Cod and chips and haddock and chips, both outstanding! Been here many times and always been great, this trip was exceptional!

For two fish and chip meals x 2 £13 50 x 2 peas £3.50 and the smallest pot of tea for two you could ever imagine total cost £43.00

We nearly didn't call here as the last few reviews weren't good but so pleased we did as we had a lovely lunch. Hubby had chicken escalope and I had the light lunch...fish, chips, mushy peas, bread & butter and included a cup of tea. The window seats have a great view of Bamburgh Castle. Really enjoyable visit.

Such a lovely restaurant with a beautiful ambiance! The staff were fantastic – friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The food was delicious overall. The chips were especially great, though the batter on the main dish didn’t quite hit the mark for me personally. That said, I’d still recommend this spot for a great dining experience!"

It's a really warm welcome here. Staff are both friendly and professional 👌. Went for the lite bite fish tea, which was lovely and still a large portion. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Bought several take away portions which turned out to be very disappointing. Overcooked stringy and dry fish with pale limp chips! How hard can it be to cook one thing properly? And it certainly isn't cheap any more.

A nice place to visit after a beautiful walk around Seahouses. Perhaps a little expensive but worth it and quite fast service.

This is the one in Seahouses for fresh fish, good pies, mushy peas and chips. Is it Anstruther? No but it's very good.

Slightly disappointing fish and chips, not what I’d normally expect from a place so close to the coast. Cost was too much too, for what is a cafe style dining option.

Stopped here for a fish and chip lunch. There were 2 places to queue, one for dining in and one for take away. We decided to take away as shorter wait. We ordered an adults fish and chips, a kids fish and chips, an adults battered sausage and chips and 2 cans of pop-£30!!! WOWZER! Then waited in a different queue for our food to come-very strange. Staff were nice, it was okay, nothing special, your average fish and chips.

The portions are HUGE! I got the children’s size was and it was big enough! Friendly and fast service! Best fish and chips I’ve had in the UK

Stopped for fish and chips take away, very poor , small portion given the inflated price, and quality extremely poor. I remember having fish and chips here several years ago and it was amazing, unfortunately the standards have dropped immensely

Pretty disappointing overall. Got to say, the staff were cheerful and helpful but the food was little more than average We got one cod and chips, one haddock and chips and both were ordinary, pretty bland. However, the charges were pretty high - way too high for the quality of food on offer. I think it's safe to say that we're unlikely to be back

The fish used to be good but these people have no idea how to make batter. It's quite disgusting. I had a haddock. The fish was utterly tasteless (was it haddock?) and the 'batter' was like something you'd get in a fried chicken/kebab shop.

Excellent fish and chips combined with lovely local staff. Even better to walk it off on the beach afterwards.

Had cod and chips with curry sauce, eat in. Fish and batter was beautifully cooked. Fish flaky, batter crispy. Chips big and chunky. Curry sauce really tasty. Really good. 🤤

Delicious fish & chips. We came here on our last trip to Seahouses 3 years ago and returned for another excellent meal. Car parkbon opposite side of road, free after 6pm and first journey free, you need to get a ticket for your free hour, just doesn't cost anything. I got the smaller portion which included b&b, peas & pot of tea, very good value and plenty for me. Excellent quality, served piping hot & with a smile. 😊 xxx Ps maybe move the menu where the table is in the window as we sat there and it felt like people were staring at us eating, maybe put it nearer the door.

Had fish and chips and mushy peas here on 29/07/24 It has been awhile since i had a good plate of fish and chips I wasnt disappointed great food and the frothy coffee was excellent. Brilliant service we were seated and served very quickly Definitely highly recommended The batter on my fish was thin and crispy just how i like it

My wife and I called in for fish and chips after a walked along the beach from Bamburgh. There wasn't a long queue as the kids had gone back to school, so we got a seat pretty much straight away. The service was friendly fast and efficient. As stated we ordered cod and chips with extra bread. The food was lovely, the fish was beautifully batterd batterd the chips were cooked lovely and crisp not soggy and greasy like some chip shop chips. However I noticed that we did not receive as many chips as other patrons who seemed to receive considerable more than us. I can only assume that they were running out of chips and where in the process of making a fresh batch. All in all it was a lovely meal. Well worth a visit ( watch out for small chip portions).

Convenient location, in competition with chippy restaurant across the roundabout, prices to sit in are around +£5 compared to takeaway. Fish tasted great. Server confirmed the fish cannot be caught out of Seahouses due to a restriction but are caught out of North Shields, so not too far away. Friendly lady behind the till, vegan options available too. Enjoy! :)

I would recommend this...we sat in for fish and chips, mushy peas and a cup of tea. Service was excellent. Very attentive and prompt. Food was smashing. Delicious indeed.

Good value and high standard meals. Generous portions, lots of choice for children. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very popular, always busy but plenty of space and well organised.

The fish was one of the best I've ever had. I'd certainly return if ever I fancied fish and chips again. Only lost 1 star for service as they put mushy peas on a dish my wife didn't want and they took a while to fetch the bill after we'd asked.

