Nova in Wirral

As always, the food is spectacular, service wonderful. We came for a very speedy lunch because my husband had to get back for a work meeting but they accommodated us perfectly and the food was delicious. We had chicken liver parfait to start then the beef cheek. Delicious, and superbly presented. And the beef cheek melted in the mouth! We also received a lovely amuse bouche of vegetarian haggis and some lovely homemade bread and oil & balsamic, yummy. Didn’t want the meal to end! Thank you again for a wonderful lunch date.

Just amazing 👏 If you have not been to Nova, the best restaurant in Wirral, then you are missing out. Michelin worthy food, served by attentive and pleasant staff, in a lovely ambience. Wine pairing events even more special. I was there on Thursday and the food and wine was sublime, thanks Moyo.

This restaurant truly deserves a visit. The food and service are consistently wonderful, which makes each experience special. The staff always greet you with warmth and friendliness, and the menu is a delightful journey of flavors. Every dish is bursting with taste, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience.

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The food, service and ambience was superb. All the food is prepared with such care and thought. It all looked so beautiful. James was very knowledgeable when it came to choosing the wine. We took his advice and he was quite right!

Was very lucky to be taken there by friends! This was our second visit, but first to the “new” location. The restaurant decor is stunning and the acoustics of the space has been drastically improved. This space used to host Pizza Express and was very echoey! Anyways, the food was spectacular! I selected the Nova Breakfast to start. It was a mini breakfast, but packed a big punch on the taste front. Exceptional! I then had venison! Perfectly cooked and very tasty! For dessert I had crème caramel. Just excellent. Portion sizes were perfect in the sense that after three courses you felt replete! All in all, an amazing experience!

We wanted to book somewhere a bit special to celebrate my Mum’s birthday, and we weren’t disappointed. The food, service and decor were all fabulous and the canapés and petit fours a lovely touch. We chose from the lunch menu which had a good selection for our various dietary requirements. Every course was beautifully presented and the lady serving us was polite and friendly. The only reason for the slightly lacking atmosphere was that we were the only diners in the entire restaurant, but it was an extremely wet Wednesday afternoon! Thank you 😊

Went for our wedding anniversary 6/7/24 Food was outstanding, people more knowledgeable than me say its the sauces that separate great chefs - the sauces at nova really are sublime Fine dining and portions sometimes don't go hand in hand - not at Nova A La Carte the portions are perfect - fully satisfied The service & ambience is top class With all this in mind I have to say I consider it excellent value for money So good for a special occasion Highly recommended

If you are looking to book, don’t hesitate, this place is excellent. We just had another fabulous experience at Nova, this time for our wedding anniversary. Jana is always friendly, welcoming and perfectly attentive and makes us feel part of Nova when we dine there. The food Moyo prepares for us is always cooked to perfection, tastes amazing and looks beautiful too. We only wish we could come more often! We had the lunch menu which is a selection off of the a la carte menu and at such great price for top quality food and presentation. All of it was tasty; this time the Ox Cheek was our favourite, full of flavour and melted in the mouth!

Wow!!! Nova!!!! James and his staff from the moment we stepped in the door were attentive and welcoming. The food is another level. Not only ordering from the menu all the bread, amuse bouche, petite fours are incredible. Best duck and steak ever eaten. This restaurant is incredible fine dining at its best

Having lived away for years, dining regularly in superb restaurants in Hale, Altrincham & surrounding areas, we are now moving back to the Wirral and exploring the restaurant scene. Heswall is known as “the place to eat”, but Nova is on another level. From the subtle classy decor and the warm professional welcome from James, we knew this place was special before the food arrived. The set menu was very reasonable and the choices were great. The food itself is worthy of Michelin stars, and the presentation made it almost too good to eat. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, fresh baked bread & petit fours were just the icing on the cake. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and will return as soon as possible.

First time having a meal here, absolutely 1st class food & service, highly recommended

Our latest visit was on May 1st for a wine pairing night. There was also a representative from the wine supplier company, who gave interesting little talks before each course about the wine we were about to drink. He also came round to chat to people at our tables as he offered more. That was welcome entertainment and often created another link to the people on other tables. The food was very interesting too, in a very tasty way. There is a one way little road outside with limited amount of parking but that's a handy place for taxis to drop you off. We parked in a public car park and walked a short distance to Nova.

WOW! What can we say? Absolutely stunning from start to finish. Amazing service, quality food and lovely drinks. Really glad we gave this a try and will be back again.

We went as 2 couples on a Thursday evening enjoying the early doors menu. We were given a complimentary amuse-bouche. The food was well presented. Don't expect large pub size portions. We had the trio of pork and the asparagus with okra as starters and the market fish dish as main which were good. I liked the look of the chuck steak which my friend had. For desert I had passion fruit Panna cotta which was OK. The plantain ice cream looked good and a friend had had the whipped mascarpone on a previous visit which was apparently good. There is no dedicated parking so you need to find local street parking.

Absolutely beautiful food and 1st class service

Went for lunch today with a colleague. The food was delicious, absolutely impeccable. The service was excellent, very professional and attentive. It was £19 for two course and £24 for three, so superb value for money. Can highly recommend.

