Ognisko Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

Unfortunately my opinion is very negative, we were with family. The visit started at 17.30 until 20.30 I did not get the ordered dish. The noise was unbearable, the service was also unpleasant and the prices unfortunately high. Unfortunately I do not recommend this place.

The first time I have tried Polish food and it was very tasty. Located opposite the museums the restaurant is discreet but it was booked out, and on a weekday. We were welcomed to sit at the bar and ordered from the menu. Staff and deco was classy and it had a cosy vibe. Michelin star for a reason!

The place was closed, no information provided online, on the restaurant door or in Google ...waste of time getting there

A lovely restaurant, (and a fun bar at the front! We used to go to Baltic, and Ognisko is just as good.

Delicious food and drinks made for a memorable 'Polish Christmas' meet up for our family. We lingered all afternoon on the comfy sofas and chatted the hours away. Fabulous!

This restaurant is one of the best in London. The food is exceptional with extremely generous portions, and the service is perfect. My most recent visit however was significantly marred by a table of 25+ Americans dominating the central strip of the restaurant. They were shouting, hollering, kids running amok and different individuals from the table making loud, dramatic speeches and faux apologising to the remainder of the restaurant being forced to listen to it. The entire ambience was ruined, I had to shout to my partner over the table to be heard. The manners and overall etiquette of the group were appalling. It appeared obvious that the other tables in the restaurant were becoming increasingly irked by this, yet no member of staff or management intervened. The “speeches” segment being particularly frustrating. When paying £100+ per head, it would be appreciated if management could consider all clientele in attendance, and remind individuals of the above ilk that their use of a restaurant cannot be at the expense of other’s enjoyment. For balance, I will reiterate that the food here is excellent and on all visits to this restaurant, I’ve had nothing but incredible service.

This is one the best finds of my life so far. This restaurant is absolutely spectacular. The food is perfection, and I would recommend the Golonka to anyone. It was cooked to absolute perfection. Our starters, desserts, cocktails and wine all fantastic too. The service was faultless, and the atmosphere is great, if a little dark! I really hope to be back again soon.

Love this restaurant with its outstanding staff.....the food is not haute cuisine and does not seek to be so.....just good food that is pleasant to eat....however, the noise generated in the restaurant when filled to capacity rather spoils the lunch/dinner experience.....you need to be a lip reader or good at sign language.....you will spend alot of time being a bit shouty......perhaps i must have been sitting in the wrong place......shall do a bit of research next time.....

The food at the restaurant is good, but the noise level is astronomical. The tables are packed very close together and it is impossible to have a conversation with your dining partners because there is so much loud conversation going on around you. We were really not able to enjoy our meal nor hear each other.

It may be very good away from Christmas but…. a pre-concert meal was just okay. The exterior terrace was noisy at 6pm and the place was a bit shambolic. The food was pleasant but not spectacular. I will give it another try but not in the festive season

Fantastic lunch with really flavoursome food. We’re not regular visitors to London so the choice of restaurant was a bit of a punt. But it was a great choice and although very busy the service was great too.

It’s been 5 years since I last ate at Ognisko and it’s still going strong. Love the Polish inspired cocktails and the light bites (the pierogi and the smoked eel are fabulous). My only complaint is that they ran out of space and were seating diners in the hallway, but hopefully that’s a temporary measure due to the holiday rush.

I visited the restaurant with my family to celebrate our memarial date. It was the second visit to me. Both visits were really fulfilling because of not only delicious foods but also very good ambience.

This is a delightful restaurant in a lovely setting, a formal dining room with pleasant, professional waiting staff. Food is very good - modern Polish food including very good fish dishes. I particularly enjoyed and recommend the large range of vodkas.

What a place, fell in love with it. I never tried polish food but when tried, loved it. Very nice and cozy atmosphere at the bar and very romantic at dinner. Thanks to Jasiu and his whole team specially Aga, for providing such nice hospitality.

We had a lovely meal before an event at the Royal Albert Hall. We needed to eat quickly and change. The waiting staff were brilliant, attentive courteous and helpful. We've not had much polish food before and it was all delicious, especially the kasha and the mushroom dumplings. Highly recommend this wonderful institution for a memorable meal. Thanks to all.

Try something different - typical polish food. Hearty and delicious. Great service Lovely bar area for pre-dinner cocktails, especially if you like Vodka Has a wonderful traditional elegant feel to the restaurant.

Nice to go back after so many years and see that little has changed. Like a well oiled machine the food is good and the service is strong.

Truly excellent in almost every way (food, wine, location, ambience, atmosphere, decor, and a clear majority of the service, etc) - although my female friends and I did think it a little sexist that it was assumed, without question, that I'd pay the entire bill for all three of us. I happily did so, but the assumption was, in our view, old fashioned and dated. It seemed rather 20th century, to be frank. This is only a minor criticism, though; it still very much deserves 5 stars, although I would politely suggest that assumptions concerning males picking up the entire bill, if females are present, should probably be reassessed.

Wonderful lunch experience. The food was full of flavour, the best herring I've ever had! Can't wait to return. Service was wonderful and we were not time limited either.

Everything was excellent - unreal food, friendly staff and such a beautiful and authentic place! I haven’t felt such a great atmosphere in any other restaurants before and I can definitely say that food-wise - it was one of the best restaurant I’ve ever been to!

Oh, wow! Michelin Star well deserved! (Why not more?). Excellent food, service, staff and building. What a gem, was absolutely delighted to have the privilege of being a customer there. Full marks.

