Old Tramway Inn in Stratford-on-Avon

Acampamos en nuestra caravana en su gran aparcamiento, a solo 10 minutos a pie del centro de Stratford Upon Avon. A 20 libras sin instalaciones, era más de lo que normalmente pagaríamos para parar en un aparcamiento de pub. Sin embargo, la ubicación hizo que valiera la pena. No comimos en el pub, pero pasamos la noche bebiendo y escuchando a la excelente banda de chicos en vivo. Sin duda recomendaría este pub y volveremos pronto.

Estábamos buscando un buen lugar para beber y tener algo de comida, cerca de donde nos alojamos - este lugar resultó no ser tan agradable como parece y leer sobre. Entramos y vimos una zona de bar encantadora y zona bien equipada por todas partes. Pedimos unas copas y nos sentamos, pero poco después un tipo se unió a algunos otros sentados cerca en una mesa diferente y comenzó a hablar. Personalmente en el trabajo estoy acostumbrado a este idioma, PERO no cuando estoy con mi esposa en un lugar agradable con críticas razonables. Resultó que este tipo es STAFF, ya que terminó detrás de la barra y luego le consiguió hielo al barman (prácticamente cada dos trabajos eran una palabra F o una palabra “maldita”. Sí, muchos hombres en el pub, pero para mí este lenguaje era inaceptable con una señora en la zona y también niño pequeño caminando por la zona del bar (creo que era un lugareño del bar). No volveremos y si alguien está buscando un buen bar, sugiérele que lo piense dos veces aquí a menos que te guste el lenguaje realmente malo! Estoy acostumbrado al mal lenguaje, debido a mi trabajo y estilo de vida (conductor de motocicleta y también un repartidor), pero este lenguaje no debe ser aceptable en un bar / restaurante público!

Parada por dos noches como una parada de pub utilizando su aparcamiento en nuestra caravana como base. Stratford - on - Avon era hermoso y el personal trabajador en los pubs que visitamos era increíble. El personal de The Tramway Inn era funcional y amable. Sin embargo, en la primera noche fue una "staff party" (música de club fuerte) que terminó a las 23 . 30 (no publicado) La segunda noche, el autor fue testigo de un negocio de drogas que tenía lugar en el pub seguido de cerca por el personal del pub que se unió al vendedor y comprador para tomar unas cervezas! Además, pagamos £ 20 por noche para un lugar de estacionamiento solamente. En conclusión, Stratford era increíble la ubicación era muy decepcionante.

Encantador pub amable, cayó después del teatro como no locales y eran muy amables y serviciales, gran servicio y muy recomendable!

Bueno, no vamos a volver por comida que es seguro No había chile, así que no había nachos o hamburguesas Tex o chile con carne. No había pescado con papas fritas. Los huevos parecían haber sido cocinados el día anterior. El gammon estaba delgado y demasiado cocido. Las patatas fritas eran lo único bueno. Aparentemente no hay chef durante 2 semanas, así que por qué tomar reservas cuando claramente no pueden hacer frente

Great pub with friendly staff and locals. Made to feel very welcome. Selling a good range of ales and fresh cooked food is definitely worth a visit when in Stratford upon avon. Also, has overnight parking for motorhomes in the spacious car park behind the pub.

A terrific pub in Stratford inhabited by locals, not tourists. Very friendly and welcoming to 2 Aussie visitors. Food was yummy and cheap. Great selection of local and imported beers. We got live entertainment both nights we visited - a young singer with his guitar on the Friday and a full band on the Saturday night. The pub was singing along. Bar staff were lovely, all on all a great night out and just across from our Airbnb Hampton Lodge.

