fantastic old school, traditional restaurant , great normal greek food , cooked as it should be , great service and deco and atmosphere , did really think I was in a greek restaurant which isn't always the norm nowadays .. highly recommended especially to those over 45 ..

Me siento fatal escribiendo esto ya que el camarero es tan amable. Y la decoración bonita. Pero la comida era absolutamente terrible. He comido en cientos de tabernas griegas en docenas de islas... nunca encontré comida así. El tzatsiki fue genial. Fuera de eso era soso y poco auténtico. Ensalada griega - la lechuga apenas había sido picada; muy poco tomate; sin pimiento verde. Los hongos de ajo se empanaron con una salsa plástica. Spanokopita fue una pesadilla frita. Y el taramasalata (no pedido) se servía en bandeja a pesar de ser claramente una mesa vegetariana. Estoy impresionado por todas las críticas fantásticas - esto realmente fue una comida horrible.

The food here was very average, people who say the food is amazing her really have not got a clue about Greek food. To me the white bate was horrible, it should never be cooked in bread crumbs, And the chicken kebab had no flavour, the rice had no flavour, the salad was a joke. They give you free dips, what for they were horrible. The only thing I had there was the keo beer. Really if you think Im talking rubbish please challenge me, iv been in catering for 35 years. Este restaurante de gestión familiar nunca deja de entregar. El camarero maravilloso Tony, que es tan acogedor y la deliciosa comida que sigue completa un gran día. No puedo recomendar este encantador restaurante amable lo suficiente!

Absolutely loved the trip to Orpheus Taverna, staff were amazing, the food literally fell off the bone and was seasoned so well! Would recommend this for anyone looking for a truly authentic Greek in Richmond/Twickenham.

An excellent Greek restaurant all dishes cooked by owner chef , open until past midnight, great service by Nick and Mariana. Very reasonable prices. The kleftiko is the best.

Lovely neighbourhood spot. It’s so important to have local independent restaurants like this one. Extreamly accommodating and even made cucumber sticks for me to enjoy as I couldn’t eat the bread with the dips (I’m gluten free)

Very pleasant Greek restaraunt in Richmond. Not too big as, not too small, dishes are very nice and prices adequate. The moussaka is a bit bland, but other than that, wonderful night out with friends or family.

I called the restaurant and the first reply was ‘yes’. I asked to have a talk with the restaurant owner as I’ve met him before and wanted to talk to him specifically. The man said ‘NO’ and shut the phone to my face. Horrible service.

Wanted a traditional restaurant not a high street brand which are all the same. This old fashioned restaurant is lovely so traditional food excellent and lots of it. The waiter was so lovely and knowledgeable- keep it up as there are so few of these lovely traditional restaurants around now.

Good food. Good seasoning. Decent prices. I don't like lamb if is not nice cooked but the lamb from Orpheus Taverna was amazing done. Recommended.

I love the interior of this restaurant, makes you feel you're on holiday. The service is warm and welcoming, the food is fresh, tasty and good portions. We always enjoy a delicious evening eating in this restaurant.

Doesnt look authentic at all. Haloumi is not Greek/ you would struggle to find it in menus in Greece. Kebap isnt Greek. The beans arent greek. Greek salad doesnt usually have that pickled pepper. It really isnt a Greek menu

Wonderful little Greek restaurant

I love this small but wonderful restaurant. We have been coming here for years since I was a kid. It was a favourite of my Mum and her former employer who would take the team out for lunch here. Since then, and then taking us all out as a family, we were hooked and had the delight of enjoying this wonderful place. The food is lovely and very authentic without leaving you over stuffed just perfectly satisfied.

Have never ventured over the bridge before when visiting Richmond. Loved this restaurant, lovely owners, good home cooked food and a nice atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend.