Fantastic chip shop with a few vegan options available and reasonably priced. I had the 'Fish less' fillets and chips. Surprised to get two fillets. Not huge fillets but great value and very tasty. They also had battered vegan sausage and no-chicken strips

£12.95 for a bit of fish with no chips is a bit expensive

We arrived in Seahouses after a long drive. Walked into the village starving hungry and stumbled across Neptune's. We had a great table, food was good, staff very friendly, good range of food and prices

Staff friendly and helpful. We had 2 cod a mushy peas and a chips. Pretty sure it wasn’t cod, batter ok and mushy peas tasteless. Underwhelming.

The chips were average at best. The coffee was awful. Eating the fish was like chewing on a side of beef. Service was ok, a long way from friendly but not offensive. We'll pick a different chippy next time we're in the area.

Not very often do I give somewhere 5 stars, but I loved it, I think it is maybe the third time I have been there. The service was exceptional, the diet coke was lovely and the haddock was amazing. The chips weren't too bad either. A fantastic end to a just wonderful walk. Not only that, but walking into Seahouses from the South from Beadnell means as I walk past the harbour, I get to see one of my favourite views 3 miles north towards Bamburgh Castle and about 9 miles away Lindisfarne or (Holy Island). The view of Bamburgh Castle was so clear, truly wonderful. A great big thank you to everyone at the Neptune fish 🐟 and chip🍟 shop.

Food was decent portion size of chips and onion rings, fish and chips, veggie burger and mozarella pizza balls. Was good to know as we had meat, vege, and vegan the vegetarian and vegan were cooked apart from the other food. Veggie burger was odd. Chips are 4.50, veggie burger and chips 14.00 we were told was vegetable not fake meat but turned out was a single Quorn fillet in a brioche bun alone without any sauce, salad or anything else on it. Seemed bit steep 9.50 for a quorn fillet! The large fish and chips was only 2.00 more than that. Overall spent nearly 60.00 for 4 of us.

Serving a beautiful fish and chips tea, with mushy peas, pot of tea and bread and butter. Very good service, reasonable prices in a pleasant restaurant. Would very much recommend if your visiting Bamburgh or Sea Houses.

It was probably the driest fish we've ever had, we won't return.

Clearly you have a choice of restaurants and take away for your chip fix at this location. We chose Neptune this time We have a family 6-65 and we are pretty fussy about what we eat. Let’s be honest, the food is not cheap, but a lot of the time you do get what you pay for. £3.50 / portion was what chips cost They were excellent, they were tasty, freshly made and hot. The curry was mild enough to be enjoyed by all. Overall a very enjoyable lunch. Could do with some outdoor seating is the main point for improvement!

Fish and chips were absolutely fine, but don't order anything else from the menu. Cheeseburger was very disappointing. We suspect from the microwave, cold as a stone after a few minutes.

We went in just about time as it started to rain and we were greeted by a lovely lady. Don’t know her name but she was lovely and took our orders and asked us about our days. She was a very happy person and it cheered us up having such an enthusiastic young lady working. The food was amazing and the prices were quite good too. For such a beautiful view you can see bamburgh castle if you sit in the right spot at the back in the booth next to the window.

We stopped by for lunch after our boat trip around the Farne Islands. The sea air certainly had our appetites up so after a quick google on the 'best' in Seahouses we decided to try Neptune Fish restaurant. Two entrances one for eating in, a good sign was the place was packed, however we opted for take away to watch over the sea. The ordering system works well, line up to the left, then join the line to the right to collect, it's all taken in order and the system works well and goes quickly (unless you are behind a family who don't know who wants salt and who wants vinegar. All in all good value for money. It was about £12 for a cod and chips together, which we thought was good value, x2 of those plus x2 regular drinks and some sauces and we paid £30 overall. We took our chippie lunch around to the benches over looking the harbour near the front. Let's start with the fish, a perfect portion size, not too big and not too small. The batter had incredible flavour with a nice crispiness. No eating with forks here, it was a hands on type of job. The chips were huge and chunky with a few nice crispy ones too and everything was piping hot from start to finish. If I wasn't so full I'd have had more fish.

Take away cod and chips was a massive let down, the cod was more of an off white colour suspect it was frozen fish, won’t be back better places near by.

Excellent fish and chips.they offer take out or dine in and we opted for the later.It was very busy but managed to get a table and there was a queue for the takeaway aswell.ordered the haddock and chips with peas and couldn't fault it.The chips were excellent and a good bit of fish with crispy batter was superb aswell..would definitely go back here no problem

Finally a fish and chips shop with banging veggie options. Very convincing. Delicious and staff are friendly and helpful. Sorry the photos aren't of the food as we first received it. My husband and I shared the chicken/battered sausages.

Paid for x1 bag of chips , then queued 20mins whilst people in front waited for fish to be cooked! Nice chips , observed the young lad serving whist waiting he was doing an excellent job. Neptunes need to review their procedures, if hadn’t paid wouldn’t of waited 20 mins for x1 bag of chips!

