OISOI Gathering - Music Bar Restaurant in Sheffield

Service was sub par and food was way too overpriced, was only a step up from a normal Chinese takeaway due to non soggy spring rolls but was triple the price, toilets were filthy and couldn’t sleep at all after due to being so ridiculously thirsty wouldn’t go again.

What a fantastic gem 💎😍 Oisoi is one of my most recommended spots in Sheffield. Oisoi has a special place in my heart, and is the perfect spot for a special occasion. 🍤🍖🥟The restaurant is as gorgeous as the food they serve. We tried several starters , delicious dim sum delivered in a beautiful box, jingdu sticky pork ribs (James' fave), prawn toast with a devine rich (possibly tahini truffle sauce?) and my favourite - kataifi king prawns in a crisp pastry nest with a mango drizzle 😍 🦞🍚🍲Mains were the freshest lobster I've ever tried (it was swimming in a tank 10 mins before serving, and look at the size of those claws!), crispy duck pancakes, slow braised brandy beef rib that just fell off the bone, and Hong Kong fried rice absolutely blew us away. They also have an impressive vegan menu that looks incredible 🌱 🍸🍹🥂Cocktails are beautiful too, we tried a dragon themed cocktail that was addictive with a huge fruity punch and a touch of chilli. And a classic Pina colada. Huge 10/10 recommendation from us. Get booked in for your next special occasion! 🛍️Don't forget to call by the neighbouring @khoriental Which now has the same owner as the restaurant for snacks to take home. Been going for years and went for my 40th 11th January 2025 and the food was amazing as ever, but the service was terrible. Wasn’t really that busy as was early in the evening and was told we could only have one menu between us. Ordered drinks and waited ages for them and they ended up coming at the same time as the starters and had forgotten the crackers. Never got asked if we wanted more drinks at any point, we waited for ages for plates to be cleared and never got asked if we wanted desserts. Ended up just getting up and paying the bill on our way out leaving a table full of plates

The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The Dimsum platter was a standout—each dumpling was perfectly steamed, with a variety of fillings that were both unique and satisfying. The service was friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience. I'll definitely be returning soon!

I have purposely left a 2 star review so people actually read the review and dont ignore it.. After reading multiple reviews and seeing the ranking via Tripadvisor, we thought this was going to be a great evening. We understood is was NYE and it could potentially be busy, this was not the case and it appeared to have plenty of empty seats. We arrived 15 minutes early and was told that this was fine and we could be seated (7.15pm) We sat down and waited 30 minutes before our drinks order was taken. Much to our delight after waiting another 45 minutes to order our food, we were informed that the dim sum dishes were unavailable, something we specifically wanted to have and this is not mentioned anywhere. Not one person sincerely apologised for slow and poor service and the waiter we had looked like he had never seen the menu before when discussing recommendations. We ordered a glass of wine each and some sparkling water. I went up to the bar to find the only man making drinks was also the only poor individual serving them as well, the management have clearly never organised anything before in their life to think one man in a bar is suitable any time of an evening service, let alone new years eve? When food did in fact finally arrive (many other tables were also fortunate enough to be waiting an age too! Just look at the other reviews) the mains weren't remotely warm and after waiting so long it was just simply a case of eating it to avoid waiting another age for food once again. To round all this off, whilst everyone waited... A group of people came in who clearly knew someone at OiSoi... Sat down and had drinks served immediately and then food even started arriving directly from kitchen staff just to add insult to injury! Circa £130 for a cheap and cheerful takeaway at best, I cannot stress how bad the entire night was and how clueless all the staff seemed, the management should be ashamed of themselves and take a good look at what an earth they're doing because historically the reviews seem really good.