A welcoming and warm little restaurant to all with a family feel. Run by a couple, the food is soo good especially the hummus! One of the best we've all ever had. The starter platter was good enough to share between 3 people followed by mains! Definitely worth visiting. They also have lots of vegetarian options and pork skewers were out of this world!

visited the restaurant for the first and very disappointed with quality of food, pitta bread bought from supermarket, sausage overcooked and dry, moussaka sloppy with very poorly made bechamel sauce and not too much meat, lamb dish very salty and potatoes inedable

Great little Greek family restaurant. Tasty food, good wine and really friendly service.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Saturday night and the place was buzzing. I had the mixed grill which was enough for two people. The menu can’t be faulted on price and the waiter was a star. We will be back and I’ll make sure I’ve got some cash for a tip next time.

Simply brilliant. Hospitality has been utterly devastated recently but we were welcomed with typical Greek ferver. Wonderful food, utterly authentic and such welcoming hosts. If you haven't eaten here, can you honestly call yourself a local?

The restaurant itself is lovely. Very cosy. And the guy who served us was fabulous, friendly and helpful but the Food was basic, I go to Greece every year and adore their food but this was only so so. My moussaka was sloppy, mainly cheese and sauce, not a lot of meat or aubergine, my husbands mixed skewers were over cooked and dry. Quite disappointed to be honest.

Cant believe I haven't come across this gem of a place. Authentic greek food and Very good too. Has a personal touch and a very welcome atmosphere. Will definitely be going again soon.

The food was vinegary, no other word for it. Not only did the Kleftiko gravy taste of it, the Taramasalata tasted tart and not in the least authentic, as did the Feta cheese on the salad. None of it tasted freshly cooked. It looked sad and worn out. Far too much cheap red wine in the Steak Diane spoiled the whole dish. Vinegary. Either use a good red wine or cook off some of the alcohol. The Sirloin steak was so dry I could have used it to mend a hole in my shoe. The accompanying fries were cooked hours ago and redipped by the looks of them. We used to go to this restaurant years ago. Time has not helped their chef.

I've been lucky enough to visit Cyprus for over 20 years, Orpheus is the best Greek food outside of there! Really accommodating staff and fantastic food.

This is the best greek restaurant in Twickenham. Members of my family have gone for 30 years, and we wouldn't do so if it wasn't the best.

*Greek person review - Went there last night. The atmosphere of the place was lovely. The man who served us was extremely nice and sweet; couldn’t say the same about the woman though. I ordered kleftiko- they served me stifado. It wasn’t bad so I ate it. My partner chose the lemon sole and it was borderline awful- swimming in oil. That dish costs £15.50 and we didn’t eat it. No Greek chef would ever allow this dish to leave their kitchen- no waiter should accept to serve it. The lady came, didn’t ask how the food was and simply took the plates. We waited for her to even ask how it was/why we didn’t eat and she didn’t give us a word. Before even the payment got through she was literally walking away with no word! It was disappointing as we saw her being extremely sweet and attentive to others. I wouldn’t visit again after this disappointing experience. For Greek standards this is not a good place and this is certainly not the image I wanted my partner to form about Greek food/hospitality :)

Nice Staff although the food wasn’t very nice. I had the mixed meze starters, the Calamari which was cooked from frozen, the smoked sausage had a funny smell. Then I had the Moussaka which had so much béchamel sauce you couldn’t taste nothing else the roast potatoes was deep fried also. If it wasn’t for the staff I would be giving a 1* so if you want authentic Greek food this is not the place to go in my opinion.

This Greek restaurant is a jewel in the crown. The ambience is a transfusion of good Greek cuisine with excellent traditional serice, with a glint of humour and hospitality right down to the finest detail (e.g. Nick the head waiter remembering a cushion for my wife Deborah). The service is as always excelent with Maria Anne at the helm keeping Nick in order (joke).It is a family business with John (Marie Anne's husband) dishing up (with support of his Kitchen team) the most equisite Greek dishes including our favourite Kleftiko with Greek Village salad and traditional roast potatoes.The menu is oozing with traditional delacies. In short I am in heaven, not forgetting my favourite beer Keo, which I was intoduced to in Cyprus in 1987.We have been coming here for 22 years and have never looked at another Greek restaraunt locally since. To summarise Greek perfection in Suburbia.

Greek restaurant in St Margarets, very dated, the food sadly was quite poor, all mostly fried, not the healthy tasty usual Greek. Real shame because could be so much better.

