Found this little oasis by accident. Definitely coming back. The staff were very kind and coffee was great too. I enjoyed the gluten free Lichfields salted caramel flapjack.

My parter had got really quite giddy at knowing the perfect place for a spot of lunch and she was right to be! The wonderful hard working lady quickly saw to our orders (we both opted for an egg mayo sandwichs) and it was superbly made and delivered quickly despite the place being busy! The chutney that came with it was devine. With a beautiful smart but welcoming decor this place is a real gem as was the lady who served us.

This is my 2nd visit for afternoon tea and I'm booked in for a 3rd visit in 2 weeks! The staff are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The afternoon tea was plentiful, lovely mixture of sandwiches on beautiful fresh bread, pork pie, sausage roll, great strawberry milkshake, scone, jam, cream, selection of bite size cakes and lots of tea. What more could anyone ask for? The price us fantastic at £15 each. Well worth a visit

What a great find ! Found this place on the way home to harrogate and loved it. Delicious home made scone and the best panini. Currently sitting in their garden, finishing a cup of tea

We have been dining at The Gourmet Bar for so long, we never thought to leave a review before. But we really should, especially after today’s gorgeous christmas treat. Myself, OH and our dog eat here mostly on weekends. For those who have never sampled the delights of the fabulous chef here ( Dal…such a lovely person and his food is out of this world! ) then you are missing a treat. The Sunday lunches are superb. Today, we had a partial Christmas menu of the chicken and mushroom Wellington ( wow!), with the trimmings, plus a dessert of the trio of chocolate and the cheese board. The Wellington was simply delicious! The veg was cooked to perfection, the gravy…well, whatever the secret is, we need to know!…..the potatoes were perfect…but the melt in your mouth chocolate mousse, it was heaven 🤩 People really don’t seem to know how amazing the food is at The Gourmet Bar ( which is in the Novotel, Fishergate York) - I’m not certain people even know of the Sunday lunch menu. But it’s absolutely worth a trip. On normal Sundays, the Yorkshire puddings are better than anywhere else in the area, which is why we, as local residents, come back week on week. But the Christmas menu, which is on throughout December, is also fantastic. There is a huge selection of drinks…it’s dog friendly in the bar area, it’s stylish, clean, very laid back, and if you are lucky enough to have Dal there cooking for you, plus the wonderful waiting staff ( Salvi & Karl are always friendly and welcoming), then you can guarantee a lovely meal and perfect atmosphere. 🙌🏽

What a great journey we were served by Sam absolutely outstanding young chap. Friendly warm and a professional. We had the wine pairing and I have never had a wine pairing like it. Derek is like the Shakespeare of wine a master sommelier it’s just worth a million dollars to see him in action. Hannah was also a delight such an enthusiastic lady.