Previously had two very nice meals here. OK I admit tonight is New Years Eve, but that shouldn't really mean that they are so heavily booked that they cannot deliver a timely service, which unfortunately was the case. We were seated in a smaller room away from the main restaurant, to the right as you enter. Yes, there are nice large windows, but it feels like you are in a backroom overspill offshoot with a tiny bar and storage for washing up and high chairs !! Service was extremely slow tonight and although the staff were friendly and polite it took 25 mins before anyone came to take our order, even for drinks. The food arrived 50 mins after our booking time, with starters, duck and mains all coming together. We had to use our plates and bowls to cover the later courses and keep them warm while we rushed down our starters and duck on our remaining crockery !!! On the up side the food tasted amazing as always, unfortunately the place was too overstretched on this occasion to prevent us from properly enjoying it :-(

Went on 13.12.24. I must say the service lets this place down. Very difficult to even get a drinks menu let alone a drink at all. The food comes in stages which they don’t mention. So when 80% of the mains arrived and one missing we then asked. They then brought it. Clearly they were going to bring it anyway but it would be good if they just mentioned it when bringing the other food. Also the drinks prices are in places mad!! My wife was drinking cranberry juice. Simple as that. £6 per glass. I get drinks prices and although £6 for the bottles of tiger beer I was drinking it’s accepted. But come on. £6 for a cranberry juice! So all in all the food was nice the service very poor.

Exquisite food that's really flavoursome with a brilliant service from staff, very polite and such a beautiful restaurant, it looks like a top tier fine dining interior and doesn't disappoint in any area! Definitely recommending this to friends and family, definitely will return again

Came for the dim sum lunch and everything was fine until we had the garlic ribs which were so chewy that it was inedible. Now what followed was a complete mess by service staff on how to deal with complaints. I was offered an exchange but surely more than 25 mins in a half empty restaurant is more than enough time to make a replacement. I already finished my meal 10 mins and still no sign so requested it be removed from the bill. The supervisor offered me to take it away but only if I paid the full bill of £73. I refused and then the service staff mood changed as if I’ve caused the inconvenience. Look - you should have given the ribs for free as you messed up and there is no assurance the ribs will be right. When I left you with a tip (which is not deserved), my family did not even get a single “goodbye” from any staff. If u want to consider yourself as a top restaurant, you have to be able to do the simple things in hospitality. A more capable manager is needed.

Llegamos temprano para tomar unas copas en el bar antes de nuestra comida.   El lugar estaba vacío, pero pedimos algunas bebidas.   El gerente le pidió al barman que encendiera todas las luces + era tan brillante, sin atmósfera, que le pedimos que las bajara, lo que hizo.   Había dos lotes diferentes de música tocando en una habitación; música pop canalizada desde el complejo en el que se encuentra el restaurante y música clásica de piano. Pedimos que apagaran uno de ellos; el barman gruñó y se fue. Después de unos minutos mi compañero fue a buscarlo y dijo que no sabía cómo apagar la música y no encontraba al gerente para preguntarle. Fue horrible, así que dejamos nuestras bebidas, cancelamos nuestra mesa + nos fuimos. Definitivamente no volverá. No tienen ni idea sobre el servicio al cliente, así que no se sorprende de que estuviera vacío.

Some Dim Sum dishes are good, while others are just fair. The service and atmosphere are excellent.

Great restaurant, beautiful setting ,attentive staff , food was amazing . Only criticism, didn't check service charge 10% added, plus we left a tip. so overall tip was £30, don't agree with 10% being added without consent.I will tip what I feel is appropriate.

Fui a mi cena de cumpleaños y me lo pasé de maravilla. no solo era hermoso y llamativo el entorno, sino que la comida era DELICIOSA. Realmente la mejor comida asiática de fusión que he probado. El personal era tan encantador y todo el entorno era muy auténtico y bien pensado. Fuimos en un día más tranquilo (un jueves por la noche) así que tal vez no la representación más precisa del lugar, ya que estaba bastante callado. Pero realmente no tengo quejas, no puedo esperar a volver.

The food and drinks were amazing everything was delicious. I had the vegetarian dim sum and sea bass and scallops. Incredible. The only thing to improve on would be the service it was quite slow and we had our starters in 2 sections which would have been nice if we could have all eaten together.

It's gone downhill since we ordered in past. Everything from the food to packaging. It isn't the same. Plus the price is ridiculously expensive for something decent but not spectacular. Quite disappointing!

