I thought it would be helpful to add some details to my review as the restaurant has responded with some incorrect information. I ordered delivery from this restaurant last night on Ubereats. To save money, the restaurant staff make the deliveries themselves rather than using Ubereats riders. This means that the deliveries aren't tracked through the app and the rider needs to message or call when they arrive. My delivery last night was late and the restaurant and rider did not get in contact with me in any way. I eventually came downstairs to check (sometimes restaurants drop off food outside without contacting the buyer) and found the rider outside with my food. He said that he had been waiting for 10 minutes, but he hadn't messaged or called during that time, just stood outside. The rider bitterly complained about the wait but eventually gave me the food. This delay wasn't too long, but unfortunately when I received the food the quality was also very poor, especially considering the high price (£20 for a small meal not including delivery or the Ubereats fee). I wouldn't recommend ordering delivery from this restaurant and I suspect that the eat-in experience isn't much better.

Terrible experience with this restaurant. I ordered a £15.95 meal which was delayed so needed to call up and this took over 35 minutes to deliver to me. When I opened up the meal I found there was only one or two chopped vegetables, mince meat and hardly any brown rice. It was the food that I was let down the most. There was no fillet beef just peas and beans. They have not admitted fault with quality of food nor value. See they're response below. The venue should not advertise delivery if busy or no staff. Absolutely feel ripped off. Terrible experience overall :( avoid, avoid, avoid

Abhi made our visit today very enjoyable, we thoroughly enjoyed the sushi and Kung Pao chicken. This is a must go with plenty of halal options, lovely atmosphere and great variety of dishes.

We have a lovely lunch as usual and our waiter Abbi was fantastic and very accommodating! He is very professional and helpful. We were a large table of 12 as well.

Came here for my birthday dinner, ran a little late and staff were really nice and accommodating of us running late. Took pictures for us and we’re very friendly! Food was absolutely delicious especially the Tuna Sashimi and Yummy roll.

All dishes ordered were nice, marmite chicken was cool to try. The portions were a bit on the smaller side for the price, however I ordered the miso salmon and the fillet was huge, just didn’t come with any rice. A good place to go if you want something slightly fancier and are prepared to spend a bit more than usual.

My food was delicious as was my husbands we will be back !

Nos dijeron la primera vez que "esto pasa y si la factura se hace en dos partes está bien" que pasó de nuevo en la visita 2 pero luego la visita 3 lo mismo pasó. Se hizo sentir como criminal, una dura "tarjeta es nula" respuesta, habíamos utilizado tarjeta todo el fin de semana en el hotel y restaurantes no hay problema. Tienen un problema, logramos pagar pero está claro que hay un problema aquí, el servicio en general es horrible. ¡Arréglalo! Vivo en la localidad y todo el mundo lo sabrá muy pronto. No espero ir a un restaurante y no poder pagar. Sin disculpas, sólo grosero. Otro restaurante decente de Barnes muerde el polvo.

I can see previous comments about this restaurant being children unfriendly. That was my experience as well. I took my 11 year old son for dinner for his birthday. The Manager gave us the coldest greeting and sat us in the cold outside although there was a free table for 2 inside for the whole duration of our dinner. The Manager was also rude to her staff which was uncomfortable to witness. Food was great and the waiters were nice.

I devour lots of sushi and other jap food often and in large quantities and this was quite good actually

My son went there with his two friends and I was shocked to hear they were charged a "table fee" of £7. They ordered water and the waiter didn't clarify tap or bottle, just brought a large bottle.

My wife and I had a lovely meal last week. The food is delicious the portions are good and the service is friendly and courteous. We'll definitely be going back.

I can't think of anything else to say except WOW WOW WOW. What a great experience. Everything from entry to exit was much better than expected.

love this place, staff are always lovely. my favourite local restaurant and although i only go once every 3-4 months, it never disappoints, came here 3 months ago with my long-distance boyfriend (who is a trained chef and he also loved it!) and just placed an online order. only thing id say is there isn't too many vegetarian options (as someone whose a vegetarian). but otherwise, highly recommend.

Great, fresh sushi and efficient, friendly service. We have eaten in for lunch (when the restaurant was quiet) and also had Deliveroo a few times. We tend to like the typical, popular dishes and they have never let us down. Also, they have a great cookie ice cream pudding - as if you weren’t already full enough with their yummy sushi! We are repeat customers. Love it.

