looking less cooked everytime … it’s like they don’t care anymore . Wish I would of spent my hard earn money eleswhere this place has gone downhill

Lovely Nandos conveniently situated in a retail park, so plenty of parking available. After a 40 minute wait (yes it was a busy Sat evening) we were seated. Food arrived within 10 mins of ordering and tasted good as I would expect. Would deffo visit again if in area

Have visited many Nando’s across the UK. This is definitely the best one. Always perfect.

5 star review solely because of the customer service we received from Rob. Had an issue with my food, which he sorted out straight away. I have been before when other managers have been so unhelpful and rude, but Rob could not do enough for us. This is my favourite fast food restaurant so obviously I will score high. The chicken, chips and salad are always on point. The sauces are the best for spice lovers. I've tried a lot of the menu, and nothing disappoints. It's nandos. It was consistent.

Very busy later .but we went at 5pm & got a table 4 6 people no problem.

We recently ate at this Nandos and were told there would be a 45 minute wait for seating which we decided to wait. After 45mins the manager seated another larger party of his friends who hadn’t pre-booked (I know this because I was sat speaking to them in the seating area) who had just arrived at the restaurant rather than us which resulted in us waiting another 20 minutes. Once seated and ordered up we had to wait another 45-50 mins for our food to be served. Which usually wouldn’t be an issue but due to the waiting time for a table this all resulted in my friends and I receiving parking tickets for being in the carpark for 2hrs and 20mins.

Not much different than any other nandos. Food was good, but there was a lack of self service cutlery when we went. Staff were quick and helpful to rectify when alerted though.

Huge, well decorated restaurant that serves mostly BBQ/grilled chicken based dishes. I had heard it's always busy and my visit on Friday evening with a friend was no exception. Had to wait 25 minutes just to get a table. The place was so crowded that the queue extended to inside the restaurant and around about 6 tables... this spoilt the evening as we were being overlooked by strangers hovering around our table. Food itself was good, but the large chicken legs/breasts were not my kinda of taste ..abit dry.

Beautiful location with free parking. It isvery rare in Reading to get free parking. Lovely staffs and lovely food.

Good place to eat. Not traditional Asian restaurants. Sauces are good

A normal great experience from Nandos. Not been to this branch before. Really busy on a Saturday evening. Took about 40 minutes to secure a table but was worth the wait. Food was fresh and tasty as always.

I took my partner here for his birthday yesterday and we had such a lovely experience. I asked whether we would get any discounts as it was my partners birthday, but instead Catia offered a free chocolate cake and brought it out at the end of our meal whilst the staff sang happy birthday. Was a lovely gesture! Thanks Catia. Lovely Staff and great atmosphere.

Food was nice, but I paid 3 times as their website told me my order has failed. We needed to manually order at the counter. The server had no customer service skills at all. Otherwise okay.

Fresh, tasty and delicious! There was enough to take back home too. The sharing platter is more value for money ans just as good. Only thing to avoid is the gravy, it's tasteless and watery, avoid and stick their sauces. It can get very noisy and busy so try to avoid peak times to avoid waiting a while.

Every time we go to Nando’s they are out of chicken livers. For my family and I this menu item is one of the main reasons we go to Nando’s. The most recent trip to this Nando’s was comical: they ran out of chicken… it’s a chicken restaurant, haha! This meant that they could not even take our order and we had to keep coming back to the counter to check as they wouldn’t even come round to tell us when we could order. It did not make sense why we couldn’t at least place the order and just wait for them to prepare more chicken for the grill. Eventually the manager came out and asked why the staff were not taking orders. Half of the staff are friendly, and half of the staff are miserable and even rude. The last 3 times I have been to this Nando’s, I’ve had the runs and so too have other people from our group. Not sure if this is slightly under cooked chicken, or hygiene issues, but it’s now made me not want to go back to Nando’s. At least not to this particular one. Which is a shame because there are no other halal Nando’s near to where we live. I used to think Nando’s was nice, but to be honest it’s quite overpriced. You can get the same or better peri peri chicken at other places for much less. Okay they may not be the same sit down kind of restaurant as Nando’s, but strictly speaking on the food side of things there are cheaper yet better places. Nando’s has become very popular but I personally feel it’s gone downhill from when they first opened up in the U.K. I’ve even had chicken come to our table almost cold.