Don't bother go here if you're gluten free, vegetarian or vegan. Everything except plain rice has gluten in. The dishes marked as vegan or vegetarian still have oyster or fish sauce in 🤷‍♂️ Ended up walking out

Ordered the spring rolls and the satay vegetable skewers which were both marked on the menu as vegan About 10 minutes after ordering someone came and told me neither of these were actually vegan as they have Crustacean in. Why mark them on the menu as vegan then? I asked about some of the options on the menu which are marked vegetarian but they apparently have oyster sauce in them - but was told these are marked as vegetarian as vegetarians eat fish?? At this stage I gave up because it had been 30 minutes and our drinks still hadn't arrived (for a table of 2!) so we had to leave. I would warn people who are vegan or vegetarian to avoid as markings on the menu are not accurate. They said they would contact head office to address this.

Waited over an hour and half for main course Plate was full of burnt dry chillies. Told waitress and said she would pass comments onto the chef.No apology.Won’t be going again.

Comenzando con un negativo para el equilibrio - los precios de las bebidas son desorbitados , £ 10 por un vaso de 250 ml de Sauvignon Blanc es masivamente excesivo. Maravillosa decoración y alrededores; solo un lugar muy especial para cenar - en realidad me gustó la música de fondo. Bonito y luminoso, pero de alguna manera parecía íntimo. El personal era muy profesional, el servicio era un poco lento, pero era un martes por la noche, pero la comida era de muy alta calidad. Porciones de buen tamaño tanto para los entrantes como para el plato principal con una gran presentación - un verdadero "corte por encima del resto" en términos de comida Fusión Asiática, sin duda volveremos.

Absolutely stunning decor. Super instagramable! Me and my friend came in for the lunch menu and wasn’t really sure what to try but the waiter had several recommendations . The prices were really reasonable. Tried lots of new interesting things. Would 1000% recommend a real hidden gem.

Oisoi is one of the nicest fine dining experiences in Sheffield. The food as always was delicious with a huge choice of both veg and non-veg options. You are guaranteed a warm welcome and wonderful hospitality with great ambiance. The cocktail choices are as exciting as the rest of the special menu. There is ample parking underground or in the adjoining streets with level access with escalators/lift. We went for dinner as a family of 6 for my father’s 89th birthday. Regina and Nic were great hosts and the evening felt really special. Highly recommended this for both casual or formal lunch or dinner.

Seafood lover looking for succulent lobster and soft shell crab? Look no further. Oisoi has a perfect fusion of Thai and Chinese influences. Don't let the stylish decor keep you from walking in as a single diner, staff warm and welcoming with excellent recommendations on the menu, and relaxing attire seen throughout. I can highly commend the virgin pina colada with the lobster curry!

Excellent Saturday lunch. Har gau, siu mai, chive and prawn dumplings, deep fried prawn bean curd roll & stir fried beef ho fun noodles. Authentic and recommended. £36 for two.

Recommended by the beautiful lady God of Cooking. Feel free to try it. In addition, there is an offer of dim sum 4for3👍🏻 so you can try out different styles. Cooking with wok gas The dim sum also tastes very good, officially Hong Kong style But the waiter forgot to place a single plate of roasted rice for us. Later, we added more orders, but there was once again a lack of communication with the kitchen. I was told repeatedly that the siu mei had been sold out, and I was very disappointed. There is enough space between the counters in the store. Don't be too crowded.

Went here when it used to be in St Paul’s in town and was amazing, we visited again now it’s moved near Bramall lane and it’s really gone downhill. The Malaysian curry wasn’t at all like any other I’d had, the chicken was off putting. Was very expensive and food quality wasn’t worth the price at all

A lovely evening meal. The dim sum starter was the best dim sum we have ever had (including long time spent in Hong Kong). Every dish we had ordered was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient too. Will be sure to return when visiting Sheffield again.

Brilliant service, they couldn’t have been more friendly. The food was absolutely delicious! We (embarrassingly) knocked a glass off the table and they couldn’t have been nicer about it - a team of people immediately appeared to clean up our mess, and then replaced the meals we had ruined!! Since moving and changing owner this place has fantastic chinese food to affordable prices. Fantastic atmosphere. Great staff. The dim sums are to die for. We had such a tasty meal. Will be returning soon

The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the atmosphere is so relaxing! The Dim Sum selection is brilliant and we will be back for more! We also ordered the Singapore Noodles and the portion was generous! We would definitely recommend this place!