Take away large cod and chips was awful. Thin dry cod? with poor chips. Honestly didn't think it was cod. They weren't very good when we tried the fish n chip shop across the road last visit either. Turns out the same owner has both shops. Will definitely not be going back to either again.

Called in with my granddaughter at about 11.40 today 26th July. Thought £12.50 was a bit extortionate for cod and chips, but hey we were on a day out. We waited 10 minutes for the fish, never mind thought I they've just opened up, the fish will be fresh anyway. Off we went down to the harbour, started eating, and I can only describe the fish as rancid. It was dry and tasteless, the battery snapped off in huge chunks. It was obviously reheated from yesterday. I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of going back and complaining. I've used Neptune a few times over the years, never again. This is appalling treatment of customers - serving leftover food as fresh.

Really disappointed. Been here a number of times years ago so was super looking forward to taking my girlfriend here. Amazing service, quick with food but bland doesn't even cover it...tasteless chips and battered ok on fish. Mushy peas pretty good and a cracking pot of tea. Won't be back again.

Got the 'light bite' fish, chips, bread and butter and tea for about 13 quid a head, which is fine. Not the best I've had but certainly not the worst. Chips too thick. Staff good, loos clean.

Neptune's is a lovely sit down restaurant with a takeaway available. The restaurant was very clean. Menu choices were excellent with a good mix of the traditional fish and chips options, vegetarian and vegan variation and non-fish pie options. I opted for the "light bite" cod and chips, which came with mushy peas, a slice of bread and butter and a pot of tea (or coffee) for a very reasonable £12. It was a substantial plate! Fish was cooked slightly over for my taste, so whilst there was gorgeous crispy batter, the fish inside was a touch dry. However I cannot fault the chips or peas. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Absolutely worth stopping in for some food.

I don't like fish. For me, fish can be in an aquarium and not on a plate. My wife talked me into eating a fish meal here. And this is where it started: the food was delicious. Extremely nice service. The dishes were served quickly and aesthetically. Affordable prices. If I'm in the area I'll definitely use this place again. Thank you to the staff. I recommend the place.

Friendly staff but food was very much average and had much better chips elsewhere in the area, the wife ordered a lite bite fish and chips and my normal size portion I got was the same size but clearly more expensive, when I mentioned this to the old guy serving he just smiled and laughed.... We will be trying the other restraunts on our next visit

This is the worst fish and chips I've ever had. The fish was completely dry and the texture was very tough. The chips were very soft, and the price was higher than other places.

Service is Great but food is just ok, fishcake was nothing like what you get in Amble or Whitby, it's so thin, they give you 2. Nothing Special at all, go to Amble..

I mentioned it on the way out and the manageress knocked it off the bill which was nice of her. You gotta serve a quality cuppa with f & C's. Nice staff.

It is "the law" that one must have fish and chips after a trip across to the Farne Islands, and as usual the Neptune served us delicious Light Bite: battered cod, chips and mushy peas with bread n butter and a cup of tea. Very good value, freshly prepared and very, very tasty.

It was really nice. The restaurant was quite busy, so I was with family and friends & we all enjoyed our meals. We paid for our meal separately, which was easier for everyone.

Awful meal today. Not been to Seahorses for couple of years, fish and chips use to be beautiful from this fish shop. £21.00 meal cost to go straight in the bin. The chips tasted mega dry and fatty. The sausage was like eating a lump of lard. The breadbun was dry. The only decent thing was the lady serving who was really polite and frirndly.

Beautiful whale and chips. The cod and haddock were huge. Added bonus they do the most amazing gluten free batter. The price looks quite high but when compared with other restaurants around its very comparable. They have a sister restaurant across the road which is dog friendly. Staff are very attentive, efficient and very polite. Amazing experience for us would highly recommend

Everything excellent except the staff spraying the table next to us with cleaning fluid which resulted in our food getting a misting. A little common sense maybe. It wasn't that busy they couldn't wait til we'd finished.

Came to seahouses on the 11th June 2024 with my family. After seeing how busy Neptune was we had to try the fish and chips. The portion size was absolutely amazing, the food was outstanding, the atmosphere was fantastic and always service with a smile.

Service was very good and friendly. We were seated straight away. Alas the fish and chips tasted, and dripped with old oil. The prices are a bit sporting too. Sausage chips and beans, a Haddock and two diet cokes £30:00!!! There are other chip shops in Seahouses more worthy of your hard earned.

Got haddock and chips very thin fillet of fish made to look bigger with masses of batter .Chips a bit scrappy and hard , certainly not like it used to be .Very disappointing lunch

The fish was all batter, the chips had a load of eyes in them ,they where also not fried enough. The food was also barley warm. It was like a cattle market,they were just bringing you in and could not wait to get you out. The pots of tea was so small not enough for a second cup. The toilets was also tiny for the men,only one toilet and one urinal. We have used this place a number of times and never found it like this before. Will definitely not go back.