Really, really happy with the venue, the service and above all the food and drink. The vodka flavoured with caraway and dill was delicious. The portions are large so unless you are very hungry (and I mean very hungry) I would suggest sharing a starter and having the main course. The four of us shared marinated herrings and a a stuffed perogi with cheese and potato, and then we tucked into what is heaven - chicken livers. Fabulous We also had a bottle of Georgian red wine to wash it down, terrific. No room for dessert. The service is so friendly including the person taking our coats as soon as we got through the door, and then the waitresses who noticed that my wife's purse / bag had slipped off the back of the chair and could have been stepped on, or worse. You have to book, though.

We went for lunch and it was a great experience. The food was amazing - really good quality and priced at an affordable level. The service was excellent and sitting in the conservatory on a cold winters day was magical. Can’t fault it - we will be going back soon!

This really is one of my favourite restaurants in London. A beautiful venue, with spectacularly good food and lovely staff. who could want more?

Excellent lunch for three. Food was very good, the waiter was on top form and the experience was very enjoyable. The temperature in the room did fluctuate and was occasionally too warm but that’s a small niggle. Will go again.

Very nice place with a big room and a lovely extension with view over the park. The food is good, but nothing to cry for. To say prices are quite fair to be so central in London. Service really slow but kind. In general not that bad.

Fantastic experience - the best hidden gem in Kensington!

Holiday season starting, very crowded and consequently noisy. Not so on previous visits. Food and service excellent, as usual, and prices very reasonable.

I had an excellent experience at Ognisko, dining with a mate! I had no prior experience of Polish cuisine and now my expectations have been set so high following the dinner last night - I can't wait to return to Ognisko with more of my friends and partners!

This was a very intimate dining experience, the indoor atmosphere was lovely with a candle lit table, high ceilings and low lighting, the welcome into the restaurant was also pleasant. All the food tasted amazing and my Polish boyfriend felt it was very authentic and well-prepared. Would go again but reserved for special occasions!!

We had a great lunch at this restaurant. The duck was incredible and also the cocktails, plus some homemade aromatic vodkas 🤩🤩🤩. The staff is very nice and the atmosphere is spot on.

We visited Ognisko with high hopes to try authentic Polish food. Here's how we rated the dishes: Pelmeni: 8/10 – nicely done Schnitzel: 8/10 – very good, crispy Blini with Salmon: 7/10 – the salmon was fresh and seem homemade but plain in flavor. Tartar: 7.5/10 – super fresh, but we missed some extra kick like onions, capers, or chives... Sea Bass: 7/10 – moist and well-cooked, but the flavors felt flat, a bit "boring". Pavlova: 6/10 – not sweet enough and too sour for our taste. Babka: 6/10 – it seemed underbaked and was a bit plain.Maybe it's a matter of personal taste (for both deserts) Overall, the food was decent, but we felt it needed more flavor. We found ourselves adding salt to most of the dishes (we rarely do that). While it was an okay dinner, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations.

Welcoming and comforting ambience, restaurant tucked away off the beautiful Exhibition Road. Impressive range of delicious menu choices, drink list likewise with wide a range of options allowing for an experience in themselves. I thoroughly recommend this place the only danger being you’ll forget to leave and get to your concert!

Huge surprise, looking at the old fashioned (but really nice) dining room, we expected stale representations of Polish standards, But instead we found simply great food. Herring, Pierogi (we tried a few types) were superb, mains (lamb shank, and whole duck for 4 ) great. Cocktails were good. I liked the beetroot martini - but eliminated the apple juice on a second order. House wine was a decent value.

Tremendous place. Horseradish vodka, eel, rabbit, cherry dumplings. Veggie mate had fried dumplings and winter mushroom pie, with mashed potato piped on top. Helpful staff, lovely interior, place was busy and bustling on a Thursday night. Highly recommended.

We all had the set lunch. It was all good and collectively we tried all the dishes. As a late lunch I found my red cabbage tasty but distinctly cool beneath the tasty and hot duck leg. As usual tasty and apparently authentic food.

The food is good - fairly hearty Polish food, no micro-veg or fragrant purees, no heavily reduced sauces drizzled around the rims of designer plates. I couldn't call it unexpected or exciting or innovative, just good. The cocktails are more adventurous, and the bar deserves its own review as it's a good cocktail bar in its own right. The stand out characteristic of this place is the old world ambience - real candles not LED ones, good chairs, good tablecloths, a beautiful room. Low volume conversation, low key but effective waiters. Low lighting. Elegance. There's no dress code that I'm aware of, but over most of the room were dressed up, at least to the point of jackets for men and dresses for women. This is not an easy combination to find. There are plenty of grand cafes and high end bistros serving similarly familiar and well cooked fare. They are bustling, noisy, crowded. There are plenty of comfortable, discreet, elegant restaurants with waiters that have time to talk. They tend to have Michelin stars (or dreams of them) and menus to match. There are local restaurants that are oases of good cooking and calm surroundings, but they are not elegant or grand. This restaurant manages elegance without pretension, and the food is pretty good too. London is not short of good food. It is increasingly short of elegance.

Another wonderful evening at this fabulous restaurant. Excellent room, beautiful lighting, outstanding food, very sensible prices ( for these crazy days ) and, as ever, slightly different. It may be against the trend, but thank goodness !!!

PLEASE do yourself a favour and never eat here or at their club. I know the owners of the cleaning company that services them and they are constantly laughing at their customers because they have rats in the kitchens, the conditions of the places are so unhygienic and they find it so funny to be doing that to you. They’re literally laughing at you behind your back while they take your money, they told me and my partner never to go to their restaurant or club. AVOID.