It was the most delicious dim sum I've ever had!

Despite a positive experience in the past, the restaurant has really gone down hill with food quality slipping. The food is horribly unfresh and bad, all the money went into the decoration, offering nothing but deceptive photos with no dining value. The dishes are expensive, and they charge a high service fee. I advise everyone to be cautious.

Very nice environment with relaxing atmosphere. Great services. Dinner menu is mainly Asian dishes and they all taste very good. We love the satay sauce and the king prawn. Fried Rice also not bad but I think is the Thai style not Cantonese one. Good dining experience here.

Wow, Oisio have really improved. Its been a couple of years since our last visit and the food was 3.5/5 - now it's 5/5. The dim sum is superb, top quality and freshly made. The fish was lovely as were both king prawn dishes. Congratulations Oisio, the dishes are wonderful and we're already planning our next visit.

Good tasty and filling meal. Definitely worth it. We tried the dumpling assortment and the kataifi king prawns to start, followed by the lychee sweet and sour sea bass and a soy fried rice There was ample seating space. However, the food took quite a while to come.

I celebrated my 30th birthday here with a large group of 20. I cannot fault the service or the food at all. The team did an amazing job of accommodating us and making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, and the drinks were great too!

We sat down and was struggling with the menu, one of the waitresses (possibly a manageress) helped us choose our food as we struggled to understand the menu structure, she was really helpful and made us feel really welcome. We think the chefs may have toned down the spice in the food because none of it was spicy, so this may have been the case with some other aspects of the food, which we understand. (For context; me and my girlfriend are both white) We came to try something new which is what we experienced. We would have liked a little more spice. This is the only reason I voted 4 stars in good otherwise it would have been 5 stars. Thanks for a new experience, you will see us again shortly.

OISOI used to be a location which we’d love to go to especially for the A La Carte menu, and so when we discovered OISOI was under new management with more Dim Sum options we decided we had to try it. The service was ace and interior was lovely - just like before. The Dim Sum menu has a variety of options- We were so excited! Unfortunately our fried Dim Sum, the pastry had broken and was burnt… such a shame that this was still served despite being clearly visible. We informed the staff about this as the filling was also burnt- they changed it straight away. The sizes of this fried dumpling dish is usually bigger so the smaller size was a bit of a suprise. Nether the less, we were excited to try the others. Hau Gau shrimp dumplings is usually my favourite but unfortunately the dumpling pastry kept on breaking/ too thin. But the prawn filling was ace! Siu Mai dumplings were ace and I really enjoyed this! Succulent and tasty. Beef balls were quite big and juicy! Yet again the pastry for the vegetable dumpling was quite thin and so with the dumplings being pushed altogether into the middle they just stuck together and broke when being picked up. Filling was good! Cheung Fun: was good- the Cheung fun wrapper/ pastry was a bit too thick and placed on side of a long dish which made the portion seem a bit out of place- some side garnish or a small plate would have solved this, or even having the soy sauce separately on the side may solve this too. Don’t know what the situation was with the ribs and phoenix claw rice being served in a clay pot for other tables but served in a bowl for us… the clay pot presentation made it seem as though it was actually cooked in the clay pot. When asked, we were informed they had ‘ran out’ the clay pots ( 3 tables at the time had this dish and it was not busy), but we were reassured it is cooked the same way. Overall, I feel as though this wouldn’t be my first choice for Dim Sum and will have to reconsider visiting for the A La Carte menu. However the service was good and atmosphere was relaxing. Lots of potential to progress further.

Totally exceeded my expectations. Every course we ordered was delicious. Reasonably priced and excellent service. My daughter is vegetarian and had lots of choice. Highly recommend this place. It would be nice if they’d put a draught beer on.

First of all food is over priced. Price does not match the taste or the quality of the food. This is the first time I have ever written a review on any restaurant but I was obligated to do so because of how bad the food was for the price point to save your time and money.The food was generally bad. Average restaurant interior and atmosphere. Sorry for the negativity.