Absolutely rammed with people and a tiny entrance way and waiting area. Loud, uncomfortable and generally not well planned. Food takes a hit when it is especially busy but usually pretty good.

Service a bit slow but great food

So after the wait to get into this prestigious restaurant they had completely ran out chicken. I had to improvise and order wings which were tiny which I could have got for a quarter of the price from Peri Peri on Whitley street. It gets 2 stars. One for being open and one for being halal.

We had a great time at Nandos! The food was delicious, and Ramzi was especially nice. His friendly service made our experience even better. We'll definitely be back!

Always great service by the whole team! Polite, warm, and welcoming. Walked in and got a seat in under five minutes and ordered via the app, and we were eating in Super Quick time. The food was served hot with the great Nandos taste you love. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience in any Nandos..

As we can't book in advance, we were asked to walk-in. There was a big queue but we could sit which made it easier with kids. The staff/Manager were very nice and managed to accommodate us. They even gone over and beyond by placing 2 tables together so we can all be together.

Not a big fan of Nandos but the food has always been decent. Service is Meh and the atmosphere is often bland. But I like chicken and I like Nandos chicken

Terrible Food was left sat on pass for a considerable time to point fries were cold Staff ignored the food on the pass serving other orders Asked for refund staff member had no idea how to do it and his service was awful Duty manager (Marta) stated refund to card would be following day and would confirm with an email I’m still waiting for it and will be looking at legal action to get the refund 7/8/24 Another day passes still waiting for my refund or an email to confirm it with a formal apology 12/08/24 Still no refund or contact This is a joke No apology is good enough now a WEEK later Pull your finger out Nando’s and sort this complaint

The manager Ramzi is amazing, he is all over the place makes sure everyone is served, he made our experience superb. I highly recommend the place. Ask for Ramzi and he will make it happen.

Very nice and up to the standard food. Pittas are amazing and the chicken is fresh and flavorful. Must try and have even if you have tried Nando's anywhere else.

Had a meal here on 28/07/24 and as usual the food was fantastic. It was heaving and the staff were still absolutely spot on! Great team work and had everything running like a well oiled machine! Kudos.

Stopped for lunch with my daughter ordered half chicken with 2 sides and the chicken came out half cooked, pink skin told Manager and got fobbed of that it was supposed to look like that, totally patronising saying it was supposed to look like that, disgraceful!! One cooks with chicken all the time, you eat at other establishments and you know when a meat is not cooked!! Definately would NOT recommend this branch unless u want food poisoning.

It’s Nando’s so you get what you expect but last 3 times it’s been good but 3 times before that it was terrible so you just have to get lucky. The drinks may as well say the regular coke has no sugar because fairly sure the machine has been messed up for a year because the coke is always terrible. Overpriced as well no way 4 thighs 2 sides and a drink should be over £20 when the atmosphere is mid.

This was the size of 4 chicken thighs. The price has gone up but the thighs looked like they had been cut into half or thirds. Spoke to staff who said that's how they received it from head office so that's what you got. Been here numerous times and was really taken back by whole experience. Talk about maximising profits at detriment of customer. If you are selling 4 thighs, you should be giving 4 thighs not 4 halves/thirds of a thigh

All good, the glasses aren't that clean but I was told they are, it's where they stack them on top of each other. Other than that, can't complain really. It was busy but didn't wait long at all for our food 👍🏻

Best Nandos in the area, friendly service

I went for dinner at short notice and although it was busy I got a table quickly. I ordered using the QR code which meant I didn’t need it leave my bag. The Caesar salad was very tasty. I had the chicken and rice which was delicious and hot.

Food was very good except chicken was slightly dry, still very open and nice atmosphere 😁
