Fabulous restaurant and definitely recommend. My wife and I visited whilst visiting Leeds. We reserved a table online thinking we probably didn't need to as it was a Monday night. When we visited it was very busy which is a great sign of an excellent restaurant. The place was spotlessly clean, staff very friendly and the food amazing! We now want to return to Leeds just for this amazing restaurant!! Thank you

We went to Nawaab in Leeds after work and honestly it was such a great choice. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas, which I absolutely loved – it really added to the warm, festive vibe. The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome straight away and the manager came over to chat with me and my uncle. He didn’t just get to know us but also took the time to share the history of the restaurant which was genuinely fascinating. It made the whole experience feel really personal. We kicked things off with some papadoms and they were spot on – crunchy and served with a good variety of dips. The mango lassi was next-level refreshing, smooth and just the right amount of sweet. For mains, we had gosht, butter chicken, chapati and white rice. Everything was banging ! The gosht was so tender and packed with flavor and the butter chicken ? Hands down one of the best – creamy, rich and absolutely delicious. The patio tandoori sizzler stole the show too, full of smoky, spicy goodness. By the end, we were stuffed but already planning to come back. If you’re ever in Leeds and fancy some proper tasty Indian food with top-notch service and a festive vibe, you’ve got to check out Nawaab !! :))

Worst experience past 5 years. We used to had excellent experiences when we use Nawab for our parties of bookings but this year has the worst experience so we will not be using it again. Admit that starters ok but no check backs so we had to go toilet to wash our hands as no napkins which tried to ask and shakes heads but never delivered. Than main course for 8 people was 6 curries which 2 chicken , 2 lambs and 2 special curry ( special apparently but only 2 or 3 piece of chicken in it and eat is creamy.mushroom souse or soup) as and 3 rice. These were all for £40 per person as set menu 🤔 as when I looked menu I could double or triple that . Robbers also shocking on hospitality as no check backs or customers service. Not sure they change the management or something but they are definitely wrong direction. Hated it and I apologise for these comments because I'm in hospitality business but people need to know how was my experience which felt robbed and disappointed

Booked on the set menu for 8 people. Mixed starters and 3 different curries in 6 servings in total no where near enough cost us £40 each plus £12.5 for 2 beers. Absolute rip off .. no sweet or nutting when asked. Disgrace.. never go

I had the pleasure of dining at Nawaab, and once again, they delivered an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality was evident, with Israar, Sheikh, and (if I recall correctly) Sam serving us with such genuine smiles and professionalism. Their dedication and attention to detail were truly remarkable, ensuring our meal was flawless from start to finish. They regularly checked in, making sure everything was to our liking and that we felt well taken care of. Their friendliness and attentiveness added a personal touch that elevated the entire evening. As for the food, what can I say? Nawaab never disappoints. I began with their signature Mango Lassi, a perfectly chilled, refreshingly sweet delight, paired with crispy popadoms and four irresistible chutneys, each bursting with unique flavours. The Tandoori Mixed Grill was an absolute highlight, delivering smoky, succulent, and exquisitely spiced perfection. Complementing this feast were the freshly made tandoori rotis, so soft and warm. I ordered things along with bindi bhaji, too. It’s not just the delicious food but the incredible team at Nawaab that keeps me coming back. Thanks to the exceptional service from Israar, Sheikh, and Sam, this dining experience was as memorable as ever. I can’t wait to return for another outstanding meal!

Hands down one of the best curries I've had (the rest of the group were raving about theirs too). Impeccable service from the friendly staff, amazing food (they happily made us a garlic chilli cheese naan even though it wasn't on the menu - try one, it's the king of naan breads!) and a decent price. We didn't have starters but the mains (especially the lamb Balti and chicken tikka Pathia) were 10/10. Highly recommended

The food here was very disappointing. Poorly presented. Lacking in any depth in flavour. The rice was stodgy, the bread was not cooked & tasted like raw dough. We had prawn on puri to start & the puri wasn’t cooked either. We did send the naan back but the replacement wasn’t much better. I had one of the special chicken dishes, which was in no way special. My husbands dish had nothing about it either. The paneer tikka was burnt. Maybe it was an off day for them, but we won’t risk it again. £70 not very well spent!