Fabulous Sunday roast, excellent staff, lovely decor, fab darts board and great value for money with big portions. We will be back

We stayed in the pub car park with our Motorhome, Everything was perfect from arrival, Ideal location to access the attractions, not too far to walk, Lovely Pub food as well. Also Dog Friendly

Have visited this local pub a few times over the last few months always enjoying a very pleasant experience. Under new management a friendly young couple who have really improved and tidied up the place. Very welcoming a good atmosphere and feeling suitably Christmassy. A much better selection of drinks, although haven’t eaten there yet the Sunday roasts looked delicious we fully intend to indulge ourselves soon.

Best fish and chips I’ve eaten for years!! We arrived on Friday evening. We had paid to stay in their car park for 2 nights in our motorhome. The location is excellent for visiting Stratford Upon Avon. Staff were friendly and the food was exceptional value.

Stayed at this little gem of a stop over last night in our campervan. Fab night in pub. Food reasonable. Met Emily and Eddie who run it. Lovely people and made to feel incredibly welcome. No EHU. Use of toilets whilst pub open. Walked into town from the car park this morning. Would highly recommend and will definitely return. Emily even waved us off when we left this morning. Cost £12.00 for night. Now taking bookings through booking.com however we just turned up with no notice.

Great local pub with friendly atmosphere and welcoming to non local visitors. We had drinks and pizza whilst we played bingo and even won a couple of rounds. It's nice to visit a pub where the locals and landlords are so friendly to visitors from outside the area. Startford upon Avon is lovely and we will be back so the Old Tramway Inn will be on our list to revisit too :)

We found the pub on Google when leaving the Butterfly Farm. We were a large family group, 8 adults and 6 children They couldn’t have been mor welcoming. Plenty of tables, games for the children, great beer and just a happy caring place. Don’t expect fine dining BUT this pub serves great lunchtime menu go suit most families. Reasonable prices and Great Quality. Served with care. We got the impression the owners may have recently taken over They fully deserve to succeed. Thank you to Ed and Emily at The old Tramway for looking after us! I recently had a birthday get together for around 60 at the pub for my 40th birthday and it was such a great day/evening! Ed and Emily were so welcoming and accommodating , giving us as much space as we needed and allowing us and helping us to decorate how we wanted. There was plenty of food which came out throughout the day and evening and the stone baked pizza was delicious!!! We were well looked after from start to finish and everyone had a fantastic time! We will definitely bring family and friends again for special occasions!

Previous reviews have put me off trying this pub but I was delighted to see that it has been taken over and the reviews are now great. Went for the fish and chip Friday deal at two meals for £20. I must say that we were astonished at the quality. First time in ages that I have found somewhere that does great food at great prices. Owners are a delight and whenever we fancy a meal out this will be our place. Good luck with your business.

We arranged with Emily to stay overnight with friends and have two motorhomes. Nothing was too much trouble and Emily and the rest of the staff were great. Good selection of beers, wine and a good menu. Easy walk into Stratford on the old tramway path. We will be back.

Popped in on my way home from work with my daughter late evening as a pit stop on the way home. Recieved excellent customer service from Kevin, he was more then happy to help, a very happy and cheerful soul and made the biggest effort ever with my daughter wgich is hard to come by and making her feel included in the evening. A credit to the pub and a credit to the hospitality industry! Keep up the good work Kevin!

Booked a table for 4 and 2 children as we used this pub as a meeting spot to meet up with distant family, on arrival everything seemed ok, starters come out and we asked for the sauce on nachos to be separate which was not. When we had our mains come we was left with no cutlery on our table and had to go wondering around the pub to find some. Our mains was another level to embarrassment for the chef, I had a ribeye steak requested medium rare and come out medium well and looked like it had been boiled, bearing in mind this main is £15.95 on the menu and my partner had the seafood platter and it was shocking for £13.95! All frozen products, deep fried to the point that they were not edible, and chips was forgotten too. our other members of family was not happy either, after waiting around for our check back that never happened we asked to speak to the manager and he hid behind a door in the bar and got the assistant manager to attend to us, we explained the situation and we paid for our drinks and starters and left hungry, overpriced poor quality food AVOID

So poor I can’t give it a star! Booked this pub for dinner in Sunday for 9 and a toddler. The girl on the phone was lovely - offered us 6.15pm with flexibility. Arrived in the pouring rain to find no table available! No effort to sort out the situation, no apology. Do not go to this pub for food!