Friends had recommended, thought this one was a dead cert. Decor was interesting. Music was....weird!! In an Asian fusion restaurant we had Norah Jones, The Eagles and Tracy Chapman! 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ A couple of dishes were nice, as was the rice, but really nothing special. One (beef curry) was absolutely tasteless. And....no dessert menu?!! Not even ice cream? When there is the excellent Yee Kwan ice cream in Sheffield? £120 for 3 people - for mains and 3 beers. Service charge of 12.5% added automatically felt annoying. Won't be going back. 😖

Tacky interiors with lots of plastic leaves and flowers. Food very overpriced and poor quality. Have been before and quality has really gone down.

From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with a huge smile. The staff are so polite, they go beyond the call of duty to make sure that you are truly satisfied. The interiors are enchanting. The food is 5* Superb, truly delicious. Each dish is a taste sensation. Extremely good wine selection too.

Gorgeous decor, very attentive waiters and the food was delicious. In particular the prawn starter and beef short rib main were wonderful.

You can read my previous review below. Went for an anniversary meal last week and it was distinctly average. The menu wasn't as vast as last time and the food was ok. My wife enjoyed her food as did I but for me it was nothing better than a decent takeaway. Cheap, no. Excellent, yes. An incredible meal with lovely surroundings. A place for special occasions, somewhere to save up for and savour. Possibly the best meal I've ever had in a restaurant.

As I use the supermarket next door, I was aware of Oisoi but had never visited. I was over the moon when my friend booked us in for Ladies Night. The service was impeccable. The food was all excellent, especially the crispy beef. The ambience in the restaurant was lovely. We had the 4 course meal with bottomless drinks. The range of wine available was superb. Far better than any other I’ve been too. It included Marlborough Sauv Blanc! The cocktails were sooo good! I think I tried most of them. Really well presented. All in all, probably the best I’ve been to. Highly recommend.

A real shame!

The service was outstanding. Very friendly and attentive. We were even moved to a more desirable table upon arrival. We loved the food. The soft shell crab starter was amazing. The sweet and sour chicken main was very crispy, filling and delicious. Their portion sizes won’t leave you hungry. Some starters are a little pricey however, such as the beetroot dumplings (£9 for 3 small dumplings) but the price range of the menu is a little above average, so it is expected. There’s also the added option to take your leftovers home with you, with no additional charge. We reserved a table last minute on 29th of August (Bank Holiday). The booking process is very easy and takes no time at all via their website.

Oisoi was fabulous. The food was absolutely delicious. A taste sensation. The service was excellent and Matthew looked after us so well. Would definitely recommend. There is a realky cool bar across the square calked Lykke.

Travelled to Sheffield for family event and this was a meeting of friends for lunch. We booked the table for 1 oclock on Sunday and could not have been more looked after. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Would definitely return again, not the cheapest food but you get what you pay for.

Disappointing to see the decline of what was one of Sheffields best restaurants. All of the fine dining effort seems to have been taken away one by one and the latest changes to the menu (even the presentation of the menu itself now in a plastic file ) means this is probably the last time we will eat here. It remains a lovely setting but is overpriced and all the special touches have gone.

Easy access with disabled parking nearby & a lift to the restaurant. Very friendly welcome & comfortable seating. Interestingly different menu, trifle spring roll was the best spring roll I’ve ever tasted, and the black pepper beef was fabulous! Kimchi rice was super. 125ml glass of wine at £9 was quite expensive, but the Shiraz in particular was excellent. The owner (Jay) told us about their superb family deal for Sunday lunch - we’ll be back soon with our grandkids…

Price is comparable to premium places, but the food just isn't that top quality. Lovely place and seating and service and had a lovely time, and the food is funky and interesting, but just not amazing quality.

The food was nice, very different menu and beautifully presented. Staff lovely albeit a bit slow. However I am not sure how they justify their extortionate prices, £20-25 for a main dish which doesn’t even come with a side so you have to spend an additional £8-10 on rice. £30 was the cheapest bottle of wine which I would be happy to spend on a very good bottle however this was a cheap, un chilled Pinot Grigio that I have had before from Waitrose for 5.99. This is really just taking the mick out of your customers. The bill came to over £100 for 1 starter, 2 mains, a rice and a bottle of wine. I am more than happy to pay this for an exceptional dining experience and high quality food and wine but unfortunately this was not. It’s a real shame as the menu is great and it’s very unique but the prices do not reflect the quality and the service at all. We enjoyed the food and our evening but I would not go back.