The best food in the world! No exaggeration. I have just come back from a trip around Europe but I really missed this restaurant whilst I was away. Nothing compares to this. Beautiful food And very reasonably priced. If you can handle slightly spicy, I would strongly recommend you ask for your curry to be made in a traditional authentic style. Ask for ‘desi style’ or ‘apna style’ to ensure this. My favourite dishes are lamb karahi and Lahori charga (chicken dish). I have been coming to this restaurant for several years now and I have NEVER had a bad meal. Staff are so friendly and really look after you. Nothing is out of their way. I regret only leaving a review just now. I would completely disregard any negative reviews. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family and I have regularly introduced them to this place. My parents and best friends are now regulars. I sincerely miss this food when I am away from Leeds.

Walked in and greeted staff member, the lady behind bar looked me up and down and turnt away. I asked the gentleman for a takeaway menu ( by the lady, I had already decided this was not going to be where i would be eating) and was told they are more of a sit in restaurant - Fair enough BUT he wasnt the friendliest, infact quite cocky. Maybe the photos of famous people coming there a good while back makes him assume he is a cut above the rest and thinks he does not need to try anymore and he has made it. If so, he should be able to refurb this dated restaurant. Reading other reviews, I am not the only one and it feels like unless you have a certain look, your not welcome or good enough! Walking coming back around an hour or so later - Now assuming he is the owner, he parked the 4 X 4 he was driving in front of the restaurant which is on a main road and double yellow lines causing chaos and congestion for other road uses while he stood outside smoking of all things ( and of all things to do at a place to eat). Also, quite inconsiderate to the residents living above!

I was wanting to try this restaurant. Just as an aside, I’m 66 year old woman alone, dressed modestly ( if it matters). I was refused service at the front because “ they don’t have a table for one” and “ we don’t do take out”. The Maitre D was rude and aggressive. I shot him a bird and left. A young well dressed man followed me out and asked if I could afford dinner, and invited me to join them.. I said of course, but his mates were uneasy with the situation so I thanked them for their hospitality. The M D said he didn’t care what I posted. Also before I went there I asked two taxi drivers, both East Asian, if they recommended. They both said no as “ they aren’t authentic “. So, there is no rating lower than 1 Star. Go if you want to be treated rudely for no reason.

Quick, friendly and efficient service, and great food at a fair price: what I'd call a traditional curry. I'm glad we ate here, and I'll be back. My son and I were having a drink in The Scarborough and intending to go to another place, which I'm not that keen on. I was racking my brains for curry restaurants and couldn't think of any: Leeds has changed so much and the restaurants which I think of as "traditional" seem to have gone. Then I remembered Nawaab, and the great meals I'd had there in the past. Convenient if you're in the City Square area. We turned up at around half six without a reservation. There were quite a few customers in but we were seated within five minutes, and served quickly. The food was great - just as I'd remembered it. It's what I consider to be traditional English/Asian curry. I don't have a massive appetite, so I never eat starters: I had a chicken dansak with a plain naan. I enjoyed every mouthful. My son had a chicken makhani and said it was better than the other place we were going to go to (nothing wrong with that place, btw: it's rightly popular but I'm just not that keen on it.) I first came to Leeds as an 18-year old almost 40 years ago and, of course, it's changed so much since then. One thing I've noticed is that, now, people eat in restaurants to be 'seen'. Not that the food's bad - I'm sure it's great - but that's just how it seems to be. Nawaab's not like that: you're there for the food and the service. It's a good few years since I've eaten there, but I'm delighted to say it hasn't really changed. As I said at the top, great food, great service. If you're in that part of town and fancy a curry, go to Nawaab. Well done, guys, and keep it up. See you soon!