We have always loved this cute little restaurant, and the food was absolutely delicious, well all apart from the baby squid, which was just strips of squid and a bit tough to be honest. The problem was the restaurant was freezing! It does an amazing trade in takeaway, but unfortunately that means the door to the street is regularly opened, letting in blasts of freezing cold air. The miso soup, salmon rolls and the tempura are amazing. Please just sort out the temperature in the restaurant some how.

I went to eat at this restaurant and everything was fabulous. I wasn't sure of what to have as a starter and asked one of the staff members for her suggestions. She suggested the baby squid, and I made a comment, " Are you only saying that because you work here or.." and she said,"No, it's really good, and she likes it. " We then decided to have it, and boy, was I NOT disappointed. It was just delicious!!. The funny part about the night was that she was standing in the front looking all nerve racked, waiting to see if I liked it. We made eye contact and had a laugh about it , and I told her, "I now trust your judgement." Very lovely staff, especially the young lady who served us. She should be Promoted!!

Waited ages for our food even though it was two thirds empty and the 6 other people who’d arrived after us got served before us - I chose marmite chicken which I’ve had before - awful very small and dried out amount of chicken too much rice and my sister had the salmon which wasn’t much better! We ordered coffee it was undrinkable! So sad as we’ve been there a lot but it’s gone downhill for sure

Asked politely if our 8 year old daughter could eat a ham sandwich at our table whilst we ate - menu is not very kid friendly. Was treated like a child by manager who rudely told us: "This time only"! Left without ordering. Also noted cheapest white wine on the menu is £12 for a glass!

Really great service from Oka tonight there was a mix -up with our order. Efficiently sorted out and new order delivered even though we live outside their regular delivery area. Very impressed. Thank you

About my lunch today, I ordered “chicken panko teriyaki” but what I received was disappointing, they served half-kilo of rice, a small piece of broccoli and just a pinch of pickles. The chicken had an odd texture and an overpowering garlic taste. I’m dissatisfied with today’s dish.

Love the food and regularly go in person to the Kings Road branch and order takeaway via the App locally in Barnes all the time. The front staff in Barnes branch are not as friendly and if you have any issues with delivery you are made to feel that, despite the fact you have paid over £100 in one go and do so on a weekly basis, you have done something wrong! The reality is that if you order from a takeout so regularly like we do then from time to time there will be an (easily resolvable) issue. I don’t like being photographed in my pyjamas on my doorstep holding closed OKA bags as ‘proof of delivery’ when I haven’t denied delivery occurred!

Friendly staff, quick service, quality food

This was our second visit to Oka, this time with friends, and our daughter. We loved it. The sushi is phenomenal and went down a treat. My daughter loves the teriyaki chicken, I could eat the bang bang cauliflower every day, and the salmon was great. We lived it so much we're bringing my mother here for her birthday treat (her 2nd visit). I can't wait.

Oka has fantastic food and great cocktails. I recoend the tuna tataki, dragon rolls and the tempura sea bass (which is great if you're hungry).

Food was delicious but service was truly awful. Went to celebrate my sons birthday with a sushi feast at his favourite local restaurant (we usually have takeaway) - and alongside the sushi, ordered the cooked salmon dish for my nephew. They unfortunately brought the wrong dish and we had to wait a very long time for the right dish to come out by which time, the remaining five of us had almost finished (our many sushi dishes) and my nephew had to eat his meal alone. We understand mistakes happen and would never normally complain about this kind of thing but there was not one word of apology from any of the staff - including the manager who served us. He made us feel as though we were putting him out by simply asking where the food was after quite some time and was pretty rude generally. In light of this, it was a very disappointing birthday dinner for my son - so much so that would never eat in again…

I've been to Oka many times over the years but hadn't visited for a while. We popped in on Wednesday evening where we were accommodated inside without a reservation. The food and drinks were as delicious as ever and our server, Flora was super friendly and helpful. We will return!

The food was spectacular - excellent presentation and flavors. Patricia, our waitress was genuinely happy to see us. She was charismatic about her dish recommendations. We loved everything OKA.

We've ordered from the restaurant's website and had the food delivered. Everything came in perfect condition, the pieces were organised by type on the boxes, not mixed. Very tasty, fresh ingredients. Many sushi restaurants fill the pieces with rice, this one you can actually see a good amount of fish Great sushi, we will repeat Thank you everyone! 5 STARS

The maki rolls were nice and fresh but the miso soup wasn’t what you would expect and lacked seasoning. The sashimi could be cut in smaller pieces.