Bland, very over priced food. Ordered a dish which was on the menu but no longer being sold as customers had complained it was too spicy… it’s a Szechuan dish so meant to be spicy!! We’ve been to Asia and many good Asian restaurants, sadly this didn’t come close. Nice decoration though. Cheaper Asian restaurants in town are tastier and more authentic than here.

I haven’t eaten here since it was at its previous location, however all I can say is the food is out of this world! A real treat and nice to try new things… the bibimbap was just incredible and a nice touch having it mixed in front of you, really adds to the experience. I will be trying Oisoi again very soon.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely gent who got us settled in the bar with some drinks and nibbles while they finished setting the room. The cocktail I had was lovely and my partner had a lime and soda made from fresh lime by the gent which was lovely. Once we sat down we had what the gent recommended. Both starters and mains were divine. Did not feel rushed at all, the service was superb, would definitely visit again and would recommend.

Decor is nice . Service is slow . Toilets could do with a bit of attention. The food was nice . But just nice, and not that hot. The the wine had not been chilled. The price , almost £140 per couple , for two courses and a couple of drinks each nowhere near reflected the offering. Wouldn't go back.

Really good concept excellent menu. Food was really good as were the cocktails, gave 4/5 disappointed that service charges are automatically added it would have been reasonably priced was it not for that. The staff deserve a fair wage and a tip. KH is an outstanding supermarket, oisoi on the side is also good. I have seen some reviews that state the food is slow in arriving we ordered multiple items which all arrived together quite fast.

Awesome food so much quality and flavour as they say you get what you pay for as it's circa £50 per person but for special occasions it takes some beating!

Food absolutely delicious as always, but very slow service. It’s unfortunate to see that this restaurant received a 1* for food hygiene, by food inspectors. I do hope that they address this issue as a matter of urgency as it would affect their business. It’s quite disturbing, having such knowledge and you question why it’s so poor. I will not be visiting this restaurant again until their hygiene ratings improve dramatically. In all honesty, it’s a travesty as we celebrated our daughter’s 21st birthday there when she started university in Sheffield and it was an absolutely amazing experience, which is why we returned. The decor and staff were outstanding and they adhered exceptionally well to the Covid guidelines. We would like to return, so please address those hygiene issues. We visited the restaurant for a family birthday meal. I have eaten here MANY times since it first opened in the peace gardens. We love the food, yes its expensive but I have never had a bad meal here before. The service is quite poor now a days (used to be excellent). Simple things like having to ask for the plates to be cleared, having to ask for more water etc. When you are paying so much for the food you expect excellent faultless service however its just not that good anymore. However what I am more shocked about is that after we visited I saw that this restaurant has received a 1* food hygiene score from Sheffield City Council. I do not expect a place like this that charges around £20 for a main course to have such a bad food hygiene score, this is not acceptable and has really put me off going again!! That sort of score I would expect from some grotty dingy takeaway place NOT here!!!

Couldn't fault the food , best I've had in a long while ( invited out as a thankyou) staff very friendly and attentive , imagine my surprise when found a week later health inspectors visited and gave it a good hygiene rating of 1 , shame wont be visiting until this gets reviewed again

Came here last night for the first time. Staff was super friendly and atmosphere was great. The food was outstanding however we ended up waiting over an hour for our starter to arrive. The manager explained the waitress / kitchen staff had made a mistake and gave us a drink on the house. As I was driving a free coke didnt really do much. If the wait wasnt so long I would definitely of given a 5* rating.

Went here last year, absolutely awful! Food stone cold, to be told there was a breeze in the kitchen!! Never heard such humour, both me & my partner laughed! Such a nice place, awful food 🤢

Amazing food and venue! The service was a little slow but that’s to be expected on a Saturday night. We’d definitely re-visit.
