Old Mother Hubbards in Oldham

My mum and her boyfriend stopped off there for some food to bring to my house and got the £16 jumbo fish and chips it was enough for 3 adults the food was nice and fresh and crispy I would definitely feed a family of four the fish was perfectly cooked and so was the chips the peas the gravy and the curry and chips were all banged on to the food all in all was Epic will be back 10/10 but for tea yesterday 27/1 got a a delivery order at 15.10 it arrived at 16.30 and without the air fryer it would have none in the bin it was terrible chip soggy and fish was terrible and curry sauce the spice one was terrible and the other not the best was to for pick up 10/10 for delivery 3/10

Came to visit my in-laws in Oldham and was craving Fish and Chips. So thought I would try Mother Hubbards as they have decent reputation. I wasn't too impressed with the quality, took it as take-out and bought Large Haddock and Chips. The portions were generous however I thought the taste was bland and the fish was very greasy. Price was decent. So overall 3/5 for me.

Fish was nice however the Chips were half cooked not happy and paid £30 for the order!

I can only assume the food practices at this place are diabolical because my partner and I were both horribly unwell after eating their food and unfortunately this isn't our first time experiencing this phenomenon here. When batter is very dark like it is at Old Mother Hubbard's it means a place isn't changing their oil much. Another clue is you'll notice other reviews, even good ones, saying it feels "very heavy". It wreaks havoc on your stomach and your liver has to work very hard when you consume food cooked in oil that isn't being changed often enough. We paid £35 to have 2 fish, 1 regular chips, 1 gravy, 1 fishcake and 2 cans delivered and in return we got ill in the days leading up to Christmas. Go for a place that does their fish with a nice light golden colour, like Foz's, instead. That is the mark of a quality chippy who do things properly. Unless you enjoy spending half of your day running to the toilet, in which case knock yourself out. On the left, what good quality fried fish should look like. On the right, Old Mother Hubbard's (honestly the picture doesn't do it justice, it was darker than this).

I ordered the Jumbo fish and Chips deal to make sure every one was fed. There wasn’t a single chip with the fish that was £25+ quid and when I raised it with the driver he all of a sudded couldn’t understand my accent and when I called the shop they kept telling me I had the wrong Mother Hubbards yet Uber only provide that single number. I checked the number over and over so I know it’s correct My sister ccould do a much better standered of food and drink along with customer service compared to tbese and she only has one leg.

Lovely fresh fish and chips but was very heavy so it was hard to finish. Nice sitting area but chairs are quite low. Obviously a nice place to have lunch.

Fish was fresh and delicious but the chips was stale tasted old and not hot very disappointed as thought I would try again after being let down with food quality before and been left dissatisfied again.

Food used to be amazing. Now seems to be just really greasy! To make matters worse. It can take over two hours for your food to arrive. When you contact for an update staff act incredibly arrogant and rude. Avoid.

I appreciate the weather is bad but I did order in advance asked for a certain time. Normally are great but having screaming child waiting for food is not on.

Ordered fish and chips, minced meat pie and cheese and onion pie and gravy. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Fish was way too greasy, The meat pie was too spicy and the cheese pie was alright. Chips were good. Won't be coming back here.

Food is okay but there is always a long wait time. Been there a few time and due to their drive thru being one person at a time you can easily wait over 20 minutes per car that's Infront of you in the queue. Food is decent but nothing too special.

Always order from here food is lovely, they forgot my 2 curry sauces today which was really disappointing as I’m poorly and have kids that have autism and won’t eat food without certain things, but normally they’re very good! Got refunded through just eat for the sauces.

Service was a little slow but the food portions are great. The large portion of fish and chips was way bigger than anticipated, enough to feed 2 people. The batter had a great crunch and the chips where not soggy which is always a plus. The curry sauce and gravy were as expected of any decent chippy. Overall its a good value for money

Second time I have ordered take away and the chips haven't been cooked properly BOTH times so now I won't order again. I've been in the restaurant bit and really enjoyed the food. Delivery time was almost 2 hours from ordering.

I ordered 3 meals with just eat order due by 7 25 after 2 phone calls to mother Hubbard received at 5 past 8 cold so put in microwave this made batter soggy and un eatable said homemade cheese and onion pie was not homemade hard and pastry not crispy.the delivery time was unacceptable allways had good food from this venue but soggy and grecey had to throw it all away a wast of £25.25 will not use again

Scallops were cold and greasy...chips were cold and hard, curry sauce was ok. When I have ordered before, food has been delicious. I have to say I was very disappointed with the meal today.

Always order online as I travel from Manchester, always order jumbo fish and chips. It has never disappointed. Hot, fresh. Can't fault. Enjoy it every time. Service is efficient.

Great fish and chips, was served by Zoey, she had a wonderful attitude and was smiling and attentive. 5 stars for her. The food, it wasn’t oily as one would expect from a fish and chip shop. The taste was good, the portion size was just right, the selection of drinks and condiments was very good. The price was very fair, Over all would definitely recommend.

I went in today and was served by a Asian lad , I asked for meat pie chips gravy with peas. When cutting into the pie the meat was dry and black!! The portion was half what you would usually get from the regular lady who is always a pleasure to deal with. Suffered with stomach pains for the remainder of the day!!

Visited here a number of times to pick our orders placed for fish and chips. Old Mother Hubbard's know it very well how to make Fish and chips...and none knows it better than them here in this area. Our family likes it and it's our weakness to visit and buy this from Old Mother Hubbard's in Oldham....

As usual the food was lovely, but unfortunately the peas were missing from the order. I wouldn't normally bother but it was the second time this has happened. Otherwise everything was great.

Excellent service 👏. I accidently ordered for the wrong address and when they called to sort it out they said they'd make me a fresh one at no extra cost... one of the other guys even delivered it as the delivery driver was still out. The foods always been good but the service today was beyond what I would've expected ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Then come down to Old Mother Hubbards and go through the drive thru for your food. Glacial service with absolutely no apparent concern for customer service. The foods OK though

Went to Mother Hubbards after one year. The quality of the food has dropped. Not a pleasant experience.

Sorry, minor complaint but no peas or gravy came with the order. Also because order came so early it wasn’t possible to give this feedback until it had been assigned as delivered. Delivery lady was lovely though.

food was not ready when marked ready for collection, got home to find two meals that looked worse then a can of dog food, it was just thrown into the box not a care in the world. bags ripped, absolutely poor.

So I'm not sure whether they were having an off day but I honestly can say that the chips were raw, the sausage overcooked and the service was abysmal. People coming through the drive through were being served in front of us, even though they turned up after us and when this was pointed out, the server became very defensive. Can honestly say I will not be visiting here again.

Fish and chips very dry. Looked and tasted as if they’d been reheated or kept warm a bit too long. Previous meals have been very good. It was alright just a little disappointing.

We ordered food as a family and I went with my uncle to pick it up absolutely horrible customer service Asian lady at the drive through window she gave us all dirts all the way till we received our food the whie lady was very nice as she spoke gently and respectfully please refrain from eating here as you will lose selfrespext aswell as your money food was not the best I have tried so many mother Hubbard places but this oldham was one of the worst my family complained
