Oscar's in South Lakeland

Introduced to Oscar’s by my sister who lives a few miles from Cartmel, we celebrated my wife’s birthday with a family meal there a few days ago. Fabulous food and service and a great atmosphere. The sausages in honey and mustard were amazing. Highly recommended, we’ll certainly be back again.

We were spoilt for choice on the tapas menu so had as many different dishes as possible and shared! The chicken was crazy hot - fantastic! Prawns - delicious! Nachos and potato dishes - very tasty. We loved the meal and especially the local beer.

Very busy weekend and place had run out of most stuff, however the owner (?) was very accommodating and above and beyond to make us food as close to what we wanted as possible. Thank you for the Keto- mashup!!! ;-)

We went last minute to Oscars and had a great night of really lovely tapas and wine. The selection was very good and tasty ,my particular favourites were the garlic prawns and the alpine fries but everything was delicious. With good company, we had a great night out. We will definitely go again.

We dine and/or have drinks at Oscar’s each time we visit Cartmel. The food, drinks and service are always impressive. The team are friendly. David is very knowledgeable on wine, gin, beers etc and is happy to explain the different types. Kelly’s food is exceptional and we love her new dishes. Oscar’s is one of our favourite places to visit and can’t wait to be back next month

Fantastic selection of wines. Bob is very knowledgeable and such a nice chap. Oscar makes you feel so welcome, great assets to the business. Food was lovely and the ambience is just perfect.

Fabulous meal at Oscar’s last weekend. A delayed Christmas meal with sister and brother in law who live locally. We chose two tapas dishes each from the menu and shared them all between the four of us. Two of us also tried the locally brewed beer. The food was delicious, the service relaxed and friendly but still excellent. Highly recommended. A first visit by my wife and I and hopefully not our last.

We stayed in Cartmel last week After a large lunch on the Monday we decided to visit Oscar’s for a few drinks and a sharing platter to graze on between the 3 of us The fire was on, lovely and warm surroundings We shared a sour dough with Camembert to start then had the platter with local pie, local sausage roll, cheese, ham, turkey etc Was so good we went back on the Wednesday night and had the same again! If you’re visiting Cartmel would definitely recommend

We had a most enjoyable evening in this cosy place,. We ordered 3 small plates each, which was plenty, and they were all delicious. We asked for two glasses of white wine to start with, followed by two glasses of red, and they were both excellent value. The staff were very friendly and the service was relaxed and efficient. We regretted arriving by car, as there was a rich choice of wine on the list and a fine selection of unusual whiskies behind the bar.

Came for drinks and nibbles! Absolutely and amazing find! Lovely nibbles. Lovely staff. You won’t be disappointed.

We had Yorkshire Pudding wrap for four of us yesterday With Beef or some and chicken on another everything really tender, We had extra roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese All I can say is everything was superb We took Cheesecake and cream home with us and that was excellent If your in Cartmel Oscars is an absolute must for food What a fantastic place it is Oh and try the cocktails as well they are very nice 👍 Thank you David and Kelly

Wow!! 12 of us went here to celebrate hubby's birthday & were not disappointed.. The service was superb & the food was gorgeous. Well done Oscars we will definitely be back! 😍

We had a fabulous evening. Food was excellent, with a selection to satisfy all our individual tastebuds. We were served very warmly by David, with his astounding wine and Gin knowledge. We had a fabulous table over-looking Devonshire Square, and The Priory. Signature Butterscotch Vodka shots - post dinner 🤭

The cutest and most unassuming place we have been to. Sat in the snug, which was cosy and had some lovely wine, cocktails and small plates....perfect for a rest from the rain and to tickle those taste buds. Duck hoi sin nachos was something I will be recreating at home. On a wet July afternoon I couldn't think of a better place to pass the time and chat to other guests! Even having the fire in was welcomed! Will make this a stopping point in future!

Outstanding food!!! Outstanding service!!! Cannot recommend Oscar’s enough!! The food and service was second to none! Cannot wait for our next visit.

Superb family run little place above the Cartmel Drinkshop and Wine Snug. Menu consists of small plates, not trying to be tapas but decent sized portions of cuisine from around the world. We started with 2 each but added 2 more later on. Beautifully presented and cooked. We sampled goats cheese quesadillas, hoi sin duck nachos, padron peppers with chorizo, lemon grass prawns, bao buns and one other. Friendly host and staff who were on the ball and a great choice of drinks to go with it. Squeezed in a decent priced desert at the end to round off a lovely night out. Recommended.

We went to this restaurant as recommended by HPB at Merlewood. We were not sure what to expect. What we got was beyond our wildest expectations! The food was absolutely superb and beautifully served and presented. My daughters both said it was the best meal they have ever had. We definitely want to return before we go home.