Felt inclined after seeing the last few reviews to post this.Absolutely gorgeous food, great pub, fantastic garden with plenty of space to help with the social distancing measures the industry is having to follow, as per GOVERNMENT guidelines. And yes, they don't take cash right now..... So what.....a lot of places don't and cards /contactless paymenta are actively encouraged, you know, given the pandemic goong around and cash being a source of transmission etc.... I see it as a sensible move, not one really worth moaning over...

Called in for a drink now that pubs have reopened but they now only take cards not cash. Always found it a decent drinking pub before but this paranoid nonsense does nobody any favours and I wont be back for the forseeable future.

Awful food, utterly charmless staff, one meal was forgotten and turned up once we'd all finished. No apologies. Total dump.

We called here for are tea, my mum had fish and chips, she said it was okay but there was not much fish in. I had the gammon which was nice.

I visited this lovely pub Saturday morning to look for a light bite before a busy day. I ordered the ham & cheese toastie, cutlery and sauces were provided by a lovely bar women very chatty and full of smiles! Atmosphere and outside space was wonderful and great weather to match. The toastie was 100% worth the price! With brilliant quality of ham. Overall a fantastic experience will visit again maybe to try out something from the breakfast menu :) highly recommended.

We eat in this pub most weeks as daughter rehearses in the studio there. Usually it’s decent pub grub, but last week it all went horribly wrong. I was actually on the next table to Andy R of Hull. The problems started with checking at 18.35 that service was prompt as daughter had to be leave at 7.25 and being told there was no long wait. At 7pm I prompted the bar to chase our food to be told it was nearly done. I think kitchen mixed up Andy’s mains with ours, strange as the number of diners was different! So, when our food arrived at 7.06 we were starving and in a rush. Had we had any other choice we wouldn’t have eaten it - and we’re not fussy eaters. We both had the ‘Yorkshire Pudding Wrap’. When this has been ordered before it’s been a nice fluffy Yorkshire, folded over containing plenty of meat and veg, with a side order of lovely crispy roasters. Not so last week. The insipid looking Yorkshire was like an old deflated football, looked like the contents had been shoved in and then squashed flat, very chewy, very little veg, loads of stuffing (with beef?!). It got worse when the pale undercooked looking roasters turned out to be giving a stark visual of the disappointment to come - Luke warm would be a generous description, except one - the one that was still frozen solid in the middle! Still starving we both figured the gravy would hide the lack of interest. Wrong! It was so thick it needed coaxing out of the jug, felt powdery, probably because they didn’t seem to have waited for the kettle to boil as this was only just warm too. Then the high point of the whole thing - the sudden hit of saltiness from the gravy that made us realise too late that it should have come with a health warning. So Andy R from Hull, I think you came off better than us, your chips and eggs looked nice. To be fair to the lady on the bar she did ask how the meal was when we paid, although when told it was certainly an experience and being given a run down of the issues all she managed was a sorry and still had us pay. Apparently it was the usual cook, so I’ve suggested that whatever had upset cook that night it would have been better to close the kitchen than take it out on unsuspecting customers.

Just awful, table covered in cigarette ash, music outside ridiculously loud, unpleasant smell wafting from toilet door which was left propped open! Food was dreadful , did not consist of what was advertised on the menu . Toffee and chocolate sundae contained neither chocolate or toffee just some burnt biscuit in squirty cream and one small scoup of ice cream all for £5.95!!! On the plus side the staff seemed pleasant !