First time visiting with my boyfriend for dinner on a Saturday evening. I've passed this place and had never gone. Lovely service, traditional meals and everything was delicious.

Horrible people with a disgusting attitude. Opening throwing litter on the street and being insulting when being asked to pick it up. Little respect for the community they serve or the environment they live in.

I have been eating here since the mid 80s, it has always been excellent. Really friendly staff. I love the stroganoff.

I’m afraid my wife and I had a very average meal here. The hummus had a very strong and unpleasant garlic taste, the dolmades were not cooked through so were still quite chewy. The moussaka was about average but, the salad and potatoes that came with it weren’t bad. In short, probably not terrible value for the set menu in the evenings but under no circumstances would I go for a full priced meal there. Perhaps it was a one off but I wouldn’t take the risk again

Having been recommended by a work colleague to visit, a group of four of us went on Friday. It was very disappointing, 3 of us asked for the vegetarian vine leaves to be told they didn't think they had any but then to say had two so I had the vegetarian mousaka. The meat eater ate theirs all 3 of us vegetarians left it as it really was not fit for consumption.

Great Evening, great food service very good.

This restaurant is a long-time favourite of my friend, we were looking for somewhere to enjoy a meal with no airs and daft pretensions, and Orpheus hit the spot. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in, and shown to a table. The interior is not done by a stylist - such a welcome change when so many restaurants look the same. There were several tables of large groups, but our waiter served us promptly, and gave us time when we needed it. My glasses of wine were not measured - watch out if you want a small glass and are driving. We shared meze to start - and this was generous enough for me, so my main course had to go home with me. The meze were great - home-made pitta bread, light-years away from Waitrose best, and the halloumi was perfect. My main course was lamb, beautifully tender and the seasoning was spot on, no reconstituted meat here. My friend had stiffado, beef tender enough to cut with a fork, and again delicately seasoned. Sadly after all this, there was no room for pudding, but will try again. The waiter was friendly, helpful and great at knowing just when to arrive. This is definitely a place to go for an informal meal with good food, and a great atmosphere.

My husband and I have been coming here since 2002 when I first moved from the US. Over the years it has become a firm favourite and we have joined the ranks of the many "regulars' who come for food which is fresh and tasty and for the warm and generous welcome. The owners and waiter know all the customers and it's like dining in someones home rather than just going to a restaurant. We love it here. Long may it continue.

Lovely greek restaurant very friendly owners

I called at the Orpheus Taverna recently for dinner.My starter Pastourma came with a selection of dips and was nice, my main meal of Kleftico was huge and delicious. The food was good here, and very good value.I will return soon to try some of the other Menu offerings.

Four of dined here and it was very bad food, rather sad as we were excited to have read the recent excellent review in a local publication. I had garlic prawns to start which were tiny prawns and in a strange, cold sauce. The 4 of us then had chicken souvlaki which was both burnt and raw in places. The accompanying rice was smothered in white pepper (by the cook, not us). We didn't say anything as we felt sorry for the waiter when he took 4 full plates away at the end of the meal.

It's got everything you want from a Greek restaurant. Good music, friendly staff, great food in generous portions, and it has a Greek owner so the menu is authentic. Definitely recommend.

First time in this restaurant though I understand that it has been around for 50 years! Very traditional decor, the food is average, reminds me of all those Greek restaurants in the West End in the 80s, with belly dancer and plate smashing. All the Greek dips could have been purchased from your local supermarket! Nothing special there. The main, I had Kleftico was ok. Low on atmosphere as the restaurant was quite empty. I wanted to like it more but the food just let it down

Hadn't booked but as it was early we did get a table. We were pleasantly surprised to get 3 dips and pitta bread all complimentary. All 4 meals arrived piping hot and well cooked.

Very pleased with quality of food and service and staff.

Nice place however looks a bit tired and could do with a makeover. Food was really nice no complaints whatsoever, owner is a character made you feel welcome. Restaurant did get busy whilst we were there.

I wanted to like Orpheus as it is a cozy looking restaurant. A bit twee and 60s looking but that is OK for a romantic couple. Unfortunately I was disappointed on my two visits.