Amazing food, great staff, beautiful restaurant!

I visited the restaurant last night with a friend. Such delicious food and so much choice. But what really stood out for me was the staff. They were all so friendly, and we had such great service from our waitress. Can’t wait to visit again.

I found the food good but I don't like the service. I've been there for dinner 3-4 times and I always felt unwelcomed - like if I'm a nuisance to them. My partner shares the same view.

A nice place to eat even if it is a little cramped. The service was good and the location is great. My food was nice and very well presented. The only reason why I have not given five stars is because from where I was sitting there were two staff members in my direct line of view, one was on their phone and the other was fast asleep!

The food is outstanding (superb tempura, lamb, sashimi) but the service is even better- my mother has a severe honey allergy and they made sure they checked every dish with the kitchen before letting us know (for each course) there was no honey in any of the dishes. It may seem basic, but most restaurants fail to properly check or keep you updated. Will definitely be back.

Nice food, odd smell in restrooms.

It’s a suitable place for leafy Barnes now feeling more of an isolated village than ever cut off from Hammersmith due to the bridge closure not to mention pointless road works to the east delaying my bus journey from Putney inordinately. At 2pm there was a cluster of diners sitting at tables outside and a gentleman inside with pieces of white plastic in his ears talking about suspended access to one of his bank accounts. The manager stood behind a counter and a waitress took her time to clear tables and take orders. There is a set menu featuring two courses for £18. I contemplated ordering salmon sashimi (four pieces as opposed to give on the a la carte) then kung pao chicken, but then spotted prawn tempura on the main menu which I chose followed by beef bulgogi. The six long battered prawns served in a bucket with sweet ‘n’ sour and soy sauce were superb as well as a superbly generous portion. But I was less excited by the beef bulgogi, but entirely a matter of personal taste not being an enormous fan of edamame beans (unlike my wife). A double espresso was exemplary. By the time I left a couple of boys visited for a meal who were I think the manager’s sons.

We went for lunch today. The staff were very nice however it was quite difficult to order vegetarian food. The lunchtime menu didn’t have a vegetarian option on and some of the dishes that were vegetarian such as egg fried rice weren’t marked. We have wanted to visit here for ages but I found the place looked very tired. The skirting boards in the toilets very brown behind the loo and I noticed in the main restaurant the decoration was tired and it looked a little dirty around the place. I know things have been very difficult for restaurants but I feel like Oka needs a little tlc. I would say the Korean cauliflower was delicious!!!

Food is fantastic. Eat in atmosphere is cold and a little harsh. Take away is massively erratic - great when it arrives. Last attempt at a weekend we had to cancel after 90 minute wait.

We had a reservation for a significant family birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. We arrived on time - the table wasn't ready so we were sent away. We returned 20 minutes later. The restaurant was full -there was clearly no table for us but the staff completely ignored us, the 4 members of staff present stood together looking at as and smirking as we waited with our four children just inside the door in front of a full restaurant of diners - I asked a waitress why no one would tell us what was happening - she was very offhand and just waved at the man behind her and told me he dealt with the bookings. There had clearly been a major mess up with our booking but worse than that the staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional in how they dealt with it. They were smirking and sniggering, looking at us but refusing to communicate with us or own up to the mistake. Extremely unprofessional. After pressing them several times as to whether they could sit us they finally confirmed that there was no table available, despite the fact we had made a booking 5 days earlier which had been confirmed both by email and over the phone to make arrangements for a birthday cake! Incredibly disappointing - we have never been treated so rudely in a restaurant. A 50th Birthday dinner was ruined and the staff could not have cared less. A shocking experience - I would suggest avoiding this restaurant at all costs.

My wife and I absolutely loved our food, but the truffle salmon was on a different level.

The best sushi I've eaten by a long way with an amazingly varied and diverse menu. Perfect place for lunch or dinner with attentive staff and efficient service.

Food was fantastic. Strange situation where we booked a table for 6. Unfortunately they were not able to do so. We could only get one table for 4 and another table for 2. They sat us at opposite ends of the restaurant even though the restaurant was nearly empty. It was still nearly empty when we left. Had the restaurant been busy, I would not have thought twice, but it was odd. Not cool. Not accommodating. Was my daughters birthday and she really wanted to go there. Disappointing experience.