Lovely place for a special occasion meal

We've never eaten Sunday Lunch here before, our visits being evening affairs. Good choice on the menu and great service. As always, the food was well prepared and presented.

We went here on 17.2.24 for my mother in-laws birthday we had booked for afternoon tea there was 5 of us and because my mother in-law is not a big eater we ordered afternoon tea for 3 thinking we would get 3 individual teas but we only got 1 with enough for 3 people ?Also when we were seated and ordered teas & coffees half was served then the girl went off to serve a customer who walked in to buy vouchers so we had coffee going cold no milk or sugar. When we got the food there was three of every thing between the five of us !! the scones were hard sandwiches not the freshest so disappointed. Were we misunderstood when we booked but not an excuse for bad service and poor food.

If fine dining is your thing, this is a restaurant not to be missed. Menu is exciting, service and ambience is great and we need to support this industry. The love and passion that goes into the cooking deserves our loyalty. This is definitely worth a visit and is the best restaurant in Heswall that’s for sure. On a par with Roski, Manifest, Art School, but right on our own doorstep.

Nova is always excellent. We have been visiting for years. It’s our go to favourite local restaurant. Cocktails and wine are excellent too. Service is superb. We even went once with our toddler and they were amazing with him. We love it! Can’t wait to come back soon.

In an ocean of mediocre gastro pub food this oasis of quality food, wine and service and good value pricing is a gem. James and his well trained team deliver the product of a passionate and talented kitchen brigade.

In an ocean of bland, formulaic Gastro pubs serving exactly the same overpriced pies, sausage and mash, battered fish. This oasis of quality well prepared innovative dishes delivered by a professional service team is so refreshing. Independent restaurants like this that are delivering high quality, need to be used or the bland pub chains will be all that is left.

We used Nova outsiders for a wedding party and had an absolutely amazing sterling experience from the first planning meeting to the last finishing off of left-over business. Could not have been better. Thoroughly recommended without reservation. The evening in question posed particular challenges as it was a veritable storm shaking our marquee with 60m/hr winds and everyone just calmly continued which was very helpful.

Had a wonderful evening celebrating my sister’s 60th Birthday. What a gorgeous, very special place this is! We were given canapés followed by warm home baked bread with oils (free of charge) when we arrived. Pictured are my choices, butternut squash risotto with crispy cavolo nero to start, followed by roast turkey ‘Nova style’, (with bowls of roast potatoes and roasted vegetables, not pictured) and chocolate and orange soufflé. The food was amazing, beautifully presented and tasted incredible. Very different! Drinks were very reasonably priced. The staff were so friendly and attentive, they couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommended, looking forward to going back soon!

We visited for Sunday lunch, absolutely delicious as always and amazing value for such good quality food. We had the chateaubriand, melted in the mouth. Service fabulous. There are lots of lovely extras, freshly baked bread, chef’s snacks, petit fours - at no extra cost. Easily the best restaurant on the Wirral.

We were a group of four and we all had the tasting menu with wine paring We enjoyed all the courses, frogs legs a first for me but they were nice a bit like chicken Favourite dish for me was probably the fish dish Staff friendly and professional

Although we enjoyed some nice food at Nova mainly before they moved to the main road. On a recent visit, we skipped the desserts as the people at the next table were noisy and swearing. The staff seemed oblivious to this unpleasant behavior. They seem to attract a rough crowd here.

Be careful! Generally the food was OK, however when we complained about one of the dishes it resulted in us being assaulted by two other "customers". We reported it to the police who investigated but found the restaurant CCTV was pointing the other way and the two members of staff who witnessed the assault were unwilling to give a statement to the police. We suspect the "customer" were assossciated withe the restaurant. P.s. If you go to this restaurant please do not tell them if you don't like any of the food.

Meals are very good, but, a little too much salt in the Venison sausage, should have ordered more vegetables. Woodland mushrooms where excellent. Staff where really friendly and attentive. would be happy to eat there again 😊👍

We went here to celebrate the selling of our house. We have been before and had excellent service and food. Tonight it wasn’t as good but we were still happy until we had the main course. It said plum sauce but it tasted of aniseed which I especially do not like and would not have chosen had it said that. The head waiter came back and said it was plum sauce and it was just my taste but as I was here a couple of months ago with the same dish and it tasted utterly different. At that point a customer came over to us and started to give us hassle saying she was a food critic and we didn’t know what we were talking about. The waiter offered to bring the chef over and we said fine. We had another couple of courses and were then presented with the bill. We asked where the chef was and were told he had gone home. At this point the the two customers who has been commenting came over and one grabbed my partner by the neck and said we had to pay. At no point we had said we would not pay. At the same time the female snatched my phone as I tried to call the police and walked out of the restaurant with my phone . It was obvious the waiter knew who these people were and that they were somehow associated with the restaurant. Despite both being assaulted we paid our bill. The waiter said we could go without paying but we paid it because that’s not who we are but will NEVER eat in that restaurant again and I would advise anyone who doesn’t like a course to be careful what they say! The police are investigating

We visited Nova for the first time on Friday 8th September 2023. It was absolutely delicious. James is a credit to the restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Excellent food as always. The fish cake starter was light and extremely tasty, and the lamb main absolutely delicious accompanied by some of the best roast potatoes. We love Nova and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended.