Staying locally so decided to try for an evening meal. The place itself looks okay to start with. the girl serving seemed more interested in others than listening to what I wanted so was dubious it would all come correctly. The starters arrived, no issues so far, except the jerk chicken skewers were sweet barbecue at best. The fun really started when we were told that the mains were actually ready at the same time as the starters and did we want them straight away. As we hadn't started the starters we said no, but after a few minutes (while we were still eating the starters), we gave in and had them. The ham and eggs was supposed to be with 2 eggs but only arrived with 1, but as my wife only wanted 1 of her 2 that came with the gammon, I had one of hers as I couldn't be bothered to complain any more, The salad dressing were mixed up on all of the dishes as well. When the server came to "ask" if everything was okay, she didn't even wait to get an answer. All in all for almost £50 for 2 starters and 3 main meals we were not impressed.

We have been her a few times in the last year and alot seems to have changed recently! And for the better I may add! Ale is always perfect, with a great selection, they recantly changed the menu which I would highly recommend! Especially the small plates! Last time I popped in the lovely girl behind the bar mentioned TripAdvisor so I thought it was about time I'd put one on for you all! Well done tramway staff very impressed!

Booked for 7 of us but ended up Turing up with 11 (bloody family ey) which was not any issue for the tramway while we waited a few minutes for them to put an extra table together for us they took our drinks order which was swiftly delivered to our table when we sat down, food was delicious and with fast delivery the waitresses where all helpful and had a smile, overall the place looks great inside and a huge beer garden outside that was busy, Will definitely be returning next Sunday!

Having been out for the day in Evesham we decided to dine out on the way home in Stratford. Being bank holiday Sunday we thought roads would be busy and not wanting to go through town we popped into the Tramway for lunch. Atmosphere relaxed all staff were smiling. We ordered our food and even though they were busy outside our food arrived. We had fish and chips and mac and cheese. Both nicely presented and I must say my MAC was the best I have ever tasted. We use the restaurant on a very regular basis and it is consistently great. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. Reasonably priced as it is a pub.

This is a really handy pub, on one of the main routes into Stratford town centre, from the south. It has generous parking in the rear, staff are friendly and attentive, it’s clean and is a classic pub, vs a contemporary done up type venue.

We stumbled across this lovely place on a rare day out. Everything spotless toilets. The staff were very friendly “service with a smile” and the food, wow very tasty and with good vegetarian options, portions were a good hearty size too. Thank you to all the staff. I would recommend anyone pop in for a nice meal.

The new menu is absolutely brilliant, something for everyone and the free from menu caters to veggies, vegans and coeliacs! The place has a lovely alfresco area and the inside area is a perfect pub in Stratford upon Avon, it feels like a writers hub with quotes from the RSC and old fashioned books on display. There’s a retro jukebox too which just fits the bill.

Just popped in at the Old Tramway! What a jewel in the crown it is! Hidden away at the back of Stratford upon Avon! Ample parking! Very friendly staff! Great menu! The quality of food is second to none! Very tasty and plentiful! We will certainly return again!! Thoroughly enjoyable experience!!

Went for a lunch with my wife ,daughter and two grandchildren. Ordered large fish and chips, 2 small fish and chips, and childs burger , and childs fish fingers and chips.

More of a locals pub. Ate here twice, average and could use a bit of attention to detail, eg a sandwich with salad was a sandwich with (dry) lettuce. Overcooked tapas choice.

We visited here on a hot weekday afternoon and were surprised by the size of the outside space plus and outside bar. Plenty of room for children to run around and lots of parking.

Being a minute walk from our guesthouse, the Tramway was the logical place to have dinner for 2 tired travelers. We weren't disappointed. Our nice dinner was complemented by a virtual one man band with a nice voice that played a lot of pop standards to his own arrangements.

The worst meal we have ever had, loads ot things on menu not available so went for fish and chips. It came burnt and over cook and plate chips every thing scalding hot. They did offer to replace it but we had already waited a long time and we had some where to go, all they compensated us with was a sorry and 4 chocolate mints, and waitress told us better places to eat in town,!!!