Nawaab did definitely not disappoint, easily the best quality and most authentic Desi / Apna style food I’ve had outside of Bradford. I asked for a Chicken Karahi with more heat and they delivered perfectly, but the big thing was just how fresh every item we ordered tasted, excellent tandoori roti too! Can't comment on the food, as never got to eat any, but the service from the I assume 'manger' was disgusting. We couldn't find anywhere to eat on Saturday night, and then my daughter found this place, and rang ahead and asked if they still had tables available. She was told 10 minutes, which was ideal. It was busy when we got there, as expected, so we waited in the foyer, for a table, no problem. The 'manager' then came to us, with menu's he had picked up from the bar, and asked us to follow him. I explained my daughter had just nipped to the toilet, and he went in to a rage, threw the menu's back where he had taken them from, and said 'do you want me to seat you or not' I said 'not' in no uncertain terms I appreciate it was Saturday night, around 10 o'clock, but if that's your attitude, you are in the wrong job. Very little to write to be honest, as the title says it all I can’t find fault with the food or the price One thing to comment on, and a bit weird I know especially after all the amazing cooked food, the the pickles tray, which was surprisingly memorable 🤣 Me and the wife loved the place and when we visit Leeds again it will be on the hit list

A truly excellent Indian restaurant in a great location, good portion sizes, plenty of spice if that's what you're after and stellar service.

Walked in on a Friday night just after 19:00. Plenty of empty tables, but wouldn't let us sit

A good curry restaurant, both in terms of food and atmosphere, and it provided a good weekday evening meal. Some of the staff did come across a little blunt, but on the whole the service was brilliant and very welcoming. The pickles with the popadoms were a little watery to my taste and none seemed to be spicy, but tasty all the same. We were in a large group but the service of both starters and mains was fast. Upon serving the main dishes each one was clearly announced which often isn’t the case when in a group and it helped the size of the table. Portion sizes were large, spice levels were just right and the filled naans had a good amount of filling. The menu was large and extensive with a big selection of both traditional dishes as well as an extensive range of ‘specials’. The atmosphere was spot on, with the place being full but not overly noisy. I’d definitely return.

We had an amazing dinner with friends. The staff were knowledgable, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, especially the king prawns, which were flavoured perfectly as I asked for just a bit of chilli. We will definitely revisit.

The experience I had on Friday 1st of December 2023 was quite frankly disappointing to say the least & what I would call prejudice against Single diners. Having dined in this restaurant many many times over the years and supported the restaurant through the lean times of the Covid restrictions on going out, I feel I must write this in support of many single travellers and single people (I am happily Married and was out for a meal on my own as my wife was out with friends). I entered the restaurant at just after 6pm on the 01/12/2023 to see it was fairly busy for such an early time on a Friday, there were people in the que in front of me been advised to wait at the Bar while their table was been prepared (Half empty restaurant empty tables in full view , a couple of big parties in , plus a few other diners), then I was approached and to be fair was asked for how many diners, and when advised 1 diner it was then I was dismissed fairly sharply - to which the reply was - We don't do tables for one, must be two or more only, sorry goodbye and the door was opened for me. Based on that experience I can only say if you are a single diner wanting Indian cuisine, there are plenty of other restaurants in the Leeds Town Centre vicinity that would welcome you - don't go there, you will not be welcome. I am sorry to say that in my opinion this restaurant cares more about the amount of revenue it can generate than the customer or customers who provide that revenue, be it in either a single visit or multiple visits over multiple years of support, which I may add has now ended as a result of this "service".

Just heading home after an excellent curry. We called in on a Saturday evening in December at 16.45 and asked to book a table for 4 at 18.45. We thought we'd have no chance as we'd tried to book 'on the hoof' in the past and also tried to book in advance for Christmas meal in a couple of weeks but had been knocked back due to the restaurant being full. I didn't have much hope, but this time we were lucky!! Everything was spot on. Service great, orders taken quickly, hot plates and food spot on. Starters plentiful and mains perfectly spiced. All agreed it was the best curry we've had for a long time. We've eaten here a few times in the past and always been very happy with food and service. Very pleased we could get in at short notice and will definitely return. Thanks to all for an excellent meal.

This place was for many years a Leeds institution. However, it's changed a lot. It no longer has a licence and part of it is called Dukes selling doughnuts to kids. It's curries are still very good.
